Mak in Dumfries & Galloway

This restaurant is such a lovely setting for an evening meal out. The cocktails are gorgeous, the food is beautifully presented and most importantly really yummy! I cannot fault the staff here either, extremely friendly and nothing is too much trouble. Special thanks to Zainab for a warm welcome and for taking such good care of us during parts of our evening!

Went here with 3 friends on Thursday night from the time we arrived the waitress made us feel so welcome. She was just so polite and lovely. The food was absolutely outstanding we all opted for Tipsy Tapas which was so good with plenty of food. Will definitely visit again and highly recommend

I had dinner booked for a friend and I for 8pm on a Saturday night and were one of three tables, it was very quiet.. should have been a warning there... We ordered a couple of starters to share, of which we were told they didn't have any of those left so had to choose something else (and the menu is already quite small), we chose houmous and flatbread. As soon as we had finished our starters our main was brought out immediately and was freezing cold, we had ordered the mixed grill to share, so had cold meat for our main that had obviously be sat around for awhile... overall expensive for what was served, and I won't be returning.

Today was my first visit to Mak and we chose from the Tipsy Tapas £20 menu. Padron peppers, lamb meatballs, feta salad were my choice. My friend had chilli salad, bruschetta, patatas bravas and an extra of chicken gyros. We both had the included sangria plus a wine/beer. The service was excellent, the food fresh and tasty and the ambience top notch. Very good value for money and close to the Assembly Halls if you are catching a show.

Absolutely perfect night. Amazing food, amazing atmosphere, amazing staff. Couldn't of been better and can not wait to return.

Festive meal with golf mates. Food was excellent and staff friendly and attentive. Plan to visit again with my wife! Can't really fault the restaurant to be honest. Price was fair but not cheap... get what you pay for!

Recommended by a few people, wish I hadn't bothered. Waiting staff very friendly, food started off positively, lovely starters, shared the humous & breaded goats cheese, really tasty. The mains were appalling, I had moussaka which I normally love, no layers of aubergine & mozzarella on top, 'greek' salad accompaniment was just a salad, neither authentic, the other main was the sizzling beef, literally 8 small pieces of steak & 1 slice of carrot & a dribble of sauce with a side of tasteless mash. Dinners arrived separately & had to wait for clean cutlery. It's such a shame the restaurant is beautifully decorated, shame the meals don't match

Friday night place was empty(should have been a warning) Main courses like two small microwave meals with iceland saver chips served through the hatch from the takeaway next door.

Mak was highly recommended to us so we booked with friends. It was a quiet night only 3 tables including ours. It just felt wrong, as if their normal chef wasn’t there and had a waiter or someone standing in, the food was ok but not as the reviews have said previously, hope that changes as the ambience was lovely

A very disappointing night, been a few times before and always been lovely, not tonight it was like the chef had not turned up and the kitchen hand was cooking. Starters all turned up separately , my self and another had ordered the prawns, we only got 1 and in the end cancelled the 2nd or I would have been eating on my own. The Greek salad was a joke with a few minute pieces of feta. Mains were better but not up to usual standards and the steak n chips were inedible due to too much salt. Also needed more waiting staff

Just had an amazing meal excellent value for money, first class service by Zai would certainly come again, highly recommend it,sharing dishes were big portions.

It has a nice feel to the restaurant and it was nicely decorated. We had to wait a few minutes to be seated as they seemed understaffed. We ordered 2 starters and bread and intended on sharing but one came and then the other came about 10 mins later. The main courses were tasty but ok. Quite expensive for what you get. Baklava was great.

Fabulous service and the food is delicious. Cocktails are great as well. All 4 of us were really impressed. Will definitely go back and highly recommend.

Tasty, fresh food and good service. Grandpa also enjoyed it and he’s not easy to please! We’ll definitely be back.

Mak had a lovely relaxing atmosphere, the food and service was excellent. Very clean and tidy. I will definitely go back
