We reserved our table on a Friday night at 8pm. We expected the restaurant to be busy but there were only two other diners, which is strange as this is a top tourist attraction and considered by many as the jewel in the crown of Warwickshire. The restaurant is boutique style and compact and bijou. The leather dining chairs are extremely comfy and speaking as someone with arthritis these things matter! This is a beautiful building and worthy of a tourist photo or two! Quirky and wonky like you would expect from a typical timber framed Tudor building and so quintessentially olde world English. The restaurant was clean and tidy and the staff very friendly and attentive - thank you Silviu and team For giving us great service, good food and making this a night to remember! The food has a typical Italian/American flare: pizza, pasta, lasagne. Typical chain restaurant prices. Nothing extraordinary, but it doesn’t pretend to be! This is not fine dining, or pretentious nosh. This is Good food in a great place and perfect for families and friends to gather for celebrations or cosy intimate dinners. So where are the people? Frightened by Coronavirus? Checking out the many other eateries in Stratford? Or just unaware that this is a charming place to dine; full of character and history with a great ambience and great grub! Who knows.... but I am happy to keep this my little secret ❤️ My only negative would be to remove the pictures if MPW from the walls and replace with something chic & contemporary!

We had read the reviews and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was very good and the service was excellent. Silvia could not have been more attentive without being intrusive. We had a lovely evening ... good food, wine and family ... a night to remember - thank you!

Sadly we were very disappointted with our visit. Staff were disinterested and lacking in any interaction. Food was substandard,boring and over priced. Would have been better trying one of yhe local pubs.

We enjoyed our food, especially the steak which was cooked to perfection, but the atmosphere was lacking. Staff were a little pushy & tried to suggest we booked a table for the next night too, which we didn’t want to do. Enjoyable but not special enough for the price.

We visited here on a Sunday evening for a meal as had been given a voucher as a Christmas present. The starters were nice we had nachos and chicken wings and for mains we all ordered steak. My son ordered the fillet and myself and husband sirloin of which they only had one so I had the t-bone (which was extremely salty I could only eat half) my husband likes his well done and when it arrived it was still red inside so he sent it back it came back looking black and tasted burnt! They then offered a t-bone and this arrived well done on one half and rare the other so he mentioned it to the waiter and didn’t want to have to wait again for his food as myself and son had finished eating!! We asked for the bill and the waiter kindly explained he had not charged us for the steak they burnt and only charged us for the half of steak that he had eaten!! The experience and atmosphere was awful we were made to feel uncomfortable after complaining (could hear the staff whispering by the bar area) I can honestly say I have had much nicer food at a restaurant charging half the price of here, it was definitely not what we expected.

Crispy calamari was soggy and full of fat, no comment at all when it was taken away untouched. Medium rare steak was at best medium and in many parts well done as it was so thin. Onion rings, like the calamari was full of fat, a cooking temperature problem? Chips are cold. Wine was OK 😂

We were looking around for somewhere to eat one evening, fancied Italian and Marco's Italian came up on a google search. We looked at a few google reviews which weren't great, however I noticed a lot of issues stated pointless things like 'they used too much tomato puree' or 'the pasta was over done'. I know from experience of working in pubs and restaurants that those sorts of complaints are from people who just like to complain! So we decided to give it a go and had a lovely meal! I would recommend a visit and ignore the other snobby reviews.

My Mum and I dined here on a Groupon deal. The main course choices were very limited but Jules, the Manager made it all better for us. He was very professional and friendly and made us feel at ease, The starters were very delicious.

No pizza !! 4 things on set menu and 2 out of 4 not available. No pizza in a Italian restaurant. First told that pizza oven was broken then that they had no dough as it wasnt made on premises ... shipped in frozen !! What a disaster. Cold soup. Cold pasta. Oh dear! :-(

TheMPW brand has been stretched way too far at this site. You could be eating food from any high street brand. Nothing was horrible but equally nothing to celebrate. It’s a bit like Marco went to Iceland and served up a plate of reheated food with not much thought. If Marco,”s has been anywhere near this site he should be ashamed as it doesn’t deserve his name

This restaurant has cold lighting, an odd smell, below average food, but good service from the waiting staff the evening we were there. The restaurant has a truly neglected feel. MPW should be ashamed, if he ever visited this restaurant that he’s put his name to.

