This was my £14 falafel salad. Chef you should be ashamed of yourself. This was the cheapest bagged lettuce accompanied by 5 burned falafels. I sent it back saying they were burnt as they tasted burnt and looked burnt. You returned them to me saying that's how they should look. Owners please please employ a chef who has some pride in the food they are sending out, and respect for your customers. Look at this plate of food for £14, it is dreadful.

We recently stayed at Highlands End and decided to try the on site bar/restaurant. Visited a couple of times. First time one very hot and sunny afternoon for a pint sat outside. Bonus it was happy 'hour' 3pm-6pm! Good choice of real ale and cider. 2 pints for £8.50 so not overpriced like many campsite bars. 2nd visit was the wet Saturday morning for breakfast. Both went for the Dorest breakfast @ £9.95 each and 2 coffees. Staff seemed a bit dis-interested, would rather talk to 'regulars' than serve people waiting to order? Food took an age to some (about 40 minutes) and there was hardly anyone in there? However, it was all freshly cooked, hot (including the plate) and really tasty. Loved the look of the bar/restaurant, with the fire department theme!

We arrived in desperation on a wet and windy Saturday night as a group of 27 just 30 minutes before the kitchen closed. Staff were very friendly and accommodating and we all had hot food within twenty minutes of arriving. The chef even came out to see us. Very impressed. It’s not Michelin star food but it does what it says on the tin.

We're regulars at West Dorset Leisure Holidays sites (WDLH). We've been 6 years on the trot to one of their sites. They have been an exemplary business and a pleasure to deal with. This was our second stay at Highlands end and second chance for Martin's Bar. First up, it's a welcoming place. Laid back atmosphere. Great if you want to neck a few pints whilst the kids play outside in the convenient play park, or if you prefer there are selections of board games to take to your table for older kids. Generally the food is good. The fish and chips my wife had and the scampi and chips from the kids menu for our kids were all great. Mushroom tagliatelle with basil and garlic though... All that could be tasted was the coconut milk, not a hint of garlic or basil anywhere. I'm sure if I hadn't gone for one of the token vegetarian options and had opted for a burger I'd have been in for a treat. It took 45 minutes from ordering until the food hit out table. Desert was disappointing. The menu had a pavlova and cheesecake of the day. I asked what they were to be told they didn't have either. I tried to order the brownies instead, and was told all they had for dessert was what was in the display cabinet (one cake, 2 choux buns, 3 tarts). There was a freezer cabinet with small tubs of ice cream.... Then I asked for a decaf Americano and was told the only decaf they had was instant. If you want "something" and chips, a few nice pints, and a local ice cream and don't mind the speed of service then all is good. But if you're looking for something compares to a typical family chain restaurant you'll be disappointed.

We went there for lunch. There were only 6 or 7 items on the menu, which were all with chips. I had ham, egg & chips. The ham looked as though it had come out of a packet you would find in a supermarket. The egg was over cooked. The chips were like oven chips.

Stayed in our camper van for three nights and decided to try this place out as we didn’t want to venture further afield. The food was terrible. We ordered burgers, beef brisket and two children’s chicken nuggets and chips with beans. The menu was really poor and obviously catered for a traditional British family of campers. We returned one meal but could have returned four and should have. The burger was dry, cheese non existent, salad was lettuce leaves with some sort of balsamic glaze shoved on it. The bun felt like it had been frozen and then defrosted. The chips tasteless. It felt unloved and felt like they were profiteering from customers like ourselves. Terrible! Terrible place!

Read so many good reviews about Sunday Lunch ... so disappointing! Meat was tasteless, potatoes under cooked and not crispy, cabbage very watery, Yorkshire's flat and doughy etc etc, only thing on the plate worth eating was the cauliflower cheese. If I could give these guys a ten I would!!! Some of our family booked a camper van pitch at Highlands as our original plan was to have a small family party/gathering at the van. However weather put an end to that idea so we called Martins For assistance. We were a group of 8 with a wheelchair and someone with Motor Neuron with us, plus we had all traveled from all over Uk to be together for birthdays and quality family time. Martins Team were exceptional!!! From the first phone call they offered us space without question, said we could stay there as long as we liked and no issue with some party bits and pieces. We also had a silent disco with us to use and they were more than happy for us to use this. The staff when we were there, couldn’t do enough for us. They were so friendly, nothing was an issue and they truly helped make a memorable weekend. Thank you to you all!

