Atmospheric pub with rooms. Food was very good (pies, fish &chips and fish cakes were great). Complimentary hot drinks for breakfast. The room was clean (though smelled like the windows were never opened), bed was comfortable and clean. The bathroom was not in the newest state, plus the shower was leaking on the floor and the ventilation was not working. Heating was not working on demand (over 2 nights stay turned on randomly around 9pm only one night), the staff could not help though they were friendly. The kettle in the room had some leftover water.

I can only comment on the restaurant. After a somewhat harsh reception from a colleague, we were served by Elsa. She was just great and fast. We felt very welcome and well taken care of. The food was very good too. As tourists, it was a bit disappointing that the apple cider was not from Scotland ;). The wine recommendation was perfect as well. So make sure to check if Elsa is working that night and you’ll be fine. Thanks!!

Unfortunately nothing was ‘great’ except the location. The owners could do so much more with the quality rooms, service and food. The room - the bed and pillows were uncomfortable; no air conditioning so the windows had to be open on to the Main Street. Where each morning around 2am drunk people were shouting and swearing. Nothing on the menu arrived as described. Breakfast especially was awful.

Highly recommend dining here to our friends and family, and an atmospheric drink. Fireplace is lovely. Food is excellent, and a couple of very kind waiting staff. Our room was comfortable enough for one night too. That's why my rating is mixed. There was a front of house lady with dark hair who was very dismissive on arrival, and when coming down 10/15 minutes early for dinner her vibe was like we were an inconvenience because place was busy and Table not ready. However the front of house, possibly owner who checked us in he was pleasant enough and cracking jokes. We were also unhappy that we spend £100 for a night and we needed to pay £30 total for breakfast. My daughter is only 3 and ate minimal. Her breakfast did not equate to £10. Ours did, granted but unsure why breakfast isn't included in our stay or at least discounted like most places. Not accessibility friendly with spiral staircase, no lift and heavy doors but we managed okay. In room, bed a small double but is comfortable. Sofa bed was great for my toddler. Shower is great, room and bathroom very clean.

There's been a number of changes here, and sadly, this has affected the food and the service negatively. We generally go here 3 or 4 times a year and it's usually great value and a great atmosphere, etc. However, our last two visits have been well below their usual standard with cold food, poor servings and disappointing service. It's also strange, when there are vouchers available for discounted mains, the full menu isn't available. Thus has been the case many times so I suspect they are holding back on some menu choices (e.g. Duck) when discounts are available...

The first room 7 was very grubby, mould all around the lower part of the shower, broken blind in the bathroom, stains on the carpet, the food and service in the bar area was very good but clearly under staffed. The extractor fan in the bathroom was very noisy and had to be switched off. The breakfast was terrible, the only thing we could help ourselves to was drinks, there was no cereal, no yogurt, no fresh fruit, didn’t even have marmalade for toast. Was planning on having porage then a cooked breakfast but was told only one item. It seems like they want to limit you to as little as possible to save on costs. We paid £188.00 B&B. For the standard of room and breakfast was worth £80.00 at best. Would not return

Stayed here for 2 nights whilst visiting Loch Lomond. The hotel has rooms above a busy pub. The rooms are cosy and clean. Lots of stairs so don't bring heavy luggage. The pub is excellent, food delicious, I had sea bass which was very tasty. Service was good and very friendly staff. The draught beer selection was a bit disappointing, I like Doom Bar but was hoping for something with a bit more of a Scottish flavour. I was surprised how quiet the rooms were as we went to bed whilst pub was in full flow. The location was excellent, right next to the riverside marina and we had a long walk from the hotel along the Loch on Saturday. Balloch itself is a good base for exploring the area with several places to eat. A convenient, friendly and cosy place to stay. Final word is for the breakfast menu, beetroot hash cake, buttermilk pancakes, too many delicious choices, exceptional. Highly recommend

I was staying at Cameron House and booked Martin Wishart for my birthday. I have been to quite a few restaurants and had tasting menus so i was really excited particularly by the courses on this menu. when I stayed. (July 2017). Unfortunately it was really disappointing. The mackerel course was served cold - we asked whether it was meant to be cold and told no. The wagu beef quite frankly had the texture and taste of liver. When we pointed this out we were told "Ah but that is wagu beef it's different". I have had wagu beef at least a dozen times before and it certainly didnt taste like it did at MW. The staff were really nice and apologetic and made a minor adjustment to the bill, but it didn't make up for the dining experience. I wont be going back.

