Jason and Shane are just wonderfully happy people . Tony is an absolute legend! Always is such a top chap. I was made to feel so welcome after my beak up from my previous marriage. They helped me with my financial difficulties and let me sofa surf while I got myself on my feet. I must say that £4.95 is a bloody virtual price for a plate of chips. But all round, fantastic place for a pizza and a good laugh.

Best place to have a drink in Watford. Selection and quality of beers is outstanding. Great decor and styling. Very knowledgeable and friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Stopped by for a cocktail. Waited 20 minutes for them to figure out how to make it. They then brought over the wrong ones.

Popped in here for a drink and light lunch and the food was fantastic and service from the staff was 10/10 I had the smash burger with fries and my partner chicken ceaser salad which was delicious, will be coming here again without doubt

Popped in this morning to grab myself a quick can, was sold this Simple can. The thing went out of date in September and was still on the shelves, the place hasn't even been open that long so how it ended up on the shelf I have no clue. Genuinely dreadful, over fermented itself in the can and you could taste the pure alcohol in the drink. Making this accident is so easily avoided, just requires some care into the stock...

Popped in for some dinner and they had a great band playing on a Saturday afternoon. Had some fab food, with good vegan options for those in the group with that requirement. Vegan cheese pizza and the vegan Cauli wings where lovely. Great beer too.

Such a nice place to drink. Plenty of seats inside and outside but I visit it at the time when there was a match in Watford and it was full packed. Drinks are not bad. Mad Squirrel is brewing not bad variety. Been there for a drink and ending up with 4. One thing didn’t like is just 2 people serving behind the bar when there was a long queues. Situated in high street is not bad.

Just love the Mad Squirrel on match days, happy to serve both home and away fans who mix very sociabaly. Pizzas are excellent and can always get a pint of bitter - with lots of craft beers available too. Staff work very hard on match days, they really earn their wages!

Lovely place to have a drink. It's not much of a food place in my opinion. It's more of a bar. However you do get a few dishes and some pizza and they are quite good. Beer is great which is the reason we go there. Staff is very friendly Would recommend to all!!

Great beer , great choice of styles as well. Food was ok, I had the chicken wings which were just ok. My friends pizza looked great though.

Definitely a place for trendy people who like craft beer and different cask ale. There are wines, cans of drinks and a menu which includes pizzas to mop up your drink 🍻

Cracking selection of beautiful beers. Lad behind the bar had great chat and was very polite. The place was a wee bit quiet but this was a Wednesday evening so completely forgiven.

Disappointing to be served a duff pint of Mr Squirrel. Shame someone else got served a duff pint. Disappointing that I pointed it out as soon as it was pulled, but told it would settle. Disappointing that a bar that is all about beer did this.

A great place to sample some craft beers. Staff are friendly and can discuss the beer, I loved the double truffle but it will most likely be discontinued due to the rise in uk taxes on beer 😕

Best bar in Watford and my favourite of the Squirrel bar. Huge range of beers on tap and delicious pizza’s and loaded fries. Thursday quiz is always a good entertaining evening to go too. Awesome staff and the Manager Tom is a great guy and quiz master.

I mean...it just does smell slightly of wee, which is a real shame as the staff were lovely. But the wee is unmistakeable

I have supported mad squirrel for years and on my latest visit was told only card no more cash. On questioning the bar staff they were very offish with me. Cash is legal tender, come on mad squirrel your a pub act like one.

Watford's best beer bar. With many Mad Squirrel and guest beers on tap you can easily find your new favourite brew here. Seems quite lively Friday/Saturdays. Might be worth checking their listings however as one week it was a live band and very busy and another it was a bingo/Karaoke Drag night. The latter which despite only having the interest of about 20 people essentially took over the whole place with the noise. Not for me that one. That being said, each to their own and all that.

Pub quiz was great fun with something for everyone. Great beer selection and friendly staff. Enjoyed a vegan pizza with chips.

Met a long lost pal there before football. Very busy but efficient. Enjoyed the beer and the atmosphere. Didn't eat.

Visited twice and each time, they've had some entertainment on (live music or TV event) which is good. Spacious bar too. There is a wide variety of beers available but be warned: they're not all delicious! Even those with broad palates will struggle. Have not tried the food.

