Marine Street Social in Wirral

A nice place run and managed by very bad management. Matt the head manager should be ashamed of himself asked for 2 simple requests and we received nothing but horrible abuse. This place will be shut by the new yr. I believe it’s the same owners that own the Cheshire cheese in Wallasey. Another place we will be keeping out of too. Would not in a million years would I advise another waste a pound in the place. 0/5

nice terrace downstairs awful staff rude and not got a clue what they going. £8.50 for a cocktail and in a plastic glass.. management not got a clue and head door man iwill end up closing the place down. be surprised if its still open come Xmas. What a shame

Walking through Marine Point Retail & Leisure Park my twin brother Stephen and I decided to drop into Marine Street Social and what a great first time visit. A modern bar,nice decor and furnishings including a superb looking serving bar and plenty of seating options spread throughout this bar both inside and outside looking out onto the busy and bustling Marine Point. We track and traced and sanitised our hands and we were allocated a table outside were we ordered a beer, beers were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and soaked up the sunshine while sipping our beers. My beer was really good, a light, hoppy and unpretentious lager style beer bursting with taste, very easy to drink, on a hot afternoon a totally refreshing brew. We really enjoyed our beers in here and although our visit was only fleeting for a first time visit to here we were totally impressed. Marine Street Social is easy to locate along Marine Point. Opening hours are; Monday to Thursday, Midday till 11 30pm. Friday & Saturday, Midday till 2am. Sunday, Midday till 11.30pm. A wonderful bar,if your in the area most definitely well worth checking out.

Amazing atmosphere, lovely friendly staff. Highly recommend amazing choice of cocktails which all taste amazing

We reserved a table for 6 it took an hour for anyone to come and take our drinks order but I did overhear that they were understaffed so let it go. We ordered cocktails in the terrace which we weren’t aware you can’t do until the rude mangeress came over who looked about 16 herself, spoke to the waiter who took our order (in front of us) slammed our drinks order on the table and said we don’t have facilities for these up here! Not - we don’t have cocktails on the terrace would you like to make another order. Nope just absolute horrific table service. After this we got up to leave as this for us was ruining our evening. To which we were told by the same manageress we had reserved a table and can’t just walk out!!!! After an hour and a half or being spoken to like crap and still no drink I think we have the right! Sort you staff out please I think this for all of us, will be our final visit

No prices on show, so was a tad expensive to be charged £13.30 for two drinks, last nite 24th June. The waitress insisted this was correct although she was unable to provide a receipt showing the breakdown of costs. Probably explains why the place was virtually empty around 20:30. Left after one drink and over to the Master Mariner, which was packed, where we were charged half the price of Marine Point Social at a much more reasonable £6.90 for a pint of Doombar and a large glass of Rose. At these prices, I just don't see how this establishment is sustainable, even as the night time economy continues to re-open.

Service was very slow. Asked for 2 mojitos and they were foul! There was one great staff member who was a red head girl and she was great, sorted the drinks out and discounted them. We sat outside and the table was filthy. Good job my partner brings anti bac wipes with her.

There are no table menus. The waitress described the drinks to us after we waited 15 minutes to order. The drinks took 20 minutes to arrive! Mostly ice, a waitress came over with the bill but didn’t put it on the table, didn’t let us look at the price, didn’t say a word just pointed the card machine at us. Not going back again.

Me and my partner had decided to look for somewhere to eat in New Brighton seeing as it was emptyish we approached the door and waited for someone to come over. After a while a young lad came over and asked me to please put on a mask, as I'm excempt I explained that to him he huffed at me and ask to see proof I told him " i don't have proof but if its a big deal if you have a spare mask I'll gladly put one under my nose while I sit down " but what really annoyed me was even though I'd made concessions to do this not one ! Of the staff were walking round with masks on. We sat down and was told it is table service being hungry and thirsty I went to order our food but my partner had to ask to have our order taken even tho there were approximately maybe another 4 customers on our floor and alot of staff behind the bar talking. The young lad did not have a mask on while he stood particularly close taking our drinks order. Overall it was let down by the staff the drinks were okay bit expensive and the food was okay but nothing amazing.

