M&S cafe Abbeycentre looks and feels like a staff canteen. Lazy, disinterested staff, ' if you don't see it, we havent got it ' attitude. No one manages.

Great place to meet visiting family. Brilliant staff and good views. We met family who were stopping off from a cruise from Canada. My uncle wanted to meet at M&S cafe as he used to ‘court’ my aunt there in the 60s. Now I will say this. It’s obviously popular meaning it’s extremely busy. However the staff could not have been better, allowing us to rearrange the seating to accommodate our large group. They were clearly under pressure and to be fair to the manager I heard him thanking his team for their efforts. The food was good. The coffee and tea great (I loved the pots of tea). To end one of the young lads offered to take a group photo so we’d all be in it.

What a shambles , staff less is the point , queues , uncleared tables and at lunchtime ,well 1.55pm mid week …empty shelves where food should be. NO Notice on the self service cakes to say about NUTS, people had crisscrossed the serving cutlery. The room was filthy, windows smeared with debris. Now there’s mugs , the treat cup n saucer aspect gone down the drain. What a show case of a major UK Retailer and how it’s screwed up, customer service and the basic cafe idea. Un caring staff who slam a mug of coffee in front of you rather than place it . Where’s the training.

We took our little granddaughter in for lunch- she’s a vegetarian and had enjoyed the pancakes and blueberries before. Selection was terrible for her - no pancakes!!! Unreal in a store with a food hall!! Had to take the cheese sandwiches- they were horrible- and nothing other than carrot sticks for snack - that’s fine for older children but not a 16 month old child. My husband and I had coffee and sandwiches- both weren’t great. Definitely won’t be back

The food choices are reduced with the new layout. If you want a bacon bap you take it from the cabinet to the new island till. It is put through the till then it goes back into the cabinet. Visited the marks and Spencer's cafe recently as I had an offer on my sparks card of half price cake with the purchase of a hot drink. I don't often go to the Belfast cafe as it is always so busy it stresses me out. Upon arrival we got into the long queue which took ages to move anywhere. When we had progressed a little we saw the cake was on a table slightly apart from the queue where you picked your own slice. People were now behind us so if I had been alone I may have had to leave the queue to get it. There was a selection of four cakes from which we took the carrot cake. Upon paying the staff were slightly rude asking if we were just here for the offer. I find marks and Spencer's staff often make comments like that when using the Sparks card as if they don't want the business from it , it makes no sense ! The cafe was quite full but tables were quickly cleared once people left. The carrot cake was delicious especially the cream. The mocha I had was lovely too and I like how they give a biscuit along with hot drinks. My boyfriends pot of tea was extremely small, it only had about one and a half cups in it. Worth it to go here for the food but the long wait and rude stuff put me off.

I subscribe to a credit card which offers coffee vouchers for marks and Spencer's cafes. I have visited stores throughout the uk and the system appears to be identical. Numerous, very busy staff in the background, huge queues, and limited staff preparing beverages and food. I cannot fathom how an organization as large as marks and spencer have not worked out a foolproof system for serving customers. It isn't because the restaurant is full and they are playing for time to free up tables. M and S serve fast food at a very slow pace.

When in M&S doing some shopping with a friend and feeling a headache coming on, we decided to go here for a cup of coffee, rather than my usual favourite coffee shop which felt too far to walk with a load of bags and a headache. It has been quite a while since I have been in this ' cafe' and after this experience I now remember why that is the case!!It really does feel much more like a canteen than a restful, relaxing oasis which is what a good cafe should be. It is staffed by people who clearly do not enjoy their job as it seemed to be too much effort for them to smile at any of the customers, and they seemed much more interested in gossiping to one another than in providing any semblance of service. The coffee was blah and to round it all off the place was quite scruffy with several tables having been left uncleared and the whole atmosphere was one of a rather chaotic, shambolic place where the customer is treated like an irritation.Overpriced too as the sandwiches were way too expensive for what they were. My friend had a slice of cake which she left most of as it was so dry and tasted quite stale to her.I certainly won't be back here as there are some lovely cafes in the surrounding area where you won't be treated like an irritation.

