Masala Express in Barnet

I was waiting for friends from Mumbai when I made the mistake of visiting the toilet. It was a Turd World explosion. Being Indian, I complained and, being Indian, the Indian Staff, on Visas, chucked me out.

We ordered a selection of curry and side dishes last night and it was really delicious and so fresh. Thoroughly enjoyed thank you

They accepted my order I waited for 1 hour 20 minutes and then they cancelled, i ordered again and they took 1 more hour to deliver, food was cold. Not recommended.

Unfortunate and disappointing experience. You imagine you use a Delivery service, be given a time (which the restaurant can dictate I’m sure) Then leave the comfort of your own home and WALK to the place and collect the food and wait a little more when you arrive to pick up the food that should have been DELIVERED to you. The lamb chops I had were below par, they were dry and over powered with a lemon like flavour. Clearly had been cooked long ago in comparison to the rest of the food. The BUTTER chicken I had was again bizarrely tangy! Why on earth a citrus like taste from what you distinctly wish to be a creamy dish. Hugely disappointed, dissatisfied and to be honest a ruined appetite. The gent in house was sincere enough and clearly over run and understaffed but there was no effort to compensate or make up for the fact I WENT AND COLLECTED A DELIVERY!!! It’s unacceptable.

The previous time the food was much better. This time it was dry and chewy. Apart from that the food arrived late. The manager did call me to inform me it would be late but I had already waited 45 mins for it as it was. I ordered just before 4pm and it arrived at 5.30pm. I would've let it go but the manager delivered it to me and in a very berating manner told me I would have to go downstairs in future if I ordered again. I'm afraid i don't support businesses that treat their customers like cattle.

Lugar pequeño y acogedor. Variedad de comida en el menú. Tenía seekh kebab y roti. Probado increíble y la comida era fresca. A un precio razonable! Personal amigable.

Comimos en este lugar unas 4 veces en una semana. La comida es excelente, a un precio muy razonable y buena cantidad. las envolturas de kabab son enormes. Los mejores platos que tuvimos fueron balti, biryani, kababs, aloo palak, nihari y haleem. el haleem y el balti estaban entre los mejores que he tenido en ninguna parte.

Maten og servicen var topp. Med tanke på at stedet er det eldste i området, 16 år er lang tid i denne bransjen, kunne interiøret vært bedre. Kommer gjerne hit igjen.

Basically, I visited as I was looking for a spicy snack after a couple of beers - glad to see the Masala Express open, and quite busy. Food good, and I would try a full meal if I go back.

Great staff and side step to the obligatory curry menu - curries baked with lemon for example. the takeaways were flying out the door. brilliant host/manager, love;y waiters! go!

Wir waren zum zweiten Mal in diesem Schnellimbiss - das erste Mal hatten wir etwas to take away...alles ok - heute setzten wir uns ins Lokal - ewas ungemütlich aber eben Schnellimbiss und bestellten eine Lammkeule (6 Pfund) ein Lamcurry (6 Pfund) und Gemüse-Nan. Dazu bekamen wir Reis - das Nan war zwar ohne Gemüse, aber wir sagten nichts. Beim Bezahlen verlangte die "Frau des Hauses" (die im Übrigen mit ihrem Handschuh sowohl im Putzwedel als auch im Essen fuchtelte) 25 Pfund - auf die erstaunte Frage, wieso 25 Pfund - alles in allem hatte 14,50 gekostet, mischte sich ihr Mann ein und erklärte, dass der Beilagenreis extra berechnet würde mit 2x 6 Pfund.Klarer Nepp - er ließ sich nicht davon abbringen. Wir sind öfters in der Nähe in London, aber hier sicher nicht mehr.

Masala Express continue to surprise me with the quality and constancy of the food. I have been ordering food from this little gem almost 2 to 3 times a month for past six months. My favourites are saag paneer, tarka daal naan bread and lamb nihari. I also like condiment sauces with the delivery. I don't normally write reviews but I felt it is important that I write some thing. “bon appétit”

didn't bring everything I ordered and when I rang up they said they would bring the remaining food. Rang an hour ago and still not here :(

Read a few reviews thought I would give them the benefit of the doubt, wish I hadn't it was far too oily