6 of us went to this bar on a Thursday night, when it was not particularly busy. Ordered cocktails & were told that a certain one was not available because of low stocks. We were bemused by this as the bar is next to a Morrison's supermarket. Eventually the staff went there for the missing ingredients, however, the drinks took a long time to make & were served at different intervals. When we asked to speak to the manager he was too busy taking selfies!!!! Clearly not enough staff working in this establishment - thought hospitality was desperate to have customers back. Won't be going back & God help anyone who goes at the weekend - good luck with getting a drink!!

Myself and my friends had been having a lovely evening on the terrace and had recieved great service from the bar staff. At around 10.40 pm last orders were taken at the bar and we were told the terrace shut at 11pm. At 10.50 we were approached by a bouncer and told to leave. I simply questioned that was it not 11pm closing and so shouldn’t we still have another 10 minutes to finish our nearly fully drinks we’d just bought. He stated I’m giving you 3 minutes to f**k off before I throw you f***ing out. We were shocked at how we’d been spoken to for asking a simple question. He carried on trying to intimidate us telling us he was going to f**king throw us out if we didn’t get up now. We left as we felt genuinely threatened by him as he didn’t seem sound of mind if I’m honest and dread to think how he would react if someone else questioned him with a bit more perseverance. I understand as a bouncer you need to be firm when dealing with people, but his attitude was disgusting and un called for. Also uncomfortable with being told to basically share a table with strangers or have to leave. Ridiculous that you make people wear masks walking around to then sit with a group of people they don’t know 👍🏻

My husband and his brother went at 4pm to get a table for the football, they sat on the terrace all afternoon without any trouble, until half time when a bouncer came up to them and told them to move from the seat they had been in since 4pm as they wanted to seat a group of girls! My husband refused to move as they wanted to finish watching the game, the bouncer proceeded to grab him out the seat and throw him down the stairs to which another bouncer then put him in a chokehold! Will never ever recommend this place to anyone! Avoid at all costs!

Been here several times, and I can honestly say I’ve never been in such a disappointing atmosphere and environment. There’s NO safety precautions for Covid 19, and overhearing the managers towards the staff behind the bar and Burger Joe is absolutely disgusting. They pay most of their staff cash in hand and don’t pay tax or National insurance and have seen many of them under the influence of Class A drugs on the busier nights such as a Friday and Saturday. Again would like to mention that if you want to risk catching covid DO NOT and I repeat DO NOT go here. For a local bar to bring some vibrancy and delight to new Brighton it has done the upmost the opposite, save your money and your health.

Been here regularly for a while now. It appears that since my visit last time you now have yo wear a mask to walk from the front door to your table. Fair enough. The man who was very polite said id need to buy one off the bar or i could not enter. I stood outside and checked the latest government website. I have asthma and am exempt from wearing a mask. I am sure people swing the lead but i am genuine. I came back and showed the current legislation that is that those who are exempt should not be asked for proof of exemption. I pointed this out (my doctor charges £40 for a letter) the man was understanding, however at this point, a young brunette lady came over to me, i did not get her name and told me she had the right to not allow me in. I again pointed out the legislation. She said that the legislation was hipocracy. I said regardless of her point on it, it has to be abided by. She said if she doesnt feel comfortable she can refuse. All the time she was within 3 feet of me (breaking guidelines herself). She was raising her voice, when i then advised id be reporting this she told me she didnt have to serve me as i was being rude. I advised i was eating only and she said she would tell the kitchen not to serve me. She made a right scene and caused much embarrassment. I have advised her i will come back next time with my medication to prove. I was severely embarrassed by this lady. Everyone was looking over. I give credit to the polite male member of staff. Also i cannot take anything away from burger joes food, the food was as always very good. The review is bad in reflection of the poor attitude of the staff member only. I understand the legislation changes daily but when pointed out from the government website then there is no excuse to raise your voice at a customer or publicly embarrass them. Retraining is certainly advised for this staff member. My visit was Wednesday 7th October at 7pm

Awful service. We called in for coffee on a windy day with my elderly parents. My dad accidentally knocked a bowl of water over that was on the floor for dogs. The young girl said she would mop it up but an hour later and several staff ignored it. 4 of us ordered hot drinks. We waited ages despite it being empty. Dads tea was stewed In the pot when it arrived . 15 mins later the remaining coffees arrived and by this time the 2 who had received their drinks earlier had finished them. The place seems to be run by kids. I would never risk ordering food here. Sorry

I was staying in the nearby Travelodge and visited here for a drink. Face masks are now compulsory as of yesterday but none of the staff were wearing them. Come on guys. Didn't feel comfortable. Nice pint though.

visited on friday 28/8/2020. absolutly no socail distancing or safty measures being adhered to.so many people allowed in it was rediculous ,decided to leave after 1 drink .only to see one almighty fight going on .horrendous and scary,police ambulances.i was so pleased to get home safely.i would never ever visit this place again,the owners obviously dont care who is entering there premises,or how many in this frightening time,disgraceful.

