Ordered online, kids cheeseburger meal along with load of other food.. ridiculous small plain burger with a cut down to size bap. No cheese. No chips and no drink with it.. tried to call the shop to say but no answer whole evening.. ruined the dinner as the child didn't get his dinner he wanted and was paid for

Called my order in at 8:45pm and the girls working were just finishing my order at 8:58 when I walked in to collect my burger. As I was leaving at one minute past the 9pm closing time a fella stuck his head in the door and asked if he could get served and all immediately replied "yes, what would you like?". Very rarely do you find this level of customer service anywhere in the world these days.....I bow my head and salute you all. Respect.(Burger, chips and onion rings were all first class. Bravo!!!)

I got food in here last night. Nicest fish and chips in town! Service was next to nothing! Girls were very pleasant and no wait for my food! Will definitely be back and will definitely be recommended!

We stay in Tollymore in caravan so use this chippy when we stay, this order wasn’t up to expectations, we ordered on the app and had a 28 min wait, we also ordered food from a different place in town, collected the other food and arrived to get the Chippy, was told it would be another 10 minutes, the food hadn’t even been started, when we arrived Home the food wasn’t correct but after such a wait and drive back we just accepted it, will try elsewhere next time.

Got a gravy chip and was a big long hair wrapped around the chips 🤢 I was disgusted so brought it back to get my money back and the girl walked off with the chip to the back of shop then eventually gave me my money back with a half mumbled apology! Very disappointing

Couple of small issues on my first visit but after speaking to the owner who apologised and put things right we came back and gave mccanns another try , and I am so glad we did because it was absolutely delicious and the staff members were encountered this time (Jacqueline , Shannon and Theresa ) were absolute superstars a big shout out to Danny McCann too who takes the utmost pride in his business , customer service and hygiene. We will definitely be back again thank you all for a great experience.

I had cod chips and peas today from McCanns chip shop and they were delicious. I enjoyed every bite of the fish. Would definitely recommend it. Paula x

Ordered a fish supper and was not disappointed. The fish was gorgeous with pure white fillet and there was a good portion of chips with it. Would definitely recommend this place and the service was good on a very busy and sunny day. Thanks will call again when next in Newcastle,

Best chips, sausage and onion rings. Very tasty, hubby who is 62 said it's the best onion rings he's ever had. Will definitely go again when in the area. Really enjoyed the meal. Thank you.

As an award winning fish and chips the service was disgusting. Waited 45 minutes for a wrap and bag of chips, when I asked how long it would be they said gonna be another couple minutes. The wrap had been ready for 20 minutes and left on the side. Ended up cancelling the order as very poor service. Will not be going there again. Food looked poor quality

The 1st May Bank Holiday we phoned and ordered food for to be picked up and when we arrived half of the order was missing and we had to wait on the rest of the food which meant the first lot was cold. I did ring up and complained and my money was refunded. I decided to try again this Bank Holiday and actually went into the chip shop and ordered and and again the same thing happened who ever put the order through is not processing it right that all the food is ready at the same time. Fish was cold and given Southern Fried Goujons instead of plain. We are caravaners and have eaten here many times without any complaint but sorry won't be returning.

Headed down to Newcastle with the family last Wednesday (August 30th).. called into John Mac's but it was closed. Did a Google search and found McCann's. Not going to get into which I prefer because that's down to personal taste. The chips were crisp and dry, the fish was soft and fluffy. Despite, liking dry and crispy fish, I found this to be very agreeable. Not stoggy or greasy, just moist and flavoursome. I would strongly recommend McCanns, if you're looking for a traditional fish and chips.

Took a long time for food to be delivered but it was good. The cheeseburger had one slice of cheese because of corporate stingyness and greed. Overall it was pretty good just don’t be so stingy with your cheese

Worst experience I’ve ever had at a chippy. I Placed my order at 18:20 and was given a bleeper to know when my order is completed. Not until 19:00 I finally got my order. Bleeper was as useless as the staff in there

Fish was first-class!! Chips were the best I have ever had! Definitely worth a visit and highly recommend!! And let's not forget the ice cream in a cone with a coffee to finish the evening!

Very disappointed in this ‘award winning’ fish and chip place. The onion rings tasted simply of old oil, the chips were also not great and the batter tasteless and disappointing. My son did love his chicken goujons. I would not return.

I had been recommended to use this chippy (Newcastle) by my sister, so thought it would be great, however this was much to my disappointment! when I ordered my food, I was told by Shannon (the girl who served us) that there was only 1 chicken burger left. we wanted to get 2 chicken burgers. we thought its a Saturday night at 6.00pm so maybe we were just to late to the spot. we proceeded with our order, but changing the chicken burger to a fish supper (may I add that this is 3 pounds more expensive). A chicken wrap meal, a large chip and a pepper chip. Again we were met with there is no pepper sauce! we then had to change the order to a gravy chip. we waited 25 mins for the food and to my disbelief, another customer ordered a chicken burger which was apparently now available! I asked the girl serving, did you not state there was no chicken burgers to be told oh no we had to make some up! we would have happily waited for this to be made up but we were told there was none left! when I got the food home, the large chip was ridiculously small and everything was cold. the 10 pound fish supper didn't even have a layer of chips to fill the box! I would not recommend this chippy at all and will not be back! I would encourage people to go to the other chippies in Newcastle for better service, more delicious food and for it to be warm when you get to eat it. I would also not recommend the shakes as this is an expensive ice cream with a sauce round the side.

Staff are lovely service is quick. The food is very good plenty of items on the menu. Seating both outside and inside. We'll worth a visit

Best fish and chips I've had! Really!

Paid near £10 for what was ment to be a large super chip and when I got home it was half full more like a small than a large, the burger was over cooked, not sure what awards they would have received if this is the quality of food.

Use to be a lovely chippy always went there and had good portions and lovely food Went yesterday and the food was disappointing as the chips where cold the super sauce was cold but fish was hot but very small portions Unfortunately I won't be back definitely won't be recommending

Has really went down hill. Prices shocking, chips portion sizes have halved, shocked at the Amount of chips i recieved for the price I paid . I know prices have increased with inflation but this is a joke. Just ordered out of top of the town chippy and received three times the amount of food for the same price. I wont be back.

Chips good, but no taco mince meat on the taco cheese chips, just taco sauce. And 30p more expensive than garlic cheese chips, why? For taco sauce? Give over. Goujons were also good.

Loved it!! It was really nice and very crunchy. Yummy yummy, only downside is they should have consider vegetarian people as well. Like, I don't think they are using different set of tools and oil for vegetarian chips. So, a bit disappointment for veg. persons.

Not for the first time fu…. My order . Ordered chicken coujons, burger an chips . Specifically said no vinegar. Been on duty since 7 30 this morning. Picked up food drove home NO COUJONS an chips smothered in VINEGAR.. when I rang they thought I might like to drive back .. SERIOUSLY..

Long wait, fish incredibly thin and poor texture not like cod, batter tasteless. Can't see how they won any award given the complete lack of quality, won't be back.

Nice fish and chips. Could have done with plenty more salt and vinegar for me personally. Close proximity to the seafront which is nice but definitely needs a litter bin closer by to the shop itself as a few benches to sit and eat by it and young boys were littering as I was standing in the queue.
