He was so knowledgeable about the menu, it was clear he actually enjoyed the food which is a good sign, and recommended drinks that paired excellent with our meal. don't know how the reviews are so good the chicken was disgusting rubber , didn't eat a bit! can't believe this is a restaurant, this was me first trying a takeaway and it was rotten. Only at the chips rice and sauce, salt and chilli chicken and crispy chilli chicken chewy stringy rubber

Due to my child's wedding in Korea, I stayed at a hotel and ate at the Mate Hari restaurant for a few days. The staff (Chinese and Malay) were friendly and I was able to enjoy the food. I also ate the right food.

Not only is the food really good ..I had a delivery tonight 11/1/25 and the young woman was the nicest person ever to deliver food .

Love it, never had a bad meal. The service could be faster but the staff are nice, if it's busy, don't plan to go to an appointment soon after you order, it's not a bad thing if you want a lazy meal and a chat! But if you're in a hurry, maybe go elsewhere 😊. The food is authentically Chinese apparently, my friend lived in Hong Kong for a long time and she was impressed, she said that it was the closest she'd had to the some of the food that she ate all the time over there. Definitely recommend, especially for special occasions, it's a lovely modern spacious restaurant so good for large parties as well as couples and families. ⚠️ When the menu says that the food is hot, they mean it! So just be aware! 😂

First time ordering, wasn't sure what to expect but hoped on the nice appearance of restaurant, prices, for good quality. Food was rather tastless, meat was rubbery and not overly warm. Portion levels are so so - certainly not value for money. Only positives from our experience was quick, pleasent service. Sorry for the review, but for the price, we had hoped it would of been better!

Ordered a takeaway tonight and it took over a hour and a half to arrive. Unfortunately it wasn't very hot, luke warm. Fried rice was clumped as it fell out the small container, definitely not stir fried. We ordered the breast of chicken chow mein, chicken was dry and not 1 mushroom. The chips were luke warm like the rest of the meal. Not ordering again from here. If your really busy don't take orders as the standards are definitely effected.

Chicken noodle soup was bland and tasteless. Nothing to it, it’s as if there’s a shortage of spring onion, only saw 1 sad little slice in my portion. The soup broth lacked any flavour whatsoever, pretty much boiled chicken water and noodles. It wouldn’t be hard for anyone to do better than that at home. Honey garlic ribs were very chewy and overcooked. It’s a lot of money to pay for a very below average quality meal. Don’t waste your time or your money. Although I hope Mata Hari do up their game… I did used to get a good meal from here.

Had dinner here on Monday. Staff were brilliant, very attentive. Food was tasty and plentiful, the restaraunt was spotless and busy enough for a Monday night. Would definitely go back. The honey chilli wings were delicious. Duck with plumb sauce was good and my friend enjoyed his chicken curry. Very reasonably priced aswell.

In with friends, asked for the main meal to be slightly delayed so everyone could finish the starters, satay on the skewer arrived, shriveled and tight, very poor, should not have been served under any circumstance. it's all about the money for them now,

Just ordered a chicken chow mein for the first time and I'm disgusted 🤮 chicken is slimy and tasteless...expected better from a restaurant. Wanted to try for ages, won't be ordering delivery nor will I be sitting in 😒 honestly, anyone that can say the chow mein is decent here is speaking rubbish. Slimy tasteless chicken , almost as tho it was placed in the container after the Noodles were cooked. Don't recommend

Prices have increased and portions have got smaller. Staff have very bad habit of wiping down table when your still eating. Counted 4 bits of chewy meat in beef curry and chicken balls were all stodgy batter and no chicken this will be our last visit here I'm afraid, there are plenty of other eateries to choose from. Sad really as it used to be a great restaurant 🙄

In East Kilbride on business . Stumbled across this place while out for a walk . Very nice restaurant and the food is exceptional . Service is very good . Very busy for a Sunday night at 6pm .

A lot lost in translation, lot of of cases we were thought dishes would come with rice /noodle but when bill came, we were charged for extras ..asked for one egg fried rice and got charged for 3 !!! Really need some with clearer grasp of English :)

Love this fabulous restaurant. Great food, great service and fantastic value for money. Been many a time and cannot fault it. My favourite dishes are the soft shell crab starter and their mixed seafood mains, but I've eaten my way around the menu and loved every dish. Oh... Go hungry... the portions are generous.

The service was good and all the assistants were very helpful. We had the mixed starter which looked as if it had been pre-prepared and my special Chow Mein wasn't the best, it was warm with 2 prawns and the chicken parts had a spongy texture. The quality of the food has deteriorated I feel over time. It's a pity.

A wonderful authentic Malaysian cuisine! The chefs are from our hometown. It just makes me feel like home.

Last time I was here; I told the staff member my allergies, and as I was listing them he cut me off with "yeah, yeah, yeah, got it" then low and behold; I find that they had given me one of the allergens I told them I couldn't have. They did not charge me for the food poison, but I would prefer not to have my food spiked in the first place. Also, watch out; there is oyster sauce in their vegetable dishes.

Bit of a shame really, used to be very good but we didn't have a good experience at all. The place was very cold despite repeated requests to turn off the air conditioning, my main meal consisted of 6 prawns and with 2 half cooked onions roughly chopped. Ordered an Irish Coffee, to try and warm up, it came with no whisky in it.

