The Mainwairing is amazing. I've only ever eaten the Sunday dinner (veggie, cauli cheese instead of meat) and it's always been brilliant. All of the meal is delicious. The cask ales are always spot on. They have an enormous rum selection! The staff are fantastic. The place is usually busy when I go, but you get a tab without asking, you get remembered and feel looked after without any fuss. Really professional vibe from all of the staff I've met. The atmosphere is as cosy as it gets, real fires, real pub. The place is the real deal. Thank you to everyone at the Mainwaring Arms.

I adore this place. It's tucked away in a little spot, overlooked by huge trees and a church. It has a tea room and the interior is an absolute dream. Lots of parking too. Like every imagined small traditional English pub, the interior is perfection with rich furnishings, a fire place, comfortable seating and gorgeous finishings. The food is delicious, and exactly what you'd expect from a pub with a few little twists. I usually always go the fish pie though, so so delicious. My only feedback is on the staff, they're wonderful and extremely organized but every visit, it feels like there isn't enough floor staff. The bar staff seem to leave it to a couple of others who are run off thier feet and feel really stressed. They're always so polite but extremely strained with the workload. Put it on your list, it's a dream. (Not good for vegetarians fyl)

Fantastic little gem. Found it on a diversion to Blackpool. Fresh food, real ales and rare rums. Only stopped in for a pint but just had to try the "rum of the month" which was excellent. Also very dog friendly with a food menu for your dogs. Very good pub

Absolutely fantastic food, proper pub classics elevated to new levels. The fact it was rammed at 4pm on a Thursday speaks volumes about how good it is. The fish pie was superb, and my mates steak & ale pie looked great. Good selection of ales, and I was also able to pick up a bottle of their signature spiced rum (batch 4, bottle 25 no less!).

The food at the Manners has improved tremendously since the current owners took over. Most people I know now accept it as the best in the area. Add to that the great, friendly staff, and it’s difficult to see how the pub could be improved.

Came on a Monday evening - pleasantly surprised to see it was really busy - advised there was a 40 minute wait on food which wasn’t a problem, but food came out well before that anyway. Staff were warm and friendly. Food was tasty and great value for money. Really nice traditional country pub. Loved it!

I recently had the pleasure of dining at the Mainwaring Arms in Whitmore, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. Nestled in the heart of the picturesque village, the pub exudes a charming and welcoming atmosphere that immediately makes you feel at home. The food was simply outstanding. The menu offers a delightful range of traditional British dishes with a modern twist, all crafted from fresh, locally sourced ingredients. I opted for the steak and ale pie, which was perfectly cooked with a rich, flavorful gravy. My companion chose the pan-seared sea bass, which was equally impressive, served with a vibrant, seasonal vegetable medley. The service was impeccable. The staff were friendly, attentive, and genuinely eager to ensure we had a memorable dining experience. They were knowledgeable about the menu and offered excellent recommendations. The ambiance of the Mainwaring Arms is one of its standout features. The rustic decor, complete with exposed beams and a cozy fireplace, creates a warm and inviting environment. Whether you're there for a casual meal or a special occasion, it feels like the perfect setting. Overall, the Mainwaring Arms in Whitmore is a true gem. With its top-notch cuisine, excellent service, and charming atmosphere, it’s a place I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience. I look forward to returning soon!

My partner had the fish curry which he enjoyed immensely however I had the chicken burger and it was revolting, overcooked and the bacon and cheese was also overcooked. Complained to the waitress and she just laughed, think she did not realise initially that I was complaining. Next the manager came.over, apologised took my plate away and did not charge for.my meal which was very nice of her. We will go again just not have the burger of any kind!

My second visit here and possibly my last. Unable to book tables, however upon arrival the staff worked quickly to find us a table depite being busy. Drinks: Ordered a bottle of white wine which was promptly served at room temperature and then placed on top of a layer of ice in a wine cooler. Had to ask for an ice bucket and then for some water to be added to the ice. Staff member didn't seem too happy about this. Clearly no training has been given on how to serve wine. Wine tasted cheap; possibly my fault for ordering a bottle of French wine sub £30. Food: Ordered a sharing plate which was described as being served with "granary bread" to accompany the pâté and cured salmon. It arrived without any bread. When questioned, a plate of pre-sliced white bread appeared. Informed our server, who checked with the kitchen and returned saying they don't have any granary bread; no apology was made and they didn't seem to know how to handle the situation. We ate the pâté and salmon on thin white bread horrible! Butter was served straight from the fridge and was impossible to spread even at the end of the meal. Seriously, if you can't pull-off a simple dish like this then I would suggest removing it from the menu. I should mention that this item was incomplete on our previous visit too, so no lessons have been learned. How hard is it for a restaurant to order a few extra loaves of bread? Judging by stale white bread it is cleary they aren't baking any bread on site. Ambiance: We liked the pub décor and the candles but the area where we dined featured rail spotlights with a harsh flood beam as opposed to narrow beam. This made us feel like we were on stage and was not conducive with the candle-lit ambiance they are trying to achieve. Also, despite the log burner, we all felt cold for the duration of the meal with most of our party unwilling to remove their coats. Overall a very disappointing visit.
