Malmaison Brasserie in Aberdeen City

My boyfriend and I went for dinner at Malmaison and were blown away by the excellent service that the staff provided in the restaurant. In particular, we want to thank Will who went above and beyond for us throughout our dining experience. Will is a fantastic waiter and gave us a complimentary desert for my boyfriend’s birthday which made us feel very special. We will definitely be returning in the future!

Very nice restaurant, helpful snd attentive staff and the food was delicious. Couldn’t fault it, it was 5 stars !!!! Only had starters and mains, no room fir pudding!! Pina Coladas were simply divine

Stayed here for the fourth time just recently. This hotel is outstanding. There's an excellent bar with friendly and highly qualified staff, a brasserie adjoins it. The rooms are well appointed and tastefully decorated. Room service is fantastic. The front desk staff are always happy to assist in making your stay even more pleasant.

Had a excellent meal here. Steaks were beautiful. Excellent staff and we were well taken care of by Sam, our waiter for the night.

5 of us booked for lunch for an early Christmas get together. The service was excellent. Considering it was a busy Saturday afternoon there was no long wait for either food or drinks (including cocktails). We had a mixture of turkey dinners, and i had the Doube of beef, all were delicious. The beef was unbelievably soft and tasty. Our only quip regarding the food was the frite steak we ordered was really overdone, even though that wasn't what we requested when given our cooking preference options. The restaurant and bar were beautifully decorated. However the music was too loud, in both. Along with the general chatter it made it quite hard to hear especially for the older people in our party. Would recommend.

We had Aden waiting on us and he was fabulous! The meal was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. The steaks are out of this world! My daughter was also given a special birthday treat at the end of our meal. Best restaurant ever! We’ll be back.

Had to stay at the hotel, due to a canceled flight. Went to the bar for a quick beer - so I thought - but I encountered a decent offer of whisky behind the bar. So I started asking the bartender about it, and he just took me to the whisky cage, and my lord, what an amazing offer! Old bottlings, some collectibles, and great standard drama. Callum knows its whiskies and overall behaved like and world class Bartender. Always watching for me and making sure my glass was topped up, always giving great suggestions followed by a good chat and attention to detail, not just with me but with all guests in the room. Even when speeding, he made it look like he smooth service. Very much appreciated for his hospitality and the whole hotel staff in general. Highly recommend. Thank you Callum!

Tuvimos nuestra cena de aniversario de boda allí a finales de agosto. Reservamos con antelación y conseguimos una bonita mesa en el centro del restaurante. Buen ambiente pero un poco oscuro. También parece que sale demasiado olor a comida, principalmente humo de barbacoa, de la cocina abierta.Teníamos una ensalada de queso de cabra, remolacha y achicoria, y calamares para empezar. Ambos muy frescos y sabrosos. Teníamos un chuletón grande para compartir como plato principal, con patatas fritas y champiñones como acompañamientos. Igualmente delicioso, bistec perfectamente cocinado. Acompañado de una jarra de shiraz.Para el postre, disfrutamos de una tabla de quesos y un budín de caramelo y cafés. I was given a champagne lunch for two and used it in February. This was our first visit.The brasserie was not singposted and we had to find it by trial and error as all the staff were busy with other clients. Once we got there we only had to wait a couple of minutes before being shown to a table. We thought the table was a bit dark with no nearby lighting, but no others were available.The waitress took our drinks order then took our food order, and then pointed us in the general direction of "the starters". We helped ourselves to some of the plates there, but I was very disappointed to discover much later that there was also a chilled seafood section.Main courses were tasty when they arrived but my meat was absolutely smothered in a thick gravy, with even more in a small jug. I did comment but wasn't prepared to wait even longer for a fresh plate.Desserts were a selection of small plates and glasses of chocolate mouse or Eton mess. Unfortunately there appeared to be a shortage of small spoons. In fact the gent at the next table was given a dessert spoon to eat from a 1 inch diameter glass - he ended up using his finger to scoop up the mousse.Again the toilets were not signposted but this time another guest was able to point them out. We may be back but right now I'm not sure.

We visited Chez Mal after having enjoyed their fare in London last year. Sadly this experience came nowhere close to our London welcome and service. The welcome was lukewarm and food was no better than OK. Where our special treat was not spoiled, we would be reluctant to return. Hopefully it was an off day and we were unfortunate.

Overpriced food, the steak was just horrible, said this to the member of staff he just replied "ok", was not interested the slightest. Never again.

Never been here before and won’t be coming back. The place looks amazing and gives off fantastic vibes on arrival. The food is expensive... and for what you get it’s so overpriced. It’s awful. We had to wait 45 (forty five) minutes to be served our starters. In total we were here nearly 3 hours for our 3 courses. Absolutely ridiculous. I feel there was a lot of corporate customers here and they’ll be prioritising them over a casual “family meal”.

