Mayflower Chinese Takeaway in Cannock Chase

We thoroughly enjoyed our experience, food and service were great. Could have done with some prawn crackers but maybe we will ask for them next time.

Poor take away food was not nice! Cispy chilli beef taste more of fish! Food over salted Won't go back

Please close this place down. That was the most disgusting Chinese food I have ever tried. I feel physically sick after forcing a small amount of it down me. Cheapest beef ever, filthy taste, awful sauces especially the chilli, raw carrot, I could go on.... vile. I expect a refund. Our order was placed about 8pm on Saturday 3rd Feb, WS15 1JT.

Why the hell is going on!!! We ordered 2 steamed rice, 1 chips and a chicken with lemon sauce cost £17.00 The portion size is really small and the lemon sauce is in a small pot! Not only are the prices really high but they have cut the portions down! Joke! The annoying thing is the food is nice! Won’t be using here again!

Reviews on here don't seem to tally with my experience. Price is reasonable *except the drinks 😉* Everything always hot and fresh. Only slight gripe would be some portions are a little small.

Food isn't as good as it was a few years ago. Portions are small and food is average. Delivery lady was polite and early

Awful food. Used to use the Mayflower a lot. House special fried rice was to die for. God knows what happened.

Worst Chinese I’ve ever had!!! I ordered the salt and pepper mixed hor d’oeurves which came all covered in some sort of chilli and garlic sauce, unpleasant and made everything soggy, the ribs and wings were cremated and dry and the yuk sung tasted exactly the same as the sauce on everything else. Worse Chinese ever, certainly will not be using them again

Looking at the reviews normally you would avoid? I have ordered from here on 3 separate occasions and I have not been let down. BBQ ribs are honestly amazing and the rest of the food has been delicious.

Ordered a bbq 3 in 1. Wasn’t expecting loads but .. wow I won’t be ordering from here again. The bbq sauce made up 50% of the tray, and it was black and thick like tar🤢

Never use this place, food is shocking

Do not bother ordering from them. They said 45m delivery which took 1 hour 30 minutes and when it arrived it was freezing cold. The salt n pepper chips were only half a bag full and looked like they had been left over from another order. The curry sauce was cold and one of the polystyrene pots had disintegrated into the bag. The salt n pepper chicken was rock hard and half a tub full. The pancake rolls were soggy and hardly any filling. We had to throw it all in the bin!! We rang the takeaway and told them how unhappy we were and were met with it was the drivers fault!! They were late to pick it up!!! We said if they were late then surely they should have cooked it again, but all our complaints were met with "it was the drivers fault" they didn't take any responsibility for the food being so rubbish and all they offered was 10%. Will never order from them again!!!

i ordered 3, 4 in 1s for a quick takeaway, wasn’t expecting a lot as i’ve not heard great things but was only chinese open at this time. I can safely say i will not be ordering again, our food was swimming in what was supposed to be “bbq” sauce, it’d had been thrown into its tubs & tasted awful. Only nice thing about it was the tiny piece of chicken in the 1 chicken ball i got.

The food was over cooked and wasn't worth the money at all. The only thing that tasted okay were the chicken crispy ball.

Advertised closing time is 11pm but it would appear they open and close whenever they fancy I arrived at 9.54pm and was greeted with a “closed” sign. The girl at the counter told me (through the glass) that it was 10pm and they were closed for the night, to which I replied (showing my phone display that said 9.55pm) that it wasn’t, in fact 10pm yet. Her response was to giggle and shrug

Chinese is OK ish but they need to improve on the gravy taste and also the chicken chow mein needs to be bigger portion size

Vegetable chow mein couldn't bite the veg & not taste ..what a waste

Delivery driver went to wrong address, then gave me verbal about it as if thats my fault. as a consequence, the food was half cold and wasn't very p[leasent to begin with.

First time for a wile i have used the mayflower and will not be going again the curry was more like sweet and sour and it was orange did not enjoy it 1 bit chips where cold but the noodles where ok most went in the bin

My meal was nice, Chow mein and mushrooms, Wife Chicken Curry was nice but the chicken feels looks processed.. didn't feel, taste real , was like watery and out of a tin.. so be aware.. didnt complain just wont have that again, on the whole good service, hot delivery good.. I will use again..