Our booking for celebration lunch took a bad turn due to a mix up. Booked for 3 online via iPhone for lunch at midday on Sunday. Due to time issues we phoned night before to confirm we could arrive at 12:30. On arrival we were advised booking was for 2 not 3 and we could not be accommodated as the restaurant is fully booked and the tables were set for 2.A very demeaning experience, after getting dressed up and travelling a distance, especially when we like the food at the restaurant, as can be seen by previous review and go along when we can. This experience shows a possible shortfall in the online booking system, as no confirmation email is sent, to enable review of booking. It may be better when booking to take screenshot, as confirmation, however if there is zero flexibility in number of covers then little point.

FABULOUS in every way!!!Sun 26 Nov, 12:30, x2 - Sunday LunchI am a regular at Cameron House, using the Boathouse as my 'local' from the Marina, and Great Scots Bar / Cameron Grill for "nights out", byt only my 2nd visit to MW. My first was 3 years ago for the "taster" menu, but this time just for lunch.Fabulous value at £32 per head for 3 courses, cos by the time you have all the canapés etc, it's far more than 3!We both opted for the £25.50 option to have matching wines too. Also, as there are 2 options per course, we chose to go 50:50 on every dish, so just had ONE of every of dishes on the "Du Jour" menu. The main course lamw was "to die for", but all of the other dishes were fab too, ditto the canapés.Faultless service, great Sommelier, awesome food - we're back there in 2 weeks for a repeat!!!FINE DINING at its very best - you'd be doing amazingly well to find a better place to eat ANYWHERE!!!!!

We are not the type of people who can afford to drop £150 a head on a meal every Friday night, but we are lucky enough to enjoy splashing out occasionally. The opportunity arose to dine here so we took it. The first thing to notice is how the very rich seem to have very bland tastes. Both here and Gleneagles were very similar. Plush furnishings. Very comfortable, but seemingly designed to simply not offend. A surfeit of browns, taupes, beiges blacks and golds with all the requisite glasses, cutlery and crockery. But the cooking is sublime and the staff were extraordinary. We had the £95, 8-course tasting menu. There were actually four amuse bouches which appeared before the first starter, the first being a beetroot meringue with horseradish cream which certainly set the tastebuds salivating. The ability to use the best local ingredients was obviously a pleasure for the chef and a pleasure for us. That was the largest scallop I have ever had, some of the best turbot, the freshest langoustines and as for the saddle of Burnside Farm Roe Deer; stunning. I have run out of superlatives, but the poached meringue combination with coconut mango lime and yoghurt was like a trip back to the idyllic childhood you read about in books. There were a few slightly duff notes. Too many microherb garnishes, the butter was whipped and creamed to a consistency which I hate, the leeks were slightly undercooked......... but these few inconsistencies came in a masterclass of poaching, roasting, pan-frying, sous-viding, grilling, torching, smoking, boiling and every conceivable cooking technique under the sun, which along with the flavour combinations, without doubt merit the Michelin star. The sommelier was unstuffy, great fun and produced two great bottles of wine, very much at the lower end of the wine list. And after chatting to the head chef, who was suspicious of me writing on the menu; as if I was a critic; he also invited us into the kitchen to be stunned to learn that a brigade of only five others produced everything to the pass. (Not including the kitchen porters, the engine behind every team.) All in all, it was a fine evening, a fine meal, fine wine, fine company and worth every penny.