Visited with family friends for dinner. The food was exceptional, well presented and hit the mark on all courses. Service is attentive but not too intrusive. The restaurant is currently undergoing refurbishment but this did net detract in the slightest from our all-round experience. Highly recommend and will most certainly be back.

Thoroughly enjoyed an evening of cocktails and delicious steaks, served by Hannah and Murray, many thanks for your attentive service! The brasserie is currently being done up so we were seated in the bar area which we really enjoyed, there was a great atmosphere and we felt relaxed and well looked after all evening. Highly recommend the sticky toffee pudding and the Black Forest martinis- delicious.

Visited for the Christmas Day dinner, which at £99 was a little pricey, but time of year, the venue, etc, it is what it is, and I chose it so can't complain about that (and I'm not).

We had our staff Christmas night out at Mal Maison the other weekend, enjoying a meal in the Hauf. Our server, James, was extremely attentive and made sure our glasses were never empty. He had lots of recommendations on wine and other drinks which always hit the mark. I'm sure we will be back!

Visited here to celebrate my father’s birthday. The food was wonderful and we had excellent service from our waitress, Beth. Beth was attentive, polite and even organised a special Birthday Dessert; we will definitely be back!

Tuvimos un té de cumpleaños con champaña aquí. Debido a que uno de nuestro grupo está bastante discapacitado, tuvimos que sentarnos en el restaurante en una mesa adecuada. También necesitábamos una silla con brazos. El personal no podría haber sido más servicial. Trajeron una silla del bar y un montón de cojines. Todo hecho con una sonrisa. Esto significaba que mi amiga estaba muy cómoda y podía disfrutar mucho.

Went here with friend here for 40th lunch celebration. Really enjoyed the food, atmosphere and range of cocktails on offer. Dean and Chantelle were also very kind to give us some cocktails to help celebrate the birthday. Fan lunch / afternoon. Great place.

We’ve been here for another lovely night with great food in a nice atmosphere. Staff are normally friendly and attentive. There are rooms if you want a private party too. Food cooked to a high standard and plenty on the menu to choose from. The only negative, my bill is normally wrong. - if I’ve paid a deposit they forget to remove it. If it’s not that there’s something else on it. Other than that. Always a lovely night.

I found the visit very pleasurable. As soon as i walked in the door I was sat by Dean who was very pleasant and informed me that our waiter was Scott. Scott was so helpful the whole evening, ensuring we had everything we needed and was great to chat to. When it came to ordering the steak, James advised the best cuts which was hugely appreciated. The food was then served by Beth and Pauric, who were both equally as helpful. After dinner we sat in the bar which had a great atmosphere, which was hugely down to the friendly and enthusiastic staff. The visit was really enjoyable and all the staff are a assest to the Mal team. Would highly reccomend.

Llevé a mi familia a malmasion para una comida. Tuvimos un excelente servicio desde el momento en que entramos por la puerta. Dean, el camarero, es tan bueno en su trabajo que nos hizo sentir muy bienvenidos. La comida era increíble y sin duda volveremos pronto.

Visited the bar and restaurant while staying in the hotel. Food is outstanding - I had the signature aged steak that was precisely cooked and so tender. Though pricey it was totally worth the cost. This is an upscale restaurant with most diners dressed for the evening. Several groups were in the private rooms and noticed several larger groups celebrating birthdays etc. Even with the full house, service was excellent. Though I was dressed more casually (nice golf shirt), I was welcomed as well.

Good meal with reasonable service apart from initially took 20 mins to get a G&T; after both choices from limited list were out of stock...

James was our server tonight and he was very polite and very friendly, he gave us amazing service tonight!! Bronwyn and lynda also were extremely polite and very friendly towards our table and I loved the atmosphere!!

Spent an enjoyable 2.5hrs eating some very tasty food. A good spread was available at the starter buffet even though we were one of the last available seatings 3:30pm. Both pork and beef roast were very nice, although I think the roast pork belly is the better choice, succulent, slightly caramelised and oozing flavour. A super choice of puddings to close things out, with 8 different puds to choose from, or you could have them all if you fancied. Unfortunately the service wasn’t completely on par, table service was adequate but with a few long waits for dishes to be cleared, and the drinks service was woefully slow needing chasing up. Overall an enjoyable meal slightly let down by the service.

Having visited the Dundee Malmaison for Sunday lunch a while ago, which we thoroughly enjoyed, we were hoping to have a similar experience here. We waited to be seated as the person in front of us was in for a chat with the waitress at the desk about their weekend and we were completely ignored for over 5 minutes listening to their conversation. The friend eventually turned out not to be in for a meal but just a chat. We were shown to our seats and ordered drinks, mine arrived promptly however we had to remind a waitress 10 mins later about my partners. We ordered the chefs table and roast beef. Half the things from the chefs table were missing, no bread although the salmon was lovely. The roast arrived, the beef was nice although the roast potatoes were like eating rubber and the roast veg had no flavour. We waited about 20 mins for our table to be cleared after our mains by which point I cleared it myself as they kept leaving piles of plates next to us as we were sat near the kitchen entrance. There was a small selection of deserts and even smaller selection of cheeses although what was there was nice. Again we waited ages for the table to be cleared and ask for the bill but we had to go to the desk ourselves where they added a service charge, I’ve never had to do this but I asked for this to be removed considering the awful service we were given. It seemed no one was in overall charge and it was just chaotic. We were not to only people in there complaining. Such a shame as we would have loved to go back regularly if it was good.

