Ordered a Thia green chicken curry for a takeaway... Found a hair in my food!

Most of the meal was fabulous, but the two packets of chips were definitely old chips absolutely awful

Pre ordered and was ready on time and piping hot,and 4 clean plates and reasonably priced ,can’t really say much more….. Ps and friendly service on phone,helpful with gluten-free as well….

Food was OK, but very overpriced. I did not receive 1 item and called back the following night to basically be told 'tough,you should have phoned last night' and I wouldn't have been charged for them, which I was. I didn't call the night of my order as I was not able to get back at that time. Nevermind, I won't be returning.

Always consistently good food. Friendly and fast service, good full portions and reasonably priced. Definitely worth trying.

Unfortunately I decided to purchase the Set meal B which came with pork balls. Regrettably I spent the next 2 days wedded to the toilet, having to consume Loperamide to control issues.

I really like Fortune Garden. Wide ranging menu, and the food is consistently good. Only downside is it is cash only, which regularly catches me out in an increasingly contact less world. Should definitely take cards.

Food was ok, rice was a bit old, orevall not too bad. Main issue here is the price. £13.90 for a meal for 1 is too expensive. I can not be spending that amount of money on my dinner, I ate it all and was hungry after.

Mostly great food, odd occasions where food doesn’t taste fresh. Compared with other local Chinese takeaways, Fortune Garden is by far the best. Front of house staff are always very friendly.

A great take away selection, the best crispy shredded beef worth travelling for. Only take cash or cheques though, no cards, didn't realise there were any establishemtns left that won't take plastic!

Ordered at 6.15pm for a collection, told it would be ready at 7.30pm, got there a bit early as had travelled 30 mis to get there, at 8pm asked them how long, told order had not even been started, total waste of our Xmas Eve & a hour journey, won’t be using these again. Whilst waiting watched staff take cash & then go to kitchen to help dish up food without washing their hands, so clearly no hygiene taking place there!!

Not as good as they say they are, service poor food just above fair. If you e mail them don't hold your breath for a reply.

Pre-ordered a collection time delivery. It was 45 mins late and lady begins the counter was so rude we will never go back.

Loved Fortune Garden when we lived in Ely 2004-2006. Great to see it’s still doing well.

Always great food from here, friendly service on the phone and in person. Some of these reviews crack me up. They don't hide the fact that they are cash only and that really isn't that unusual for Chinese takeaways in my experience, also don't mind at all that they are collection only! They advise on the phone how long the food will be and it's always been right ready and piping hot. Never had a bad meal. 5 stars from me, and will continue to tell people that this is the bets Chinese in town.

We collected delivery to our boat, we ordered imperial mixed h'odurves to start, this was plentiful and tasty, then duck in plum sauce which I was shocked at it being around £6 as we pay around £8 where live but it didn't disappoint! The only slight let down was Vermicelli, this was bland and no spices added. That said we would recommend and would visit again!

This was always my favourite Chinese in Ely but when we had a meal last Saturday it was dreadful, cold and tasteless. I pre ordered and was told it would be ready in 35 mins. I arrived 40 mins later and then waited another 10 mins for my meal to come out, unfortunately I will not be returning, very disappointed

I ordered duck with orange. It was terrible. There was much more, very sweet pineapple than orange. The 'orange sauce' was just some very sweet gloop that just tasted of sugar. It was more like a desert course than a main. The whole dish was borderline inedible.

We used to come here often years ago but management changed a few years ago (not sure how long exactly) My parents gave it a go again the other night and my mum had the beef mushrooms, sweet and sour, Singapore noodles and chips. She was sick after she finished her meal and had food poisoning for two days.

No card machine .... cash only. How annoying is it when you arrive to collect your take-away to find out that you cannot pay. Especially as they hadn't informed us about that when we phoned to order. What retailer / restaurant doesn't have such machine, especially when the vast majority of shops ask clients to pay contactless. Picked up meal after getting cash. No "Sorry for the inconvenience" which was infuriating. Quality of the food not bad but nothing special. We might go back when we're absolutely desperate for a Chinese and can't get it anywhere else. It's unlikely though.

