I came to Maia with my fiancée for a coffee and ice cream. It was a very sunny day, so nothing better to cool you down. The lady serving us was very polite and had a good sense of humour. The coffee and ice cream were amazing. I drank an affogato coffee (ice cream with coffee) the best I ever had. We will definitely come back again.

I had asked a friend for a recommendation of a place that made good coffee. He sent me here and I wasn't disappointed. The atmosphere is that of a small Italian gelato/ coffee house. The staff are very helpful and easy to talk to. The coffee was delicious and not over priced. I will visit again, when in Rugby.

Based on the high street in Rugby, just down from the school, is this independent gelateria. The ice creams are all made in the Italian style by the owners. Really good and recommend. Also the coffee is a great Italian roast. Did not have the crepes or cakes but they looked great.

You can't get better gelato in this country. Not only that, but Antonio and the others at Maia always have an enthusiatic welcome and offer character, humour and warmth. I heartily recommend the gelato, my personal favourites are pistachio, Ferraro Rocher and Chocolate - and where else can you get 2 flavours in a small cone? I also recommend their coffee, their crepes and their italian hot chocolate which is richer than usual hot chocolates. For something really special, have a scoop of gelato on the top. I would not go anywhere else now.

Their Facebook page says Maia are open on Friday and Saturday evenings until 11.00pm, so we went along for something to eat - we particularly liked the sound of their savoury and sweet crepes. We arrived just after 5.15pm and sat down at a table. As we were studying the menu, we were told by a guy who shouted across the restaurant from behind the counter that they did not serve food after 5.00pm, just drinks. If they cannot be bothered to cook food in the evenings, they should make it clear on their Facebook page to save people wasting their money on petrol and car park charges. We will not be going back!

Wonderful chocolate 'noir' ice-cream, which pairs well with the pistachio. A very strong flavour but a light texture, almost like a chocolate sorbet. The other three flavours tasted by family members were all excellent.Besides the cheerful service here, what I particularly like is that they offer a real Italian cappucino, and not the normal rather dilute cappucino usually encountered in the UK.

Fantastic service from this wonderful ice cream shop in Rugby.l, the staff are so friendly and service is with a smile. Maia make their own ice cream and lots of wonderful flavours to choose from. Today I had pistachio, raspberry, rum and raisin and cream-flavoured ice cream - absolutely exquisite. I also had a cafe latte which was also great. There is seating available outside of Maias and on a hot day like today it was good to sit there. Can’t wait for a return visit.

So my partner is from Italy and he speaks about getting ice cream on the way home from school but the joy and happiness which comes onto his face when he tastes the quality ice cream from Maia The staff are always so welcoming, nothing is too big to ask, the tables are always clean and dry when we arrive. Its always warm inside which makes it a great treat even on a colder day. And with a small area for children(2+) to explore, you feel so relaxed and ready to indulge into wonderful flavours

I met some colleagues of mine in here Saturday morning for a meeting. The woman serving behind the counter just grunted and never smiled, it was as if she didn't want to be there. I asked for a hot chocolate as it was cold out and I needed warming up. For £2.60 I got a small, luke warm drink. Very disappointing.

We've got there during a long vacation in UK, first and foremost because ve are truly addicted to the 'real' gelato thing, then we've been captivated by the kindness and nicety of the whole staff.Being Italian, and from the south(, the homeland of ice cream and good food!)everything there, from the people to the food (all of it: crepe, cakes, pizza and obviously ice cream) has been a great experience!

I haven’t visited before and didn’t sit inside so couldn’t comment on the menu choice. I’ve seen this venue raved about on Instagram and managed to drop in for an ice cream to take out. The choice on the day was disappointing but I guess most of Rugby had had the same idea as me. The flavours weren’t what I’d usually go for but the ice cream itself was delicious. I’d love to go back when the flavour choices have been replenished. I had two scoops (a medium) and couldn’t finish it. It was huge! My kids would love this place. Some nice little tables and chairs to sit outside if you wish. We definitely will be stopping by again should be find ourselves in Rugby town.

Visited with my wife and our three young children today, what a great find! Genuine home made Italian food served by lovely people in a pleasant setting. We had the delicious home made pizza, followed by the sumptuous ice cream which is actually home made on the premises ( I was given a mini- tour and saw for myself). Coffee is first rate as well. My kids pressed ganged me into getting milk shakes as well which they all raved about on the way home. Nothing to dislike about this place especially given the very friendly yet always professional all Italian staff. We spoke to one of the Italian owners afterwards and it was warming to see her pride in the quality of the ingredients of the food being served here. It's all home made apparently.A regular stream of customers indicates that word is travelling fast about the appeal of this place! We'll be back for sure!

Just found this place by chance when travelling back to Yorkshire on M1 it's about 7 miles off motorway but worth a detour. Was busy but service quick. Staff very friendly Had medium cup and was yummy. Authentic Italian gelato made daily by the owner. They also do coffee, crepes, cold pizza slices. The owner said they'd been open 5 months. Hope it continues. Well done.