While shopping to day in Marks and Spencer in Belfast I needed a bite of lunch. The cafe is at the top of the building and to be quite honest I didn`t expect much other than their slow service that I had experienced at previous times. This cafe still has the fresh feeling of newness as it's not been open for very long. Their fridge was filled with an array of own brand eats, healthier options available as well as the more indulgent. A nice touch was the freshly baked scones. A pot of tea is a bit dearer than most supermarket cafes at £1.95 for a small pot of Earl Grey. But the service is good, and the staff really keep the place very very clean. When customers have departed, the table is cleaned and wiped down thoroughly. There's no self clearing stations, which I personally detest.

Organization in the Cafe has to be completely reorganised!Efficiency could be highly improved if customers had the opportunity to return their trays by themselves. Instead of this five staff members are talking together while tables are not cleared away and customers struggle to find a place to sit down. Also the Buffet Service could be substantually improved by separating the Drinks- and Food Buffet (Drinksbuffet including coffees = selfservice). Fewer but more professional staff could make it all much more efficient.

I would nip into Marks cafe in Donegall place for a cup of tea and a scone or something quick simply because it is handy when I am shopping. However although the food is ok the staff could do with a course in good customer service. Nearly every time I have been here I come away feeling why do I bother as the staff are so unfriendly and obviously don't really like doing their job. Also the place needs a good clean and the trays should be inspected before being put out again. You also have to hand over your food which needs to be heated at the very start of the counter before you can see what is available. Another example of Marks and Spencer's falling standards.

This turned out to be a wonderful surprise when three of us were on a day-trip to Belfast (from Dublin) and had only a short break to be on our own for lunch or shopping, so we headed to Marks & Spencers Cafe to do both! Firstly, let's just say that the choices available for pre-made/packaged sandwiches (made fresh each morning) was mind-boggling, and as it turned out....delicious! I opted for the 'carved sandwich of the day', which was made on-the-spot and happened to be lamb that particular day..and OMG it was a tasty, tender and huge amount of deliciousness, and was reasonably priced as well. My wife and her mother had sandwiches of that contained bacon/turkey and veggies and roast beef/veggies and they both enjoyed them as well. We paired our lunches with pots of tea and headed back to the bus both stuffed and happy.

I was critical of the The Chester for its many young barmen who had no customer service. I was therefore pleased to see an older bar person in charge, who was so hard working actually obsessive cleaning. However this was short lived as this person / woman was not friendly actually everything she was asked for was a chore, surely her job I went tonight because I had really bad news and was trying to lift myself. Instead I was depressed by sour puss and unacceptable service. Sorry but do you not know the reason why people go out is to lift themselves.? We left and went to the always excellent Lansdowne.. Chester please learn make people need to be felt good and invited. My advice get rid of the OCD cleaner and invest in someone who is a professional person engaged in making the experience a pleasant nite out. Won't be back until staff changed Will

When will Costa ever get it right? Cafe Latte is NOT FLAT WHITE!! Flat White is a small non frothy double expresso coffee with just double the amount of milk to coffee. If I wanted a mainly milk coffee I would ask for a Latte or a Cappuccino.

We ate in this restaurant in the Hilton before going to a concert in the Waterfront Hall next door. We were there around 5.30 and were the only people in at that time. Some background music but little atmosphere. The food was tasty - we had starters and main courses - goats cheese and prawn cocktail and a cheeseburger and chicken. Service was slow for a pre theatre menu. We had to ask for the dessert to be rushed to be in time for the concert. All in all it was satisfactory but not an inviting experience.

This place has gone to the dogs. They also reduced the quantity/size of goujons. Goujon meal tonight was over £10 which is insane. Staff still nice. Management decisions.
