Great quality Chinese food, really tasty and great quality ingredients. Never fails to deliver. Best Chinese around.

Love eating out at Lychee, it's a proper treat! The staff are always friendly and attentive and the food is extremely high quality, delicious and not greasy at all like a lot of Chinese restaurants/takeaways. We go for a set menu every time and the portions are huge!! If there is a group of 4 of us we get the menu for 3 people and just add on another starter, as this is plenty. Our favourites are the incredible mixed starter (all so yum, even down to the pickled radish), sweet and sour chicken and prawn with cashew nuts. Although the prices are slightly higher, they really do reflect the quality of the dishes, and you can easily dine with a drink and be very full for £20 - £30. I went for my birthday recently and because the staff overheard me say "late to my own birthday!", I was surprised with a sparkler in some ice cream and happy birthday song, a real lovely touch! I'm sadly moving from my house a 5 minute walk away but will still definitely be back in the future!

Probably one of the best chinese meals we have ever had, we are in our sixties so we have had some over the years, food top quality, really nice staff, cannot recommend enough, we will definitely be coming back and we live in Wakefield 40 miles away.

Looking over the canal, this is a fantastic Chinese restaurant on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. Well Priced and great portions with specials. Would happily go back when in the area.

Our first visit. We were very impressed with the quality of the food and the excellent service from the friendly and efficient staff. Having visited many chinese restaurants I would rate this very highly. There is an extensive menu and the dishes we had were all superbly presented and the quality of the ingredients was outstanding. My Husband left his phone and glasses and the owner was even kind enough to call and let me know. All in all a very enjoyable evening and we are looking forward to another visit soon.

06/07/22 ordered crispy beef with sweet chilli and Cantonese chicken curry. The rice that came with it was just a solid lump that you could not separate, the crispy beef was soggy beef and the Cantonese chicken curry was just a basic chip shop curry! Very poor quality and expensive!

We were greeted at the door with a warm welcome and friendly faces. Despite having no reservation (and coming at a busy hour) we were quickly seated next to a beautiful picture of a city skyline and overlooking the Skipton canal. After drinks were served a sexy, muscular and quite frankly a hunk of a man took our order, with the suave and expertise I’ve never seen on a man so young and handsome we eagerly took his recommendation for the chicken and sweetcorn soup, it was to die for! Overflowing with succulent strips of chicken and the freshest sweetcorn to ever graze my tastebuds. ‘‘Twas the best Chinese, nor meal I have ever eaten in my life. The combination of delightful staff and stupendous food I will definitely be dining here again

Went here for a meal whilst visiting Skipton on holiday. The serving staff were very pleasant and attentive, quickly took drinks order and left us to peruse the menu, which is extensive. I plumped for the crispy wun tuns, chicken with green peppers in black bean sauce and noodles. I have never had wun tuns like these before, instead of the small crispy wrappers with a pin prick of prawn in the middle, I got three huge wun tuns which were crammed full of minced prawn and wrapped in a pancake skin, tied in a bow and deep fried to a superb crisp...yum. The main course was one of the best black bean dishes I have had, although I could have maybe done with a tad more chilli. My Wife was equally delighted with her duck spring roll starter and her chicken with cashew nuts main course, she fancied lychee for her sweet but they were not on the menu, she asked the waitress if they had and low and behold they were duly delivered, happy days. I have to say we both thought that it was one of the best Chinese meals we have had. Thanks to all at the Lychee.

We went for the first time last night and had the set banquet meal with the duck option. Delicious food courses spaced apart perfectly. The chicken in black bean was the best I’ve ever had, not the usual boiled chicken pieces you get at other places. Duck course was delicious and the whole meal with drinks was less than £60 which I thought was really reasonable! Really good service too from the waiters/waitresses. Would definitely recommend to book like we did because all of the tables were reserved when we got there.

Went for our annual Christmas Eve meal out, without member who works here!! Food was top notch. No complaints at all. Good sized portions. Reasonably priced. Waiting staff were attentive and friendly which is what you would expect. Will definitely go again. Enjoyed by all!

