Mango's Of The Caribbean in Central Bedfordshire

Just moved to the area and love Caribbean good so we're hoping for good things. We weren't disappointed. The decor is great as is the atmosphere with reggae music in the background. Food and cocktails were great as was the service. Will definitely be back again soon.

The food was very nice, portion control is horrible however, food price is unfair for the portion size. Place is run by teenagers (no issue with this bless them) However the manager needs to not give them orders like a dog as I overheard (multiple times). Did not make our evening out any nicer hearing this

Service was good but the food was disappointing I wasn't expecting 3 star Michelin cooking but what I was expecting was a good size of food which I was very disappointed with the small portions. We had curry goat coconut rice and peas !! the curry goat whilst edible was a little bit salty the rice and peas was meant to have coconut but i tasted zero coconut in the rice and peas!! the macaroni cheese unfortunately was tasteless had no real seasoning it had no soul !! For dessert well that was soul destroying and i could of bought this anywhere ...nothing distinctly Caribbean about it!! I will try this estabishment one more time ...my advice would be a buffet Style Sunday menu, more choice and most of all ramp up the flavouring!!

I was waiting to try this for a longtime. Went with my partner and two friends. It was not very busy, so was extremely disappointed with the service. We waited for bout 15 minutes, just to be asked for a drink, which we called lad over. We got in at 8pm never got a starter till about 9.10pm. And seemed enough staff, but mainly seemed to be hanging around the bar. When eventually got food, nobody came said is everything OK. Etc, the cutlery box had no forks or knives so had to ask for. THE FOOD, was LOVELY. But again a long wait. A Caribbean restaurant should have the atmosphere of say, TGI Fridays if remember them. Always bubbly willing to sing Happy birthday as was my partners birthday. Think good idea would be to put a candle on say a cup cake. And sing to birthday guests. Or play Happy birthday in say soca. I DJ so know there's many Caribbean birthday tunes ot there. On LEAVING again nobody said thanks for coming come again. Think owner / manager , need to tell there staff to raise there game. As this could be a great nite out. But need to make there customers feel more special

From the outside of the restaurant it looked beautiful and looked so authentic. But when being seated and waiting 20 minutes to get a drink and then no service for an hour and a half was shocking. Didn’t get to order food since we wasn’t asked what we even wanted. We then payed for the drinks. May I say £3:50 for a Diet Coke was stupid enough and they also charged us service charge. WHEN WE GOT NO SERVICE. They was also shocked when we walked out. No excuse for it because they wasn’t understaff because the lady was sitting there on the till doing nothing. It looked promising but after sitting there with no engagement was stupid and probably the worst service I’ve ever had.

Was really looking forward to eating here especially after reading the reviews, however our experience was very different, we arrived at 6pm our order for drinks was finally taken at 6.45 however another 30 mins later and still no drinks when we finally managed to ask someone they apologised and said the order didn't print, it was another hour before the starters arrived which were reasonable but when the mains eventually arrived which was 2 hours 40 mins after we had got there they were shocking, watery goat curry no rice and peas as they had run out, totally flavourless achee and salt fish and tiny portions. They place was run by kids who bless them had to take a huge amount of complaints from most of the diners. The so called manager was rude and instead of apologising made excuses saying he was sweating hot and rushed off his feet. He then dissappeared leaving the poor teenagers to deal with all the complaints. I have never seen such terrible service and people getting so annoyed in a restaurant before. Maybe it was just a really bad night for them but I will never be going back again. Such a shame as the ivory lounge used to be really good. Sort it out guys and treat your young staff with a bit of respect

Eagerly been awaiting the opening of this place. Atmosphere & Ambience fantastic. Booked for 8 of us. 4 adults and 2 children. Surprised to learn no children's menu however there was a couple of side dishes they could have had or perhaps share a main. We were seated for 7pm. Food arrived at 830pm due to a jerk chicken issue. Chef had to remake a fresh batch. I was told complimentary banana chips would come but they didn't until the food came and there was a tiny handful for 8 people. The staff were teenagers who didn't have any idea how to look after customers and keep them happy. We didn't complain because we wanted to give them time to redeem. One waitress tried to take our jug of water and glasses when our food finally came. The waitress came with cutlery but not enough and seemed confused how many we needed. We were offered to change our menu order with the jerk chicken issue but who goes to a jamaican restaurant and can't order jerk chicken? So we decided to wait. Not sure what we would have had though instead. Food portions surprisingly small for the goat curry. None the less if they quicken up and look after the guests they have we ll be back. Smoothies nice. Booths lovely and decor. Love the bathroom parrot wallpaper.

Had been waiting for this place to open for months & when it did booked a month in advance for a birthday meal - really wish we hadn’t!! The jerk chicken was raw, the jerk chicken salad was meant to be chicken breast and was full of bones & we ended up cancelling the vegetable curry as it never arrived by time the people who actually had edible meals had finished (despite being told twice that it would be coming soon). Only 3 out of the 6 meals ordered could be eaten. The only good part of the meal was the drinks!! Will never go back & will not be recommending to anyone ever!

Lovely restaurant - great atmosphere! Food was really nice & love the cocktails and great service! AD one of the waiters was really friendly as well as the other staff! Will highly recommend. My sis treated me for my birthday. Great choice of venue. Will come back again. Love the decor of this venue. Nice Caribbean feel !!

Had a lovely lunch with my sister for her birthday. AD our waiter was very pleasant and polite, but all the staff were friendly. The service was excellent and the food was sooooo tasty with ample portion sizes. Really wished I'd taken photos... Prices comparable to local restaurants for our choices. Loved the Caribbean ambience!! It was very quiet and will definitely go back at that time, my sister and I left at about 4:30 p.m. feeling very full and satisfied all around. Will definitely return with friends and family soon. Well done Mango's of the Caribbean!!

