What a special restaurant this is. Just returned celebrating my wife’s 60th birthday with her parents and our two adult children. Matt was such a welcoming host and an amazing chef. His house is a delight and the food and ambience made the occasion memorable. His team assisting were friendly and polite. My daughter is vegan and Matt made an equally delicious meal for her too. Deservedly the best restaurant in Bruton!

Cosy, warm place with really good food. Matt is personable and efficient. We liked that we could bring our own wine which kept the cost down to a very reasonable price for a high quality meal. Recommended

The cuisine here is exceptional and the atmosphere was relaxed and cozy, making us enjoy our dinner. The appetizers and desserts were delicious and the service was excellent.

A first visit , wanting to go for a while. I’m a foodie & what Matt offers is a foodie experience with a difference! Matt did that, booked to celebrate our wedding anniversary ,which we thoroughly enjoyed, we met Matt , very friendly & explained what we were going to be eating. A super tasty dining experience ! 5* Unfortunately not local & elderly, but hoping in future we can enjoy again.

Matt's Kitchen did not disappoint. The dining room was quirky and cosy and the food delicious with plenty of time between courses to savour what we had just eaten. Matt cooked us a special salmon main course as we do not eat meat. We enjoyed chatting with him as it was an unusually quiet evening. Matt is very generous with his recipes and sent us two of our favourites afterwards. Highly recommended.

Matt the man himself came to meet us front of house. His warm welcome set the tone for a very unique experience, it was clear he had an incredible local following which was well deserved. Couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy my 27th birthday enjoying the delicious vegan food.

Came for dinner tonight - walked through the door to be greeted by Matt himself…absolutely lovely! We’d never been before as only visiting on holiday - what a superb find. What an amazing evening we had at Matt’s kitchen on Friday evening. The food was just deliciously beautiful. The atmosphere was genial as we chatted to two lovely ladies sitting on the next table and also the table behind. It was a surprise booking by my lovely husband that was a fun memorable evening. BYO is a fab idea although it did encourage us to drink a little more than we should have . Who needs to pay over the odds for a tasting menu when you have Matts personal service at such a reasonable price. We came in as a couple but left making a few friends . Not fine dining in the traditional sense, but one of the very best dining dining experiences I’ve ever had! Probably best described as artisan food elevated to dizzying heights, packed full of wonderful flavours - all served in a cosy, romantic setting in Matt’s small but delightful dwelling on Bruton High Street. Matts hospitable welcome at the door, extends throughout the evening as he takes you on a culinary adventure, describing each course in detail as he delivers it to your table. My husband and I enjoyed a childless weekend in Bruton and spent our first evening out to dinner at Matt's Kitchen. Every part of our visit was perfection, from the warm greeting right up to final goodbye from Matt, himself. The food was exquisite, every mouthful was unbelievable. I would have booked us in for the Saturday if Matt hadn't been fully booked. It's a set menu each month but yes, the food was that good that I'd have eaten it all over again the very next day. Matt and his team are the perfect hosts, the restaurant is so warm and comforting. Being able to BYOB gave it that extra feel of relaxation... as though we'd hired a charming personal chef! Do not hesitate to book Matt's Kitchen. We will be returning to Bruton and our first stop will be Matt's Kitchen!

My husband and I went to Matt's Kitchen last night after a long week of work. It was just what the soul ordered. Food was thought out, flavours were fantastic and made with the best ingredient, love! Matt's hosting was lovely and personable, we were late and he was very forgiving! The team he has is also lovely and personable, timely service while letting you sit and and his place has a very relaxed dinner vibe without being ushered out to turn tables over. Beautiful bathroom experience, all the stuff you see there is well thought out and as Matt chatted to us, he has taken his time to hone and has no wastage with food, and has organic hand towels. Had the most amazing 3 course last night. What an experience! Lovely intimate setting and Matt literally opens up his home to welcome a select few. Lovely staff and Matt is a delight to chat to. He spends the time to speak to you on your table, and if your lucky, he might even show you his kitchen. It felt like visiting a friend for a meal, except the friend cooks Michelin star food. If you haven't been, stop thinking about it, just book and go now if you enjoy delicious, well crafted flavours. Looking forward to seeing what's on the menu next month. Don't forget it's BYO, which is great being able to bring along your favourite drink. Keep up the amazing work Matt and the rest of the team. My wife, brilliantly, booked Matt's Kitchen to celebrate my 50th birthday. It really was the perfect choice. The dining experience is unique, the welcome warm and the food, well, simply divine. Matt is a superb host, fun, warm and friendly, and his passion for his food is obvious. We had three sublime courses, each introduced with an explanation of what we were about to enjoy. And enjoy we did. Each course was a taste sensation, generous in their portion size and flavours. The atmosphere in the restaurant is friendly, comfortable, unique and original. For the quality of the dishes and the personal service, it really can't be beaten. I cannot recommend Matt's Kitchen enough.

