Absolutely amazing defo come back

Food is too overpriced already compared to portion size. On top of that they advertise one price on their menu and sneak in £1-£3 more for each item on the bill which is dishonest. Avoid.

Had to change my previous 5* review to 1*. Really liked this place in the past and like to patronize smaller family establishments / non chain restaurants. Unfortunately had the most disappointing experience here today 🙁. I have visited few times in the past since 2018 and even went there in March this year. Recommended this restaurant to friends and colleagues interested in African and Caribbean cuisine. During most recent visit, first observation was that the portion sizes were reduced. Two curry goat dishes ordered and one of them was significantly smaller than the other. This is something I can look past and wasn’t the main issue. Food tasted good. Isi Ewu which I had before was delicious. Problem came with the bill. I had to ask them to provide an itemised breakdown as the total didn’t sound right. They overcharged on all items on the menu! When questioned, the proprietor / manager informed me that all items have gone up by £1 from what is advertised in the menu. They never informed us when they gave us the menu or took our order. Could move past this as well as conscious cost of ingredients may have increased. However, it wasn’t an increase of £1. For the curry goats which already was overpriced for portion size - they overcharged by £3 per dish (£17.50 in menu vs £20.50 charged). The proprietor acknowledged when challenged and appeared to be surprised that they advertise the dishes for £17.50. How can you not be familiar with your own menu and pricing for one of your most popular and common dish? They also acknowledged it was embarrassing for them to overcharge on advertised pricing. Yet they decided not to take any corrective action such as charging the correct advertised price. This left a very bad taste in the mouth at the end of our dinner and felt scammed by an establishment I patronised and recommended repeatedly. What was the point of this? You managed to overcharge me and make an extra £10-£12. As a result you now destroyed relationship with existing customers. Where I used to recommend this place, now I will advise my community and circle to avoid. Is this short-sighted dishonesty really worth it for your business? Recommendation to other customers - Food tasted great but I would avoid for their mispricing, dishonesty and overcharging. If you do decide to dine here, check the itemised bill with a fine tooth comb. Images attached to evidence past visits, prices advertised on their online menu (same as printed menu supplied) and actual bill.

Amala was not properly cooked, too much lumps

The food was exceptional! I had the mixed okra and pounded yam with assorted meat. I devoured it before realizing i didn't take any pictures lol. The owner was friendly and hospitable. Food was served in a timely manner, and I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a taste of home food while far away from home.

The rice tasted well, good sized portion. However only 2 slices of plantain? No cutleries too, I wonder if this was an omission.

I placed an order for spicy beef and white rice. The meal was delicious, however, I was very disappointed with the portion size relative to the price I paid. It would be greatly appreciated if they could increase the quantity of food provided in their delivery orders, as customers do pay a considerable amount for their meals.

Good food and good customer service

This order was brought incomplete, no coke. This order came 60% spilled and the delivery man dropped it on the floor somewhere arround the hotel. I wish i have the delivery man number, why on earth did he do that. This is unacceptable and a shame

The restaurant should be renamed "mama can't cook". Her Nkwobi is just cowleg in pepersoup sause. MoiMoi is literally tasteless. Zero value for money. Just stay away guys 👎🏾

I am mixed raced, half English / Nigerian. I am always craving a taste of home. This is the closest I’ve got being in predominantly non-Nigerian space. Thank for your cooking and giving me a taste of home I so dearly Love!

Jollof rice was delicious!! We tried a range of foods that were very flavoursome and were cooked well! Dumplings were fresh and perfectly done. The lovely friendly Nigerian man welcomed us and him and his wife cooked the food. We had a great evening out. We will come back again! Thank you!

Ordered on Uber eats and it was awful. I’m half African myself so know what to expect. My order came to £40 and the portions were ridiculously small. I ordered okro chicken and there was barely are okra. Just awful. Overpriced and underwhelming.