The food is lovely usually but the service poor. They always tell you it’s gonna be a lot of a shorter wait than it actually is. Called at 17.10 - was told half hour. At 18.20 still no food so asked if it was going to be much longer. Such a rude lady on the desk. Told me I didn’t order until 17.40 (I had to show them my phone to prove I was correct) and got a snotty reply that they are busy it’s a Saturday. I understand this but give people more realistic time!!! Especially at the moment when you shouldn’t have to be sitting in a takeaway full of lots of different people for a long period of time because they can’t give you more of an accurate time to come and collect.

Wasn’t a bad effort - massive portions, chips were propped Chinese chips, crunchy exterior, soft interior. Rice was ok (nothing special) curry was flavoursome with beautifully crisp crunchy onions. I’d give this a 6/10, - I wouldn’t buy again however as it’s too expensive for what your getting: COST: £11.20! That must be £10 profit. This is OTT in my opinion. £7 tops!

Today was the first day we’d had a Chinese meal since lockdown. It was absolutely delicious! Thank you Fortune Garden - welcome back. My husband felt really safe with the Covid-19 precautions in place. Well done.

Takeaway Collect only, prices increased and portions dramatically reduced in size. Covid 19 obviously has had a dramatic negative impact on business but the current offering is not the way to regenerate sales.

We use Fortune Garden even though we live in Soham, it's worth the drive as it's the best Chinese takeaway for miles. Yes you might have to wait on a busy Friday / Saturday night, but that's only because it's so popular, but it's well worth the wait. Sweet and Sour chicken balls are a must...they're huge and really tasty. Highly recommend this takeaway.

Easy to order, either by phone or in-house. Food always hot and fresh, not greasy or salty. Our go to every time

Really nice food, shame they tell you over the phone that it will be 25 minutes but actually its more. We waited 1 hour and 30 minutes. The place was packed full of people with the same issue. So disappointing. We feel like using somewhere else as it's the last place we want to spend our Saturday evening.

Actually really nice food here, i ordered Sweet sour chicken balls an prawn balls Special chowmein Special rice Crispy shredded chilli beef Prawm toast Won tons Chips Curry sauce It was not that expensive under 35 quid only thing i dont like is the waiting time and that they dont deliver.... the prawn toast was burnt abit underneath and the chips arent that great nor is the bbq sauce but the other dishes made up for it. Best chicken/prawn balls

Food is great, relatively cheap and tastes nice but they don't accept card, don't deliver and if you order in person they don't tell you how long the wait will be. Can be an hour waiting for food and only find out the waiting times after you hear them tell someone on the phone. Also twice now we've ordered fortune cookies, been told not to order them, that they will be included and then they aren't included which we only find after getting home...

Placed our order over the phone at 19:00 and told it would be about an hour, we knew the shop was busy so went for a late night shop. We turn up about 20:15 so that we could be in and out however they hadn’t even started our order and by the sounds of it no one else’s, soon customer after customer demanded refunds and there must have been 5-7 phone calls to the shop for multiple missing items. Don’t get me wrong food is excellent however the customer service,especially the elderly lady up the front , is extremely poor. Her attitude towards customers is disgusting at times, slamming change on the counter and being really rude when dealing with complaints. Think they may need some young blood in the shop to keep up with the pace of a busy Friday night because she sure couldn’t.

Do not bother to pre order your food, rang through my order at 6..15 asking if I could pick up at 7.00, when I got there they had not even started cooking it, had to wait 35 minutes , my hubby had picked up a curry from the Indian, at 7.00, so was not to pleased, woman behind the counter was rather grumpy, a smile would have been nice, food was ok not great

Faced with a long wait at Ely train station i found this takeaway a ten minute walk away. Staff were friendly and helpful and my order arrived quickly. The food was hot and tasty and consumed a five minute walk away by the picturesque river,

This is a very good restaurant, the menu is very rich, I will come back next time, I highly recommend everyone to come here to eat.

