Mandarin Inn in Central Bedfordshire

Ordered beef with garlic and black bean sauce and recieved the one with chilli which is also on the menu. Ruined my whole meal as i poured it all over my rice, seaweed and prawn toast...i am not a woosie but my mouth is on fire after 2 mouthfuls!! Straight in the bin. Tried to call but went to answer phone, left a message but will not hold out hope for a reply.On a plus side the food arrived quickly

Very disappointed bad attitude never use again never recommend

Small portions, ie prawn crackers, curry sauce size of a chilli dip and congealed, which had to make own quick to enjoy the rest of the meal. Rice dishes where fine

Won't be ordering from them again, the satay chicken was swimming in oil and so dry, we couldn't even cut through it. Went straight in the bin. The chicken fried rice was cold and again, the chicken was so dry. Really disappointed.

I don’t leave a bad review very often but the food we received was terrible I wouldn’t order from here again if it was free! From the phone call to the food the whole experience was awful, also the price quoted was different to the price requested by the driver tbh the worst Chinese I have ever ordered will never order again

I recently visited Mandarin Inn for a take-away order, and I had an extremely disappointing experience. Not only was the food of poor quality, but the customer service was also abysmal. Firstly, the food was far below the standard I expected. The dishes lacked flavour, the ingredients didn’t seem fresh it was a major let down. To make matters worse, the customer service was dreadful. The lady at the counter was extremely rude and unhelpful.she responded with impatience and seemed annoyed that I was even there. Her hostile attitude made the entire experience very uncomfortable. Overall, I would not recommend Mandarin Inn to anyone. The combination of bad food and poor customer service is unacceptable. I hope the management takes note and makes the necessary improvements.

Wrong food delivered with missing items. What did arrive was burnt.

My go to Chinese takeaway. Try the shredded beef with chilli - you won't regret it. Their honey ribs are incredible too. Honestly this is by far the best Chinese food in Leighton Buzzard.

Excellent food, prompt and friendly service at the counter. Mandarin special curry and Thai green curry was lovely, as was the wan tun soup that had lots of pork in it. Highly recommend the food here.

Stated on the phone that they are cash only , after I said no worries I’ll have to order from somewhere else as I have no cash , a card reader miraculously appeared magic 🪄 45 minutes later the food arrived and is one the most bland and dry Chinese takeouts I’ve ever had. Wouldn’t reccomend!

Disgusting. Egg fried rice was so salty and seemed to be leftover rice that was left for a day and then delivered. Salt and pepper chicken was so overcooked and chewy. The chicken was almost black and i couldn’t finish it. Even if i tried washing it down with water after each bite it left a disgusting aftertaste! I’m sorry to be so harsh but this has to be the worst chinese ive ever had.

Ordered on the app which stated you got 10% when you made an order. Went and picked it up and wasn't given a discount so obviously I piped up about it which in turn I got a load of abuse from some bloke from the kitchen. Was telling me there is no discount even though I had it there in front of me on my phone. When we got home and was eating our average Chinese food my partner chomped down on a USED STAPLE in her chow mein!! How dangerous and disgusting. Won't be eating from here again!!

Delivery is coming 100 years and meals are not the best to be honest. Their packaging also leaves much to be desired.

After experiencing a lot more foods, restaurants, and services. I feel like it’s time for another review. Mandarin Inn is a good takeaway restaurant, it tries to do things that most don’t bother with: customer satisfaction, deliveries on time, and being there for the customer. The large selection of food kind of takes away the ability to select the best dish. While some are fantastic: BBQ ribs, the stir fry, salt and peper chicken wings, beef and cashew, battered king prawns, and some others. There’re some that I personally did not enjoy: any with bamboo in them, the shredded chicken, the salted pieces instead of the wings, but apparently my friends do. The food offered here is a mix between authentic chinese and western, so it suits a lot of tastes, but it’s definitely something to try before you find out, I am hooked, and many others too. Sadly, I don’t live in leighton, so there’re not many I can compare it with, but for the places I’ve been, this place takes first place. It’s value for money, large in quantity, the quality is good for a takeaway, some dishes can even be compared to those from high class restaurants, the people who work here are kind. It’s not always perfect, sometimes they get the order wrong, but I was immediately called after with apologies, and the driver gave me my new order very soon, I know that some may take advantage of that, but the people who eat here in my experience whilst waiting for my food, were also rather nice men and women. Sadly, it’s not a very well known place, but I do implore you to at least try this place.