Went for lunch at Burger Joes with my son. Staff not wearing any protection behind the counter, taking drinnks orders or delivering the drinks and food. People clustered around the ordering point with little or no consideration for distancing or safety. I left more concerned for the young staff than customers which is a poor reflection on the manangement. Better when it had thinned out but a very uncomfortable visit and wont be returning.

Been wanting to come here for so long, I was extremely disappointed. I left at 10.30pm and there was still a child running around, bar staff were more concerned about a table which I have since found out was occupied with other staff who work there but was not currently on shift, staff hanging around that table and not checking if anybody else needed drinks. We had to ask a number of times for somebody to come over and at one point waited up to 45 minutes, despite 4 staff standing at the bar chatting and the table filled with staff having drinks constantly brought over. They could possibly argue that the wait was due to the new regulations but when there is staff standing around it doesn’t look good, also, I found a babysitter for the evening, so why can staff sit at a table so late with a child? Not great for my first visit after hearing such amazing things. I do have to say though - young lad who was working couldn’t have been more polite, didn’t catch a name but he was tall and had dark hair.

Went here today for some lunch 4th July. Staff really good, observing the protocols. Burgers from burger joes amazing, great prices. Beers nice and plenty of space great atmosphere. Recommend.

Went to watch the football! Fantastic atmosphere busy with families, couples and young football fans! Great time had by all! Well done

Beautiful setting in the evening, could be a bit chilly due to it being a low volume evening. Toilets should and could be better, milkshakes to die for.

we had a good night here watching a beatles tribute band it got very busy later on but i only had one long wait to be served and I went to the bar six times John

Tempted back to one of my old haunts, then caught sight of this new establishment.Branding, confusing. I really thought at first it was a community sort of drop in.Then, someone over dinner said, had I tried this new place as they have a really nice up top open area.Sorry I missed this, but, when back In New Brighton will give it a try

I have visited here a few times for food, with family and friends. Have ate, just had drinks or enjoyed the live music. We went last night for a late drink after being in Liverpool with 2 of our friends and we won’t be going at that time again. It was like a youth club!!! Drinks being splashed at each other which inevitably goes all down your back, falling off their benches landing on you with no apology. I love a mix of ages it makes a good night out but going into a bar full of kids is not the right pitch for this bar. Such a shame as I am sure other people would walk in and not stay. I like dance music so that’s not an issue but I would argue it’s not to everyone’s taste so this is definitely attracting younger possibly underage kids. What a shame as I had previously had good experiences here. Needs the owners to take a grip.........

Got some noodles and drink from here. Food was nice, they are independent food shops in the place. The environment of place is ok, it was a bit messy and rough around the edges. Its more of a bar than a place to eat.

Loved it here. I went with a group of girl friends and this place had it all. A bar, food and live music. I am definitely using this place again in he warmer weather as I want to eat upstairs on the roof terrace

Living in New Brighton, Marine Street is ideal. The food last summer was brilliant... Indian Street food, halloumi fries, katsu curry, nachos. But this summer is a let down. There's only about one vegetarian option and the basic things you expect from a social aren't there. Although I do enjoy Marine Street, it seems like the obvious food choices are missing. As somewhere that seems to try and be fashionable, some of the food choices seem a bit basic and boring. Keep up with the modern trends when it comes to food.

The venue had a huge drinks menu on a chalkboard behind the bar, however when I ordered a cocktail the bar staff told me they weren’t serving them as they had no ice! We didn’t stay, but went elsewhere for a cocktail.

Lovely and fresh food, between our family of six we had burgers, Sui mai, burritos and loaded fries and couldn’t fault anything! So glad something like this has arrived here, among the run of the mill chains this is special. Bar is fully stocked too! We were too full for desserts but will save some space next time! Super friendly chefs too! Can’t wait for our next visit!

Something for all the family. 2 cocktails for £10. Great selection of drinks. Amazing milkshakes etc for the kids. Fantastic range of food stalls. Live music and big screens for sports. Lovely, friendly staff Can't recommend highly enough.

