Another fantastic meal at Mattoni’s in Eye. Service great as usual. The mozzarella Grande is something me and my partner dream about all the time! The espresso martinis are out of this world also. Thank you guys so much.

Pre booked 30th birthday meal yet waiting at least 1hr 15 for even a starter even though order was given when booking. Some staff rude and unapologetic which gives for a very unfriendly atmosohere. Hardly the stress for environment for a pregnant 30yr old. When eventually the children's fries did arrive they were undercooked and were sent back meaning some of the party left as children needed to eat before their bedtime. Booking at 6pm and not a sign of food until 7.15pm is not acceptable. Clearly not equipped for large groups at the weekend. Not planning on coming back any time soon and would suggest large parties to avoid at weekends if this is the level or service provided.

It was my first and last visit to this establishment. Was a large party booking with pre booked meals . In the party were small children so had ordered food to start at 6pm …. 7:45pm still no food . When asking members of staff numerous times they became aggressive and no apology or explanation what was happening . When one of the children became so upset due to time waiting and hunger we left without eating . So can’t comment on food as unfortunately never got any !!I did observe when leaving many meals being returned to the kitchen from another dining party . The management were a disgrace with their attitude and no customer service.nobody is that good that you can be arrogant and obnoxious to the paying customer . Such a big disappointment for a family celebration . Avoid this place if a large booking as they can’t cater for such advent .

Dinner at Mattoni’s tonight was delightful! The food was amazing and the service was excellent. We had Gigi serving us, and she’s super friendly and definitely going to visit again soon! I’ve now found a new family favourite and look forward to celebrating special occasions here. The Candy Shop children’s dessert is a lovely touch and interactive. I can highly recommend this family friendly restaurant. The calzone is delicious, so much so, I over indulge and didn’t leave much room for my main! We were offered boxes to take our food home and will enjoy for a snack later. Thanks so much for a lovely experience/evening.

Excellent lunch for 5 hungry men having a reunion. Pizzas massive and meaty Pasta very tasty Chicken classy! Welcome and service very "comfortable", friendly and efficient all at once.

Had one of the specials tbe ‘gammon grill’ which was delicious as was the rest of the food we had. Would highly recommend, service was great and will be back.

Perfect for lunch on a Saturday with family.....not at all busy so very pleased with every aspect.....staff friendly but not pushy.....food was excellent..... definitely a place to return to..... I suspect it would be quite a different experience on a busy evening.....

It’s criminal that I lived in Peterborough for 3 years and had never visited this place. Best Carbonara I have ever had! The service exceptional and restaurant was spacious with a unique and authentic decor. Honestly a hidden gem!

I’d have given the quality 5 stars if the fries were not soggy. Perhaps the boxing could be reconsidered to prevent this? 40 minute delivery from what I’ve always known a busy restaurant was very good. This was our first time having a delivery rather than eating in and the pizza, carbonara and of course Tiramisu were all lovely. Very happy and we’d order again. Thank you!

What a disappointment. We rarely eat out these days as we are on a budget but I know my food. Menu: old and battered laminated menu which is NOTHING like the extensive menu online and is more expensive ! Don’t understand why we were given such a rubbish menu in comparison? Food: Bruschetta: poor excuse for the name and price. Tasteless and made with little care. Loads of raw onion. Only flavour was the giant salt crystals it was smothered in. Couldn’t eat it all. Pasta dishes: the ones cooked in the oven were okay. But nothing special. Lasagne was £16 and came with nothing, not even a salad leaf ! Bread was such a tiny slice, it was a joke. Spag Bol and Popette, pasta was undercooked on the Polpette. Two people left theirs. £15 for a spag Bol and it was pretty lame. Asked for Parmesan and got a bowl of that Parmesan you get in packets (cheap & dried) I ordered Pollo Parolaccia which is chicken and mushroom in a brandy & white wine sauce. Chicken was like the frozen chicken you buy in bags in Tesco for the dogs. They say everything is fresh. Fresh out the freezer bag it seems. Served with Sautéed potato chips. NOT sautéed. Very uniform, definitely out of a bag of frozen sliced potatoes. £18.95. No side salad, just beige slop. I note now that it’s advertised to come with salad. There was none. Service: average. No real care taken. Waitress spilled the ‘Parmesan’ all over the table and just left it there. Didn’t come ask for drink top ups. We just used the bar. Added 10% service charge on the end of our large bill. Felt totally ripped off. This was not fresh and not traditional Italian, despite the prices. I noticed in a previous review Mattoni say they haven’t increased prices despite raised costs. This is not true and also, maybe half an explanation as to why the quality of the ingredients was so embarrassing. Tried to complain about some of the issues, but was just told ‘sorry’ with no explaination or offer to compensate. Was for a special birthday. Everyone disappointed. Ps. Been to Mattoni in Hampton earlier this year and the service there was awful and the atmosphere non existent. Food average but we had the luch special so wasn’t as bothered as price was suited to the quality.

