Took myself and my two young children here yesterday evening. Food was great and the staff including the owner were very kind and helpful.

Came for anniversary with husband and so will NOT be back - absolutely terrible service , had to ask for everything, windows really dirty! Food not nice - no atmosphere whatsoever - other guests complaining too 🤬

Sauce was runny - everything was cool verging on cold. Poor quality and a very different meal to what we'd expect from a restaurant we rate.

Very disappointed with my meal, very small portion, was very bland, very little sauce, hardly any meat, just soggy batter and the noodles very dry. This is the second time I have bought a meal and the first one wasn't great but I like to give a second chance. Food was alright but will never order again. Don’t ever normally leave reviews but feel obliged to with just how late the delivery was. Called the restaurant after it was already 40 minutes late and told it was 20 minutes away. 40 minutes later and still nothing. Phoned again and was told driver was on the way. 15 minutes later and food finally arrived. Food not worth the wait. Avoid.

Worst restaurant ever. My recent experience at Mandarin Garden in Dundee was disappointing. Despite the appealing menu, the food quality fell short. The dishes lacked authentic flavors and tasted bland. The chicken and beef were overly greasy, and the noodles were soggy. The service was equally subpar; our server was inattentive and seemed uninterested in providing a pleasant dining experience. We waited over 45 minutes for our main course, despite the restaurant not being particularly busy. Additionally, the ambiance was uninviting, with dim lighting and a lack of cleanliness in the dining area. Overall, I would not recommend Mandarin Garden if you’re looking for a satisfying Chinese meal in Dundee. Service: 2/10 Food: 2/10

Have been going to Mandarin Garden on and off for years. Went tonight for tea. The food was good but the service was poor. The restaurant was very quiet and there were several servers . There was a delay in taking the order, the first main course came a good few minutes before anything else. Once the table had been cleared following our main course no one came back to ask if we wanted anything else. Therefore we left quicker than we had intended. Also felt it was a bit pricey . Don’t think we will be back

Quiet atmosphere. Which i enjoyed... good to have peace and quiet enjoyed good food Very quick service aswell. I had the Mongolian beef and noodles. It was the right amount. And the flavours and the smells were outstanding washed down with a refreshing chinese beer. Happy days Staff were so polite. A restaurant i used to frequent many many years ago. As i knew the old owner very well. It was a joy to be back there

As a family we have been going to mandarin garden on and off for years. It used to be so good, however the last few times it has not been great, and has actually made me feel unwell. I gave it the benefit of the doubt last night when my family were ordering, and it’s safe to say that will be the last time. It may be the oil that they cook in.

Visited with a friend for our tea. Friendly welcoming staff. Ordered a platter to share, ribs, spring rolls, prawn toast. Peking Duck with pancakes, spring onion, and a tasty sauce and noodles. Our food was delicious, freshly made and well presented. We njoyed our visit, highly recommend here :) :)

Chicken fried rice was tasty. Chios were overcooked so were hard and chewy. Curry sauce was much thinner than usual.

absaloute joke.... told our order would be ready for 6.45pm, I get a notification to say it is ready to collect. we go down to collect and they say it is another 20 minutes!! ridiculous service!!

In short, great Sichuan and Hunan food can be had here but you have to ask for the Chinese menu, which is a bit embarrassing I think… I was hesitant to give Mandarin Garden five stars… the meal we had was excellent - Morning Glory in Preserved Tofu sauce (炒腐乳空心菜) duck in beer sauce (啤酒鴨) and Fish in preserved Vegetables (酸菜鱼). Unfortunately, we nearly had none of this as the menu we were given initially was limited to the standard British Chinese fare… we had to ask ‘is this the whole menu’… Thankfully, the kind wait staff informed us ‘we also have a Chinese menu’ and brought that around with chopsticks and bowls. I’m left completely torn… if this excellent food is available, why not market it? Especially when similar places in Dundee, such as the excellent Manchurian, provide a full menu from the beginning? I’m happy that it’s so easy to get reasonably priced, excellent Sichuan and Hunan cuisine in Dundee, so close to the DCA and other hotspots… but don’t make me ask for a special menu please?

Tasty food with punctual delivery

Stopped ordering from here as last delivery was over 2hrs and I eventually cancelled it but thought I’d give it another try but same thing happened so definitely won’t order again as food wasn’t anything special.

Had an excellent meal tonight. We were there early (before 5pm) so restaurant was quiet but the phone was already ringing non-stop with takeaway orders. The food was superb. Everything obviously freshly cooked to order and very tasty. Service was excellent too. If you want a decent, no fuss Chinese restaurant this place is great!

We order from this Chinese regularly as its our go to, but will not be after the lack of professionalism tonight, Food tasted sour like it was off so when I rang up to ask for compensation on the food and details about a wrong item in our order we were told that the boss does not speak English and does not care. As the item they mistakenly misplaced was £3.00 more than the original item we ordered he took that to not refund us or come to agreement to compensate regular customers. Unprofessional

Ordered at 5 and still not here 3 hours later. Have phoned the restaurant numerous times and have been told that it's on its way repeatedly, yet it is nowhere to be seen as of yet.

This is literally the most authentic chinese food you will get in Scotland. Ask for the chinese menu. Raymond the chef is brilliant and all the staff are lovely, people complaining need to grow a backbone, this place is fantastic. Try the pepper chicken on the bone and the mapo tofu, tbh anything on the chinese menu you cant go wrong with. This is a place for foodies not people who want to be pampered 😂

The noodles and fried rice which were delivered both contain chicken and vegetables which is not what we ordered and not what we normally get.