I went several times to Maia Gelato and finally I decided to let a review. I tryed many flavours and I find Mango and pistacchio the best two, but in general the gelato is very tasty and well presented in the cone or cup. Crepes are beautiful, in particular the savory ones as you can lunch with one of them (or more ), the home made focaccia and the cakes irresistible! Talking about the café, the espresso is a real espresso as you expect to find if you are in any Italian café, brilliant and even the cappuccino is really good in particular at breakfast time! The service is very good, friendly and professional! You can sit down while they prepare your order and they will bring it to your table (very uncommon if we think about most of the pubs where it is almost "self service") and the shop looks very clean.Very nice the fact that you can even sit down outside when it is a sunny day and enjoy your Maia product along High street. What else can I say? Well done guys! Keep on like this!

I don't even know where can I start, in this moltitude of shops that they pretend to be italian and imitate the style maybe with fancy names and stuff like that, well MAIA GELATO hit the target with 100% accuracy and blindfold.I mean: this is a REAL italian shop, managed from REAL italians people and with REAL italian staff!Even the coffee and the furniture's are imported from italy!Excellent service and care about customers also during the peaks (it don't happen everywere, but they can deal with it due the famous italian care about details).Talking about their products; the only thing I can think is this: for the people who's reading this and have been at least once in italy you can be 100% that you wouldn't be disappointed, the Gelato standard is really high also for the italians standard, here we're talking about excellence.I already said that the coffee is imported from Naples? and WOW true taste of coffee grounded to perfection and made with TRUE passion!Somebody said crepes?! Yes despite the fact they are a Gelateria they have a range of savoury products for who's in need of a lunch break..not to mention the sweets crepes obviously! Sorry for the mess but I can't be helped when it come to speak about food and quality products :)Great job guys my best wishes!

First visit to this place, upon entry a staff member asked what we would like, being here for the visit and reading the board and taking in all the different flavours/items of food, i informed them that we hadn't decided as yet and that they could serve the customers that came in behind us, which they too had said that they hadn't decided. Staff behind the counter increased and one member of staff, in front of us began eating a spoonful of various ice cream from the display, without changing their spoon, the staff signed and made comments and rudely said "you must have decided" this was after a few seconds. I would have left at this point but i had promised my child that i would treat them. I encouraged daughter to choose the ice cream that hadn't been touched by the staff member. I found a scoop of ice cream in medium tub to be rather expensive. I handed over a large note and received change for a smaller note, when I raised this with server she shrugged her shoulders and raised her hands at no point did she apologise, I did receive the correct change with a grunt and slammed into my hand. Daughter did not enjoy her ice-cream, she said it tasted horrible and threw it in bin. I will not be returning and for the cost of the ice-cream I can go into the well known fast food chain nearby and buy a large meal with drink and a decent dessert and I am sure the ice-creams there would not have been picked at by a member of staff with the same spoon! If i could i would not have given any rating but am reluctant to give even one.

Visited here with the kids for one of wifey's birthday treats. Wow, what a choice of ice creams \ gelatos on offer. We tried coffee, chocolate, bubblegum, cheesecake, biscuit and a few others besides. With three flavours in a large and two in our medium sized tubs. Cones also available. The kids eyes were definitely bigger than there tums, who struggled to finish their large tubs. Little play area for the kids kept them occupied as parents finished the leftovers. There's plenty of other options, crepes, sundaes etc. Can easily be expensive though. £26 for four for ice cream. Next time it will be small tubs all round.

Gelato, Frogatto, espresso, crepes...all the delightful treats you find in Italy is found in this pretty little corner in the heart of Rugby Town Centre. I saw the Italian flag and a faint signage with an ice cream cone and my daughter and I came rushing in the store curious about what it has to offer. We were not disappointed at all. There was a good selection of gelato, salted caramel and hazelnut was what I had and was absolutely fantastic. The cafe was clean, inviting, fun, and the staff were so friendly it made the ice cream experience a joy. I also had an expresso, real Italian coffee...hmmm, will definitely go back.

We LOVE a proper Italian gelataria and were very excited to find what appears to be a brand new one on our very first trip to Rugby.Lovely people, but more importantly delicious gelato; I settled for just the one scoop of Nutella flavour, but the other half went for a baby sundae - great idea whereby you can choose two flavours and they'll add the toppings. In proper British fashion we had our ice cream with a cup of tea and a non Italian cappuccino sitting at the funky bar stools in the window.Rugby isn't a regular destination for us so who knows when we'll be back, but if we are we will definitely stop off for ice cream in this fabulous cafe.

We visited today as it’s our wedding anniversary. We got married at Draycote several years ago and thought it would be nice to revisit for afternoon tea to celebrate our anniversary. It was lovely being back there and it evoked happy memories. However, the service wasn’t good. The food itself was pretty good. We were the only ones in the restaurant yet not once did anyone come to ask if everything was ok or if we wanted anything. We had to go and find someone to ask for another drink. For our second cup of tea the milk provided had gone completely off. Leaving large bits of soured milk floating around in the cup. Mentioned this to the waitress and there barely an apology. Didn’t even offer to replace the drink. It was nice for us sentimentally to go back but I really wouldn’t recommend it for anyone else. I’d say go to one of the nicer places around here with a better ambience and better customer service.