I ordered jollof rice, pounded yam and efo riro. Let me just state that the jollof rice was good however what is that efo riro? How do you charge almost £18 for that? The soup was vegetable that wasn’t even cut, the soup quantity was so tiny that I barely had enough to eat my pounded yam. Seriously African restaurants abroad should do better, yall charge so much more abroad and still compromise on quality and quantity. It’s absolutely not okay. I still asked for plastic ware via the Uber app, of course wasn’t provided.

The Efo riro was taste amazing and Amala was made fresh. I really enjoyed it

Nice atmosphere and great customer service. I had poundo yam with okra and soup, while my friend had abula. The presentation is so inviting; it's almost too beautiful to eat. Also, the flavors were incredible, especially the balance of spices.

curry goat was tasty defo wasnt a 17.50 portion also Ive eaten alot of iceland frozen bbq chicken wings in my time and thats for sure what I got today didnt read my notes for order and no tissues or cutlery sent with order please do better

This is a great place to get authentic African food prepared fresh. The menu is packed with choices and options for even the fussiest diner. The location is good, right on the high street but lack of available parking and the 1980s decor prevent this place from being truly 5 stars.

I came here to try some authentic Nigerian food before my friends wedding. I enjoyed every bite!!! The service was amazing, the gentlemen was so kind and helpful and gave me great advice on what to order. The food was fresh and so tasty! Mama is a wonderful cook and felt very looked after! I’ll definitely be coming back! :)

A bijoux African eatery with freshly cooked food, this means you need to wait a little while before you are served your meal. Staff friendly and nice 👌🏾 👍🏾 Overall 3.5 rating for me, as there is room for improvement.

The soup with tilapia fish does not taste nice it’s not worth £16 so disappointing I wasted money I couldn’t eat the soup.

Why would you give me plain blended okra with meat from a different dish.. i can tell because it still has the red tomato sauce on it and TWO pieces of cow foot when i requested none. For £17 i am totally fuming

Delicious! Very flavoursome but not overly spicy,Not oily. Food arrived hot and fresh. Defo recommend 👌🏿 Only issue is for £17 for a main dish there should be more than 3 pieces of meat

My bean pottage was supposed to come with plantain and there is none, not even one. That is quite disappointing.

I called in to order some Nigerian dishes. Unfortunately, they had run out of two of the options I wanted. Anyhow I ordered to go pick up myself. Now the prices on the online menu are quite expensive - I was told whilst on the phone that actually there was an additional markup of 15% on the listed online prices! and the online menu was yet to be updated. The food was just about ready on arrival to pickup and I must say the dishes were tasty but, there is no way the prices should be a high as they are for what we ordered. There is mark-up and there is rip-off.. I am afraid the prices are bordering on the latter - As such, I doubt I will be back.

Absolutely love Mama Cook, but tonight the food was exceptionally well prepared and tasty! The Egusi stew was on point, the pounded yam was super soft! The festivals were banging, and the fried plantain was delicious! One of the best meals, I’ve had so far from Mama Cook, over the past six year!❣️😋 Chefs kiss!!💋🙌🏾…Compliments to the chef!🧑🏾‍🍳👏🏾

Waited 45 minutes for food. Staff apologised but this is a long time to wait. Chicken was tough and black. They had no oxtail and when offered beef tried to charge extra even though the oxtail dish was more expensive so went for fish. No rice and peas either. If you don’t have these items, please take them off the menu. I was just disappointed with my first order and won’t be returning, sorry.

First African food trial went extremely good :) i loved fufu and something delicious i ate with it as well as jello fried rice omg so yummy The chef made it from her heart i could feel, lovely staff. Will visit again.

I ordered food on different occasions and each time l would ring to place order them drive to collect the minimum waiting time is the same very long even after pre-ordering which is no less than 55 minutes which is not good for business as no one wants to wait so long. I am disappointed by their service to customers. I wouldn’t recommend them at all they really don’t care about customers.