The food was delicious. I had the goat curry with rice and peas which was yummy !!! Drinks were gorgeous and the customer service was amazing. I can’t remember the waiter’s name but he was lovely and he went above and beyond to give us the best service possible. Will definitely be coming back !!!

HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!! You will be 'greeted' with the sounds of a Beres Hammond concert, playing on the TV. Service very poor,food could have been better(burnt white rice) I was with a group of 20 people,we ordered our choice of menu beforehand. One dinar was charged £3 service charge for a £24 bottle of red wine.

First reaction was wow! The interior is colourful, vibrant and fun! So many places to just sit, relax and eat.They even have swing seats! The staff really know their stuff! Customer service was excellent! The food was on another level! Hot to touch, flavoursome and good portions! I recommend the curry goat with a side of mac & cheese and the fried dumplins! They even do ginger beer on tap! Will be back!

Lovely place, great decor, music and feel. Cocktails were good. However, they need to find a better way of serving jerk chicken. Gad a lovely flavour but was really dry and overcooked. It tasted like it was either cooked that morning and kept in the oven or yesterday's reheated chicken. Got to stop that guys, this is one of our signature dishes, you cannot mess this up! Also add more water to the rice and peas. It was a little hard. The curry goat was banging! We will definitely be back and will bring friends. Don't let us down!

I was so excited to try this place, but had a really bad experience last night. We got there for 7.30 for our pre-booked table. Our food didn’t arrive at our table until 9.10. We were absolutely starving by this point. When I’d queried where our food was at 9, I was told the printer had broken - not sure why they couldn’t have found another way to get the orders to the kitchen or to at least tell us to expect such a long delay. I found it really rude to keep people waiting an hour and 40 minutes for food and not even offer so much as a ‘sorry’. When my food arrived the chicken was bright pink, very undercooked (my friends was fine, so nothing to do with the seasoning or way it’s cooked). Mine had to be sent back, which left me trying to finally eat my dinner two hours after I ordered it. We weren’t offered a free drink or any kind of apology. Really poor customer service and poor food. I really wanted to support a local business, but sadly won’t be back.

2nd time of going to Mango's. We had cocktails and drinks all fresh and absolutely lovely. This time we only had a mix of starters. All came quickly and warm. The Red pea soup was really good and hearty and a meat version would go down well. Always could do with some hotter versions of all the dishes we have. It was quite quiet but was early Saturday afternoon after the coronation. Music and decor all excellent. We will come back and will recommend to all our friends. I do hope a separate bar and dance area open to get the after dinner mood going. Excellent new eatery for Dunstable and surrounding areas.

Bland food, poor service and left extremely disappointed. I wouldn’t recommend or return, if you want authentic Caribbean food this restaurant is not the place to visit. Having had some difficulty trying to book a table of 12- I couldn’t fulfil this online, I then called as per the instructions on their website to be advised I needed to send an email. I emailed twice and did not receive a response. I then booked two separate tables and called to advise this is what I’ve done but would like them together- not a good start to book a birthday meal. When I turned up, they didn’t have the tables together and it was a mismatch of organisation. With this booking having over a weeks notice, I was disappointed when I arrived to find they had one member of staff behind the bar and one taking orders. They was not productive or prepared despite it being a bank holiday and a large booking scheduled. The wait times were incredibly long, the service was slow throughout and it was painful trying to order a drink. Having the table booked at 15:30 and not leaving until 19:00 was solely due to the long wait times and how inattentive the staff were. They need a lot of training and improvement on customer service and how to operate in hospitality. Everybody's food was bland with very limited taste or spice. With nearly every member of our party Jamaican, we knew what to expect and could see clearly how it underdelivered. Everybody’s plantain was undercooked, another meal was cold and needed to be sent back, three meals did not come out with our order which left them waiting for it to be cooked whilst everybody else ate. When two meals came out the third did not and I needed to once again tell both different staff members and I chased this multiple times; when this meal was finally served the table was being cleared of everybody’s plates. Honestly there was a large number of problems with the food and service which is why I have taken the time to write a review- I am hoping they improve dramatically otherwise there will be many more bad experiences and non retuning customers. Do not visit! My worst restaurant experience I have ever encountered.

Beautiful venue and atmosphere. Wonderful tasting, generous size cocktails. Authentic Roti, Curry goat & rice. Perfect looking and tasting plaintains. Great staff...really no complaints! I'll be back! So busy enjoying I forgot to take more photos as I was enjoying my meal and the vibe but it's a Selfie and IG dream to be honest.

Really wish I remembered to take a picture of the food! Lovely new set up in there! Staff are so friendly! The food…amazing! Jerk, goat, Mac and cheese, dumplings, wings and salt fritters all tried and were so good! Looking forward to going back and Hopefully trying the cocktails!

I recently had dinner at this newly opened restaurant. The cocktails were on point! We had salt fish fritters for starters, and it was very flavoursome. We then tucked into jerk chicken and curry goat with rice & peas and coleslaw for mains. I have to say the chef cooked the food with love and everything was delicious. The staff were very friendly and welcoming too. The ambience and attention to detail in the decorations made it feel like we were on a tropical getaway. The background music had us bopping our heads and taking us down memory lane! We will definitely be back!

Food took forever to arrive but was really tasty & the cocktails were great. Hope to come back in a month or so with hope that the kitchen & bar are quicker.