Very expensive for a place to take families to eat, check the menu before ordering. Chicken goujons were £2.00 each, same for the fish. £8.00 or £8.50 per portion, lots of batter, not much fish, shame, could be ideal but they do have a captive audience.

Food took an hour to come. Then the quality of food was bad for the price. Veggie burger tasted very cheap and bland despitecosting £16! Childrens Mac and cheese had little flavour with no garlic bread and the dirty fries didn't have proper bacon on just a few sprinkles of meat shreds and over cooked dry onion rings. As for the home made colslaw , it was bland , dry and hard. The dessert menu didn't impress either with small slices of cheesecake at £7 each

How dare you! I have just been treated like a piece of dirt by the young guy with the beard at your bar. I came in at lunch for a couple of beers all good . I booked a table at 6.45 on the phone. I asked for a table outside. I was told you had loads of space. And booked my name for 7.30. I arrived at 7.30 and was ordered back to the foyer. You clearly have a different process in the evening. I was made to feel embarrassed. I then explained I had rung for a table outside and booked for 7.30. We don’t take bookings outside . Clearly there was a booking but he was trying to be difficult. I thought I had spoken to a lady, just driven 4.5 hours. That’s funny he said no ladies have been here. You will get no further wider sales from me. 2020 is the year we all want to forget so my family and I were really looking forward to coming to Dorset, our first southern costal holiday. Staying at Highlands End, with its amazing views and short walks to the beach.... It was perfect.....apart from Martins Bar. Our second night in we went for a basic pasta dish, lasagne and pizzas. I booked a collection time (1930) but waited until 1945hrs until the food arrived. Now I'm fine with this because it was busy and I expected a delay. When the food arrived it was hot..... so far so good. The food was enjoyable, but nothing spectacular. Now here's where it falls down.....The menu is titled 'Our new Britalian blend', but the only thing I could see that was remotely British were the chips. For a costal resort I expected to see fish & chips, locally caught and so on. Unfortunately they're no such choices and you're left with pizza, pasta or 2 salad options.Dorset raves about its local food industry, but somewhere along the culinary route, Martins Bar was left out of the journey.I called to check that I wasn't missing anything.... after all the website says 'We have a new Italian menu alongside daily specials and British classic'. The lady told me they 'sometimes' do specials like fish & chips () but not at the moment. A costal restaurant that does fish and chips as a special?? Wow! So no specials, no British classics, no excitement. This place has the potential to be so much more, but until then we'll be venturing to nearby Bridport and Lyme Regis.

Ate here a couple of times on our recent trip to Highlands End. At the time of booking there was a full menu in place, however, prior to our stay the menu appeared to have been altered to an Italian theme. This wasn't an issue but it would have been nice to have a bit more choice, I'm not sure why they couldn't have left the original menu in place, albeit reduced perhaps. The food we had was good, no issues at all. We ordered via the app as they suggested we do, again, this was fine, easy to use. It was disappointing to see it so quiet, not sure why it wasn't busier, it's hard going for the leisure industry at the minute so I'd hope people staying on the site do go and support the restaurant/bar. The staff were good too - there was one busy evening where they all looked rushed off their feet but did a good job under the circumstances.

We had Sunday carvery on a very wet and windy February day. Martin's was cosy and welcoming, a Palmers gold on draught and a generous and delicious roast. Choice of 3 meats and so many vegetables that I didn't have room on my plate to try them all. One thing I do want to know and that is how did chef do the swede? I'm still thinking about it, it was so good. As was the cauliflower cheese! And the parsnips. All of it really!