We have just been for a Celebratory meal at this friendly restaurant. There were 9 of us in total and we all said how delicious and authentic the food was. The friendly knowledgeable staff complemented our experience. Highly recommended

A week away in a holiday let and we found ourselves a walk away from the Lychee restaurant! Having spent 10 years living in Hong Kong when I was younger, it was a lovely surprise to find freshly cooked Cantonese food using fresh quality ingredients and without the abundance of MSG that one sometimes gets from others ….. forget any reviews that talk about frozen foods We ordered a Take-Away of Special Egg fried rice, steamed rice, Sweet and Sour Chicken and Chicken with Green Peppers and Black Bean Sauce …. certainly more than enough for two persons and actually enough for three! The sweet and sour had an added surprise of Lychees …. one of my favourite fruits ….. the black bean sauce was delicious and light We will certainly order again this week

I have just read a review of this restaurant giving very low ratings and describing management as "unfriendly". I don't believe it! We have eaten at Lychee tonight, absolutely excellent food, exemplary service, reasonable price, helpful and friendly staff, ice cold great draft lager (Madrid). Very good price for reasonable bottle of shiraz. Nothing not to like, can't wait to return, thanks to whole team for food and service.

The food was really excellent. We went for the early birds menu, it was such good value. The Bao buns with pulled pork was super. As was the prawns with mushrooms in garlic sauce. The Cantonese spring rolls were amazing and clearly freshly prepared 🤤😋 The service was very good, the 3 different staff that served/interacted with us were all attentive, helpful and polite. Thank you. This was our first visit. We would definitely recommend and hope to visit again.

Visited the Lychee whilst using Skipton as a base for a walking week in The Dales. Not sure that this is genuine Cantonese, but the food is very good, very good portions, and served by very pleasant, attentive staff. The kitchen close at 9 p.m....

We enjoyed a delivery of their squid, Hong Kong style sweet and sour pork, fried rice, a different and interesting version of crispy shredded beef and a chicken satay stir fry. All very nice and big portions. Good value and service.

I have just read a couple of poor reviews on Lychees food. I know everywhere has an off day and you can't please everyone. What I can say however is that we have been going to Lychee regularly for a few years and have never had a meal that was anything other than excellent.The service is good and friendly and I am sure that if you had any complaint about food it would be satisfactorily addressed on the spot if you made it known.Prices aren't the very cheapest but are extremely reasonable given the standard of the food, the pleasant surroundings and lovely staff.You may realise we are fans and think Lychee is excellent all round. Only problem sometimes difficult to get in, especially now with less tables for distancing purposes we advise advance booking.Well done to May and her team.Julian & Julie

We decided to order a takeaway from Lychee after having eaten in the restaurant a couple of times and finding the food enjoyable (if not outstanding). We were hoping for a passable Chinese to help celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. (Covid had scuppered our original plans so we were making the most of celebrating at home).We ended up wishing we'd chosen one of our usual (and cheaper) takeaways, as the experience was a real disappointment. We ordered one of the banquets and, whilst the starters were generous and the ribs tasty, the duck with pancakes was very dry and the mains (especially the prawns with cashew) were tasteless and badly seasoned and the salt and pepper chicken literally inedible due to being rock hard. The noodles were passable and the beef (for which we paid a supplement) just about "OK". All in all the meal wasn't worth half the price we paid for it. We definitely won't be repeating the experience for our 41st anniversary (nor any time in between).

We had high hopes for the Lychee, given the reviews, but our banquet for two was a real disappointment, with one dish being inedible (though my Mum was too polite to say so). The mixed starter was ok and a generous serving, but our main dishes were poor. The fried rice tasted of over-used cooking oil (and was dark brown) and my Mum's duck with plum sauce was so sweet it could have easily been a dessert. What a shame - the serving staff were lovely and welcoming but I can't find much else positive to say sadly.

Decided to eat at this restaurant whilst staying in Skipton for a weekend away. We were greeted very warmly by the owner and her staff. Service throughout was superb. We ordered the set menu for 2, which included a mixed starter, crispy duck, and a main course with special fried rice. The food was absolutely amazing.....piping hot, fresh and top quality ingredients. It was probably one of the most enjoyable Chinese meals we have had for a long time. The food tasted so fresh , and the presentation of the dishes were all visually appealing....they say you eat with your eyes! I’m so pleased we found this restaurant, and if we lived locally, we would be returning very soon.