Four of us went with a Groupon deal and were very disappointed that the menu was very limited with only the cheapest dishes on it. Its the first time when I've felt that I'd paid too much using Groupon. The people were nice and the food well prepared but it was overpriced.!

Shared starter of mixed seafood and chicken and prawns was straight from the freezer and deep fried, half a step up from Weatherspoons which is at least a realistic price. Pasta soooo overcooked. Complained but Chef could do nothing as pasta sent in PRECOOKED. REALLY? ITS PASTA! We got 25 % off my meal but it was £22 so you would expect fabulous pasta at that price. Awful overpriced experience.

This restaurant is a big disappointment, it used to be better. Very limited choice on menu, no diary free or vegan options. They only do sour dough pizza, why not ordinary dough, too? My pasta dish had lots of tomato puree not much flavour and the prawns just put in with no braising or onions or any effort to make them tasty at all. No organic wine and poor choice of starters. No wonder during our 4 day stay there was hardly ever anyone in it.

We were really looking forward to a nice steak and some nice ambiance in Marco PIerre Whites restaurant in Stratford Upon Avon. We should of read previous reviews first. The wine we asked for which was recommended by Marco Pierre was not available. I ordered beetroot carpaccio and was very disappointed it was like sliced beetroot from a jar. The steak was very average and on the chewy side. We decided to order dessert (Tiramisu) it came on a warm plate and there was no taste of alcohol in it. When we mentioned this to the waitress she said we should of asked for alcohol to be added. It didn't mention this on the menu it was very disappointing. There was no atmosphere in the restaurant and the staff were very unfriendly. Will not use Marco Pierre Whites restaurants again expensive for what you get and very disappointing.

With a top chef's name & picture all over the restaurant we were expecting something special.

My wife and visited Stratford-upon-Avon during the late August bank holiday and found the town to be a beautiful and friendly place for a leisurely weekend.

After a wonderful day in Stratford Upon Avon, before walking back to our accommodation we decided to have dinner at this restaurant. The menu looked good and of course being Marco Pierre White restaurant it was a no brainer. We did not at all expect fine dinning as you could see that was not the case straight away but we certainly expected 100% better than what we got. We ordered two glasses of wine and the pre theatre 2 course menu. My partner ordered the bruschetta which when came out was small(no issue if it tasted nice) but tasted very bland and dry. I ordered the nachos which came out burnt(the edges of the nachos) and was covered by what tasted like an American processed ‘plastic’ cheese, I was a little taken aback. For the main, we both had pasta, my partner the mushroom lasagna and I had the salmon cannelloni. We both felt it was just one step up from a microwaved meal. Overall the experience left us quite disappointed. Not what we would expect from a Marco Pierre White ‘Masterchef’ restaurant at any level. The meal overall cost 60 pound. Unfortunately would not recommend to friends and family.

Photos of Marco EVERYWHERE! Even in the ladies toilets! How strange. Multiple signed chef’s whites! Talk about bigging yourself up! Wow, I thought we were in for a real treat.

We expected an above average meal. It was very disappointing, average at best. And the first four types of wine we ordered from the menu werent available. Wouldnt go there again and certainly wouldnt recommend. A rip off!

So for £91 we got 2 x beers, 1 large wine and 1 small wine.... nacho starter was v nice to be fair, the crab cake starter tasted of potatoes and v v little crab, the ribs were half decent the £28 steak ? Seen better , much better in fact in a Toby inn!

Inicialmente fuimos a Marco's a tomar unas copas en la terraza (que era muy tranquila incluso en un día caluroso) y nos recibieron con un servicio muy hospitalario. Entonces decidimos reservar una mesa para la cena, la comida era buena y el servicio fue rápido.

Reservamos para tener una comida aquí basada en el nombre del restaurante. El restaurante está ubicado en un antiguo edificio Tudor que ahora es un hotel Mercure. Lamentablemente, el interior no refleja la belleza del exterior: en cuanto entras por la calle, caminas por un pasillo, las paredes revestidas con tela gris / plateada y las opciones de diseño cuestionables continúan en el propio restaurante. Mi compañero y yo no pudimos evitar rodar los ojos cuando nos dimos cuenta de que cada foto en el restaurante es de Marco Pierre White. ¡Qué vergonzoso es bombardear a los comensales en su restaurante de calidad inferior con retratos que solo puedo describir como desesperados y falsos!