The only disappointment is that there was no chicken soup amd the substitute was damaged

The order was supposed to be ready for 18:05. We arrived at 18:15 and they hadn’t started to prepare the food. They were waiting to confirm the order with us when we arrived! It wasn’t ready until 19:00. Other customers both dining in the restaurant and picking up orders were also having issues

We ordered fried plantain, oxtail stew with rice and kidney beans, and jollof rice with assorted meat. By far the Oxtail stew was the best! The meat just falls off the bone and there’s so much flavour but we didn’t get enough stew. The beef tripe was also quite chewy and difficult to eat which would’ve been better if it was cut into pieces. There was another piece of meat… we didn’t know how to eat it as there wasn’t any meat on it. Overall we had a lovely experience and would come here to try a new dish.

Ordered amala and gbegiri soup and absolutely loved it!

The serving staff didn't know what was on the menu. My friend asked for grilled plantain but was told that they don't do grilled plantain despite it being on the menu. Another diner asked for Coke Zero but was told that they don't service Coke Zero. He then asked for Diet Coke but was told the same despite it again being on the menu. The serving lady then changed her mind, took his order for a Diet Coke and then walked out of the restaurant to the next door off licence and bought a can :D When we asked for tap water we were told that they only have chilled bottles of water or room temperature bottles of water. We insisted that tap water was fine and then we were served tap water. None of our food came out at the same time and the entire dining experience for 4 people was over 2 hours and closer to 3. When the bill came we realised that it was incorrect. We pointed the discrepancy out to the serving staff who changed it to be correct but when they recalculated it they got the sum wrong again and we had to point out the error. As there were 4 of us dining we paid separately. Due to tips the amount left to pay by the last of the diners was £11. He tried to pay £22 to cover his meal and a tip but the serving staff were very confused that we were paying more for the meal than they were asking. It was only after us stating twice that the money was a tip that the message was gratefully received. The entire evening was bizarre. Frankly the service sucked but in a very polite and happy way. The serving staff seemed to not know how to run a restaurant (one of the staff refused to receive a takeaway order until the customer sat down) and that is the restaurants major fault. The goat curry was very good as was the stew.

I had my birthday celebration at this place last night, our quest for Nigerian delicacies made everyone clamour for this restaurant, we were very glad we came, right from the isi-ewu, to Rice, plantain and assorted, to pounded yam and egusi and variety of drinks..... we give it to you.

As a Nigerian, I thought it would be nice to try some of our cuisine in a part of London where the choices are limited. I ordered Jollof rice with mixed meat, moi moi and edikang ikong with Pounded yam. The jollof was OK at best not really tasty, the mixed meat had 3 small pieces that did not justify the price. The two portions of moi moi were both burnt and I tried to salvage some but they were devoid of flavour. The Edikang ikong was essentially made with spinach instead of pumpkin leaves and was essentially tasteless; similarly, the three small pieces of 'mixed meat' did not justify the prices charged. All in all, I will continue to drive for miles to North London for good Nigerian food and leave this place well alone. Would also recommend that anyone used to Nigerian food avoids this experience.

Lovely African restaurant located in Feltham. I ordered goat curry, the meat was very tender, juicy and succulent, came right of the bone. The rice was also very nutty, which complimented the meat well, whilst the sauce was flavourful. The fried plantains were soft and tender.I highly recommend anyone in Feltham to check out this restaurant for quality authentic African food.

The place is nice and there is a family atmosphere We had Pepe soup, Jollof Rice and fried Yam, all really good! Prices are reasonable and the amount of food is good. We decided for four stars just because of noisy guests (there was the football match in tv). Definitely to try!!

Took over 1 hour to deliver from when order was made on a Tuesday

The food was ok but expensive for the amount given, goat curry portion was mostly large bones and very little meat! Jerk chicken was also a let down not very jerk tasting at all…. The wait was over 1 hour when originally told it would be 30 minutes.
