Being rammed for a late service on a Monday night is testament to the delicious food and great service. A wonderful selection of wine and super tasty olive oil Martini. My favourite dishes were the lamb chops, mushroom dumplings and exceptional mackerel - but everything was beautifully served and well executed. Thanks for a lovely meal.

Mangal 2 serves classy, contemporary Turkish food from a concise menu that really turns your taste buds inside-out. Amazing service, and nicely presented. Dishes are also easy to share which is great for small groups who like trying lots of the plates. A touch expensive, but you are paying for utmost quality.

My son’s choice of restaurant. He is a budding chef. We do not often eat Turkish food. Was exceptional. Very fresh and , for us, unusual. We’re advised to have 6 starters to charge between 3 of us and 2 main courses. They all disappeared as soon as arrived. Bread was brilliant and hummus was best ever tasted. Mushroom main course was lovely and the beef we had was just fantastic. Only had room for the apple sweet between the 3 of us, and that went down in seconds.

I do love this place and it holds a special place in my heart from when I lived in Dalston. The kebabs before they went boujé, suçuk muffin during COVID days etc. I even have their t-shirt. 80% of the current food is wonderful - especially that sourdough pide. Some dishes deffo don’t slap like they should. Only thing I have an issue with is last time I came for my birthday, it felt like we were rushed out. We arrived at 6pm and was out by 6.40pm. We ordered a good few plates and they all came super quick between each other. Luckily the table next to us was empty, because we had to spill over. I appreciate the more covers you get the more money you get as a business. But the last experience has put me off for a while. The price point you’re paying vs feeling super rushed out was not worth it.

I am being generous with my score because it would be mean to give less. The big question though, is it worth the bill I paid? Absolutely not. This place is super hyped because they have thought about how to present Turkish food in the 21st century, and I applaud that. In Dalston it steps out of the traditional Turkish fayre to give newbies something different. The mackerel was the star of the show, banging with flavour. The rest was nice but underwhelming. I enjoyed it enough. Did I love it, no. Do I regret going, no. Would I go again no.

Not long ago this used to be one of many Turkish places offering delicious grilled meats. It has now reinvented itself as a modern Turkish cuisine hipster joint but the food is very average and disappointing, and the price too high for the minuscule dishes that are offered. Barbunya, the Turkish beans which taste good out of a tinned can, was malnourished and lacking taste here. For the price of £11 or so you get a single börek, which is just ridiculous. They better improve on their products or prices pretty soon!

Food was great but I wouldn’t say 5/5 stars. We enjoyed the lamb kofte, the flatbread and the mushroom manti. The service was okay. Service was really fast but it definitely felt like we were in and out the restaurant. Not a place where you linger and chat. Tables were really close together and slightly claustrophobic but this seems to be a common trend for viral and trendy restaurants. Not necessarily a bad thing. I wouldn’t go back but I’m glad I tried it.

Sadly it was a really poor experience - in every way, for a birthday. From the food quality to the service. We left an email to which no response. It just reflects that the reputation and customer experience (or feedback) is really not of importance for Mangal 2. I held off leaving a bad review as it is frustrating to do so, but we sent the email two weeks back. Maybe we were not just unlucky, but one of many that have experienced the same.

Apalling. 1 star because there’s no option for 0. Fed us mutton dripping on our bread after we stated on the booking form that we were vegetarian and halal, told each waiter that we were vegetarian and halal, and asked them to state exactly which dishes on the menu were vegetarian as there was no dietary information. There was barely an apology. The service was incredibly rude, the waiters were not busy but incredibly hard to get hold of, and brushed dirt from the next table onto us whenever they ‘cleaned’ the tables. After after feeding us meat after we’d only ordered vegetarian food and explained our dietary requirements THAT many times, it was insulting that the only apology offered was taking the meat we never ordered off the meal (totalling to 4.95).

A bit disappointing really. The restaurant is small, noisy and not really much fun for somebody of my age (62). My wife described the food as “superficially Turkish” - this is not your standard ocakbasi. Hummus was fine but a bit bland although I did enjoy the pickled vegetables served alongside. The borek was not great - slightly soggy pastry with what seemed to be a cream cheese and chive filling. Kofte was fine but similar to what you find elsewhere. My wife’s lamb loin was good and the lamb beyti was better. My mackerel dish was exceptional, simple and well executed. This was an average meal for a relatively high price - and not really great value. Mangal 2 is not terrible, but it doesn’t really deserve the great reviews and we won’t be hurrying back.

Food is okay. Service is terrible. We have arrived on time and our table was not ready. We waited to be called outside. Once we were seated, the tables were way too close and people next to us were shouting. We had to ask for the menus after 10 min we were sat. Robotic waiter did not say hello and just took our order. I had to ask for water twice. The worst money we've ever spent. Never again.

This became my favourite restaurant in london after my first visit. The flavours are extraordinary, every dish is made to perfection and is very reasonably priced. The atmosphere is quite relaxed, I liked the art inside - and the meal was top-notch. The aged beef my boyfriend and I shared was out of this world, the lamb was spectacular. I only took a picture of one dish because when I started eating it I forgot about everything else in the world. The bread and butter they bring out from the beginning was also like nowhere else I’ve had before - and I love bread and butter. The service was spectacular too! Every single thing we ordered was excellent, tasty in a way I have rarely had before with this type of cuisine and head and shoulders above other local restaurants. The bread to start was divine, as was the kofte and the two starter dishes, one aubergine dip and one onion salad, were also extraordinary. Then the mains. Lots of hype around Mangal and it's rise to glory. Went in with lots of expectations. Left feeling a little disappointed. Food is fine, but only as good as lots of other small plate sharing joints that have popped across the city In past years. It didn't leave a lasting impression. Wine list felt like a fairly run of the mill natty wine affair. Service was pretty rubbish. We were sat next to a slightly chemical smelling bathroom and left unattended to for a lot of our time there. We ordered bread with starters which failed to arrive in sync with other dishes. For the price we could have eaten at places nearby that have offered much more impressive plates and a much better service. Probably won't return. If you want some of those Turkish flavours then give it a go.