So thought we would give the carvery another go having been in September and deciding it was just ok. Having been to some other local eateries for carvery and very much enjoying we decided we owed Martin's Bar another try. One child disliked her carvery so much last time that she chose something else, a burger, and thoroughly enjoyed it. It did look good in all fairness. The rest of us had carvery. Unfortunately the meats we had were very dry which hadn't happened on our first visit. The roast potatoes and roast parsnips were really nice, just like last time. It's nice to see proper roast parsnips rather than boiled. Lots of other veg. We tried the cauliflower cheese dubiously having not been happy with the cheese sauce last time and it was far improved this time. Still not a fan of the mini sausages or stuffing balls but you cant please everyone. This is pitched as the best roast on the coast. I think it still has a way to go to gain this title as there are some cracking carveries around but maybe that will come with time

The bar can feel a bit chaotic with lots of families and kids, and some mess can be left at tables after families leave which was not quickly cleaned up. The food was good but basic pub grub, good menu with a range of choices.Ordering food and drinks was a nightmare, and seemed to change every night. There are long queues for this, and sometimes you had to queue separately for drinks and food meaning twice as long queuing. I spent 20-30 mins in each queue on a night and it did put you off going to the bar to get drinks or food. And changing the rules from one night to the next as to where things were ordered was annoying and confusing. We enjoyed quiz night, although some of the staff running it had not had anything to do with the questions and could not pronounce some of the words in the clues. Still after a glass of wine it was all good fun, and not to be taken too seriously.I would say that better organisation and perhaps more staff are needed to make ordering drinks and food quicker and then to have spare staff to clean tables would greatly improve customer experience. I will be visiting the camp site again and would be happy to go back to the bar, especially on quiz night, but we were put off on other nights because of the queues.

So last tuesday (18th) I seen a advertisement come up online and said to my friend shall we go along to the curry buffet at Martins bar. My friend mentioned aslong as mild curry is on offer as she cant have spicy. I looked at the advert and there was a picture with Turkey korma and chicken tikka on offer I thought perfect! When we got there we sat down to realise you have to pay extra for chips, popadoms, garlic bread etc.. not so much a buffet as we had thought. We paid for the curry buffet and then went over to where the buffet was. We were suddenly confused.. what I had seen in the picture earlier that day was not what was on offer atall! Instead was medium and very hot curry. Nothing mild atall we had to go for the Turkey Balti because we thought maybe that would be a safe bet. Lets just say it was a very uncomfortable dinner and the food was Luke warm. As we have realised Martin's bar are using old pictures to advertise we will certainly not be going to the curry night again, extremely disappointed.

We had a lovely family meal, 33 people, to celebrate our Nan’s birthday. We don’t get a chance to get together often. The carvery was really nice and we weren’t asked to leave our tables, for others to be seated, so it was really relaxed. Zoe was really helpful from making the booking to the final arrangements on the day. Well done everyone we will be back!

Went on Sunday for a family meal for my Nan’s 89th Birthday. Lovely lunch, served quite quickly bearing in mind there was over 30 of us. Had the tables for 2 hours but they kindly let us stay longer so we could all stay together. Very good service.

We went there with old neighbours from our former life, with a baby and 3 year old. We had pre-booked in view of iffy weather, but were able to have the toddler play on the nearby amusements. On arrival at the bar we were immediately and efficiently served with drinks, our table was shown (complete with high-chair) and the method of ordering food was explained. Again our carvery order was taken and the children's food portions were advised. I had beef and pork and as much vegetables as I wanted. All of it was very good indeed and instead of a pudding, I mistakenly asked for a large Americano coffee. The cup was massive, good coffee but huge! All the others cleared their plates, pronouncing it very good indeed. My wife had a salted caramel sundae, beautifully presented and delicious. As far as the service was concerned, nothing was too much trouble and I would describe this place as one of the most child and dog friendly establishments I have ever attended. We were not hurried out and were able to let the little boy play again on the swings and apparatus. The tables were cleared very promptly. All the staff without exception were polite and efficient.

Great bar with lovely spacious outside seating with play park for the kids. The sausages from the Dogs menu proved a great hit with our dog! We were self catering, so we only ate in the bar once but thoroughly enjoyed the loaded nachos & margarita pizza as well as many Gins from their extensive Gin selection! Lovely staff! The inside bar screens live football, so my husband was happy! Great bar to chill out in!

We used this place a few times to stop off for a drink or some food walking between West Bay and Eype. Really impressed with the cleanliness of the place and it’s very modern look. The food is much cheaper than some of the competition and has a wide range of drinks. This place is perfect if you have dogs or young children as they are well catered for. The caravan site is very quiet and has beautiful views.

I go to a club lunch held here once per month - usual turnout is around 32. And that is the problem; few restaurants in the Bridport area can cater for a fairly quick lunch followed by a presentation and all at a reasonable price.

