Lovely hotel, helpful staff, and perfect location.

I stayed at Poets House as part of a family holiday. I was delighted with the room I was allocated which had everything I needed. The bathroom was extravagant with great amenities. Nothing was too much trouble, and the little touches made my stay even better. The hotel is close to town, well within walking distance to the cathedral and market square (worth a wander if you have the time). The car park is easily accessible - remember to drop off your luggage and check in first before heading over.

I recently had my wedding reception there and it was absolutely perfect. All the staff, from the events coordinator to the general manager to the waiting staff on the evening of the wedding were absolutely amazing from start to finish. The food was delicious not only at the evening reception but also the next morning at breakfast, and the room we stayed in was stunning. A massive thank you to Poets House for making the day and especially the evening so memorable.

Food lovely, staff excellent and very friendly & helpful. The only thing that let's it down is the parking.

Just back from a most delicious lunch ...it was a late anniversary meal and was well worth the wait. Staff were all very friendly, decor beautiful, lovely atmosphere. Thoroughly recommend.

What a lovely place, and the staff are wonderful, i haven't stayed in the hotel, I've only eaten in the restaurant in and the food is exceptional.

As a Transgender Woman wearing full make-up I was continuously referred to as a Male. The girl behind the Counter looked at me with a sneer and snatched my money from me! I couldn't get out of there fast enough!!! Except that I had to go back because I was given a dish with Mushrooms, even though I made a point in telling them that I have a potentially FATAL allergy to Mushrooms!!!

One of the nicest Chinese takeaways we have had in a very long time. It’s very hard to find a decent Chinese takeaway so I’m glad we have found New Dragon Inn. The food is fresh, beautifully seasoned and not at all greasy which is a real pleasure. Only niggle to make is it was a shame the duck came pre shredded, we would have preferred it on the bone.

Food under par and a young lady abandoned at front of house overwhelmed with the volume of walk in and phone orders. A kitchen unable to comprehend the volume of orders they had resulting in an unacceptable level of pressure on a young member of staff left at front of house. People waiting 60 minutes plus for orders and frustrations getting to the point that customers were arguing amongst themselves and with the father of the clearly upset staff member. My meal was handed to me by a child under the age of 12 left to deal with front of house. In 32 years of eating out I have never experienced anything like it.

Decent food and pretty good service. Bump up the kerb for your pick up - it’s not a big deal - not sure if other reviewers are expecting some kind of concierge service.... it’s a local Chinese for goodness sake! In my experience it’s the best Chinese restaurant option in Ely. Could be better, like most takeaways, but I wouldn’t choose anywhere else locally.

Spent 57 pounds and found multiple flies in our dishes. They then denied it and got aggressive when we asked for a refund. Awful service and awful food. Finally got a refund after telling them we were referring them to health officials.

I appreciate that this was available during the Coronavirus pandemic but it would have been better if it was closed! We ordered nearly £60 of food for our family of 7 and it wasn’t good at all, wont be visiting again.

It really comes to something when the only decent part of your takeaway is the prawn crackers. The tofu was overcooked and the chow mein was watery, sweet, and the beansprouts were soggy. The whole thing looked and tasted like it had been reheated in a microwave. Will have to look elsewhere for chinese food in Ely

great food, only downside is space, being a wheelchair user there is very little room and also a big lip at the threshold of the door. but great for able bodied.

As can be seen above there are double yellow lines outside so getting to it is a nightmare. It is not the swiftest I have found at delivering food to passing trade as I was but it was hot and it was tasty in line with others I have eaten.

Ordered a set meal for four at about 6.30pm and asked for it to be ready for pickup at 8pm. Arrived just after 8 and then sat around waiting for the food for another 45 minutes watching other people walk in, place their order and get their food before us. Won't be returning...

Trouble with this place is that it's good food. That may sound odd to call that a negative, but it is. Every time we order from here, there are long waits. I don't mean it takes time to get the food - but rather they tell you a time and always kiss it spectacularly. Tonight, we ordered a modest takeaway at 7pm, asked to collect at 8pm. We've learned to pad the time or you stand waiting fur ages. I double checked this would be OK and was assured it was. Arrived at 8.05pm and its now approaching 8.30pm and still no food. This is why the good food is a problem, its busy and the kitchen is overwhelmed. Rather than be honest with customers they keep them waiting. Unfortunately there are other good Chinese takeaways locally so this is my last time here. Such a shame. So. It gets a 2 rather than a 5.

Ordered a special chow mein extra hot. Got home and wasnt no spice or hotness to it at all and was too far to drive back. The chow mein was tasty enough but you should get what you pay for

Now that the China Inn has closed we needed to find another Chinese. We love our Chinese food and so ordered some favourites from the menu to try out. Although quite tasty it wasn't up to our normal standard and was very sweet. It was okay but there are so much better out there.

Always quick fantastic service !!...firm favourite ...We use this place all the time !! And always happy to tweak any dishes to your liking ie ...no onions/mushrooms etc for the kids...perfect !!

We have been using this take away for many years and we have never been disappointed. Its a pity it will not accept any plastic.

Qué sorpresa encantadora. Sólo probamos este chino porque para llevar johns ha estado cerrado por un largo tiempo. ¡Guau! ! Encantador, la comida sabrosa. Ahora han cambiado mi opinión de la mejor comida para llevar en Ely. Sin duda es el nuevo Dragon Inn. El personal es muy amable y hay una amplia variedad de platos. Este llevar mucho en el futuro.

Generalmente tienen indios o tailandeses, pero pensamos que le daría un chino una oportunidad. Perfecto, todo fue maravillosamente preparada, bien embalados y listo en solo 10 minutos!

Simplemente intentamos llevar por primera vez esta noche y será la primera opción para mí de ahora en adelante y yo vivo a 5 km de distancia.

Que pedimos desde aquí a menudo durante los últimos cuatro años, y la comida siempre es muy bueno! Gran variedad y buen servicio.

Mi familia han visitado esta para llevar unos cuantos años y siempre he tenido comida de buena calidad. No demasiado grasiento, que a veces salado o encontrar con otros para llevar.

Mi chino, nunca tuve problemas con la calidad de la comida, ordenar y servicio. Buen menú incluyendo el estilo tailandés, opciones vegetarianas y inglés. Recomendado.

Como el sábado pasado utilizados chico cumpleaños eligió China como su regalo. Elegimos una amplia variedad en el menú y todo estaba delicioso, le cocinado y caliente. Lo recomendaría para personas, son nuevas en Ely, así que no estamos seguros de donde probarlo. Habría dado excelente, pero nuestra orden de mezclado pelotas dulce y agria sólo con 11 en vez de 12.

Best Chinese food in Cambridgeshire, also Lisa & Joanna are fantastic and a good laugh too. I always have fried broccoli with egg fried rice and they will always change the sauce its in at no extra cost

Excellent food provided as always! Great customer service, polite staff, great atmosphere here and they have five star Hygiene! Definitely highly recommended!

We live nearby and use the New Dragon Inn regularly. Excellent food and service. Please note: This is a take away restaurant so you are not able to eat in but this is one of the best in the area.

This take away is the nearest you will get to a good Chinese restaurant, quality of ingredients are excellent and recommend as a good take away

Lovely meal on our first night in Ely, excellent service, good prices. Good to see this lovely building so nicely decorated and looked after