We went on Sunday and found the food very tasty with generous portions. The surroundings are nice very clean and with views over the canal. The service was first rate very friendly and efficient. It was our first visit but it certainly won’t be our last

Dined here with my friend on a Tuesday evening. A lovely restaurant with very professional, friendly and welcoming staff. We had a table overlooking the canal which was really lovely despite the rainy weather. The meal was fantastic and tasted really fresh! I would recommend the deep fried aubergine, chicken satay and chicken in black bean sauce. Definitely visit if you are in the area!!

We popped in for a treat and were not disappointed. Good, friendly service and a nice range of dishes on offer. I like steamed dumplings and more interesting started and they were very good. Excellent noodles

Had a fantastic meal on a Friday night. The menu included all the usual choices plus a bunch of specialities; I especially liked that there was a whole page of vegetarian and vegan options.Service could not be faulted: attentive, helpful and friendly.And the food was perfect: obviously good quality ingredients made into a most enjoyable meal. Way better than might be expected of a combined restaurant and take-away.We will most definitely return!

Last evening, based on a last minute change of plan, we went to the Lychee for the first time. We were shown to a table, given menus straight away and minutes later our drinks orders were taken and delivered. We ordered 3 mains with rice, noodles and chips as sides so we could all dip in and share.Shortly the hot plates were presented followed by all the food. After filling our plates and having a few mouthfulls, we all agreed the quality was excellent. Twice staff members came to ask if everything was ok with our meals. Despite being more than full, two of us had cold desserts and these came on freezer cold plates which obviously helped keep the ice cream and other relevant items cold for much longer; a simple idea other restaurants should follow. It wasn't cheap but at £55 for 3 mains, 3 sides, 2 desserts and 3 soft drinks, we felt it was well worth it and will definitely be back.Highly recommended.

Although we have passed the restaurant on numerous times we had never tried it, so decided to give it a go, and were so happy that we did. The staff were very friendly and helpful. The surroundings are nice and relaxing and the food was amazing. It did take a while to arrive, but you could tell it had all been freshly prepared, so was worth the wait. Well worth a visit.

We had great fun here as a family. Good atmosphere. Two choices of table. One smaller by the canal a second larger size solid stone table without the view but great for piling high with food and sharing! I did not particularly like the draft beer so stuck with tsingtau. Glass of red in a mini airplane bottle was unusual but ok. The salt and pepper dishes were excellent as too the sizzling dishes and our crispy noodle fans were sated too! Their idea of two chilli dishes was very mild by comparison to our local.

We love a Chinese and What a lovely welcome by a lady - canal view - so clean - and all cutlery including chop sticks and serviettes. Also plates came hot to keep meal hot. Well impressed-staff fab. 1st time visit - but def not the last Jayne Billy Giggleswick

We visited Lychee for our evening meal last Saturday. We received a very warm welcome and the excellent service continued to the end of our stay. The food was delicious, each of the dishes we had were so tasty and presented so nicely. We will certainly be visiting again soon.

Had a takeaway tonight and my wife and I really enjoyed it. We've dined in the restaurant in the past and always been very pleased. Not your usual Chinese food but higher quality with good ingredients. Highly recommended.

We came here rather late one evening, about 20 minutes before the kitchen closed. The service, once they agreed to still serve us, was very friendly. The food was rather tasteless, and I certainly have had better Chinese food. However, the prices were also very reasonable.

We are on Holiday staying in a country retreat at Broughton Hall estate, we ordered a Chinese takeaway for 4 tonight from your restaurant and it was by far the BEST food we have had, just to say that the barbecued ribs are to die for, highly highly recommended 15 out of 10, thankyou and very friendly staff too.

Came here on a friday night with my husband , we ordered a set menu the starter arrived it was a large mixed starter very good and tasty , the duck arrived there didn't seem to be enough pancakes to go with it , then the main course arrived and it seemed lacking in flavour couldn't put my finger on it but was missing something , there was plenty of it but it wasn't the best

So me and my partner visited whilst visiting the rendevous hotel and its got to be said its the best "chinese" ive ever had. The atmosphere is perfect service is second to none and the food even better. You'll be missing out if you dont visit!!!

