We have dined in today with my friend for lunch, absolutely delicious meals and authentic atmosphere. Felt like I am at the heart of Türkiye. Very friendly staff and service was no rush at all. Will be back again soon.

I Came all the way form Southend to visit this place as I heard the food is amazing and I have to say it was way more than I expected it was exceptional. That charcoal flavour and seasoning was absolutely perfection. Don’t miss out guy on this gem.

I don't recommend this restaurant, I waited over 4 hours for them to bring my food....I called them a lot during this time, I lied to them that I was coming, and over 4hours passed.....

Six of us sat in and shared starters and mixed grills. It was all well seasoned and the soaked bread and spicy ezme salad were great. Place looks recently refurbed, friendly staff, and I even forgot I was in Grays for a moment.

We traveled from southend to try mangal we weren’t disappointed the food was amazing the service fantastic we felt really welcomed by the manager Hamza we definitely come back and recommend this place to every one

We have been ordering from Mangal Meze for years and normally the food is of good quality. I am disappointed that we have had to write this review on this occasion but the food we ordered was sub standard and not to its usual quality . Having waited an hour and half, having chased the delivery, the food was cold on arrival and for the amount we paid, we did not get value for money . Sadly we will not order from here again.

Nice place for a good Turkish meal... Went after school with the kids... Had a family meal and came back with half as it was quite a lot of food for 4... The atmosphere was a little quiet due to midweek blues but overall good food and service and would definitely recommend a visit etc.

Food was excellent! Me and my friends had just finished work and were starving and every othe restaurant was closed till we stumbled across this beautiful restaurant called Mengal Meze, and I don’t really try new foods but me and my friends decided to eat there. They were closing but were so lovely in serving us. They took our order and they treated us so lovely, they brought us some delicious garlic breads to eat while we waited for our mains. Don’t get me started on the mains because they was honestly made by God himself, it was all so colourful and seasoned to the T, they served it to us like we were queens. I honestly still have dreams about the food and intend to take my family there on my day off ! Great prices for great food, you must all go, you honestly will not regret it!!!!

Restaurant is brilliant I must say Clean, tidy and good size portions . Clean toilets Lovely Turkish salad and sauces The thing that really let's it down for me is they hate giving you tap water / refuse to give it and say you have to get mineral water bottle which is so overpriced ! I am no expert however from my partying days, I was under impression if a place serves alcohol then they are obliged as part of their alcohol licence to serve tap water . That's the most annoying thing for me

I ordered a Lahmacun, it says on menu it comes with salad. I phoned up as no salad and he goes because i ordered a wrap with salad, i use that for it and the food was cold. Never ordering from them again. As he did not care

This Restaurant is the only place I eat when i am out in Grays Town Center because they are the only ones have Swarma style kebab, It's real meat. No mixed doner joke where you have no idea what's in it really. They also have Lahmacun ( Turkish Pizza without cheese, only minced meat thin cross with tomato and onion grated. ) The interesting part is their Lahmacun tastes better than the ones in Turkiye for some reason. They make everything from fresh right there and then in front of your eyes. Nothing comes out of Kitchen. I am a Turk from Holland living in the UK and i have tasted food in many countries in Turkey and all over Europe and i can confidently say that this is one of my very best favorite ones for sure. And please don't accuse me of being subjective because i do not like being called a liar nor bias. I am only trying to help people by making them aware of what is good and healthy. They also always have fresh Turkish Tea and just like in Turkey, they never charge money for it within reason or maybe not to me because i am a regular. Lol

Service was terrible. Chaotic. Look at wine list to be told we don’t have those we have this one ! Ordered sparkling water for table waitress took 4 attempts before she got it right. Had to wait for glasses for wine, as they was in the dishwasher. Food did not live up to expectations, ordered a big mixed platter hardly any doner or chicken doner as they was running out only 6.30 pm £80 over expensive for what we had. No normal coffee, wasn’t offered any deserts but was told baklava is a bit old Extremely disappointed

A fantastic restaurant that deserves a little more credit and recognition. Good quality food and it’s not like a stereotypical Turkish kebab shop. The meat they serve here is good quality and the dishes are more what you would associate with an upmarket Turkish restaurant. They are flexible and will happily swap out things you don’t like or will make it the way you like it (For example, extra seasoning on the bread or Couscous only) - you just have to ask.Whether you eat-in, get a takeaway or delivery, Nihat and the team here do a great job to make you feel welcome and always deliver me a nice meal. Highly recommend!

Used to order a Turkish meal here for the family regularly, but stopped after the recent price hikes ( some family meals went up by 20 quid). My wife even rang them to check when we saw the 20 quid increase as we thought it had to be an error! Have eaten in and got takeaway many times. The food can be very good here, but unfortunately the bizarre attitude of staff and new joke prices outeweigh the positive. They are very inflexible, for example, insist you have one chilli and one garlic sauce, won't let you have two garlic and make you pay extra. If you suggest you want chips instead of rice / cous cous you are treated with contempt.. and of course can't swap and made to pay extra. The salad you get with a meal either in the restaurant or with a takeaway is a joke, although generally not as good meat quality wise, they should walk over the road to turkesh best kebab and take a look at the salad offering, it embaresses Mangal Meze. The staff that run the place seem to have the attitude that they are doing you a favor opening and being willing to serve you, rather than realising people have hundreds of places to eat at/from and are doing so less as times are tight. Don't think I have ever seen a bigger disparity between the quality of a places food (pretty good) and the service/attitude (awful/offputting) in my 10 + years living in Grays. Dont think I'd ever order here again, for the last few months have been trialling other kebab places in the area

It's a nice place to eat Turkish food

Got a takeaway. Took an hour and 10 minutes to be delivered which isn’t terrible but also isn’t great. Quality of food was ok/good. Portion size was shockingly small and definitely not worth the money. Having to put some nuggets in the oven for everyone because we are all still hungry.

