"Being Italian, I must admit the pizza at Made in Italy is delicious. A little cramped maybe, but other than that a great atmosphere, superb pizza and staff is very friendly (and Italian, which I always take as a good sign in Italian restaurants). The pizzas are served by the metre which adds to the restaurant’s character. Definitely worth a try, but you may want to book ahead to avoid the door seat."

Quite an experience! This is not made in Italy.. That's for sure. And quite frankly it is shameful to call it Neapolitan food! Salty, uneatable soup, salty chewy pizza, extremely expensive small bottle of water ... Customer service below zero, staff complaining and talking over the back of clients?.. No comments! Expensive experience to teach you to eat elsewhere and keep your 12.5% service charge in your pocket!

Popped in her between shows on an October Saturday for family meal. The small restaurant is nicely laid out in a traditional Italian style and had a very pleasant atmosphere. Four of our party ordered pizza which came on a traditional Italian wooden board, a couple of feet in length, which was placed on a raised platform on the middle of the table. The food was really good and very reasonably priced, particularly for London's West End. very hand for anyone attending one of the local theatres to see Miss Saigon, Once, Matilda, or the Commitments, as it is just a short walk from these, and other local theatres.Staff were very friendly and helpful. Will certainly return here on the next London trip.

The restaurant is at the start of Old Compton Street just off Charing Cross Road. It was fairly quiet on a Saturday lunchtime and we thoroughly enjoyed our gnocchi and penne pasta. Menu said 2 course for one price and three for another price but it didn't mean that when we were presented with bill. After an argument they managed to at last explain that you had to have a starter and main course for 2 courses and starter, main and dessert for 3 courses. (ie you couldn't have main course and dessert as 2 courses). This wouldn't have been too bad but the food was definitely below par. Plenty of other places to eat nearby.

My partner and I came to this restaurant for dinner on Saturday the 15th before seeing a show. We were hugely disappointed. The staff were rude, the steak was not up to par, the pizza tasted of sweetcorn, and we paid far too much for it. We were told we had to be in and out within an hour, which i thought unbelievably rude, it was for the same reason that we were not allowed desert (we ended up going elsewhere for desert!!) and I couldn't have any of the drinks i wanted because the waiter 'didnt have the right fruit'!! On valentines Saturday night the restaurant had no stock!?!?!!?After being ignored for 20 minutes (the clock was ticking we only had 40 left) we finally got a menu, were able to order drinks (what was left) and choose some food. There were no potatoes for chips either so our options were cut down even further. Then the bill came, and i had no choice but to pay a service charge for a frankly rude and unprofessional waiter. I cant express enough how bad our experience was

Overpowering smell of BO, late, below average, overly garlicky food arriving at random times, an hour's wait for a main course, NO PIZZA available (erm...), inattentive and disinterested service, all finished off nicely with a 12% service charge. Absolute rubbish. Avoid at all costs. Can't understand how it's even got 3.5 stars on TA. Read the recent one star reviews - they are almost identical to my experience. One of the few restaurants that has really annoyed me just by being so bad and then not even having the decency to care. No wonder it was empty. This is just my opinion. You may love it. I however would rather eat at Subway, even though the smell of Subway alone makes me gag. Disappointing times.

Went for lunch here with out 2 children yesterday. The food was absolutely awful. Pancetta was in all of our pasta dishes and it was a little bit of bacon and huge great big chunks of gelatinous fat- YUCK. It was above average prices too. The seats were covered but ripped and it looked like they were mouldy underneath. Along the back of the fixed seats were ornaments that had been dusted around not moved so you could see thick dust. We left a lot of our food and the waiter never asked why...perhaps he already knew what the answer was????We also ordered 'rustic assorted bread' which was ciabatta cut up into chunks served in a basket for £2.50. We don't mind paying over the odds if the food is good quality but this was shockingly disappointing. Don't go there choose somewhere else.

I went there with my partner and my family yesterday. The quality of the food was poor,: spaghetti with clams had no flavour at all, the the price wasn't worth it. 3 pizzas served in a wood plate, cooked all together like a 1 long pizza (4 slices each) wasn't worth the price, and scallops with salad, scallops were dry and over fried. Didn't worth the price. It's a bad reputation for Italy and italian food, cause in Italy the food really has a taste and pizzas are much better.I won't suggest the restaurant to anyone.