Ordered a takeaway for tea. The chicken was off. Hubby phoned them and took it back. 20 minutes later they phoned back saying there was nothing wrong with it. Sorry I know when something tastes and smells off. Will never be using Mayflower again.

Order for a delivery for the first time only to find that the pancake roll it was black inside, we had ordered was far from edible the curry was greasy to look at and my partner complained that his tasted strange spent £23 and they refused to give a refund except on the pancake roll.

Had king prawn curry and looked like sweet and sour and the curry was watery. Also had chicken balls for my grandson and they were barely warm and the pancake roll was full of grease it was soggy. Also had special fried rice and it had bits of bbq spare ribs and everything was stuck together. The beef was like chewing on a leather belt. Most of it went down the bin £21.70 gone down the bin.

After reading some of the comments I was a bit dubious about using this establishment, but, I have to say had a lovely meal. The menu offers different dishes as well as the classic Chinese dishes. Lovely staff & good service. Reasonably priced. Have no issues with using them again.

Chips were refried ...curry was more like sweet and sour .. beef fried rice full of grease ...the only upside the delivery lady and the telephone operator were very polite....will not be using ever again....

Worst takeaway I have ever had, 20% of my chicken dish was grease and it looked like packet chicken that they used, the "curry sauce" was bright orange and tasted vile, both portions of rice where flavourless with minimal meat in it. Recently moved to the area and couldn't of been anymore disappointed with a takeaway if I tried.

28 pounds of food went straight in the bin totally discussed curry was like sweet and sour .. beef was like rubber .. rice was like it had been glued together ..... the one star I have given was for the delivery guy very polite and very clean and tidy looking chap

Ordered food from here and it came to us burnt and we were offered a refund but it was too far to travel even tho they offered to bring a replacement omelette. Won’t be ordering from here again.

Never used the Mayflower Chinese Takeaway before, glad I did. Food was lovely. Good portions. Ad Home Delivery Lady who delivered the Meal was very pleasant. Will not use znywhere else now.

This is my go-to chinese takeaway in Rugeley. Best chicken in black bean I've had, and absolutely love their salt and chilli chicken wings. Thoroughly recommend!

Food is alright! personally don't the like curry sauce and the last coupke of visits the qualuty of meat in chow mein was poor i would rather travel and i live on the pear tree estate

Rating zero..recently ordered from here,the gravy on our meals was thick,black,like tar,and tasted disgusting..rang up to ask for a refund which was agreed,and I was told that someone would come to pick up the food. Then I got a phone call back to say that the manager would not send anyone or give us a refund unless we paid the delivery charge for sending the driver down to collect the food. !! We refused,so the food still sat here the next day. The correct authorities are dealing with it,and still no apology,no refund..nothing! ! Disgusting food,terrible customer service. Do yourselves a favour and steer clear of here.

Disgusting care and customer service. Ordered from there this evening,the roast chicken,chips and gravy and a separate chips and gravy were covered in what looked like really thick tar. On tasting it,it was as horrible as it looked. After they agreed to give us a refund and collect the food,we received a phone call saying the manager would not send anyone to collect the food or give us a refund unless we paid the delivery.. what a joke!! Lack of customer care and customer service at its very worst!! We are still sat waiting for someone to collect it and give us a refund. Will never be using this place again. Steer clear. I had to give it a rating or else it wouldn't add my review but our rating is zero.

Havent been here in a couple of years but the wing shun was closed so tried it again, firstly the pancake roll was amazing , the best ive ever had. And the dry spare ribs were lovely and meaty also. However the curry both king prawn and chicken were awful. It was so greasy my husband later threw it up. The colour was bright red and very runny the worst chinese curry weve ever had. Disapointing.

I have been using the mayflower for the last 5 years since moving to the area best one around in my opinion delivery is always swift and professional and no compromise on the quality of the food with a wide variety I'll continue to be a loyal customer

We live very close to this Chinese so always use it. Having read some of the reviews I have to say I don't agree. I haven't noticed the portion sizes being any smaller and have always found the food to be nothing but delicious. Our general order is always chicken chow mein for the kids, sweet and sour chicken, cantonese style for me and then hubby always has some kind of house special. It was absolutely delicious as always - thank you very much. As a note , a bag of prawn crackers thrown in would be a nice touch .