We visited here for our anniversary dinner and had a perfect evening. The service was brilliant, we were given a glass of champagne each to celebrate which was a lovely gesture. To start I had the Spanish charcuterie board which was delicious, especially the mini chorizos. My husband had the scallops which were equally as good. We both had steak for main, my fillet was cooked to perfection and my husband had the côte de boeuf which he enjoyed. The onion rings and truffle and Parmesan fries were crispy and tasty. We had a bottle of the merlot which was at a perfect temperature too. We will definitely visit again as there’s lots on the menu I would like to try!

We were a group of 6 adults who arrived a bit late in Aberdeen on a Saturday night. The hotel was able to accommodate us and gave us an 8:45pm reservation. We were weary and tired from a long journey from Canada, and a delicious meal was just what we had in mind. The food and drinks did not disappoint, in fact the steaks were fantastic. The only reason I am not giving my review 5 stars is because the service was exceedingly slow. We had to wave down our waiters several times to obtain more water or another round of drinks... lucky for us we were not in a rush, but as it was we didn't wrap up until midnight. Bit late for most.

We came here for dinner recently. We had the calamari to start which was good. The crab and scallop risotto main was delicious. The lamb main was nice too, although a small portion. For dessert, we had the sticky toffee pudding which was great. There was only one waitress on and the restaurant was quite busy, this made for painfully slow service.

So much deliciousness.. crab and scallop risotto for two followed by hazelnut brownie and bread pusding desserts. Super efficient service by Scott and a lovely welcome from host Dean.

After a beautiful sunny day in the lovely city of Aberdeen, my partner and I headed the Mal for food and drinks. As we arrived before 6pm the restaurant was not ready to reopen so we waited and had a drink in the bar area. I’m afraid to say that this Malmaison is looking very work out and tired abs in desperate need to renovation. The sofas and their cushions are worn and the the whole place is dark and doesn’t have that cosy welcoming feeling anymore. For the price of the drinks (London prices!) it doesn’t feel value for money and is screaming for a makeover.

Traveled to Aberdeen to meet some friends and went to the Gin & Jazz event at Mal. The Brasserie is HUGE! Staff were amazing, food fantastic and we LOVED the gin. Thank you so much, we look forward to returning.

My family and I decided to visit Malmaison Aberdeen whilst up from Cheltenham visiting family and friends. We visit Malmaison regularly back home and thoroughly enjoy dining there. However, upon arrival we received a very small table for the 3 of us, then to be told a large list of shortages including, wines and steaks. This was disappointing, however we opted for 2 T-bone steaks and a Cotes De Beouf both were delicious and very flavoursome. We skipped dessert and decided to order some whiskeys off of the enormous whiskey list, however the female manager serving us was quite abrupt in explaining they didn't have what we wanted, so we decided to order a Dalwhinnie 15yr which was not what we received - disappointing again. I then stopped our waitress Hannah to explain, who quickly sorted us out with the correct whiskey.

A quick catch up with an old friend, great steaks, great service. The restaurant was very busy but the staff were very attentive and friendly, 100% will be returning.

I visited last Sunday, with my wife and children for my 50th birthday. Upon arrival I was greeted with a glass of fizz as a birthday gift - this was a nice surprise. The food was exceptional and such good value for money too. The buffet had very good selection for starters and the roast beef was delicious, even the kids enjoyed it too. Our waitress Hannah was wonderful and even got my kids up to sing happy birthday with her whilst they gave me a Happy Birthday Slate which was a nice touch to end lunch.

I went here with my partner for our anniversary meal. Was served by Hannah. Such a wonderful evening, felt completely provided for! Great cocktail too #voteforpedro

Had a great afternoon tea at Malmaison this afternoon - the food selection was fab and Murray and AJ provided great service

Very good restaurant inside the Malmaison Hotel. The food was very good and the waiters were wonderful.

Went here for my mums special birthday and 100% would not return. Despite booking our table over a month in advance we were placed at a massive round table which we could not hear eachother across. Sat down, had to ask for menus. Had to ask for a drinks order. Drinks took 45 minutes. We chased them THREE TIMES and ended up going to the bar ourselves for a coke and bottle of wine. Burnt burger and the toughest steak I’ve ever eaten, presentation of food very poor.

Food is nothing special, have eaten here a number of times. Seriously overpriced for what you get.