So it all started when I thought I'm hungry and running up and down in a hospital does take it's tole. Everything seemed ok untill my delivery arrived...... 10 mins Late the food tasted good so I guess I can forgive for the lateness, although my wings looked more like diced chicken breast..... they where😐 However they was nice.. What they will never be forgiven for is the appalling service recieved from the delivery man!! He was awful and really puts the restaurant to shame! •failing to deliver directly to the ward as requested in notes......... I have patients to see to lucky enough to get a break. Further more his Attitude towards me whilst telling me Forcefully to come down to the main entrance because he has a push bike 😒. Left me speachless He had forgotten my naan bread and brought me a popadon broken in a shop carrier bag...... 😒 • On return to bring me my naan he was high rude towards my colleague at reception who was outraged and discussed by the language which he attempted to mutter however patients over heard and was also discusted. Writing this review is a shame as I really enjoyed the food however the attitude from the delivery man spoilt my whole experience.

It doesn't look that appealing from the outside - and you probably need to overlook the state of the place - but once you do - what you get is great food, great service - and authentic food at a great price.

The food tasted old, especially the nan bread. Very disappointing & also 20 minutes late even though they're a 5 minute walk away

Even after repeatedly telling them not to use too much oil in the dishes they served all items oily..

The Korma chicken sauce was liquid, had no coconut and was spicy when it's meant to be mild. The burger didn't look great but it tasted good. The fries that came with it were so stiff my fork struggled to grab them. The coke that was delivered was 50cl instead of 1.5L

It was totally delicious and plenty of it. Really good value

A portion of chickpea curry, sag curry with a great plain nan with salad and chili with a drink for £6.50 Superb

The food was very nice and delivered on time. However I noticed a few bits of chicken in my butter paneer. They were very nice and sent a fresh one out very quickly. If you are vegetarian, like me, maybe put that in the comments before you order just to be sure the same doesn't happen. Very polite and food was great.

Hi, all the plastic boxes had a layer of orange fat on top of them, for reasons I do no understand, and they were generally very greasy and unedible. The worst thing, however, is that I found a piece of plastic in the lentils!

Butter chicken and butter paneer were outstanding. Naan was a bit plain.

Food awful. How do you make lamb so tough? Like chewing an old boot. Also arrived cold and had to literally pour grease off top before edible.

Food was good! The paratha was too heavy, thick ??? for us. If was a bit lighter and the colour seems very dark - is that the flour. Thanks

Sabrosa comida de alta calidad que tiene un paquistaní casa sabor casero y es razonable.Teníamos el plato suave cordero que era aún bastante picante con arroz pilau y un lado de okra - todo estaba delicioso. Ah, y no olvides un naan directamente desde el tandoor!Recomendado

Korma- didn't taste like korma Delivery- the delivery man could not be bothered to come to our door, we literally had to spend 5 minutes trying to explain to him he was at the wrong place The restaurant offer of a free veg dish was not received !

The curries had great taste but far too much oil. Naan bread was flat and had no air or fluffiness to it - disappointing

The curry was really watery and bland in terms of flavour, it was just a little spicey. we felt our curries although different flavours all looked and tasted the same. And the naan was okay but nothing to write home about . Bahji's were just spicey and very oily lacking flavour again . Overall the meal was disappointing . Hate to leave a bad review for a business but im just being honest with my experience .i sadly wouldnt order from here again

We found this curry house by accident, looks more like a cafe than restaurant, they have a hot cabinet with dishes ready to eat in or take away

The popadom was good, the rice was passable and the delivery man was nice. The rest is going in the bin! Hence no stars for 'food quality' except the system insists on at least one. It was a delivery so why do they ask about 'restaurant service'?

I was sent the wrong order. I order butter chicken but received chicken jalfrezi. Their chef has changed and the Food quality is not the same.

The food wasen t fresh 1 quarter of each dises was pure oil, and i find a fish bone in the neal but I didn't order any fish

Accidentalmente encontré este lugar, ya que estábamos buscando una cena temprano y nos alegramos mucho de haberlo hecho. El muchacho que nos sirvió no podría haber sido más agradable. Explicó algunos de los curries y dejaron probar uno antes que pedimos.. Cenamos en pero no excelente... El curry era muy, muy sabroso y abundante fueron más él nos ofreció si queríamos...me encantó todo... recomendaría este lugar a cualquiera que esté buscando una gran comida curry.

The food was really bad. We ordered chicken biryani and it was the worst i have ever taste in my life. My friend ordered garlic naan but it tasted like just normal one.