Very average offering trading under a big brand name. Chicken goujons were good, Welsh rarebit had tasteless cheese, Root veg and bean stew was poor...only root veg was sweet potato! Salmon was fine.

It was my sister in laws birthday and noticed this restaurant whilst walking passed. I mean come on Marco Pierre whites. We thought get in I always wanted to eat at a top chefs restaurant like this so we made a reservation for 19:30 that evening. What a disappointment. We all had starters and a main, we got told it was steak night so 25% off all steaks. All I can say is that’s it’s overpriced average food and it turns out Marco as only ever been once and that was on the opening night. The standard were poor. Steak was full of fat. The starters were average and all for a nice £150. We were not the only ones complaining. A couple sat next to us complained about there steaks and the waiter just totally blanked them and walked off. In the end we did get some money knocked off as 2 of the mains were not even touched, plus the steak didn’t have the 25% taken off and there was a service charge of £15 for terrible service that was taken off.

The restaurant is beautiful decorated and has a lovely atmosphere! Staff were welcoming and accommodating from the beginning! Food was delicious; the staff quickly corrected a mistake with my partners meal with no fuss and a big apology. Would recommend booking a table as it became busy in the evening and it appeared people were being turned away. Highly recommend this restaurant though!

We didn't actually eat in the restaurant but were served in the bar. The cream tea was one of the best as I have ever had as the scones were warm, there was plenty of jam and cream and the gentleman even went to the trouble of getting me Soya milk. I couldn't praise him too highly for his excellent customer service.

The staff were friendly and welcoming. Sadly though, there were very long waits for the food and when it finally arrived it was just awful. Cold and underwhelming. Certainly not worth the money. We would have complained except two other tables near us sent their food back, I felt bad for the staff- as I said, they were great.

Visited this restaurant while on a short break to Stratford. It is joined to the hotel where we were staying and there are lots of adverts for it in the hotel.

Staff were actually very good , food was as expected, tasty, not a massive selection but at least you know it's fresh. Had a lovely bottle or two of rose. Just the place was lacking on atmosphere, the bar area very dingy and staff went into a huge panic when we asked for cocktails. If returning to Stratford would eat else where.

We visited this restaurant as it was attached to the Shakespeare hotel which was lovely, pity you couldnt say the same for this restaurant. It was friday evening and the restaurant was empty bar a few tables and we asked for a table for 2. 'Have you booked' was the response from the waiter, er no was the reply as you are empty. Appearing to be put out we were shown to wobbly table, others where available but no this was our chosen table. As the waiter left we moved to a more stable table. It took an age to order, given it wasn't full and then by what can only be described as miserable staff. The waiter seemed vexed by the cork on a bottle of prosecco, which at £32 a bottle was not even particularly good. Starters of calamari were soggy. The sirloin was quite fatty and grisly, the ribeye not too dissimilar however both were cooked perfectly rare. Not a big fan of herby chips. Really the atmosphere was not pleasant. Would not come back to this restaurant.

The food we received was really bland, over priced with awful service. Also the person in our party who needs gluten free food ended up eating nothing as the options & guidance were so poor (everything had to have principal elements removed - i.e the best option they could come up with was ‘burger without the bun or chips....but we can give you a bit of salad’). The waitress kept getting it wrong which dishes were OK and had such an attitude about it- as if It was a nuisance.... even though the restaurant was empty.

We ordered pizzas and sat in the bar as the restaurant was full. Both pizzas arrived without any seasoning and could have been better. The drinks were expensive so made a quick meal an expensive affair. Left feeling disappointed and wouldn’t recommend.

My partner and I visited this restaurant and came away very disappointed both with the food and service. We had a voucher which was given to us to use as a birthday gift and before we ordered we asked if we could use the voucher and was told yes. We had to ask for drinks as were just left at our table. Booked for a 7pm only 2 other tables in there so it wasn’t because they were busy. Ordered our food after having to ask again to be served. Food arrived and they forgot part of mine. The calamari was greasy and just rings like you would get at an all inclusive buffet. My partners lasagna was good mine had to go back. When we asked for the bill we was told we couldn’t use the voucher. Very disappointed below average food and very poor service which they charged us £6.70 for!! A restaurant that relies on the name. I would choose else where

Were invited by friends who were staying at the hotel to join them for evening meal at Marcos recently. It was such a disappointment. Lack of welcome and attention and everything seemed "too much trouble". The meals themselves were pretty ordinary and unexciting.