I don't usually write reviews but this place is really good. Food is always lovely, and whenever I get delivery im never waiting long.

Literally just had a delivery from Mayflower...so disappointed... very small portions bulked out with onions ..had singapore chow mein and another king prawn dish this is the worst take away in years..7 prawns nd 3 slithers of pepper nd noodles... the other dish was tasty just bulked out with onion no other veg in sight! need I say more! And to boot the price quoted went up by £1.10 when delivered ..and yes delivery charge was already included...safe to say won't be using the Mayflower in Rugeley ever again ...definately not recommended 😑

This Used to be our main place for chinese food, but since recent changes the portions have got smaller the quality has reduced and its not as nice as it used to be. We are now trying other places

Stopped off here for a takeaway on way home from a night out. We had chicken curry with rice and chips and king prawn curry with rice and chips and a spring roll. It was absolute delicious and can't wait to come back. Thank you very much. Keep up the good work.

The food used to be really nice from here but unfortunately the last few times we have had a meal from here it has been of a poor standard, not very hot and did not look appealing. Such a shame.

Standard food really for Chinese in staffs. But staff are lovely and helpful. Fine for a quick dinner but nothing too special.

Pedí una novia para llevar conmigo y y fue a recogerlo. Yo pedí un pollo chow main, rollitos de primavera y Singapur chow principal con fideos vermicelli no huevo ya que soy alérgico al huevo!! Cuando llegué a casa de recoger la comida para llevar hasta que encontré había huevos y fideos de huevo, me llamó y había un desacuerdo entre la cocina y la mujer en el teléfono. Me mandaron otra y esta vez no hubo ningún huevo, pero aún así los fideos de huevo!!!!!!!!!!!! Como un chef me parece inaceptable, ya que es claramente la ley para entender alergenos!!! Espero que no matan a nadie! Quizás la salud ambiental debe ser informado.

Buena comida cantonesa de calidad a un precio razonable. Servicio personal agradable y servicial y la entrega normalmente bastante rápido.

Bien como para arriba... solía usar mucho pero me pareció mejor. Puede aparcar justo fuera, lo cual es una ventaja y salir pero en general buena calidad y porciones

Local Chinese just situated on the border of Rugeley. Great food, excellent customer service, fast service and have the best salt & pepper chips around.

I really like the food from Mayflower. I am a fussy eater and the lady on the phone (Pat) is really patient and the food always arrives exactly how I ordered it. Sometimes the food is a little overcooked and sometimes isn't hot but overall it is really nice

went to a friends, had Cantonese special. food was very nice. ive had takeaways that make your tummy rubble all night after eating and not at this place.a good takeaway will go again when next over.

Since they have been taken over the food is terrible, curry sauce tastes and smells awful! Chow mein has become sticky and stodgy and I couldn't eat my meal. Please sort it out mayflower as you were the only nice Chinese in town, now we have To go out of town to get one.

Lovely beef + mushroom, chicken curry, chow mein, prawn crackers .... always have the same, so can't really comment on any other meals! Hot when they arrive and you get plenty, but expect a wait of at least 40 minutes, sometimes longer, would recommend.

Food is consistently good and hot . The food quality is excellent . A very nice lady takes the order and delivery always within 5 minutes of ETA

Chinese takeaways are to a large extent, a commodity takeaway. That is to say, order something in two different Chinese takeaways, and the chances are the dishes will be very similar. Now saying that, the one area where they do ALL appear to be different is their curry sauce. Find a Chinese takeaway that makes a good curry sauce and you've cracked it. Prior to the shop being sold and under new ownership, Mayflower's curry sauce dishes were first class; creamy, tasty, just hot enough, lovely. Now? not so good. The curry sauce is darker coloured and a strong taste, quite simply, just like the powder that Chinese curry sauce is made of - and no more. Whereas I think that the Chinese takeaways producing a good curry sauce have their own additives and touches that make it a cut above the rest - as did the old Mayflower's curry sauce that was creamier and more of a yellow colour.

I have takeaways from here sometimes and they are nice the food is good and the service is good. I reccommend.

I always use this takeaway for Chinese food. It is by far the best in Rugeley; the food is amazing. The ladies that take the orders and delivery guys are really nice too