Very poor service in particular one medium guy who did not smile at all and took our order , most staff appeared gloomy and rude. Except one that gave the food he was smiley. They refused to serve tap water stating only bottled water must be bought despite laws stating they MUST provide free tap water as they are a licensed restaurant. In addition the food is not up to standards compared to other Turkish restaurants and very mediocre.. such a shame as it was my husbands bday lunch with my family. In addition they did not turn on AC when it was 27 degrees only when I raised it at the end they turned on. Please avoid at all costs!! There's many turkish restaurants out there that are far better! And better price snd service.

Popped in for lunch, on a Sunday afternoon, staff were very welcoming and friendly. Food was tasty, fresh, well presented and affordable.

I was introduced to this place by a famous influencer on tiktok (Dilankurt ) The experience was truly delightful as the ambiance was warm and inviting, making us feel right at home. The staff was incredibly attentive, making sure every aspect of our dining was enjoyable. The menu offered a wide variety of delicious dishes, and each one we tried was expertly prepared and bursting with flavor. The restaurant's attention to detail and presentation added an extra touch of elegance to the entire experience. Overall, it was a memorable dining experience, and we can't wait to return to create more wonderful family memories there!

DISAPPOINTED waited over an hour for a couple of cold bits of chicken

Got 2 Chicken Shish delivered on a Monday eve, food arrived stone cold. Ordered onion and red cabbage on both but got a box of brown lettuce and old cucumber instead. Payed extra for 2 more sauces but they didn’t arrive and 2 cans of drink that didn’t arrive either. Chicken vastly over cooked aswell. Rang up to say my order was wrong and the 1st 2 people hardly spoke English and the third was very rude. Safe to say won’t be returning. Go elsewhere!

I went today for a dinner with my mom and my daughter and while my daughter was eating, she saw a small dark hair in one of the meets. I straight away put it on a napkin as I felt completely discussed that my 3 year old daughter almost ate that, and I took it to the chef to so they’re more careful for next time. One of them he apologised and offered a replacement of that meat, but as it seemed his boss didn’t let him to give a replacement and he charged me fully as well. I did mention that I’ll report the incident to the council for poor hygiene not so much for the hair that my 3 year old daughter almost ate, but the costumer service and the attitude of the boss accusing that i did put the hair on the lamp chop made me feel even more sick and disgusted of that place. My husband eventually paid the bill to avoid the argument but no one of my family and friends will ever go and support that horrible man’s business anymore. And I’ll also report the incident to the council. Extremely disgusting and disappointing.

Ordered on 01/04/23 instead of going out for a meal. We ended up waiting 1h 40min for our food to arrive which is just mad. Ended up ruining our evening and it’s a shame as we are regular customers.

Have never ordered food from Mangal Meze before but thought that I'd give it a try as a friend of mine recommended it and said that the food was nice. Prehaps tonight's meal was a one off but we all found it bland and it wasn't very hot and the bread was very tough. Will probably never order again.

I had high expectations,but,I just ordered a lamb doner to takeaway,I watched it being cut,everything I thought was brilliant for £9,even watching the lady putting the lid on my doner meat,I thought wow,but now I am home,the container was full of rice and cous,cous,I'm very disappointed and to be honest over the road you can have much much more doner meat in a large lamb doner. I'm not putting a downer on the restaurant,but we all expect value for money. The small shavings of doner were very nice. Give customers value for money and you will get repeat custom. I'm not slagging you off but speaking as I found Matt.

My absolute favourite Turkish restaurant! We go here with our kids in half term holidays as well as ordering at home. The food is of high quality and always piping hot on arrival. Packaging is also very very good. Their chilli sauce is to die for ! .. would you consider ever selling me a large amount Please ? :D I always ask for an extra and they always give ! Delicious food. Do not order from here! Absolute joke of a restaurant ordered the chef special which was cold and full of a puddle of grease made me and my partner sick instantly. Called restaurant spoke to manager called “Ali” who said his sorry and will give us a free meal again to apologise and to just state his name to then call up for the food and be told no your not having it. But happy to take your money for food that was sitting in a tray of grease and refuse to refund.

1 of my meal was missing donner was ok as it was really oily could have done better by completing my normal order maybe need to get a proper menu till system

We recently moved to Grays and booked the restaurant short notice for a meal to celebrate our son’s Christening. Lebi and the team were amazing and accommodating. The food was superb and my friends and family were all very happy. Thank you Mangal Meze team, we will recommend and return soon. 👍🏻