A friend and I were recently in Soho on a weekday evening when we passed this restaurant and, attracted by a very reasonable dinner offer that included cocktails, thought that it was worth a try. The waiter who took my initial order was friendly and attentive, although didn't have a particularly good grasp of the English language and had difficulty explaining the details of the offer to us. The starter, a selection of bruschetta, meats, and vegetables, was very good, and although the cocktails weren't anything special, they were good value.Problems however came with the main course. I ordered a funghi pizza, which at over £10 was more expensive than I would have expected. As it arrived, a *very strong* and quite frankly overwhelming aroma of garlic was being emitted from it, to the extent that both myself and my friend were immediately taken aback; it was even evident that the people at the neighbouring table could smell it too! Being rather hungry, I proceeded to tuck in, but could only manage a third of the pizza, for it simply tasted awful. Knowing that I never leave food on my plate, my friend was shocked, and asked to try a bit, but she too thought it disgusting. The primary flavour was burnt garlic, which overwhelmed everything else, and there was far too much (garlic-flavoured) cheese and very few mushrooms. Of course, I expect there to be garlic in Italian food, but this really was ridiculous, and I can only think that it must have been a mistake on behalf of the chef.We were in a bit of a hurry, and I am always embarrassed to complain to staff about such things, so I didn't make a fuss at the time. However, when the waiter came to collect our plates (a bald chap who was different from the fellow who had first served us), he showed no interest in asking why I had left most of my food; in fact he did not seem to speak a word of English, and even asking for the bill was a bit of a hassle as he didn't seem to understand what we were saying. I don't wish to be unfair, but as a result of that pizza, I have to say that this was probably the worst meal that I have ever had in Central London, and while I think it perfectly understandable that Italian waiters should be hired to work in an Italian restaurant, it is inconvenient when they appear to lack any ability to understand English. This being the case, I would avoid this restaurant in future and could not recommend it to others.

Made in Italy is an authentic Italian restaurant serving mid range pizza, pasta, antipasti and salads. It is slightly more expensive than your average Pizza Express but the price reflects the quality. This restaurant is now a chain of sorts however the King's Road location was the first to open. It began trading in 1989 and has held it's place as an authentic Neapolitan restaurant ever since.Pizzas range from £7.65 to £11.65, while the more expensive pasta dishes can stretch to £13.95, not bad considering they contain ingredients such as tiger prawns, clams, squid and mussels.I like their Ravioli Anima e Core (ravioli filled with spinach and ricotta £10.95). The Carbonara wasn't bad either (£9.95) but the main reason I think people go here is for the woodfired oven pizzas. They are very well made and overflowing with very good quality toppings. The decor is cosy and comforting, and they have a lovely outside roof terrace where you can eat, drink and watch the world go by.Probably not somewhere you'd go regularly, but certainly for a special occasion.

In addition, when I said to the manager that for me the price and the treatment was unfair, he suggested me to eat at home.....such a rude person.if you want better Italian food (trust me...) and treatment just walk few meters and you'll get to rossopomodoro or fratelli la bufala. And by the way starters were poor:- 2 slices of bread with some aubergine on it- 3 (three) slices of bresaola on rocket salad and some parmesanUNFORGETTABLE EXPERIENCE !!!

The restaurant is rather like entering Dr Who's Tardis - it's much bigger than you think! There are a few tables at the front (and outside if the weather is nice!) but the main area stretches back behind the pizza oven.We were warmly welcomed and opted for the pre-theatre set 2 course menu at £12.95; there were about 3 choices for for each course and the starter (asparagus and Parma ham) arrived very quickly and was delicious. The main courses arrived after a slight pause (Ravioli Burro E Salvia and Scaloppina crema di limone e Radicchio) were delicious as was the presentation; the portions weren't over generous but you felt satisfied after the meal. We finished off with espresso coffees but the sweets and pudding menu offered a very good choice of dishes. The Peroni beer was lovely and cold as was the bottled water but the water (and the wine) were rather pricey. The staff were very friendly and the service was excellent - will definitely be calling in again on the next visit to London!

