Market Plaice in Bromsgrove

The guys working at the Market Plaice are absolutely fantastic, we took a group of young people on a Halloween walk through Bromsgrove and decided to go for a bite to eat at Market Plaice, The guys provided all of our young people with cakes sweets and everything they had to celebrate with us, we had fish chips and sausage's which was absolutely delicious, thank you for making our Halloween walk extra special :) you guys are amazing, keep doing what your doing, you really showed us great community spirit throughout. we will definitely be back soon.

I ordered Cod and chips on 10th September on a recommendation from my Mum, and I wasn't dissapointed. I wouldn't go to another fish and chip shop in Bromsgrove now, excellent, Thank You.

Brilliant food, perfect fish, light Crispy batter. Chips to die for. We don't use any other chippy now 😊

Have ordered numerous home deliveries from their app, excellent quality kebabs and the staff are always great in store!

I called at 17.25 and got what seemed a really nice lady. She took my order and asked when would I like it for. I said half hour and she said that was okay. Got there and had to wait in a queue for 15 mins before even getting through the door. Then I said I was there for a collection, I was then waiting an extra 10 minutes before I actually got my ordered. 18.21 I walked put with my order. The service is very slow unless you want delivery, they seemed to be flying out like no tomorrow Won't be coming back after this

Just finished an excellent small cod and chips, cup of coffee. Dining in. As always fantastic chips and lovely white fish in a light batter, brilliant friendly service, could not ask for better Recommend a visit

Needed a meal in a hurry whilst waiting for a bus - this is right by the bus station! Inexpensive - £4.50 +30p for the pickled onion - and well cooked. Friendly and helpful staff. Very busy too - always a good sign! Would recommend

We have been visiting Market Plaice Bromsgrove for a few years now and have NEVER had a bad meal. The food is fantastic and so are the staff. All through the lock down they have been doing takeaway and we have had several meals from there. The food is consistently good, the fish is fresh, the batter it light and crispy and the chips are lovely. My partner has mini fish & chips with mushy peas and I have mini fish with just salad and we have NEVER been disappointed. The staff are always respectful and friendly. We have visited many other Fish & Chip shops and, so far, have not found one that compares to the standard at Market Plaice. If you are in Bromsgrove and looking for fish & chips then I thoroughly recommend you go here.

Awful customer services. They forgot the chips with the scampi and wouldn’t replace the full meal. Chips arrived but were the scarps from the bottom of the pan.

I had a meal delivered on 28th August 2020 i ordered large cod chips,tinned roe. Unfortunately the fish was overcooked and very dry. Ive never had any issues with this chip shop which ive used for many years so i certainly wont be put off using them again

Ordered before and service has been ok. Decided to order GF chips for the family on the way home from somewhere on the Saturday. Ordered ok on the website but on collecting the lady at the counter was quite rude in the way she told me that there could only be a minimum order for GF options (I had seen nothing about this on their own website) then she polished of by rudely asking whether I ‘understood her’, I was left feeling patronised and unwelcome. Thankfully the other man behind the counter must have realised her approach was unprofessional because he added that he was sorry about the minimal order which was needed as the fryer would need to be used solely for that order unless it was on a Saturday service when they would have many GF orders (I could appreciate this reason but it was Saturday) but they would do this order this time round for me. I don’t feel that it was the nicest experience, long wait even though I went to collect at the time said on my online order... and then the portions sizes were very small and the chips were very anaemic with lots of bad bits. Won’t be coming here again.

Food was fabulous! Large portions, huge piece of Haddock, with crispy dry batter, it was perfect! The whole family enjoyed their food and my wife was extremely happy with the standard and variety of veggie options! We all commented on how good it was!! We will definitely be ordering from here again, we have found our new favourite, by a mile!! Online ordering and delivery on a Saturday within 40 minutes is just an amazing added bonus!!!

First time we have had food from here, and we will be back again. The batter on the plaice that my wife had and also on the scallops was absolutely first rate, it was thin and crispy and not greasy. We telephoned are order and only had to wait a few minutes.

My husband went for large cod and chips today and I was cross with him because I thought he had brought me the mini fish by mistake but it was a large. I am sure trading standards would be interested in their portions. It was no bigger than a mini and it was £5 for just the fish, shocking. We will never use them again

Brilliant fish and chip shop. Cod always nice and fresh. Batter nice and thin and crispy. Chips always lovely and mushy peas. Can't fault the food and the service is always excellent as well. Always thoroughly enjoy my food here . Thankyou .

Market plaice has been in Bromsgrove located by our bus station for a few years and the quality of the food has always been great! ,they have lovely staff,a nice seating area in and outside and it's a firm favourite with locals and visitors.

In my humble opinion, this is by far the best chippy in Bromsgrove. I would recommend it to everyone. Always busy, the staff always happy & helpful and the piping hot food is of excellent quality. There is a sit in facility and given decent weather, there are seats to enjoy outside. There is flat access for customers with mobility difficulties. I've lived here for a decade and would say the best Bromsgrove has ever had. Big thank you to the staff. Don't ever leave!

Couldn’t recommend this chippy enough ! Food is delicious every time ! The best in town !! Also I’ve stopped eating gluten now and they do gluten free food and it’s amazing ! Also the staff are so friendly !

Needed something quick to fill the gap and wanted fish and chips lots of people told us we could not go wrong here and they were right great taste service with a smile

Really good fish and chips are a hard to come by and over the years I can count on one hand the number I would class as really good. More often than not as soon as I walk in the door my nose tells me the fat has been burnt and that taste permeates into whatever has been fried afterwards. Either that or the fish is over battered and once you have got down to the white part it is nowhere near as you thought you were paying for. No such problems here because as soon as I entered, which I did three times and had to return because they where so busy there was no aroma that I have previously described. There is an outside covered area where you can dine but the day was a bit parky so we waited a short time for a table inside. A very comprehensive menu at reasonable prices gave us plenty of choice. We had our minds set on Cod, Chips and Mushy Peas which was duly served on hot plates very quickly after ordering. The friendly jovial staff where pleasant and good humoured, ( must be paying them too much) stood up to my banter well giving as good as they got. The mugs of steaming hot tea served with our meal was lovely. We catch the 144 bus from near our home at Longbridge and it drops us off outside the shop. Whats not to like.

Excellent food and excellent friendly service. Gluten free options available just ring up to give 30 mins notice. Gluten free cooked in a seperate frier. Best chippy in town !!

Drive ten miles to get to this establishment. Very friendly staff, quick service. Fish and chips and mushy peas, and a nice cup of tea. Lovely.

Just finished helping to run a quiz at our local church. Ordered 75 fish & chips! delivered on time pipping hot. Lovely golden batter, succulent fish and tasty chips. Everybody enjoyed them and people were asking where we got them from. Many thanks for helping to make the evening such a success

Their fish is amazing! We have large cod (or sometimes haddock), lightly battered and we always try to ring our order in as they get very busy. We feel it's fair to do this as coating the fish with a light batter means it takes special preparation! They are very helpful and friendly. By the Iceland store and the bus station. Watch out for their early closing times! They are not open all evening on any day. 8pm closing on Fridays, 7.30 other days. Not open on Sunday.

The fish and chips at Market Plaice are absolutely amazing. My husband and I usually opt to eat in and have a fish dinner which consists of fish and chips, a choice of sauce or peas and a hot or cold drink. The fish is extremely tasty and very well cooked. The staff are very friendly and know all the customers who come into the shop. We have had takeaway food from there too which also is very good.

Called in for lunch with a friend...and managed to find a table. My haddock was being freshly cooked and was taking a little while, so a few chips were delivered to the table “to keep us going”!