Dined at the New York Italian in the Mercure Hotel. Reasonable starters (Baby Ribs and Calamari rings) also adequate portions. My main of New York Italian burger was good made with ground beef. My wife's Salmon lasagne, oh dear. the chef had not thought than one out! The use of smoked trout? and generous quantities of strong cheese resulted in more salt than in a Soviet Dissidents Gulag. This is the penalty of having a Birthday on the run up to Christmas. The regular probably off and steeling himself for a long steamy night. The staff were pleasant enough but busy preparing for the Christmas booking. Not sure I will risk a repeat visit.

I had read some rather negative reviews of this place but honestly we found it thoroughly enjoyable. The portions are large and full of quality ingredients. The staff are friendly and helpful. The old building with beams across the ceiling etc lends itself to a beautiful, cosy atmosphere. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit and we will be back.

Well I was so disappointed....I had spaghetti meatballs in pomodoro.....it was the worst spaghetti I’ve ever eaten....it was if someone had cut it up...no long pieces to curl up as one should.....awful, not at all al dente. Very poor Italian recipe.

Comí pan de ajo seguido de setennoni de setas. Mi marido tenía alitas de pollo seguido de costillas. Las mejores costillas que ha tenido (¡y que tenía mucho!) Y también unas alas preciosas, ya que no están absolutamente cubiertas de salsa.

Was very excited before I visited Marco’s last night but was very disappointed in the big man’s food! Calamari.....too much batter and Salmon with Tuscan beans was almost inedible . Not good I’m afraid

Nos alojamos en el Mercure Shakespeare Hotel, al que está adjunto Marco's, y pensamos que sería una agradable cena de viernes con amigos. Reservé a través de la recepción del hotel, y me informaron que debido a una boda el mismo día, no podríamos sentarnos hasta las 8 pm, pero esto no fue un problema, aunque más tarde de lo que normalmente comeríamos.

Este restaurante está muy bien situado cerca de las principales atracciones de Shakespeare, cerca de New Place. El menú del almuerzo tiene muchas opciones deliciosas y buenos precios. Eaton Mess genial para el desierto. La habitación es cómoda y pudieron acomodar a nuestro grupo de 5 sin reserva. El único inconveniente fue el servicio lento, lento, lento. Está bien ser pausado, pero con el alto costo del estacionamiento en Stratford y tantas atracciones para ver, necesitará al menos 1. 5 horas para el almuerzo, y los tiempos de espera son demasiado largos.

Simple really, best ten quidish lunch we've had for a very long time. Food was fresh, natural and very tasty.

My friend and i purchased the house burger. This was perfectly cooked and nicely presented. My friend opted for the £10.95 lunch 2 course offer and ordered the Tiramisu pudding to finish. This was very good value!

Visited here in August and can honestly say we were shocked that MPW would put his name to this. The man has obviously give up. I hope no New York Italians visit as they will have the pitch forks out.

We were staying in The Shakespeare Hotel and decided to try Marco's which is also open to the public. The zucchini fritters were very light and so many of them that we asked for a doggy bag and ate them the following day too. Roasted almonds were also very plentiful. We had the salmon and the BBQ ribs for mains and these were very tasty and good size portions, so much so that we couldn't manage a pud. Excellent waiting on staff.

Large group coming in after a day exploring Shakespeare's town. Accommodating restaurant. When we requested they gave milk for our little one. The pizzas we ordered were thin, crispy and toppings were generous and loaded with flavour. Kids meals came out with incorrect meat in burger. I was not happy but the restaurant were quick to apologize and promptly remade burgers. Turned experience round into a positive. They also knocked off kids meals from the bill. The food is top notch and the service was good.

We had booked a table for 12 for a silver wedding celebration. The staff were really friendly and welcoming and it was a lovely surprise to be given an anniversary card and a bottle of prosecco. The menu is interesting and the food was delicious, plentiful and well presented. It was nice not to feel rushed and the staff seemed genuinely keen to make sure that we had a great time. Thank you Marco's.