What a place. A different seasonal menu each month where you get everything listed, and it's BYO 👀 The service and atmosphere was beyond expectations. Matt greeted us at the door and went on to explain each dish as it came out. I emailed prior to the meal to ask if a candle could be put in my husband's dessert for his birthday... What a lovely experience. To be greeted by Matt, in his home and to eat the most marvellous food based around what’s in season. His big punchy flavours delight the palate yet hang well together - rarely have I had such a delicious meal, and all for £40! A shout out to Matt’s staff too, the girls were great, welcoming, efficient and smiling. If you are in Bruton and want a cheaper alternative to the more expensive restaurants, but without compromising on quality and taste, book at Matt’s Kitchen.

From booking all the way through to the sublime food experience Matt’s Kitchen was kind, welcoming and a taste sensation. Staying in the area alone for a few weeks Matt found me a table even though they were fully booked. Enjoyed the whole experience immensely thanks so much for a lovely Friday night… meant to take photos of the beautiful incredible tasting food but too preoccupied eating it!

Thursday night was the first time that my wife and I have eaten in matt‘skitchen ,Itwas an excellent experience, delightful food with lots of little twists and turns that made it an interesting and very enjoyable meal. Very enjoyable meal. The 'fixed' menu is interesting. The food was excellent, the service was attentive and the dining room is characterful. BYOB is fine. Given it is a set menu, the food is somewhat expensive but it is high quality. The wait between courses was OK for us but it could have been quicker. Some crusty sourdough 'on the side' would have been welcome. Nevertheless, we would certainly revisit.

We were taken here for a treat by my daughter and her partner and it was a wonderful experience. Each course was interesting and tasty, textures wonderful with so many different flavours. Living locally , I cannot imagine why it has taken us so long to eat here. For a dining experience with great service , creative menu and outstanding food this is your place. The BYO is a really nice novelty as well. Couldnt recommend highly enough .

An explosion of flavours. From an array of starters packed with punching flavours and various textures which complement each other so well; to the amazing main of (pescatarian at request), perfectly seasoned fish, cooked delicate white meat that melted in the mouth and always delivered at perfect temperature, through the the orgasmic 70% chocolate desert with thoughtfully constructed gelato with Madeira cake. This is a special place decorated with blues and golds, fairy lit staircase and an array or eclectic art work. It’s always phenomenal experience, it’s menu is mouth watering and completely unique. You won’t have tasted anything similar, as it’s a culmination of one man’s experiences and expertise. This unique place is managed by Matt, is founder and food mixologist. His flavours are inspired by his travels including Indonesia, Bali to name but a few. His interest and inspiration in local foods and technics, ensures that every trip away continues to inspire his passion for cooking. There’s a reason he’s celebrating 13 years. Book early to avoid disappointment!!

I’m so cross that I have lived near Bruton for far too many years without ever dining at Matt’s Kitchen. My husband and I went last night and it was just the best experience we’ve had probably ever! From the ambiance to the food to the service Matt’s Kitchen is faultless. I usually think I’m quite good with words but I can’t for the life of me summon up any that do this restaurant the justice it deserves.

Took my girlfriend for a birthday meal and we were wowed by the place. The ambience when you walk is very cosy as you're greeted by Matt. Matt’s kitchen is an eclectic, eccentric, and totally wonderful dining experience. The warm welcome and exceptional personal service makes the whole experience relaxing and inviting. And the food… it’s well thought out and planned with exquisite textures and favours. We’ve eaten at a few Michelin starred restaurants and Matt’s cooking and presentation is up there with them!

What an experience! From the moment you walk in you know the eve is going to be something special. Eclectic, romantic decor, wonderful and professional service and the food was excellent. We got a takeaway Friday dinner - mackerel pate, veg soup, 2 pork belly with wild garlic mash and chocolate torte. All delicious and full of flavour. If we were locals we would order lots more!

Having read all the excellent reviews here I hesitate to criticise at all and perhaps we were unfortunate but our experience differed fropm the majority who have written on TripAdvisor.Although the atmosphere is warm and friendly and the chef pleasant and helpful,the waitress was abrupt. We were somewhat disappointed in the food.The starter of mixed cold meats and cheese was flavoursome and went well together but did not require much creativity or preparation.The seafood soup was OK .The main course of chicken again was OK but it was not fine cuisine and there were too many ingredients in a small bowl. In addition the lighting was so poor you struggled to see what was in the bowl.The site of diners shining their phone lights on their food was abundant.Dessert was perfectly alright but again showed little effort in originality and presentation. If I am being picky it is because ,at £40 a head without drinks,one might expect a higher level if culinary skill.We came away with the impression that the object was to prepare as much as possible in advance,eliminating choice and creating a set menu to minimise waste and keep costs as low as possible.All very well for the restaurant but not so good for the diners.Having said all that the evening was redeemed by the warm and friendly atmosphere and despite the concerns mentioned above we had an enjoyable time.

Went for dinner last evening (Saturday) and had a fabulous time. Food, atmosphere, service were all brilliant. Matt even made a different main course when I told him in advance that I didn't eat chicken and which was on the main course menu. He didn't have to do so, but he prepared a lovely seabass dish with tomato risotto which was delicious, as all three courses were. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves and would definitely go back.
