Mandarin House in Wellingborough

First time ordering from this takeaway, but have to say was impressed, great attention to allergies on ordering, good food and fast service .

They do some really nice vegan options.

Have eaten from the Mandarin House many times over the last 30 years. Food is always hot and fresh. Always greeted with a smile when ordering/collecting. Have never been disappointed!! Would definitely recommend 🙃

After reading the reviews, I thought I’d give mandarin house a go. Very polite young lady took my order. After arriving home, upon first inspection, the first thing noticed was how cold the food was! The sweet and sour pork was clumped together, and so overcooked that it took fingers to prise the pieces apart, but then on further inspection they were just too hard to consume. By the way, I’m presuming the solid orange jelly at the bottom of the container must’ve been the sweet n sour “sauce” which could’ve actually, have been able to be sliced!! We all actually hysterically laughed as the gloop actually rolled out onto the plate in one single lump!! Soooo, then there was the most anaemic, bland, and sorry looking chicken chow mein I have ever seen! The chicken looked and tasted, like rubbery cubes of sadness. The beansprouts smelled like dishwater, so had to be thrown out immediately. Last but not least was the beef in black bean sauce… if I had to do a blind taste test, between a leather work boot, and the beef in this dish, I would not be able to taste the difference! The watery brown sauce looked like puddle water, and lacked even a hint of flavour. My dog actually looked at me with pity as he sat watching us try to eat this “food” (I use the term very hesitantly) Im a big believer that when someone shows you who they are, the first time, you should believe them. I use this same belief when it comes to businesses. Thank you Mandarin House for showing me who you really are! I won’t be back again even if I was paid to do so. This review is your chance to turn it all around for the people who might use you in the future, £29 for a rubbish bin full of food, and hungry children, is an expensive lesson for me, but one I won’t forget. I see why you only accept cash now! It’s harder to clawback a refund!

Just tried for the first time, wow, wow wow, this has to be up there with one of the best chinese takeaway I have ever tried.

Great service, I texted in my order early so it was ready for pick up, and it's was hot and fabulous as usual. Great service.

We had a takeaway from here this evening. Normally our go to Chinese all the time. Sadly this evening we were disappointed. The salt and chilli chips were raw in the middle and the vegetables were very crunchy when normally they were cooked. Undercooked chips and raw vegetables was not a good option. Not one chilli was in the chips either (bearing in mind the name "salt and chilli pepper chips" We also ordered a chicken chow mein which was completely flavourless. No taste to it whatsoever. Sorry to say that we will be going elsewhere in the future. Such a shame as we are regulars here.

Brilliant food and Kieran lee the owners son is an absolute legend. Owner Ken lee is a beast and the woman at the front desk it so impressive and really knows her stuff. Would recommend the food aswell and the chicken balls and chicken wings were gougeous.

Very nice staff, Ken Lee what a man. The chefs whip some quality munch, would highly recommend. The staff are lovely and are always welcoming and meet all your expectations. Would highly recommend the chicken balls, Chow Main, Salt and Pepper squid. Also the complimentary prawn crackers are a nice touch. Thanks guys can’t wait to order from you guys again soon.

Best Chinese takeaway for miles

First class king prawn curry yet again, we used this place every week for ages and tonight was the 1st time in a couple of months and curry was yet again amazing. Prompt answering of the telephone for my order and it was ready when I went to collect. This takeaway kept us fed throughout first lockdown and the service is amazing

Badly let down and ignored. Very rude and unprofessional. If you don't want customers don't bother opening, There are plenty of places that offer both good food and customer satisfaction. Order placed via p.m. several hours before opening, as requested. The reply asked if we had ordered from them before. Yes we have but not by phone. That obviously wasn't good enough to allow me to order because on opening they messaged to tell me to ring the order through, that's the order we had already place early, to give them as much notice as possible because we knew they would be busy! They knew we would never be able to get through on the phone. No reply to message saying we could not get through on the phone and asking if order would be honoured! Absolutely disgusting as they potentially left us unavailable to obtain food for new year and they clearly did not give a damn about their customers or ex-customers now. It does not matter if your food is good, if your rude, ignorant and let people down there is always somewhere else with just as good, if not better, food. We went to Shek Wu instead, where we have never been let down.

Really good Chinese great value for money and staff really friendly

Has Been a while since we had a chinese from mandarin as they do not deliver and we live a few miles away, we was impressed with the social distancing measures the have implemented via the car park pick up, the food was fantastic and a real treat, we will definately be returning again in the near future.

Food was good but the staff weren't, ordered my food OK, then went to collect and was told there was a minimum card payment order which I hadn't reached, was then told to either walk to the cash machine or order more food! Staff were very very rude and made me feel like I had done something wrong by Trying to pay for my food!

We love this place. We recommend that you book a table upon open hours. On a Saturday there is more of a variety of food, at night time it's a little bit more money but worth it for the experience The staff are fast at serving you drinks, I recommend filling your table up with enough drinks upon arrival as when it's busy it can get hectic to get a drink stock up on jugs of coke or water is a very good tip.

A great takeaway, no msg laden slop that most other takeaways try and get away with. Happy it's now my go-to Chinese!

Not as good as it used to be. Food seems to have lost flavour and looks like corners being cut in preparation.

First time using the Mandarin House and have no regrets. The young lady front of house was very polite and knew her job very well. I was told that my order would be about 15 minutes, sure enough it was. Once home, my fiancee and I was impressed with the food. We would definitely recommend the Mandarin House to our friends and neighbor's, well done.

NOT GOOD I'm sorry to say that most of these reviewers are delusional. This place has been going down hill for years and the quality of food is frankly not worth the price. Though the service is nice and friendly and the speed is also acceptable you can get far better food at a far better price from Kun Yi House in Wellingborough.

Friendly staff member on front desk, wonderful food, I often find Chinese takeaway food greasy however, the food here was not at all greasy and tasted great. I recommend this place highly.

I get my takeaway from here all the time. I think their food is excellent and the staff are polite. I usually phone up to place my order beforehand and usually receive my order promptly, but be warned they are usually very busy on weekends so do expect a little waiting. But I guarantee you it is well worth the wait!

We live in Cogonhoe this is a bit of drive, but sooo worth it. The food is beautiful, service excellent, very well priced, wont use anywhere else now!!