We met some friends on the site as they were staying there for the weekend. All four of us plus our dog had an evening meal which we all enjoyed. The service was fine and the staff we had contact with were friendly and helpful. We completed some review cards at the time to express our satisfaction. This place is not advertised as fine dining so don’t expect it. They do however, provide a reasonable choice on their menu, we all had differing meals and all were very nice and decent size quantities. You don’t leave feeling hungry as is the case with some fine dining restaurants. The prices are reasonable in my opinion and will not break the bank. We certainly have no problem with using this place again in the future. The only down side for us, there are televisions at various points around the restaurant which were something of a distraction and made conversation more difficult than it should have been. However, this is basically a caravan, static van holiday camp and I guess as such you should expect TVs. When those who were apparently watching the telly in our area left, we asked the staff if they could turn the telly off which they did.

Very disappointing. At first it looked promising. Lovely and clean with a huge amount of Fire Service memorabilia (including 2 actual Fire engines!). Sadly it went down hill very quickly. Our group had booked a table for the Sunday Carvery. 6 Adults, 4 children and a baby. After being seated the children saw the soft play area (great we all thought) but you have to pay £3.50 per child per hour to use it! Seriously? I pay less to visit a full size soft play area. It is small and certainly didn't expect to pay more to use the facilities??

I came to Martins bar as I've never been here before and people had recommended it, myself and my dad brought my 20 month old son to try out the soft play which may I add waa very good and will be returning to it again as he loved it! Firstly we ordered drinks which when we tried were veey vinegary tasting, we took them back, the lady came across very rude and like she didnt want to be there, we had to have something else instead which was fine.. we then went into soft play, I had a prawn jacket potato, my dad had tuna jacket and my son fish and chips, the prawns were SOO soft and tasteless and just didn't taste right, the fish batter was bright yellow and when my son refused to eat anymore my dad tried it and he understood why mt son didn't want it he said it was awful, I am now very sick after having prawns today ( I haven't had anything else ) we felt like we had to take out plates to the bar because the whole time we were there not one person came in the room. The place was lovely and clean and very presentable but the food has put me off. I would have adressed this issue during our visit but some of the staff seemed unaproachable.

We went here to try and we were really impressed with the food the steak was cooked lovely just had to remind them about the onion rings lol the only thing I would say that ruined it was the amount of dogs in the restaurant all barking at each other or whimpering plus they had the large tv on playing the football apart from that it was great a bit like a glorified Wetherspoon and great choice on menu not badly priced between £12-£17 for meals

After 5 1/2 hours travelling. I was looking forward to a nice relaxing meal in the site restaurant. It's not really a restaurant as such. You find a seat, note the table number, order food, collect your cutlery, napkins from the server.

very average bar food. Don’t like the fact that you must queue up in the same queue as the people ordering their food so you can just get a pint it takes far to long. staff are slow behind the bar. I was getting very annoyed with people having their pet dogs in the restaurant the dogs were just yapping all the time.

Ok so we ordered one of each, when it arrived the beef was so so chewy the chicken was cubed and like white rubber. We did inform staff before leaving.

The chips are so perfect, as is the homemade coleslaw. The restaurant/bar is so clean & the memorabilia on the walls is fascinating, our 5yr old loved looking at all the different engines. Staff are lovely and helpful, overall a beautiful meal, highly recommend Martins.

Very good food, soft play area excellent. Plenty of parking. Loved the old fire engines on display in the restaurant. However, it took a very long time to get served initially, with staff walking past and ignoring us, and later, while the young lady taking her food order was clearly doing her best, it was obvious that she had not received proper training on the till.

We went for lunch here as we were looking for a cafe/restaurant locally which had children's soft play area facilties. They have indoor soft play and an outdoor play area with fantastic views across the adjacent countryside. We ordered our food and although it was very quiet during our visit, just 3 other customers in the restaurant, our food took quite a while to arrive. The food itself was adequate, what you would expect for the price paid and the clientele they would mainly cater for. Childs meal was almost equivalent in portion/size as an adults, Staff were polite and friendly and the restaurant, soft play and bar areas were clean and airy.

This was the only place open in the vacinity but it is an interersting place and serves good coffee with a range of cakes. Sitting on the veranda is a lovely experience. Bit on the pricey side.