We have been to Mattoni more than 5 times now. Every single time it’s been great. The servers are brilliant and always so friendly and helpful. The lunch time deal was so delicious. We can’t wait to go back for our next visit.

Thinking that an Italian restaurant near Peterborough, would be an authentic Italian experience…….how wrong I was. I found the service slow and inefficient, bringing out the hors d’oeuvres with the main course. They forgot my drink when the others were brought over, I had to get my own drink from the bar. The carbonara resembled something from a packet and had a powdery taste. The pizza had a similar look to something from a kebab shop at 2am.

the carbonara portion was so small 🤦 like a kids meal portion, I'm literally having to cook a pizza to fill me up, not sure il order again after that.

The food here is great, only reason I marked as 4 is because you put your weekly specials online but don’t update this if it changes for reasons outside of your control. This was really disappointing as the replacement desserts were unfortunately ones I do not like and I only chose to go here this week because of the weekly specials you had. I personally think if you are going to put these online you should update it if it changes. In future I will make sure to call to check of course.

Always have a tasty meal here. Have been coming for many years. The waitress (Canadian i think) was very helpful. Highly recommended.

Private birthday party - excellent on all counts.

Very bland and tasteless. Arrived after an hour but food wasn’t great. Not a good impression on my first order.

What can I say, what a great find! We were going to be in the area and I wanted to surprise my wife as it was her birthday… I looked on the map near to where we were travelling to and found Mattoni Restaurant, read some reviews and booked a table. Easy to find and good access to parking, we chose to sit outside under the large covered pergola… Don’t be fooled, it’s big inside with plenty of tables, clean, and inviting. Ordered some drinks and took a look at the menu, a good comprehensive list of authentic Italian gastronomic delights! We chose to share 3 starters and were instantly won over! We didn’t order desserts as we were full from our starters, but the staff surprised my wife with a lovely lemon gelato for her birthday! I can’t say when we’ll be back, but if we’re in the area we’ll pop in! Great staff, great food and what I consider good value for money. Thank you Mattoni’s, you made our day

Delicious food everyone we visit. My favourite is the Cannelloni! Lovely selection of wines and lots of seating outside for the lovely weather.

Tonight I took a looong term friend there, again all great. Just wanted to congratulate the barman specifically this time! He made the best Tia Maria liqueur coffee I've ever had!...and believe me I know how it should taste! Brilliant and thank you! Dinner was great too too so congrats to the chef and kitchen staff as well as the welcome I always get when I visit from Vic' and the girls. All the best guys! My Dad's 90th birthday on Saturday night had no organisation at all, not nearly enough staff on and having booked the table 6 weeks previous and paid deposit with a list of starters and main meals as requested 2 weeks before booking we waited far to long for the food and weren't seated at the tables we were supposed to be as had been given to other people . To add insult to injury not only did my Dad and Step Mum have to wait the longest for food over one and a half hours they then tried to add 25% service charge on top of the very substantial food/drink money spent on Saturday night. Won't be going back.

I was looking around for a place to take my partner for a nice night out. It must be said it was very nice to visit Mattoni food was outstanding some of best pizza I have ever had and starters was super lovely as well. The food came out quite quick which was nice especially for a Saturday night. Would recommend checking this place out and will definitely be back in the future.

Sadly no where near to what it used to be . Waitresses very polite but also very forgetful. Starter wasn’t properly cooked . Caesar salad was a bowl of chopped chunky red onions. Steak meant to be medium cooked but arrived dry ( re heated ??? Not sure ). And why the hell French wine served in Italian restaurant ? Sadly it’s a no from me . It might be purely bad luck as we came an hour before closing , but I’m not too keen to come back . However , atmosphere is cosy .

We met up here and enjoyed a relaxed catch up with great service and generous portions.