We had dinner on a Saturday night, the restaurant wasn't so busy that you had to shout to have a conversation. Yes, the décor is a bit dark and there are pictures of a much younger Marco P-W, but this in no way detracts from the food or the service, both of which were really good. For the quality of food and service I think the restaurant is reasonably priced, not just charging for having the connection to Marco P-W.

The venue is tired and the only decor are photos of Marco Pierre. It was very dark and black - which can be chic - but this was not. The food was very bad - doubt if the chef had any training. The waitress was very welcoming but that is al that can be said. The zuccini had thick and undercooked tempura batter and I have had better burgers in MacDonalds.....and the chips were old too. There were only two other tables and their food looked poor too.

What a fabulous treat, the food was gorgeous, plentiful, varied, fresh and well presented, Gosia who served us was a credit to the restaurant, such a lovely person, smiling and helpful and caring, we felt very looked after.

On entering felt very welcoming and all staff were fantastic I pre booked a table for wifes birthday surprise had meals off early diners we both enjoyed no cheap meat and was a pleasure to eat just to top the night off a happy birthday in chocolate on her eaton mess

We were in Stratford to go to the theatre and were looking for an early dinner. We entered the restaurant from the hotel and couldn’t really tell if it was open as there was no-one around. Eventually someone appeared and showed us to our table. As a vegetarian I was disappointed to see that a dish containing Parmesan was marked with a (v) and the waiter couldn’t advise why the nachos aren’t vegetarian. My nieces ordered off the set menu - garlic bread and chicken goujons to share, salami pizzas, brownie and cheesecake - all of which they thought were very good. The portion sizes were large and at £18.95 for 3 courses we felt it was very good value. I ordered from the a la Carter menu - the zucchini fritti starter was very large and nice, but would have benefitted from a sauce or dip, the margherita pizza was good and half price and the chocolate brownie tasty and substantial (I couldn’t finish it). All told, £58.88 for three 3-course meals inc. service charge, which I thought was a really good price. The restaurant itself was very nice though there were an awful lot of photos of Marco Pierre White, which we found a bit odd!

By choosing the restaurant within the hotel may be easy but don't expect the exceptional. Burgers ok, dry. But tiru miso was tiny and not tasty enough.

We arrived for dinner at 7pm. The restaurant was nearly empty as most people sat outside. Staff were very friendly throughout and we changed our table to sit outside. We opted for the set menu and were surprised by how large the starters were. We were full before our pizzas arrived, but they were happy to put our left overs in takeaway boxes. We would have loved dessert too, but were too full. We would visit again but probably share on the starter.

We came ready and keen to experience and enjoy. We were four adults and all very competent in the kitchen. Oh, we were so disappointed with the food.

As we had a wheelchair user in our party we find eating on a weekend very difficult this was not the case at marcos staff were excellent we ate in the courtyard where they have a ramp to make access possible.We started with the calamari and garlic bread with cheese lasagne x2 rigatoni x2 Pomodoro x1 all of the food was excellent for afters we had tiramasu x2 vanilla ice cream x1 5pints of lager 3 white wines 2 reds all large all this for under £160.00 Don't on any account let the name put you off thinking it will cost a fortune.Staff were very helpful from beginning to end.Cant wait to go again.

This was a present from friends. Sadly so disappointed. Staff were very friendly and plesent. The outside area out the back was a little tired. Maybe a few plants and it could have done with a wipedown. So after sitting down outside we decided to eat inside. The sandwiches were medicoca particularly the ham sandwiches which were processed ham. Also the bread was hard on a few. The carrot cake was lovely as we're the macaroons but the cheese cake was awful. Overall it was ok but we left distinctly underwhelmed and upset my friend had paid for something that wasn't great.

Set within The Shakespeare Hotel,this restaurant with "a name tag" attached to it, seems to be working.Although simple traditional fayre(nothing to write home about) the mechanics seem to work well,and positioned inside the most iconic hotel in Stratford,this must be an added bonus.

A visit to Stratford-upon-Avon didn't seem complete without a visit to Marco's Italian restaurant. We ordered from the early bird menu as we had a toddler with us. My wife had the nachos to start and I had the fried calamari - both were fantastic. The portion sizes were huge and we couldn't finish any of the courses - due to the size only. I chose a stone-baked pizza for my main and my wife had the pasta Bolognese - again both were faultless. We saved room for desserts and weren't disappointed. Tiramisu and New York baked Cheesecake. The food was fantastic and the staff were delightful. The food wasn't over-priced either not was the wine. Well worth a visit.