Huge selection of beers on tap, the manager is really friendly. As I haven’t got a clue about beer or what I wanted to choose he gives you a small taster before you buy it which helps. Pizzas are great. Meat Feast at £15 Nachos were about £9 Offered great service to someone in our group who requested gluten free pizza due to being coeliac. Putting the person at ease! Perfect service.

Such a nice new place which was sorely needed in Watford. They have a really nice beer selection and some good looking food. The staff were so friendly and chatty and the vibe was excellent, even though we arrived early evening on a very quiet Thursday. Will definitely be back!

Am sorry I have not visited earlier. A good range of interesting beers to suit any taste. I came in for 1 drink but stayed for 3. Very friendly staff and will certainly make it a venue In watford in the future. I had walked past in the past and walked past for a very obvious reason and why I have not scored it as a 5. I rarely go into an establishment that discourages someone my ancient age by having very high stools and high tables. I know my wife would refuse to come in with me as no way could she sit comfortably. So it will be ony own to sample their brews- but standing up!!!

I was so excited to try this place. Started off lovely. Bartender was great and had good beer recommendations. We also ordered a pizza. 30 mins later, he came and told us the pizza dough was rubbish and he would need to make more dough. No problem…we will have more drinks. 30 more mins pass and he came back and told us it was taking a long time and did we want some wings or fries basket. I said no need bc we wanted the pizza and I wasn’t that hungry for both. 15-30 mins later he came back and said are you sure I can’t get you something while you wait like the fries basket and we said fine. 45 min-Hour later I go to the bar to get another drink and ask about the pizza and he tells me they don’t have flour so there can be no pizza. He said half off anything else tho. We order a hot dog. Hot dog £3(£6 half off). When asked about the £13 we paid for the pizza, we were told that we had the other fried stuff so no refund on the pizza. Paid for the hot dog. We had several half pints and paid each time full price. Didn’t want the fried stuff but thought he was offering a snack while we waited forever for our pizza so agreed. We were there for 3 hours and I’m sad we had to leave with such a bad feeling. I even tipped the bartenders(who were apparently also the cooks) £6.50 before this all went down. I feel cheated. Be sure not to accept anything even if you think it’s a courtesy bc they are at fault for delay/not having what you ordered

Very good and "interesting" beers. You can order 1/3 of the pint, so you can try several, from a wide variety of beers. Average pizza, friendly staff. The place is a bit impersonal.

This is a very nice venue, we visited on a Tuesday night the week before Christmas, it wasn't very busy but that didn't detract from the experience. They have a wide selection on tap to choose from that covers most pallets and prices and the bar staff are all very pleasant and helpful. They also do rather excellent pizzas that are super thin and crispy, highly recommended....

A fairly new addition to the bar scene in Watford run by the Mad Squirrel brewery. They have a comprehensive selection of all their ales and beers plus they have other drinks too. They also have a food offering with a large pizza oven but I have not tried anything so really cannot comment on the quality. There is seating outside at the front for those who smoke. Loos are upstairs and very clean.

No idiots in the pub, win-win, a place for adults who have a few quid to spend... No kids, and by that I mean over 30's predominantly.

Good selection of beer, great place to come if you are into craft. Good atmosphere, well designed pub and warm on a cold day. Takeaway beer from the fridge is also a good touch. Will be going again.

This great micro pub had 3 mad squirrel Hand pumped ales on when I visited here on Friday 2nd December 2022 This friendly bohemian bar is a must to visit to my mind for interesting real ale when in Watford

Great choice of beer - mostly Mad Squirrel but some guest beers too, with a wide range of styles (lagers, pales, bitters, IPAs, stouts etc). 3 cask beers and 20 or so kegs. There are plenty of non-beer options, too. The bar itself is bright and modern. Friendly staff. The food is also pretty good.

Great tap room. Good bar food snackey and pickey type. pizza oven on site. Great selection of beer and wine. Chicken wings are a good size and plenty of flavour

Great atmosphere, great beer, sadly pizzas were rubbish. Meat feast with undectable meat. Octoberfest pizza with unknown toppings and some funny squirty stuff on top. A real let down.