Booked the restaurant table of 5 for this evening. Turn up to find the table had not been reserved, they put us on a table which was not laid out with cutlery, we had to ask for cutlery and menus. Food got served at different times and one starter was not even put through on the order. One of us got served gone-off bottled beer (was orange, flat and tasted disgusting). One of us had to send the food back as it not what was ordered and it came out cold. We then got the same plate given back to us the same maybe microwaved? The burger that was served was overcooked. Honestly, terrible. Had to argue about the cold reheated food for the waitress to defend the food. Such a shame as it is our local restaurant.

Very good, Lasagne was really tasty, Rigatoni lovely and filling could taste the quality of the ingredients.

Anything like Hampton is awesome

The restaurant should be called Mattoni Italian Weatherspoon. That was my impression after dining there. I had a glass of wine with a red lipstick stain, the cannelloni was more like soup due to its excessive liquid content, the bread served with it was not fresh, and the carbonara was made with cream, which is not traditional. Additionally, the bacon used was not of Italian origin. Overall, the cuisine was not authentic Italian. It seemed like they were trying to mimic Italian food but using cheap ingredients instead. This was our second visit and it will be our last.

Lovely food once again could probably do with more kitchen staff as when busy which is most of the time it was quite a wait for our food 👍👍

Brill authentic Italian restaurant.

First time at this restaurant for a family dinner. Nice big restaurant, cozy feel. Staff friendly and helpful. The tables was very sticky and when we asked for it to be cleaned we were told it was recently varnished although we could see the round sticky marks from the previous customers. The menus not clean either. The pizzas was nice, but the burger very dry. We've been to Mattoni in Hampton a few times and always had a nice time, so expected better. Also noticed a few cobwebs in the corner, so it just didn't feel very clean.

Booked in advance for 7:30pm on a Saturday evening. Our party had to wait for 15mins in the doorway on a cold evening for a table. Once seated we found ourselves next to a birthday party who had no regard for fellow dinners and no control over the children in the party. We waited a further 15 minutes before we could order. When asked the waitress had no idea of the daily specials which further delayed placing the order. We all went for main courses only and drinks. At 9pm we enquired where our food was and were told "can't you see we're busy" by a rather rude waitress. Our food finally arrived at 9:25pm with no apology. The food was nice, though nobody asked if everything was to our liking. When presented with the bill it contained an £18 optional service charge, which we declined to pay. Our party of 7 has been here many times before but this will be our last. It may pay to check how busy they are before you book

Sticky tables - very unpleasant. Service ok, staff were friendly enough but slow to clear table after each course. Food nowhere near proper Italian, each traditional dish ordered was a poor replica of the original in both texture & flavour. Quite noisy & generally a bit scruffy with dog-eared menus. We were all disappointed & wouldn't visit again, such a shame as with a refresh & a revised menu could be really good at this location. Needs a Gordon Ramsay-style overhaul!

Great food,value for money.Staff was nice too

Went on Friday the 5th as a birthday treat. Had to wait over an hour for the main dish. Started with the bruschetta, which turned out to be 1 small piece of bread with tomatoes on the plate and not on the bread. Looked a sorry state for nearly £6. I then had the mixed grill and for £22 it was pretty forgettable and bland. The peppercorn was just cream, couldn’t taste the peppercorns at all. The steak was grisly and tasteless. Very disappointing…..

Lovely setting great meal , just wish restaurants would not put gratuities included in the bill, I’m Happy to leave tips without this

We had a fantastic time there yesterday. The food was exceptional very tasty, freshly cooked/baked and the waitress is a real caring, friendly and funny lady. You can see she loves her job and cares about the restaurant. Thank you Team for the great experience ❤️

Started well, the calzone starter was very good. Unfortunately the main tagliatelle gambian was terrible. The pasta was not cooked in salted water. The dish was dry no sauce at all. Not even a drizzle of olive oil. This was supposed to be spicy with chilli but the dish was very bland and I was disappointed.... My partners pasta meal was also bland and the pasta poorly cooked. My friends meals were better which was good. The deserts were nice and good portions so this helped to make up for the poor mains. Overall we had a good evening, the meal was very expensive for what we had, drinks very expensive. I probably wouldn't go back again....

First time here with friends, food was outstanding and the service by Taylor was just 5 star! We’ll definitely be going back!