The food turned up an hour earlier than we were wanted it and it was horrible, really poor quality, starter was burned and the special fried rice was all claggy as if it had come out of a microwave. Its the first time I have used Mandarin Inn and I will never use them again, If you want a nice meal I strongly recommend you don't ether.

I placed an order on Uber eats. They rang me and told me to cancel it because they are too busy. I am unable to cancel it as they accepted the order - so I now have been charged £30 and have no food! The guy on the phone doesn’t let me speak and just shouts down the phone that I have to cancel the order! Vile.

First time user. Disappointed. Collection for Dave at 9pm. Ordered 2 x chicken Chow mein. No chicken. Egg fried rice OK. Ordered sweet n Sour Chicken Cantonese Style WITH chopped Chillies. No Chillies. Will stay with Yong Hong down the road. 😒

So I came to Leighton Buzzard for the first time and tried the Mandarin Inn. I was pleasantly surprised, the service was excellent and the Chow Mein was so good. I would definitely recommend this to anyone for some quality Chinese.

Lovely hot food, cooked to perfection just how it was requested. To top it off it was Lovely service.

I had beef chow mein, and salt and pepper chips. The chips were deliciously crispy and fluffy on the inside, with a hot kick and plenty of flavour! The chow mein was soft, the vegetables were well cooked to lock in the flavours and the beef was tender and well seasoned. I highly recommend this Chinese takeout!

Started of really good we was missing Drinks and chicken balls from order called the restaurant and told me they was sent and the lady in the back ground was saying we was lieing I consider them as thieves if you want my advice stay away from them Jasmine house is better quality for food and customer service

Absolutely disgusting service. Ordered via Uber eats. Driver delivered to wrong address & made excuses it was his first day. Called restaurant to ask for order to be resent & was told 'we are busy, talk to Uber, do not call back!' I didn't even have chance to explain what I wanted or what had happened. Will never order from again.....

food arrived within 15 minutes *RED FLAG* food was cold, bland - tasting of nothing, ignored instructions left on the notes, were rude when we phoned to add an item and later complain, refused to add item and were rude doing so, ignored instructions led to potential allergens being in our food

I was told 50 mins for delivery but it took 1.30hours. Portions size have shrunk dramatically and it was cold. After 20 years of going to Mandarin Inn. Thats was my last time. They wouldn’t include prawn crackers for free either! Avoid!!!!

Lovely food. Quick and efficient service

Ordered a family meal. Came very quickly. Because it was missing half the food. Rang up and spoke to them and was promised missing items would be sent asap. After an hour rang again. Got a very rude person who said we had had eaten it and was trying it on for free food. Then asked to speak to manager who was curt but said would send the food out now. Still waiting a further 30 minutes later. So assuming nothing is coming. Got lots of sauces but no mains to go with them. Shame as previous order was great. Won't use again.

Have tried all the vegetarian/meat free options on the menu. Definitely avoid the following; The vegetarian chicken soup is a brown water with some noodles floating about in it. Both tofu dishes are vile. The tofu is deep fried sole of a slipper with anything else that they choose to throw in with it and inedible. The mushroom chop suey is made with tomato sauce as opposed to tinned tomato's, truly is awful. Spring rolls or so they say they are, crusty mush. Vegetables seem stringy and low quality and even the mushrooms sweaty and soft. If you are desperate have the mushroom curry - but you can knock that up yourself with some curry sauce in 5 minutes and that will cost you a fraction of the price that they charge here. Save your money - this lot are stuck in the 1970s. You'll get better by making your own or buying from the supermarkets. Usual story of a food outlet serving people who want a meat free/vegetarian meal a load of rubbish.