After reading the reviews I thought I'd give it a go as the food sounded amazing. I got a takeaway. To start with I had Salt n Chill ribs. They were tiny chunks which isn't an issue but at that size they need to be cooked right. They were completely over cooked, burnt, chewy and to be honest tasted like they were last nights that had simply been heated up again. Main course was Singapore fried rice. Initially I thought I was on to a winner however by the 2nd forkful the taste of salt was overwhelming and I like my salt!!! I could only manage a few more mouthfuls before giving up. I also had banana fritter for pudding. 3 good sized portions let down by being extremely soggy. If I had been sitting in, I would definitely have said about the ribs. However I doubt they would have served this kind of standard to a sit in diner. Definitely not a takeaway I would hurry back to.

Good food, beware the spicy chicken noodle soup, it is spicy

Wow this is an excellent Asian restaurant! Really nice, bright and clean dinning area with very good waiters. The food came out quick and it was really good. We had spicy dishes and they were definitely spicy unlike most Asian restaurants we go to. Definitely a 5* and we will definitely be back next time we are in the area 💯

I am originally from Malaysia- these foods i can make been there 3 times yesterday rolls were dripping with oil green curry not good and behoon saturated with ouyster sauce - that gave me diahorrea! I am not returning! Service was good

The chicken satay skewers gad hardly any chicken and was so dry it was inedible, when this was pointed out to the waitress she didn't say a word also the coffee was like hot milk, so disappointing as it was fine the last time I dined there, shame it was a 50th birthday celebration

Honestly, I don't see what others rave about. Food portions were small (get a LOT more in a home delivery), and this was off the full priced menu. Service was OK until they were obviously wanting to close at 9.30pm (we only arrived at 8.30pm). We just finished eating, and they were cleaning the condiments on our table ! Won't be in a rush to return.

The service was amazing! The staff was attentive and seemed happy to be there. The food was wonderful! The dining room was comfortable with a few high back booths, and a few sofa type benches. There was a wide selection of food choices. I'm so happy we found the restaurant. It was some of the best food we had on our vacation.

A favourite staple of my household. Have never once been let down by this restaurant. Good portion, staff always friendly, food always on time. Any other Chinese is a spurious imitation of this legendary establishment.

Me and my mum have eaten at the restaurant 3 times in the past few months, the food is excellent, the staff are very polite, the restaurant is clean. We decided to order takeaway tonight (27/08/23) instead, and again, the girl on the phone was very polite and although there was about an hour wait for the food the food was lovely. However, the delivery driver was very rude. When I answered the door to pay £30.90 for my food I offered him a £20 note, £8 in coins and the remainder in silvers. He proceeded to wave my hand away, look at me with an aggressive expression, and say in a rude, condescending manner "Count. It." I said "Excuse me?", he repeated, I responded by telling him "he has no manners" and "a please would be nice, and you're very rude". He responded "whatever". I counted the coins in my hand and said "there's the rest" and off he went. This particular driver I am 99% sure I have encountered before in East Kilbride, likely for a different restaurant. And if my memory serves me correctly he was rude to myself before though I cannot say which restaurant he's delivered for previously. As a heads up for those who find this review, the man is South Asian I believe, I would guess Indian as he wore a turban so likely a Sikh. He is in his fifties I'd guess and is small in stature; and very tall in ego. I should also mention my mum confronted his behaviour also and he yelled he's "been here before" in regard to the coin issue. In other words, he already had a preconceived notion that since we were handing him a fair bit of change that we were attempting to dodge the bill... I am not a Sikh, but if I were I would find that behaviour absolutely disgraceful.

Hot and sour soup was lovely very good

Fantastic 2 course meal (too full to have dessert). But intend to next time. I opted for the mussels in a spicy sauce, very generous portion and super delicious as was the fillet beef volcano. Great choice of menu. Lovely relaxed atmosphere with friendly staff.

Went for business lunch to this restuarant, it was excellent food, staff everything excellent. Recommend to anyone.

1st time wee visited after hearing great things about food and service and they didn't disappoint. Wee had a 3 course meal and a couple of drinks and price was outstanding for the quality of food. They were very attentive and back to the food every mouthful was a delight 😋 to top it off my fiance proposed that evening and they made it extra special recording the proposal and kindly took pictures so wee can remember and look back on that special occasion wee highly recommended this place and look forward to returning to this establishment.

Have been getting food here fairly regularly for a couple of years now. Generally no complaints, good portions. Always thought it was a bit much that they charge so much extra for prawn crackers when ordering about £15 of food(anywhere else in 40 years has included them) but most recently after ordering decided to ask as was last customer in and leftover crackers going in bin anyway, but guy refused to give us any and was really rude. Maybe we were cheeky for asking but you spend a lot of money in a place over a long period, something that costs pennies to make thrown in as a good gesture doesn't seem like a big ask. Doubt I'll be back now.

Just got a take away from here total waste of money went In bin chips tasted like plastic reheats I got chicken with bamboo shoot n waterchestnuts chicken was slimey dish was over powered in garlic couldn't taste anything else the waterchestnuts and bamboo shoots were all black and the onions were green whole lot went in bin won't be returning Called up to complain and tell them the veg etc was rotten said they would offer me a discount nxt time when I said I won't be returning he said aw well I mentioned I'd be doing review his reply was awright OK lol shocking all round Rotten food makes ppl ill get a grip !!

The food was OK very salty. Ordered cocktails they were really bad and had to send back. The actual restaurant itself is a strange set up looks good from the front though is like a canteen inside with no atmosphere. Service was good and staff really nice.

Food was very poor, service was quick, but food gave me a rotten stomach as well as a case of the "green apple splatters" in the night and much of next day. Way to many toilet trips for my liking. I wasn't drinking so couldn't even blame the bevy. Not sure if it was MSG or what was the issue. It didn't taste great. Not much in the way of options for Gluten Free and pretty much none for Vegan. I'm neither of these but some of our party were and they struggled with lack of choice for those types.
