Ist time here for a takeaway of scampi and chips absolutely delicious best chips I've had in a long time ,everything was cooked fresh to order I will deffinatly be back great fish and chip shop 😋

Absolutely great service with great prices and portions. Was around the area due to work and tried this out for £6 a small portion. Probably large portion from were i live in Yorkshire! Gravy was 10/10 and so was the food.

Popped in today to sit in for an impromptu seafood boil, added half a lobster and some snow crab claws and tiger prawns. Cooked to perfection and lovely to have this on the menu as they're not easy to find in the area. Also had the small fish and chips plus tempura prawns which were lovely, I asked to substitute the sauce on menu for their lemon mayo and staff were accommodating of request and very helpful/friendly. Nice background music and everywhere was spotlessly clean. Will definitely pop back

Very nice tasting chips and curry. Huge portion. Staff members nay have just been setting up as it was early lunchtime and were still putting out salad items etc. Worth the wait though

Called on way to QE Hospital, well worth the visit, friendly staff and excellent fish and chips, would definitely recommend and visit again if over that way!

I've been here many times, but not for a while. I got 2x large fish and chips, gravy and curry. The fish was fine but the chips were inedible, leaving a nasty aftertaste. My partner said the gravy was awful too. All in all very disappointed and will not be returning.

Hot, hot, hot! Excellent last time I was there. All take-away. Small fish and chips for £6 is a great size. Chips were separate, not in a big clump as is so often the case, and not greasy. Fish was tasty and batter was crisp and light, some of the best I've had anywhere. Not surprising that it's always busy.

Fish tasted fresh but chips were soft and anaemic looking.

Just had fish and chips Monday 4th March Fish was lovely but seriously need the chips with colour on first time I have had white chips although they were cooked by time you get home they are soggy

Really good until last 2 times I have been. Fish used to be really chunky but last 2 times it has been mostly batter with a very small VERY thin fish that was really tough. Hope it is just a blip as used to be great a couple of month ago.

Got in at 900pm..got a price of fish it was lush..

Food is always good and portions are a decent size, but the service can be very slow..only four people in front of me and it took 15 minutes to be served.

Great. We had a huge order (over 50 meals) and the staff did a fantastic job, everything arrived nice and hot and not one of our guests had a single complaint. Low Fell Fish Bar really came through for us. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend eating here.

Friendly staff, even though it was just a couple of mins before closing... Didn't give 5 stars because the card reader couldn't connect, just as well in this instance I had cash

Best kebab wrap I’ve had in a while! Chips could do with being cooked abit more there abit lightly done. Also wish they would let you pre order your order as I work nearby and don’t have the time to order and wait for it to be done. Think I would use more if I could. It’s always busy though which can only be a good sign!

Top chippy been using it since the hills took it over around 30 odd years ago...... Update ...4 years later portion sizes seem to vary heavily depending who servers you , today i got about 15 chips but n my fish and chips .... Sort ya stuff out please or il take my money elsewhere

It has been a couple of years since I visited Low Fell Fish Bar but I used to always enjoy fish and chips from here. However, after tonight's visit, I won't be back. They had to be amongst the worst fish and chips I've ever had. Pale, soggy chips and that was as good as it got. The fish was so bad, I had to throw it in the bin. The batter was flat and certainly not what you would call bubbly and the fish inside was mushy and covered in a thick layer of fat. Such a shame but that just wasn't acceptable.

Loses one star for the small amount of chicken bites, we thought it was the kids portion.

Always liked this place. Ideal for whale and chips. (Just fist but very big compared to other places) Great food, great and friendly staff. And due to that, it can get very busy. If you are passing and not been in yet, then you need to.

Top banana. We travelled from Hull for this. Irrespective of this we tried 4 other fish and chip shops, which were all closed, before coming here. It was a Sunday night. The lady fishwoman told my aunt, who is also my future girlfriend of her recent jaunt to Derbyshire. She had stayed in an old watermill. An old waterman entered her each evening, she told Marla and used her as a conduit through which she communicated with his former head teacher and beloved Reggy. Reggy Darake lived 3 miles away so the fishwoman got quite fit. As the fishwoman regaled this tale the spatter of the batter of our sausage meal (no 23) made her eyes water. Dewy eyed she, the fishwoman, and waterman ghost conduit continued. Each and every evening in Derbyshire the fishwoman would walk the 3 miles with the old waterman inside of her and him and Reggy would conduct their love affair. She told Marla that the experience made her feel like a gooseberry at times. That said she said the trip left her both satiated and refreshed and energised to continue with fresh gusto her chip dispesment for chip lovers of the North East. On the one day she wasn't too exhausted she loved the rolling hills of the landscape and the people. She vowed never to go abroad again.

I had a fish today and it was overcooked this fish and chip needs to buck there ideas up very quickly otherwise it will lose its customers. The chips are overcooked when i get them and i have not had them since.

I had chips from your fish and chip shop tonight the chips were horrible and hard and were tasteless. This fish and chip shop in Low fell used to be a good shop at one time but it has miserably gone down him in my opinion.

Queue was out the door would have been even without covid, and easy to see why. Very tasty chips pie was a little bit meh, but I often say that I'm spoiled by the butchers pies near my mams solid 4 stars and I'm hard to please with food.

Portion sizes are tiny, very disappointing. Child size portions. Pie bad quality, very dry. We go here quite often, and am v disappointed, won't return soon

This is one of my favourite chip shops, and has been for years! Always excellent quality, freshly cooked and generous portion sizes. Staff always have a smile on their faces too. Highly recommended!

Greasy, flavourless and generally uninspiring.

So the wait time was ridiculous for having 2 people serving and only 3 people infront of me. The kebab I got had loads of burnt ends in that were disgusting. And my tub of garlic sauce was only half full. Like come on it probably costs you a few pence and I'm paying for it...

Food always good. Definitely one of the best in the area. Queue is the worst part they should have more stuff ready especially the most common items, the staff do a lot of walking back and forth, there's got to be quicker way. Plus contactless cash payments are the future. Staff handling cash then food is old fashioned.

What take away has touch screen tils but doesn't accept card payments. No cash machine local so didn't get to try their food :-/