After hearing good reviews we decided to try dinner here on New Years Eve, 2 adults & 1 child. We ordered the set meal for 2 of us (son shared as he isn’t a big eater). Starter looked promising and was quite good, with a few iffy pieces. Crispy Duck Pancakes as expected. We asked for extra pancakes as they never seem to give you enough! The main course is where it went downhill. We ordered sizzling beef but it was so tough some of it was inedible. Portion sizes were fairly small with just enough and no more. Wasn’t keen on the sweet corn & peas in the fried rice. Sweet & sour chicken was good but very small portion. No coffee included we paid for this separate. At over £70 for basically set meal for two was expensive for what we got, we only ordered 1 drink each, beef, wine & juice. And extra chicken & sweet corn soup for my son. We queried an extra £3 to which we were told it was extra due to the sizzling beef dish!! No mention of this when we ordered & didn’t see it on the menu. There’s much better Cantonese Restaurants out there for less £££.

Nice friendly restaurant. Lots of choose for everyone. I am veggie and lots of choice and for vegans too . Good resonable price especially early bird . Like the wine in individual small bottles .

Really enjoyed our takeaway of hot sour soup lemon chicken and sweet and sour chicken. The owners of this Restaurant used to own the Takeaway in our village and are sadly missed. Even though it is now a 20 minute journey for us and there are 2 Chinese Takeaways in the village neither of them compare with the Lychee.

Having read previous reviews I have to say I was really disappointed - my expectations were reasonably high, good menu, and served swiftly. The food was just not very tasty, the beef dish quite chewy and everything a little bland to be honest . We were visiting skipton so maybe we are used to our own local Chinese - Lychee is also not on the cheaper side so I again I thought the food would be good quality - Maybe it was a one off poor experience........

It was my husbands birthday so as we hadn't been to the Lychee before we decided to go. I must say that from the outside it looks quite posh. The interior is quite different almost like a cafe. I ordered the prawn starter and my husband the hot and sour soup both of which were delicious. The Main Courses we chose were also very good. We found the prices value for money and will definately call agaim

Beautifully presented food in a little restaurant on the bridge overlooking the canal. Very tasty food and a good choice of special banquets and an early bird menu. A little pricey but top quality ingredients. Duck starter was exceptionally good with a large portion, plenty for 2 people.

Went in for the first time the other week. Great atmosphere and decor, warm friendly staff. Lovely view of the canal. We had crispy duck with pancakes, chicken soya stir fry, king prawn in spring onion and fresh ginger, all of which were of a very high quality. The standout though was the salt and pepper chicken. I could have eaten it by the bucketload. I even commended the chef, which is rare for me. Will have to come again soon and try more of the menu. I'm salivating as I type.

We just had a banquet for 4 enough for 8 but top quality. The service was really good and I would love to come here more often but I live 250 miles away

We have frequently visited this restaurant over the past three years and never had a bad meal here. Food is beautiful, and full of flavour. Service is fantastic and the waitresses can’t do enough for you.

Passing through Skipton, popped in at 5pm, we were the only customers in the rather quirkily decorated restaurant. Nice location, right next to the canal but was expecting the meal to be pretty average.

We have eaten at this restaurant about 4 times now and have never been disappointed. The food is always delicately and beautifully cooked. The king prawns with spring onion and ginger is highly recommended - the prawns are never overcooked and the sauce has a delicate flavour. The pork used in the sweet and sour pork is of good quality and the batter is excellent. As a starter the Peking duck (1/4) is really good. Well worth a visit. The staff are usually young women and whilst possibly not have all the experience necessary to deal with questions on wine are nevertheless very pleasant and efficient

Had a lovely meal on 21/07/18, lovely food and great staff. Everything piping hot and freshly cooked, generous portions. And doggy bags if you can’t finish your meal. We did! So tasty.

We come to the Lychee quite regularly. Very friendly staff and always good service. Good choice of 'regular' Chinese dishes and lots of chef's own recipes. My favourite starter is the salt n pepper squid rings. Pakfar duck main always goes down well. They have tables outside for snacks and drinks if you're not too hungry. Never managed to see a desert list as we're always stuffed.

We came to Skipton and try to find a place for dinner, the restaurant is good but the Chinese food is one of the worst I’ve ever had in UK and expensive of course, I won’t call it a good experience.

