Mal Al Shaam Arabic Sweets in Manchester

Great sweets but not professionally run. Visited and loved the sweets and I know arab/middle eastern sweets. I was traveling another day and Wanted to take stoke sweets as a gift to the airport. Called twice to put in an order and no one picked up. Decided to go to the store directly and told the two guys I had called and no one Picked up. They said they had been busy. When I was there there was no one else in the store so I placed my order, said it would take like 10 to 15 minutes and decided to make sure the number I had was correct. So I called from within the store. It rang and NO ONE picked up. They just let it ring. I told them to forget about my order and just proceeded to the airport. Although the sweets are great the guys obviously have ZERO idea how to run a business.

We visited here to get some baklava and knafeh. The gentlemen that served us was kind and the desserts were great. Will be coming again.

We returned to Mal Al Shaam bakery and had the most amazing sweets! We got freshly fried qatayef filled with walnuts, basbousa, mamoul & also a pistachio cake with almonds and other nuts on top. The texture was really interesting as it was like a thick, chewy paste. The mamoul was nice and crumbly, as yummy as the ones I have had at my friend's 😋😋😋😋 The basbousa had a really fragrant scent and sufficient syrup and the qatayef was very generously filled. We love this place and can't wait to return to try other treats!

Visited Mal Al Shaam for the first time for a post-lunch sweet fix and it was really nice. It's a lovely little bakery with 3 tables and a few seats so you can dine in which is great. We got some künefe with cream, basbousa and qatayef. We usually have künefe with cheese so the one with cream was different but we really liked it. The basbousa was OK, I have had better. The qatayef was my fave - it was filled with walnuts and was very crisp & fragrant - indulgence on a plate! Overall, we really like Mal Al Shaam and would definitely like to visit again in future to try the other delights like baklava. Defo recommended! Check it out when you are on the curry mile!