We visited the restaurant for a quick meal before a show, this was the only one with a free table and we now realise why. My chicken salad consisted of two cherry tomatoes cut in half, two warm green beans, over cooked dry sliced chicken, the remainder of the plate or should I say the majority was brown lettuce and rocket. There was no dressing or seasoning. My wife's goat cheese salad had the same amount of poor ingredients but at least the cheese was warm and nicely melted. We asked on three occasions for some tap water but none ever appeared, I suppose as there is no profit in mere tap water. Unfortunately the service charge was included in the bill and no member of staff asked for my opinion on the meal so I was unable to express my displeasure. I hope visitors to our capital don't consider using this establishment.

Note: camerieri italiani, gentilezza e cortesia. Buono il rapporto qualità/prezzo.

I ate here on a recommendation by a friend. I loved the novelty of ordering pizza by length to share with friends-up to a metre! And the pizza was so fresh and tasty. Good atmosphere, very busy and not bad value for money. Will definitely eat here again.

Beware, especially for the Americans--this is Italian, Italian, not American Italian. I had the Orrechiete with Broccoli and I couldn't put my fork down. The wine was excellent and the pizzas were outstanding, made with the freshest ingredients including buffalo mozzarella. We will be back next year!

This place pooks good, the service is friendly and good but the food is poor. You would be better off in Pizza express or one o the other chains if you want a good pizza.

Personale giovane simpatico molto attivo. Antipasti molto curati. Unico difetto acqua e birra portati a tavola a temperatura ambiente e cioé caldi.

This place didn't do it for me. Run by Italians - really?A reasonable atmosphere, what looked like a good menu, spoilt by poor quality food. Had olives and 'home-made' bread to start - the olives weren't great, no real attempt to give them much flavour. The bread would have benefitted from being served warm. The pizza was poor - the idea of serving on a platter board is a bit of a gimick, and would be ok if it was a good quality pizza. Pizza was a bit soggy, rather stodgy and lacking in toppings, and again lacked flavour. The mixed salad was unadventorous. Wine choice was below average (and expensive). Completed the meal with a double expresso - which was rather toxic.Staff were good and attentive. The place needs to look at the quality of it's food, and go back to it's supposed Italian roots.

Just the worst dining experience at Made In Italy Mayfair. We ordered Parmigiana and Mussels to start. Both were close to being cold and there was very little sauce with the mussels. Normally there wouldn't be a mussel left, but even though we were sharing a starter we left over half.In between the starter and main, the waitress came over to fill up our glasses, she filled them nearly to the brim and then split some on the table. Accidents happen but no effort was made to clear up.We were quite hungry after the disappointing starters, but sadly the mains were even more disappointing. My carbonara was cold and the sauce gunky. Finally we ordered the bill... this involved getting up and finding someone as after waiting 15 minutes it was clear the staff has switched off.We left about 9.30... never to return.

A family group of 5 on a saturday night in February half term. I was passing at 5.30 and popped in to see if there was a table free a couple of hours later, fortunately there was. What a great night we had. The restaurant is reasonably small, had an excellent atmosphere with friendly and helpful staff.3 of us each ordered a pizza which came as one giant one which was a pleasant surprise. The food was very good and a meal for 5 (with drinks) was £30 each. Not bad for London theatreland prices. We had a great evening and I would recommend a visit.

We were going to see Jersey Boys so needed a restaurant that was near and didn't break the bank. This restaurant fitted the bill perfectly. Ordered off the pre-theatre menu which was a choice of three starters (we had the mushroom bruschetta) and then the mains were limited pasta menu or any pizza - cannot complain at this for a set price menu. We had two different pizza's between the two of us and didn't realise that it would come by the metre. What a pleasant surprise!! We had half a metre of pizza and enjoyed it thoroughly. Fast efficient service - we went peak time on a saturday night and were not left waiting for food and all our needs were attended to!I will be returning.

Can't seem to convince TripAdvisor not to write this review against Old Compton St when I actually went to the restaurant on James St, a short walk from Oxford St and up from St Christopher's place. Its only a small place, some outside seating, some on ground floor, and then upstairs. Went in for dinner with my father. The atmosphere is indeed good. Very friendly and attentive staff, service timely and not pushy. I had bruschetta to start which was excellent. My "divalo" pizza was tasty, but not really very spicy. House wine was good. Dad had pasta and had no complaints. Nice italian meal. Prices very reasonable - £50 for 2 for 2 courses plus wine. There are about 6 of these places through London.

