This is a brilliant chippy. There is always a lengthy queue outside on match day but the staff are quick and efficient so it moves along pretty quickly. There are plenty of other takeaways in the row of shops but their lack of custom just shows how good Lou Macari's is. Excellent pre-match food and good value. Big bonus that it's owned by the ex-United legend who was part of the exciting United side that won the old 2nd Division and FA Cup. Lou Macari was a great player and later a manager and is a truly great person as well.

Great food, although overcharged on match days

Nice place. Staff were very kind and accommodating. Small venue, good for to go or even to sit but try to be mindful of others wanting to eat.

Great quick snack before the game at Old Trafford! This establishment is ready to serve the masses, so don't expect anything high end. Besides that, the experience was rather nice - potato wedges were kinda soaked in oil, but the fish was quite good.

Our pre match meal was OK and had always wanted to check this place out...only negative really was the chicken and mushroom pie didn't have much mushroom in it but the chips and curry sauce were pretty decent and a good portion. Struggled to find a spot to eat it but all part of the experience sitting alongside some stoners! Staff were nice and the prices again are average which is good.

This chippy is brilliant. This chip shop had the best drinks and chips I had had on a good little while. If you are a local or here to watch the best club in England I guarantee you will have the best food or drink you’ve had this year. Give this shop a reward. I traveled all the way from Scotland and it didn’t let me down.

Big portions of fish and chips! Very short walk from Old Trafford and perfect pre match.

Quite simply the best fish and chips ever, so fresh the fish crumbles in your mouth, and the mushy peas and gravy were perfection! The batter was golden and crispy, service very efficient and despite the queues, the queue moves quickly.

It's the best match day fish and chips you'll find. All the usual items on the menu, but for me it's fish, chips and mushy peas every time. It's a personal choice of course, some of my friends swear by the chips and gravy. Make your own mind up eh?

Average score,I purchased battered sausage and chips.The batter had an odd taste to it and most of it fell off before I could eat it(maybe overcooked).Also a bit overpriced in my opinion at £4.80.Staff very polite and efficient.

Fish and Chips with added extras, that's what I like to have as a quick and tastey meal. There is nothing like an old fansioned fish and chips meal, with salt and vinegar - well worth further visits to Lou Macari's Fish & Chips......lovely and vert tastey.

Macari’s is special as was Lou Macari . One always bought fish , chips and mooshy peas outside football stadiums. Sadly that’s not so easy to do any longer. I loved the fish and chips as they are freshly made in front of you and served in newspaper . Mooshy peas have never been to my liking but these are actually very tasty. Very busy on match days but that adds to the atmosphere.

Porsi Fish n Chip sendiri sangat luar biasa besar untuk ukuran orang Indonesia sehingga saya dan adik saya meminta sebagian untuk dibungkus. Pemilik kedai tentu saja sesama fans MU sehingga cukup menyenangkan untuk mengobrol tentang MU. Rasa fish and chipnya sendiri cukup enak dengan harga yang masih wajar dibandingkan harga makanan serupa di restoran.

I am united through and through. Born 68....in Manchester. Stretford ender from 76 onwards and Macari was and still is a god. The Docherty 70s United is my favourite team. Lou’s chippy is a bit of a legend. I think partially because a footballer bought a chippy years ago and has kept it going. Inside you have the odd Macari image on the walls to remind you. Its one of the closest chippies to OT. I used to go in regularly but it dawned on me this was because it had become a pre match tradition. It had little to do wth the food. One day my mate was attempting to eat his fish when he pointed out the batter was a sort of fluerescent yellow/green colour! The quality of the food is not that good. Ill leave it at that. Try the Beijing on the quadrant which is a proper chippy day in day out not just on match days and see what you think compared to Lou’s. For those diehards who will always treat it as a pre match ritual .....fairenough .....its ashame the quality of the food doesnt match the quality of the footballing owner

The fish and chips served here on matchdays are of very good quality and price. The fish is not greasy and the chips are fresh. It is worth waiting in the queue for and one of the best chippies on the road.

OK let's be clear this is not a great chippy in terms of food quality. You will get far better food elsewhere - just not anywhere near OT. Given the volume of food they churn out its very good. You should drop by when off to a game. It's all part of the day out. There are many options on match day but this is the best. Grab your food and stand outside to eat it soaking up the atmosphere and the banter. For any newbies try the steak and kidney pie with chips and mushy peas. The fish is also good. Enjoy.

Many chip shops to choose from along this stretch of road and around the corner as you approach Old Trafford. Observe people eating chips round and about and enquire where they bought them from. Consequently Lou Macari's... great chips proper fish shop chips not refried frozen or chiese chip shop.

A chippy should deliver great chips. Lou's has done that for decades. I take mates there and they can't believe the quality and value.