My mum loves this restaurant it was her birthday and came with my dad (it was my husbands and childrens firrst time and mine) amazing and attentive service from the start (was a shame real ale off the drinks menue but we recoverd lol) but they ordered the prawn toast as a starter wow!! (the very best ever and do share that!!) childrens meal was amazing too and really good value and price and tasted amazing, they must have heard it was her birthday too, as my mum got an ice cream which was a lovely touch, i cannot wait try to something different there so will be back Look forward trying to more, can't wait x

I rang and ordered take out, phone person was very pleasant and all ok, I thought the food was good, maybe not the cheapest around but we really enjoyed it. The only issue I had (and why it didn’t score 5) apart from parking to collect, was I had to go into the restaurant to collect the order, this was very small and nowhere really to wait, which made me feel like I was invading peoples space who were eating, otherwise good food which is the main thing you need to know for a take out.

Food was okay but expensive. Restaurant was hot and uncomfortable following a warm day and whilst it appeared they had air con, it wasn't turned on. I have had cheaper and better Cantonese food. Would I go again to Lychee? possibly but not in a hurry

Have visited this restaurant quite a few times with friends and family and can honestly say I have never had better Chinese food anywhere in the country. The food is beautifully presented and all tastes to be home made from scratch rather than bought in bulk so this food is much more substantial and better quality than is usual for Chinese restaurants. Portions are generous and the service is excellent and has been every time we have visited. The atmosphere is lovely with nice lighting and soft music, I would highly recommend a visit, you won't be disappointed.

The further you travel from Asia the moor the local restaurants change the taste to suit the locals. Thankfully the food keeps to the authentic better than most. the service was excellent with the wait staff happy to help. We ordered each course, one at a time. That way it didn't all arrive at once and when it did it was piping hot. they were happy to cook with "No Onions" so all and all a good night out at a reasonable cost

I visited this restaurant on the 10th January 2018 with a friend as I had heard so many lovely things about this restaurant I thought to myself why not. When we walked into the restaurant and asked for a table we were shown quickly to a table with no hesitation. The service throughout the whole visit was just a pure disappointment and I will definitely not be returning to this restaurant. My friend and I had lovely main courses but waited over an hour to see if the staff would be offering any desserts but this wasn't the case and I felt like the staff cared more about those who had booked a table. For the duration of the hour that we had waited we saw one staff member with blonde hair stood to one side leaning on the window. I myself work in a hotel and this doesn't look very professional when you have customers sat in the restaurant eating meals. The other staff member with brown hair and glasses seemed to have no idea what she was doing as she was looking into space with no idea that we wanting to have desserts. On the way out we had complained to the girl with blonde hair and explained the situation and she came across quite disinterested and didn't care we had a bad experience.

As a family of six it is sometimes hard to find a restaurant that will please all, however we thought that we would give Lychee a go. As well as the waitresses being friendly, the food came quickly so the children weren’t complaining. If you are used to the typical Yorkshire fish and chips on a weekend and fancy a change this is the place to go. From everything from the lemon hand wipes to the delicious desserts we would highly recommend to all. Great choice of food.

Booked a table at short notice and glad we did. The mixed starter for two was beautifully presented and tasted better than it looked. Then we had the 1/4 aromatic duck which again was excellent. But the show stopper was the king prawns in s birds nest. The katsu chicken curry was very tasty and had to bring the remainder home as the meal portions are generous and good value. We will be back soon.

We went on a quiet Sunday night during our stay in Skipton. Food was really delicious, well presented and also in large portions. Service was good.

Recommended by our Grandchildren, our first visit (with them of course...) was excellent.

Nice setting, over-looking the canal. Nice friendly welcome & service. Good food from their early evening menu. A dessert which was absolutely superb!:-)

Truly lovely food in pleasant surroundings. We went with the early diner menu and were impressed with the quality and portion size (if anything the portions were a little large but being northern we took them home in doggy bags!)

Really good Chinese food and plenty of it best Chinese resteraunt. Nice staff too well worth a visit.

The range on the vegetarian menu is superb (although a bit odd that you have to ask for it separately and nothing vegetarian is listed on main menu) Salt and pepper tofu starter was the best. We’ll be back.

Visited mid-week while on holiday and had the early bird menu, which I thought was very good value.

Having walked by this restaurant a few times during our stay in Skipton we decided to try it on our last night. As we were in the restaurant just after 5 we had the option of the early bird menu which at £14.95 per person for a 3 course meal we were not disappointed. The food was lovely and fresh, service very polite and attentive. Very relaxing atmosphere which was added to my sitting at the window watching ducks swans and boats slot go by. If in Skipton I suggest you give this restaurant a try.