Popped in today for the first time with my partner for a few drinks and to watch the match, what a great place! Staff were really friendly, knowledgable and couldn’t do enough for you, we’ll definitely be back.

We visited last here weekend. It's little different to your usual bar. There are 5 food stalls inside, each offering different types of food. It's great. I had a burger from one place, hallomi fries and maple syrup from another followed up with yogurt ice cream. Fantastic. Good selection of drinks beers, gins etc. Definitely recommend it.

Popped in for something to eat whilst on my break in local work. I ordered the chop butty. Now don't be fooled here, this was chunky delicious chips served in a Greek style pitta with chilli, coriander, salad and the most amazing sauce. It was yummy. Would have loved to be able to have stayed especially as the footy was on 2 big screens, looking around there were some great looking cocktails to be had and the atmosphere was vibrant. There are a few for stalls to choose from so I will be returning to try more.

Whist it being different to other bars, the in house food market seemed a little over priced along with it costing over £16 for just two drinks.

What a find! Popped in for lunch with the Mrs on a bright sunny day. Amazing views over the Mersey from the terrace, fantastic choice of drinks and unbelievable food. Not cheap, but we'll worth it. Would be good for lunch or a night out.

I have read the reviews prior to mine and there are some good points but it seems to me that people forget that it is new. Anything new takes time to settle and bed in. Give it time and dont write it off. (I am not associated) The loaction is good the decor is good and will no doubt improve and get that worn in look the staff will eventually find their feet and understand their customers better. The food was great - slightly expensive for the place but still good. The coffee was very good. Hope it does well it is good for New Brighton

We dropped in for a quick bite and a drink on bank holiday afternoon. New Brighton was busy and it was the only place we could get a seat. It was relatively quiet and it soon became evident why! Of four street food outlets two had run out of some basic ingredients which meant some of the food wasn’t available and another was closed because the delivery had not turned up - fail to plan - plan to fail. Perhaps it was because it was bank holiday - but we all knew it was a bank holiday so why not ensure you have sufficient stock? Also I found the bar staff a bit miserable - no please or thank you. The food we managed to get was ok and tasty for a snack. Even with a full menu the choice is limited. Could perhaps improve the vegan option. I think it needs to try harder and shape up if it’s to survive. A long way short of the great example in Altrincham.

I really want this place to be a success. Following the popularity of Liverpool's Baltic Market, MSS has street food stalls and a large bar. Live music and football events make it a popular venue for music and football fans. The upstairs terrace provides stunning views of the beach and waterfront and can be hired out for private events. MSS is family and dog friendly as it should be for New Brighton. The food stalls are all good but I'd like to see them swap and change over time to provide more choice. Bar prices are pricier than other bars in the area; £4.50 for a G&T; (also charged £4.50 for a gin without the tonic!) and £4.50 for a pint for which there is loads of choice. Family and charity events make it great for the community and it is attracting lots of visitors from out of town also. I hope to see MSS in New Brighton for a long time to come.

Friendly bar staff great location and lovely food! What more could you ask for! We sat outside on the terrace, relaxed atmosphere, perfect for chilling on a Sunday. Just what the area needed :)

Went last Sunday .at 7pm with friends..some rooftop booths said reserved for 5pm, but unused and no where to sit....felt as if we were interupting the bartenders conversation....not much variety(esp as one of my friends is 7 months pregnant)..ordered 1 coke and 3 different gins....ALL were served in half pint glasses. Assume theyd run out of gin glasses...why not get some from downstairs? Unsupervised, running,screaming children. Two women from a party there ended up on the floor.

Met with friends at new bar, bar on the roof didn't serve all drinks-i wanted prosecco- only champagne served from rooftop bar! (With plastic flowers on the wall!!) A lot of stairs to climb especially when carrying drinks -health and safety!!

Like the place... The feel.. The idea. Cake and coffee 3.20 not bad plus it's very dog friendly as you can see. Own pot of biscuits for Charlie was lovely

Nice idea but a bit disappointed with the result after all the hype. Food expensive for small portions and drinks way too pricey. Pleasant staff and nice roof terrace but not for me.

Took my daughter and her friend for a waffle £4.95 a bit expensive for 1 I thought! Sat upstairs nice views kids wanted some water £1.80 a bottle thought this was overpriced !! Shame it’s a bit pricey