This restaurant is appalling.This has got to be the worst service I have ever encountered. It's not worth taking the risk of them being incompetent/making a mistake and then with holding your food and money. I pre-ordered for a set time whilst at work, with my phone on the 'Do Not Disturb Setting'. The owner/driver delivered my food early, and tried calling me but the setting meant that the call was rejected. I called up to explain the situation and was screamed at by a man, who refused to deliver my food. He insisted that the restaurant didn't do pre-orders despite being a standard just-eat service. After being shouted down the phone some more, I called the just-eat team. They were also shouted at and the restaurant refused to give me my money back.

Ordered and paid for a prawn dish and got a different chicken dish.

Worst Meal I have ever had, The Keema Curry had no chilli's in it and the Chicken Tikka Massala tasted like tomato soup and the Sag aloo I can only describe as something that tastes and looks like something my dog would deposit on the grass. The food used to be good here but they obviously have changed chef and not for the better. We have ended up binning the food and ordering from somewhere else

Food was OK. But they refused to deliver to my apartment door though, meaning I had to walk for 5 minutes to meet him at the roadside in his car which kind of defeats the idea of a delivery service.

Delivery time was set to be delivered in around 45 mins and was delivered after well over an hour

The lamb korma tasted almost musty. Wasn't sure if it was fresh. The pilau rice was chunky in places and i was unable to break it down. The delivery time was excellent for an early Saturday delivery however although the takeaway driver buzzed, he did not answer when I asked who it was which made me rather uncomfortable and he said "he got let in so didnt think it was important to answer". He was also in a giant rush to leave so i could not question him further. Will not use again due to food quality.

Lamb Paya was a pile of bone and Fat. Absolute rubbish will never use again.

Order came 30 mins late and also wrong. I ordered more naans then rotis they sent me more rotis than naans. Food I would probably give a 2 out of 10.

The delivery was on time and the delivery man was very nice. Really liked the peshwari naan, a bit different from others I've had before. Masala was spicy with some sweet, slightly Heinz tomato soupy, but I quite liked it!! Tried them as they deliver at lunch but would order from them again.

NIce family run takeaway! Polite and helpful. Satisfied with the service even though the food came nearly 2hrs late due to chelsea football game blocking the roads, not their fault but could have planned ahead and taken the back roads like most locals do. However slightly disappointed with the quality of Nihari and Haleem compared to the standard of an actual authentic taste I have been use to eating for many years. The manager promised to make improvements, just hope he follows through and best of luck.

The potato curry was smelling like s..t. Called the restaurant, the guy says they make it fresh everyday. Wont be recommending to anyone.... the worst food I have ever had. Please do not order as you will waste your money...

The tikka masala dressing was almost water. Very dissapointing

Ordered the meal for 3.50pm turned up at 3pm, probably the worst Indian Meal I have had, our two dishes tasted identical despite being different curries. It was bland and not tasty, wouldn't use again.

Good food and authentic Pakistani taste specially haleem , saag gosht , pakora and keema . Chicken karahi was sweet to taste which spoilt it but the quality of the meat was good . Keep the standard up hopefully .

Pedimos vegetales Madrás y paneer Masala y fue muy decepcionante . zanahorias lata y no Gobi . Lo raro sabor y tuvimos que parar para comer tanto como se puso enferma. El naan y popadoms era mejor.

We ordered a chicken korma and 3 naan breads. When the food arrived the korma was spicy and very nutty tasting nothing like a korma. When we rang the restaurant to complain they were rather rude on the phone. After a long discussion they agreed to send a less spicy korma and another naan bread to apologise. When the second korma arrived it was still not edible as now it was really watery and the chicken looked foul. The driver was also incredibly rude and we did not receive our free naan bread and the others were now cold. Do not order from this restaurant

Just minutes from Ibis Hotel this pub is a vibrant pub which feels like a local rather than a place for tourists. Meal menu was terrific and quite extensive. Highly recommended

This is the worst Indian food I have ever tasted, the two curries were drowned in massive amounts of oil and the potato curry was cold/luke warm, The naan bread tasted stale. I called to kindly tell them it wasn't to standards advising I didn't want to be rude...However the manager told me he spoke to the chef and there is nothing wrong with the food! Obviously the chef would say that! Awful customer service. Wasn't offered a refund... He just told me next time I order I will get a free curry! Yeah right, as if I would order from them again...Feel sick

I loved to food, very fresh and authentic... Real Indian and Pakistani food home made just the way I like it... Keep it up guys... Will be visiting very soon.