Soho is trouble if you want to have a nice dinner on a saturday evening. All places are packed and the waiting list is long...Wondering around, we spotted this place, came in and we were told that we had to wait 10 minutes. In less than that we were seated by the manager. The atmosphere is great: Italian music playing, Italian staff (all very friendly) and cozy decor. We had the mixed starter (which the waiter kindly suggested) and two pizzas. The pizzas are served by lenght, so if you order more than one they will bring you a long wooden board (25cm for every pizza you order, up to 1 meter). We had 50 cm pizza, which looked and was delicious. Best pizza in London together with Fratelli La Bufala.Dessert was good, the waiter kindly suggested the Tiramisù, homemade and really good.Total bill: 1 mixed starter, 2 pizzas, 1 bottle of wine, water, 1 tiramisù = £ 60Top tips: 1. If you come to this place and order pasta, you are a moron and should not post bad reviews2. Come with few friends and enjoy the pizza by the metro!3. If you speak Italian they are more friendly with you

Myself and 2 friends went to Made in Italy restaurant in James Street on 16th January. The atmosphere is nice, the staff friendly and service great. It's not so loud that you can't have a decent conversation, the starters were spectacular, and, as a vegetarian, I really appreciated a separate veggie selection. The pizzas were great, as was the house wine, the Limoncello dessert, beautiful. We had a lovely time, prices very reasonable, I would thoroughly recommend this restaurant.

There is a lot of food choice in James Street but we thought this one looked good from the outside. Whilst the food we had was not really too bad, it was just really really bland. Service was not too hot either - we were seated upstairs and gave up waiting for staff to show their face so went downstairs to settle the bill on the way out, leaving many people upstairs who seemed similarly frustrated at the slow service. The manager seemed genuinely surprised that we did not enjoy our meal so we may have just chosen badly - unfortunately we will not be giving them a second opportunity for them to prove this theory.

We went to Made in Italy Restaurant in James Street last Saturday evening, the 5th of January. The atmosphere was very nice and the staff very welcoming. Starters and the Pastas arrived on time, and were very tasty and delicious.Unfortunately, we were too full to order a dessert, but the Tiramisu at the next table looked amazing. We highly recommend this place for dinner and we will definitely come back soon.

I don't usually write reviews but this time I think I should. Went to Made in Italy ( 50 James Street) earlier this evening and must say THE WORST ITALIAN FOOD I have ever eaten in London. When we came in ( group of 4) were told that there are no pizzas for at least another half an hour as their oven was not ready. We were starving so had no problem ordering something else. We ordered 1 starter and 4 pastas ( usually Italian portions are quite generous and are more than enough to fill us up). It took 45 min for the starter to arrive looking very presentable and it was very nice. A few minutes later we asked waitress how long it would take for food to arrive and were told not more than 5 min. 15 min later and we are still at the table with no food ( that's over an hour since we were seated) and an empty restaurant. After asking for a second time when are we going to eat the food arrived... i wish it didn't. We ordered Spaghetti alla Carbonara and 3 of Paccheri a Core e Mamma. Spaghetti hardly had any meat in it or anything really apart from spaghetti. 3 of the other dishes couldn't look more different from each other (even though they were the same!!!) the only thing they had in common was being smudged all over plates. My pasta had two thin slices of mushrooms a bit of meat and some pasta, my friend's dish had few pieces of meat but lots of mushrooms. And it's not just the presentation it DID NOT TASTE GOOD the portions were quite small!!! If it wasn't for a fact that we were starving + waiting for well over an hour + raining outside WE WOULD RETURN FOOD AND LEAVE. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME AND MONEY!!!! Would NOT recommend!!!

Invece no. Pizza al metro e in quantità ridicole (4 tranci a testa). No grazie!

Absolutely disgraceful, 4 hot chocolates were 68 pound!!! The hot chocolate was cold and was dripping down the cup. Way too expensive, service was so mean shouting at us saying if we are not a client we can't use the toilets. So we sat down and then served us 4 cold chocolates and then left without saying anything!!! I wouldn't recommend this place I hope this place gets shut down.