Abysmal service this evening for a collection order. Food due to be collected at 8:15 had to chase three times were our food was. At 8:40 we were finally given our food asked for a can of Fanta on the house due to wait and was shouted at by staff asked to speak to another member of staff and request completely ignored! After getting our food home the disappointment continued, food dry and bland! Chicken balls were disgusting just disintegrated when you bite into them. We will not be going back here EVER!!!! AVOID AT ALL COSTS

Placed order Saturday 7.30pm. Was told an hour and charged more than the menu prices. When questioned this was told of increases. I continued with order. After 1h 10mins rang and was told 20 mins. After 30 mins called and was told they would deliver themselves. The driver then called to say he was outside but he was at the wrong address. Explained where I lived and 10 minutes later he still couldn’t find the address. Cancelled order and in current times don’t think it’s right taking cash only.

I don't eat Chinese food but my family seem to enjoy it.

Used to be my favourite chinese takeaway. I think it has changed hands now. The prices have shot up, the food Was dreadful. My order was wrong when delivered. The only flavour from the rice was pepper. I’ve given them a try a couple of times now & tonight’s was worse than ever!

We ordered over £32 worth of food for a family treat. When we saw we were missing the chicken balls that we'd ordered and paid for, we called the restaurant. We were told 2 people checked the order and we were lying about not receiving them. No offer was made to replace or refund, & their attitude was appalling. They clearly lack basic customer service skills & we would discourage anyone from ordering food from this place. Disgraceful.

Been going too this Chinese for many many years, today will be the last . Ordered our annual xmas eve meal and didn't receive the pancakes for the duck. This wouldn't be so bad but when we rang up to let them know we just got called liars and to look again... after insisting that this was not the case they called us a liar again and told they will do nothing to correct this .

AVOID AT ALL COSTS, OVERPRICED. Disgusting food. Ordered 'Prawn' toast for nearly £8 and chicken toast arrived. Would not recommend. Small portions overpriced. Horrible unhelpful staff.

The meal for one is big enough for a meal for two. Delicious and fresh.

Unfortunately this Chinese is very hit and miss. I’ve had some great tasting meals from here and then had some very bland meals that don’t taste of anything. Such as the chilli with green peppers. The rice is very hit and miss as well sometimes is lovely and golden and others white and boiled. Seems different chefs work here. I asked for regular smaller portions and was still charged for and given large portions. This Chinese would be great if the food was consistent and a smaller cheaper option was available as the portions are expensive and huge. I also see through the serving hatch a chef cleaning a wok by dipping a wire brush in dirty water surrounding the wok. 😕 Definitely needs improvement.

Well I ordered a delivery it arrived as per time my wife ordered Thai VEGETARIAN spring rolls which when she started to consume had CHICKEN in them so moved on to Vegetarian Bean Curd with ginger and spring onion in sause this was like eating bisto gravy which again she left i had spare ribs really nice and then special mixed meat FRIED rice it was Just boiled rice and special curry also really poor I rang them and I was told it was just a mistake no apology cost me £37.00 !!! We will never bother again this we ordered through just eat

First time trying a Chinese, food was very pleasant. Defo earned a 5 star. Staff are very kind and lovely.

Waited two hours for our food, called up to check on it after an hour and 15 minutes and got told they'd call back when it was ready. Received a call 45 minutes later asking why we hadn't turned up yet... Rushed down to collect it, to be told they'd finished for the evening and had run out of some items (bearing in mind we ordered at 7:30pm, it was 9:30pm and there opening hours are until 11pm...). Although they gave us the money back and traded missing items for something else, I can't understand why we were only told this once we'd turned up to collect. We asked if there was anything else missing and they admitted they had run out of another item, and gave us the refund for this but were unable to replace. Unfortunately, this left one of us without any food at all... something that would've been nice to know when we'd first ordered. I've always gone to Mandarin Inn since moving here as the food is great, but I won't go back again purely due to the service. Giving a one star due to this.

Fantastic food very authentic..our usual Chinese takeaway closed for a few weeks so we had to find another and we chose this one and have to say it was fantastic it took us to another level..a tad more expensive but well worth it. The chillies beef was crispy and delicious the prawns were out of this world..we would highly recommend this take away above others we have tried.

Constant mix up of order and dishes vary so much depending on the chef. Very disappointed 😞

A great place to go. The food there is tasty with great customer service. You can also order your food for free if over 20 pound which is decent. But if you're in lu7, this fast food is a must try for sure.