Only received part delivery, was going to take another hour to receive items that they forgot to deliver, had to drag an apology out of them.

Vegetable soup is really bland and fried rice was really soggy and sour. Forgot 2 out of 4 meals. Overall disgusting and will never return.

Order was ready way before stated collection time which is not helpful when people are travelling to the restaurant to collect yhe takeaway as they live put of the delivery area. This then meant that the food was cold and the chips were dry. So for anyone ordering to collect their takeaway, be aware it will be ready way before!

Just picked up what was supposed to be a chicken chow mien it was more like slime slops taken from the bin . I’ve had a few meals from this place and none were as bad as this . Whoever the chef is tonight ? Get rid of him , by far the worst meal I’ve ever had in my life 🤢

Food was tasty, although we did have to ask to re heat the rice. Poor customer experience in general . Lights were switched off in dining area, presumably as forgot we were there. Server then came and said restaurant is now closed. Then she came back with the bill and her card machine, we were paying cash , and due to the poor service the exact amount, no tip. On leaving did explain the reason for this. Certainly would not hurry back to the restaurant.

We have eaten food for years at this restaurant but today the food was abysmal. The three starters were all very oily / greasy, the sesame prawn toast was chewy like they had been reheated and the ribs were fatty and chewy. The Chicken with oyster sauce was tasteless and the ‘sauce’ was a thin gravy. The chicken in the Gan Shao was chewy. I doubt after years that we will be back.

Great food! My advice: ask for the Chinese menu, not the English one. Great dinning experience in Dundee.

Food was delivered hot and fresh. Chicken curry was super tasty as was the chicken with broccoli dish. Served with chicken f/rice and noodles. Highly recommend - so tasty and WONT leave you bloated and thirsty (high salt level) like other places.

Food is always great from here and usually fast delivery but waited two hours for it to arrive this time. Driver explained they were a chef down and sit-in was very busy, hence delay. Food was piping hot on arrival though and demolished quickly as everyone was starving.

Secondly when I phoned back as my food still hadn't arrived after another 35 minutes. I was told that the manager wasn't in the restaurant, another blatant lie as he is the head chef, and the delivery driver told me he was in the restaurant. The member of staff had no idea when the manager was going to be in. The only good part of the experience was the delivery driver, who was very polite and apologetic for a situation caused by the incompetence of the restaurant staff and all their blatant lies. The delivery driver showed me the text he received to say my order was ready 20 minutes after they told me my order had left. This restaurant doesn't deserve to have such an excellent driver. I was also told they hold the orders back until they get another order in the same direction. If you can't fulfill the orders, you shouldn't take them. The food wasn't even worth waiting for. I won't be back!

They also have halal meat. It was a fantastic experience and really nice food. Especially who are looking for good halal Chinese in the town

The Satay Beancurd and fried rice were delicious. Will order from them again.

This was worst meal we've ever had it was inedible rice was disgusting couldn't eat crispy beef it was so overcooked noodles were very greasy all starters deep fried very little chicken or prawns or vegetables cash only will definitely not be back so disappointed

Usually Mandarin Garden’s food is excellent. This evening it was terrible. We often order the same dishes and usually are lovely. However tonight’s was inedible and ended up in the bin. The food was clearly not freshly cooked, the beef had no chilli sauce on it and the noodles had very little meat / veg / prawns etc. The crackers were clearly left overs, being chewy and inedible

Food terrible i ordered honey chilli chicken, was dried up and hard, chips awful had been pre cooked long before i received order. Chicken chewy and batter hard on chicken. Not happy with meal. Would like refund please

Delivery was supposed to be over 2hrs. Called up and they apologised and said ours will be sent out next. It must of been. However items missed from the order, quality was poor. We got the same order not even a week ago and it was excellent

Best Chinese in Dundee, especially if you ask for the real menu and get the more authentic stuff.

1 hour late, had to heat food in microwave. Not cheap and definitely not acceptable. Never again.

Visited with a friend recently, he hadn't been before and was impressed with the food served. Cannot fault the food. Tasty, cooked to perfection and good-sized portions. We'll be back!

To be fair, I don’t care about service. Only here for the food. I had 豆腐斑斓fried fish with tofu and it’s incredibly good. The vegetables go well with it. Also tried the custard bun, which is unexpectedly good. I guess they made it themselves! I will come back!

We were very pleasantly surprised by how good the food was. There were five of us and we all loved our food. We all had different things, too. Our waitress was polite and humorous. Highly recommended.

I was parked outside so Google asked me to review it. I found it easy to park. Nice frontage. Nice five spice smells coming from the kitchen.

Ordered in advance with 3hrs notice and still could not be delivered on time. Attitude of the restaurant was appalling laughing on the phone. Reason for lateness is that the sir in customers are prioritised. Call back by driver who was professional and apologetic. But this should be his job as not him running the restaurant. I'll go elsewhere from now on.

Ordered take away for delivery on 31st March 23 at 515pm via app and paid online. Expected delivery within 45 mins. As of today 5th April 23, delivery is still to arrive. Have called several times on the day and all weekend with call being disconnected each time. Very disappointed, no refund either. Do not recommend ordering for delivery PS food is usually delicious and have never had an issue before.

Ordered food at 6:30, and 2 hours later nothing has been delivered. No communication about a delay, and when we try to call the number provided, the call ends immediately. Spent £25 for nothing it seems, and need to find an alternative dinner arrangement.