Absolutely incredible food; we tried this restaurant after having great experiences at Mattoni's in Hampton, but this one blows it out the water. Insane portion sizes, genuinely the best Italian food we've ever had the pleasure to eat, impeccable service and a lovely, cozy setting to eat with comfortable seating, even for a big guy like me. 10/10, honestly cannot recommend enough.

I've got 2 young kids, one who is super active and always causing mayhem. I usually dread taking him out but at Mattonis, we can relax. The food is excellent, the atmosphere is great. We've been many times now and the kids absolutely love it. Not gonna lie, the kids menu looks so good, I always consider ordering from it for myself!! The staff is lovely, We've recommended and taken friends so many times!

Food and service were very good, however it was so noisy that we couldn't hear anything, not even when the waitress came over. It's clean, but it is definitely in need of a refurb. If you want tasty food, then go here, if you want to chat and have a catch-up with friends, probably not the place to go

What a find we wish we had found it sooner.

Popped in just for a drink a couple of weeks ago on our bikes. Lovely restaurant and awesome outdoor area.

We had a 60th birthday here last night with 18 people. All meals (starters and then mains) came out together, only staggered by how quickly the staff could walk to and from the kitchen, nothing was missing, the portions were massive and everyone said the food was delicious! Thank you!

It was OK. It was very busy but I asked for pepper and didn't get pepper, we asked for more water and didn't get more water. Not sure I'd bother again.

Hidden gem, Mattoni does what Frankie and Benny's thought it was doing. Great food, great prices, fantastic service, lovely atmosphere.

Went here for a family meal and the service was absolutely delightful couldn't have been any better Gabbi looked after us so well. The food is also really delicious and fantastic presentation, the kids loved all the food especially the create your own dessert.

We enjoyed an excellent family meal at your restaurant. The food choices were very good and arrived quickly and were hot. The meal potions were really big and plenty of very tasty options. Tailor made calzone was superb and huge. The mixed salad was really tasty too. The pudding choices were just right- something for everyone. It’s obvious that everyone that works there is passionate about providing a good food experience. We were not disappointed. Service couldn’t have been better. Brilliant waitress- Taylor.!! We will definitely come again and would recommend that if you’re reading this, give it a visit. Thank you all.

Very friendly service, lovely prawn starter, and a chicken pizza without barbecue sauce. The onion dressing on the mixed leaf salad was very tasty, too. Had a lovely evening.

We use matttoni on a regular basis and sometimes the food can be a bit hit n miss we booked a table for six o’clock we was a bit early but that was no problem we still went to the table in the corner which was ok for us but trying to get someone’s attention to get a drink was quite hard but eventually they did come.we ordered anti pasta sharing for two which was only enough for one person and at £13.95 I really would have like more of everything that was on there especially the bread and meat for that price I have to say what we did have was nice just not enough.ordered mains the pizza had way to much pasatta on the base made the pizza really soggy and spoilt the taste of the pizza I had the chicken in mushroom and creamy sauce which was ok but the chicken had some red bits in the chicken like veins which put me off also it come with just potatoes it needed some veg in that dish as well for the price.had to get up and ask the waitress if they could bring dessert of ice cream for our little one as no one came over to see if we wanted a dessert so for us it wasn’t the best but I do have to say normally the food and service is good and we do like your restaurant we will be back and hopefully next time it will be like it normally is very nice

Really lovely atmosphere (we felt a little bit like we were in the Med!) The service was excellent. The food was good but not outstanding but it was very competitively priced. We will definitely go back.

We have been here on numerous occasions, this time the service was particularly slow, we are used to it being busy, but to wait so long between courses especially with children being present, keeping them entertained with walks round the block. The Meals were hot when they came, one of the meals Beef Ragatoni had fat on each piece of the beef, so was not so delicious. We feel the staff were not so good as usual, due to the volume of people, hardly any interaction, a round of drinks that we asked for never appeared. On paying the bill I did air my views, I believe £20 was taken off the bill.

So fortunate to live up the road from this restaurant! Food is always amazing, particularly the pizzas! Booking is essential as this place does get busy, but I can only conclude that is because of the brilliant reputation this place has 🙂

One word - Phenomenal. I am by no means an Italian restaurant fan, I'm more of a Mexican kinda girl, but this restaurant is splendid. Food was absolutely faultless, service was also very good, and the BREAD?! GORGEOUS 🍞. 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