The service at Martin Wishart is excellent from start to finish. The food (we had the six course tasting menu with matching wines) is very good, but perhaps not of Michelin star quality. Luckily, the quality got better as the menu progresses - the two starters were least impressive, the two main courses were better and the two desserts where the best of them. The matching wines were surprising and complemented the dishes nicely. Special mention to the sommelier for the superb presentation of the wines.

From start to finish, our experience at this restaurant was excellent. Staff were extremely attentive throughout and all of our dietary requirements were attended to without question. We did the 8 course tasting menu with wine pairing. The regular menu is very seafood orientated and my husband is not a seafood eater. The chef substituted the seafood courses with vegetarian options which were as good as my regular courses. For me, the standout dishes were the desserts. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the wagyu beef and his vegetarian options (although all the food was delicious). The restaurant is small, tastefully modern with a cosy, intimate atmosphere. It overlooks the loch, which is a beautiful setting. Dinner was perfectly paced and took up most of the evening. Staff were very friendly and very good. After dinner go to the main bar for a drink as there could be a long wait in the old part of Hotel for service

We ate at Martin Wishart’s Leith restaurant a while back and it was exceptional. This too did not disappoint. All of the service, bells and whilstles one would expect from a Michelin Starred restaurant. We had the 7 course tasting menu plus matching wines and a number of amuses bouche, pre deserts, breads etc. All the courses were fresh, seasonal and perfectly cooked, it all worked perfectly. The choices of the wines were inspired too. The decor of the dining room was just pitched right for its surrounding and whilst formal, it was still fairly relaxed. Too many superlatives to say, and up with his Leith restaurant as one of my favourite dining experiences.

At the age of 63 we have experience plenty of very good Michelin star restaurants. Martin Wishart is out standing. The different flavours interacted so well. A lovely lovely experience and cant wait to come back again next year. The staff were excellent aswell.

My annual treat of lunch at Martin Wishart again met all expectations. Relaxed quality dining supplemented with amuse bouche, served with discrete attentiveness and superbly cooked and presented. The set lunch is excellent value, and allow the knowledgeable staff to enhance your experience by selecting your wines to accompany each course.

Visited Martin Wishart at Loch Lomond for my 50th Birthday meal, the last time I was in this restaurant at Cameron House it was called Smollett's and it was for my 40th Birthday, My visit last week will go down as one of the most memorable meals ever and for all the right reasons! Service was absolutely impeccable we picked a middle priced wine to complement the eight course tasting menu, wine was excellent and the food was just an explosion of flavour, my personal favourite was the Veal Sweetbread. I definitely wont be leaving it ten years before my return.

popped in for dinner last week. Had the 6 course taster, which also came along with a variety of amuses bouches and appetisers. The food was really excellent and general presentation and service etc had an attention to detail about it that made it an experience to remember. My only gripe about smart restaurants is the price they charge for the wine. I get the food bill because it's unique and we couldn't replicate it. But it's definitely worth a visit.

We took our 14 year old daughter with us to experience her first tasting menu and will live to regret it as she loved it and wants to order it all the time! The food was wonderful and the service perfect. We (the adults that is!) opted for the wine pairing but probably wouldn't do it again as we felt the serving sizes were a bit on the small side, plus we loved 50% of the selection, but not so enamoured with the other half. The sommelier herself was superb though.

Second visit and once again amazed at the quality of food and service. The £32 lunch Sat/Sun menu is great value. Looking for to my next visit. For a special occasion you'll be hard pushed to beat this place.

The best steak pie I’ve ever eaten in my life. Katherine assisted me with our order and she could not be more pleasant to work with. Even the delivery driver was exactly on time and delightful funny and engaging. Strangely, the grill offers chicken enchiladas. This was as tasty as food I’ve eaten in Mexico and the heat level and Mexican spices were outstanding. We will order again from there tomorrow due to delicious food and charming staff.

Great food and service by lovely staff. There were 10 of us and restaurant was busy but we didn't wait long for service and different food orders. Would recommend.
