Cant even cook a battered sausage - but they do charge £4 each! Absolutely dreadful place. I cannot believe some of the comments which they advertise on their stand - allegedly they are in the top 5 fish and chip shops as voted for by Sun readers in 2023, all I can say is - I have no idea how they won this "accolade". We were charged £7.80 for 2 battered sausages - which were cooked "fresh" They took ages to come and I should have been worried - they were basically burnt inside and outside the batter - my local chippy - shout outs to Walmley chippy - is in a different league. Its the double whammy here - crazy high prices - absolute rip off, and they cant even cook the most simple of things correctly! My daughter even threw her sausage in the bin after one bite! Should have taken it back for a refund but I doubt they would have obliged.

£18 for 2 portions of kids sausage and chips. Then a free drink that we didn’t want. Bizarre- why not just charge less and cut the gimmicks.

Terrible place. No loyalty to customers. Rude and slow with poor tasting food. Be prepared to wait at least 30 mins for chips (regardless of whether it's busy or empty) Food tastes of old oil Rubbery sausages and very poor quality Packaging awful, almost chucked at you for the seagulls to grab. Boxes don't close properly and if they do, staff don't bother to try. A real lack of customer care, pure monopoly and cash thirst. Shame.

We used the outlet by the beach near the Cobb. Five fish and chips was the thick end of £60. I suppose the location next to the beach allows them to attain these prices. I wouldn't mind if the quality was good, but it wasn't. Hard batter and dry chips that weren't really up to standard. There again they will continue to do well because of their location. Absolute rip-off! Charge a fortune for very little indeed. Badly run with the most bizzare ordering system, that keeps you waiting forever.

Instant piping hot fresh chips sausage and cod. Not greasy, chips to die for, light crispy batter that melts in your mouth. Literally the best fish n chips I’ve had and I’ve lived around English beaches all my life

The best chips we’ve had for years! Glorious golden colour and wonderfully crispy. Perfect amount of salt added, that went right to the bottom. We will definitely be back!

Went for a vegetarian chip meal, no pea fritters and no vegan pies. “Run out” - not really acceptable for 6.30 pm. Other choice was pressed vegetable cakes! Yuk. Need to try harder. You wouldn’t run out of cod or chicken so why run out of pea fritters. Poor. Lost out on 5 meals.

I can only agree with the last review. Really poor. We both had cod and chips. Cooked in oil that needed changing weeks ago resulted in greasy over cooked chips. Cod was small with poor batter again because of the oil. This place needs to up its game considerably. If you haven’t guessed…..not recommended.

Tasteless fish, small portions (half a cod fillet), which considering the poor quality was actually a blessing in disguise, heavily overdone batter and chips, extortionate prices for the lowest of the low. No redeeming features. Avoid at all costs.

This fish and chip that does nothing to celebrate its seaside location. or possible source of locally caught fish. My chips were a mixture of very well cooked and just cooked, so I suspect two batches were mixed. And if you fry very small pieces of potato along with normal sized chips, they will come out really hard - as mine did. No obvious sachets of mayo or sauce on display. Mean on the salt and vinegar. And did I really need a posh paper carrier bag to carry one portion of fish and chips 3 minutes up the road. Not for me.

We went here for takeout on a recent stay in Lyme Regis. Fish (haddock) was freshly cooked for us as were the chips. Perfectly cooked and not too greasy. Quite simply one of the best fish and chip shops I have been to outside Scotland.

We were here on a busy Friday evening in September. Orders taken, then we waited in the street, all good. Good sized portions, loads of chips - we should have just ordered one portion between us . We had a cod and a plaice, batter a bit too hard for me, the fish within was ok . All in all, decent, but I suspect that there are better fish & chip shops in Lyme .

Prompt service after making a large order in advance. I had the Haddock and chips and was very disappointed with the fish. £12 for a stale and tough piece of fish - also quite a small portion. I know that the cause is probably brexit, but there you are.

Smallest portion of chips ever. It was like one standard portion of chips had been divided to make two portions, which of course we were charged for. We live locally and tonight you have lost our business. Charging for two portions of chips when you have clearly split a standard portion in half is unacceptable. Both my husband and I feel cheated.

While I understand the costs of running a chippy have increased, I'm happy to pay more if I were to receive the same quality and portions as previous visits. This was not the case, I paid a small fortune for what has to be the smallest portion of chips I have ever been served. The cod was well below expectations too, very small, very greasy and not enjoyable at all. I have visited here many times over the last 10 years and the standard has gradually been getting lower, I'm sad to say today's visit was a new low and I'll be eating elsewhere next time I'm in Lyme. ☹️

We had a takeaway from Lyme’s Fish Bar when we stayed in Lyme Regis in May as it was just around the corner from our accommodation. The food was cooked to order and very nice, although the portion size was a little small for the price. We’d happily eat here again though.

But we promised ourselves chips at the seaside so anyway.. surly service, charged us for 4 x pickles and only served one. A good take-away fish and chip shop, very friendly staff and very well priced items. The only thing I would say is that the batter used was difference to the batter I've had in other Fish & Chip shops.

Please do not waste your money this was awful my fish was burnt on both ends and dry. The other parts of our meal were overcooked we had to wait about 20 minutes which i do not mind for quality.... it had obviously been cooked and left or maybe they just do not know how to cook. When I took the fish out of the bag it was so thin and crisp. Such a shame used to be good.

Made a special journey to get takeaway from here and really wish I hadn't. It didn't seem that there was a grown adult to supervise unfortunately, maybe it would have been different. The portion size, even for a junior/small, was totally unacceptable and at a cost of £16 for 2 people. The fish was in greasy batter, I may have had a total of 15 chips. I was very disappointed. It seems its forgotten that people pay with their hard earned cash to pay for a takeaway. I won't be returning and will also advise people don't waste their time and money.