Decided to call in on the off chance that there may be a table vacant for my wife and I.

We were very disappointed with our lunchtime visit to this restaurant. We were waiting for five minutes for somebody to appear to direct us to our pre-booked table. The ambience within the restaurant was non existent, very dark and gloomy. We had been given a Groupon voucher as a present and as such the menu we were offered was very limited. My partner ordered a pizza and this arrived burnt to a cinder underneath and I ordered a bolognese dish that was both bland in appearance and taste. We ordered a bottle of water with our meal at £3.80!! and a small handful of fries as a side dish at £3.50!!. Service was also very slow with only one member of staff in the dining area. This is one restaurant we shall definitely not be visiting again.

We had the early evening dinner set menu. We thought that it would be smaller portions but we were wrong. We had the nachos and chicken gougons. They were huge portions and absolutely delicious. We all had a burger which was such high quality. All deserts; Eton Mess, panna cotta and tiramisu were the best any of us had tasted. The service was excellent. A very enjoyable meal of the highest quality.

Sorry but we were quite disappointed. Very slow service and only 2 other covers at the time, in fact we decided to order our desert when the main course arrived. Understaffed. Menu was uninspiring. Expected more from MPW.

We booked 8 people for 8 o’clock. Surprisingly quiet but we had a well placed table. Good service and all pleased with food and drinks. I had lovely salad and it was fresh and filling. A range of food ordered: pizza, lasagne etc and no complaints. Would return. Thanks for lovely meal for a uni reunion

Nice light bulbs, the nacho starters were big enough for 3 people to share, my burger was lovely, but the gluten free options are basically just the stuff of the main menu without gluten, so if you're coeliac, they don't have a separate area to cook it. Did I mention the light bulbs?

Popped into the restaurant prior to visiting the theatre,leaving an hour and a half to eat. Two tables were occupied so there was plenty of space and presumably plenty of time. Opted for the 2 course - simple pizza and aubergine parmigana followed by Eton mess. Both courses took ages to arrive and despite reminding the waitresses of our deadline we eventually left most of the pudding in order to get to the theatre on time. No explanation was offered as to the extremely slow service in an almost empty restaurant. Food was blandly filling, that's about all one could say. Should have done a little more research before entering this rather gloomy establishment which doesn't seem to act on the generally negative reviews despite protestations that they are taking criticism on board. Play was excellent, unlike my stomach overnight!

We bought a Groupon voucher as we often use them for local lunch out. This has been the only one I have regretted. No decent chef should serve soggy bruschetta with cooked tomatoes, I think it had been frozen then regrilled. My Zucchini Fritti was a family size portion of soggy courgettes! My pasta Bolognese was very good but my husband's burger was poor, over cooked served with dry chips. I really regret not complaining at the time but it is not something I have had to do before and felt bad as the waitress was lovely.

Did a Groupon so did not expect much but the food was really good and the staff truly excellent and I will go there again. Only issue was they had not heated the fat hot enough before they cooked the zucchini fritti so it was a bit soft but that is being picky I went on A Sunday lunchtime and it was busy but not too busy

Fantastic place this! Can’t speak highly enough of this restaurant! Amazing value for money. Highly recommend lunchtime menu, two courses for less tgan £11. Absolute bargain for top quality food!

It's hard for Italian food to be so bad. Very average starters nachos that were coated by a plastic cheese and very average dips. Chicken wings that were undercooked server with a watery blue cheese sauce and soggy zucchini fritters!

I had something from their new menu, Zucchini fritti, which was very greasy and barely edible, and Calamari, which was totally inedible and had to be sent back. The whole thing was so soggy that the batter came off the squid, which must have been frozen and was just as bad.

I called and made a booking at this restaurant for our anniversary. I called the day before and spoke to someone to book a table. We arrived for our reservation, only to find that the restaurant was CLOSED for a private function!!! We have since been in contact with the restaurant but they really are not bothered in the slightest. One thing to note is that this restaurant is a franchise run by the hotel, who refuse to give us contact details for Marcos head office, I can only presume this is as they dont want negative feedback. getting back to them.