The staff were really nice, though our drinks did only come out at the same time as our food which I’m not a fan of (but we went on a Saturday eve so it’s busy!). I joined a larger group for a friends birthday as we had been wanting to go for a while. We were advised to order the entire menu and with 3 glasses of wine alongside the meal we ended up spending £80 per head. I wouldn't say we were full but we were a group of 6 guys so that might be about right. The starter dishes were a mixed bag, the menu overall was quite saucy and they could have done with reducing them down a little further as they felt a little thin / watery. The tartare (raw beef dish) had great intensity coming from the beef but was under seasoned. The Aubergine was a banger. The Lokma was the winner from the starters section. Not huge amounts of Fennel in the sauce it came with but the meat was very tasty it didnt need anything. The pide was a delight, we ordered another round, the butter was absurdly delicious with a soft creamy texture. The Whole Mackerel was very much half a Whole Mackerel... but delicious nevertheless. The star of the show was really the Ex-Dairy Beef Rib. The fat on the beef had such an amazing viscosity, creamy, buttery deliciousness coupled with an amazing crust on the beef that was perfectly cooked. That was a 5* dish. The wine list, extensive and relatively exciting (5 natural wines in typical Stoke Newington hipster fashion). Paired well with the dishes but we could have had a bit more face time with the waitress and suggestions would have been encouraged as far as the pairings go. Overall the service was okay, not invasive, slightly hands off but given we are in a difficult staffing climate and there were only 2 people on the floor I presume they were dealing with a challenging service. Thanks for the night to the entire team. Go enjoy some delicious cooked meat.

Just one cocktail on the menu, when we tried to order a G&T we were told it wasn’t possible as the one cocktail (Negroni) was a pre mix, so not fresh. The food was nice but unremarkable, certainly not worth the price. The restaurant is packed in way to tightly, we were constantly bumped into or having to move glasses and plates to make space for other customers to get past. Really cramped, to an unpleasant degree. Absolutely awful. No one knows how to run a restaurant these days, they only care about the money. Service was awful, the waitress was young and rude and had an egotistical attitude. We got sat in the basement where it was dark hot and loud. The type of people who come here have no taste, just awful gentrifying people who are loud and say stupid things so their dull but loud conversation ruined the meal. The food was so average, dry kebabs, the worst aubergine dish I have ever had - it was literally an awful consistency with no flavor and covered in an oily watery bath. White wine was served warm. Everything here one could easily make at home, or you can get much better and cheaper two doors down at another place. The only thing that was good or memorable was the apple tart. No sense of service either, when I expressed my concern they looked at me dumbfounded… like… umm maybe you should do something? So ridiculously overpriced for what it is. Food is rubbish. Service is rubbish. Atmosphere is awful. Don’t need to say anymore really - this place only exists as it’s in overrated east London.

Food was good with unusual ingredients and flavour combos. A lot more upmarket than I had been expecting. Lamb was delicious. But portions are small and very expensive. £80 for 2 starters, 1 main and 3 drinks.

Really keen to try this reinvention of a Dalston mainstay and was not disappointed. The borek was the best of the starters we had and an excellent take on the Istanbul breakfast staple. The mackerel with peach was so good I forgot to take a picture and the lamb was perfectly cooked though I could used a bit more garnish. The Baklava was very good but I will stick with Antepliler

Undoubtedly one of the best spots in town for this cuisine - pricey, but worth every penny

Very disappointed in our visit to this restaurant. I'd seen some good reviews-including one from Jay Rayner in the Guardian. I believe the head chef had changed since then. The portions were tiny, the food underwhelming and prices high. It's like a case of the Emperor's New Clothes, Jay has declared that the food is great so everyone blindly agrees. The place was full of hipsters (nothing wrong with a Dalston hipster). The staff were uninterested - probably high on the establishments reputation and the fact that it's pretty fully booked. One of the dishes we asked for was forgotten about but we were so disillusioned by that point that we didn't take up the offer to re-order. The glass of wine was literally 2 gulps worth, I not sure how they get away with that! Anyhow, we spent a considerable amount of cash on what amounted to a snack and a 'fun-sized' glass of alcohol. They saw us coming for sure. Don't waste your money - go to one of the other excellent nt local Turkish restsaurants where at least you'll not leave feeling hungry and ripped off.

Elevated dining experience. People say you get what you pay for. Mangal 2 is a little more expensive than your standard place, but it's worth every single penny. Bravo.

oh. hahaha. terrible. couldn’t have served us less food, and with less flavour. overpriced, overly-chewy meat, with no redeeming qualities.

Underwhelming and overpriced. Food was either unseasoned, over-seasoned, poorly cooked or poorly flavored. Please avoid this place, regardless of what you see on the various "best Turkish food in London" lists. Utterly gutted.

Hands down best food I’ve had in a while. Mushroom filled manti - must try! Cosy atmosphere and lovely staff. The Apple-fig tart was the perfect finish to a great meal. Ellerinize sağlık:)