For me this is the best Chinese take away in Ely (that I know of). It's a good thing they only accept cash payments, otherwise I'd eat there far too often. This is the only Chinese takeaway for me, the food is so good I can't bare ordering from anywhere else as it just doesn't live up to the same quality.

Always top quality and worth the wait at busier times, wouldn't go anywhere else in Ely

Have used this for a while when wanting Chinese. Chicken balls with sweet and sour great. They will change the dishes on the set meals if requested but may have to pay a little more. Can get busy at prime times so be prepared to wait if this happens.

Really good but check your order before leaving. Sometimes they get it wrong.

Fortune Garden Takeaway is a real gem. The place we had arranged to eat after attending a show in Ely closed early, leaving us hungry and disappointed. A quick check on googlemaps showed a takeaway just around the corner so we went there instead. lucky us! The staff were very friendly, even let our youngest child use their bathroom while we waited, and let us eat at a table in the waiting area as we had nowhere to go and sit while eating. It was only a simple feast; chips, chicken balls, sweat and sour sauce and chop suey, but it was delicious. A real treat. We would readily recommend the Fortune Garden as a place to go to for good service and good food. Thanks guys!

Can any one tell me why a food out let dose not take a card as payment went to the fortune Garden Ely ordered a large take away on a Sunday then told don't take card payment's only had £20 cash so could not get any food they were quite rude so we had to leave with no food cash only is this so they don't pay there income tax I don't know will never go there again

We went to this Chinese as we were staying on our boat in Ely marina. The food was nice, a little expensive but would go there again.

Gave out wrong order and staff are rude do not use this takeaway find an alternative take out.

My go-to Chinese in Ely. I haven't had a bad dish from them, and I have tried at least half the menu by this point. Good value for money. Salt and pepper squid and crispy chilli shredded beef are absolutely excellent.Worth bearing in mind that unlike other places they don't do delivery, and they only take cash payment (no cards).

Gave me the wrong rice I should of had Egg Fried rice u gave me pineapple and Cashew Nuts fried rice. I understand you where busy but this could of been a life fretting mistake. You where lucky that I am not. Won’t be going back. Rang them about mistake oh ok I got.

Been coming here for years, one of the best Chinese around. Loads to choose from, very quick and friendly service. Only downside, they don't deliver but worth collecting for.

We have ordered takeaways from the Fortune Garden regularly over the past year and have not had a bad meal yet! The portions are decent sizes and more than enough for one. To be honest if you have a small appetite we think you could share one between two. The prices are reasonable and despite one hiccup at a very busy time when we had to wait ages for our meal, usually they are ready to collect in 15 or so minutes.Would recommend you try them.

I'd been told the food here was good so perhaps I went on an off-day.... Service could have been better and the food was just 'OK'. Maybe I'll try again another time.

We ordered the salt and pepper chicken as one of the main dishes. It was all batter, I didn't see any chicken. The rice was very sticky It's always been a hit and miss from here. We won't be using this take away again.

Customer Service today what could i say, lots of customers complaining, when finally got food on this visit it was cold, half cooked not pleasant at all, have used this on a weekly basis for sometime now really dont know what has gone wrong but certainly will be looking for an alternative

This is a takeaway located a few mins walk moorings on the R Ouse hence useful for boaters visiting Ely. Good food prepared quickly and friendly front of house staff.

Worst food ever. They even managed to get the order wrong and then the food was dry and tasteless. Worried it wasn't actually edible to didn't eat any. Very disappointed

First time here. Lovely girl on the counter took the order politely and very efficiently. Food was fairly priced and prepared fairly swiftly. It tasted just as good as other places in Ely and elsewhere.

Best duck pancakes that I have had in the uk. We ordered about fifteen dishes and they were all excellent. Schechuan chicken was lovely and spicy.

So out of all places you can eat at in Ely, this is my favourite! It is a chinese take away joint yes.. and it is so cheap and tasty. I would give it 5/5 if they start delivering but sadly they don't so that is kind of a put off sometimes if it's a crappy day. I would definitely be using them more if they delivered so maybe it is for the best...

Great takeaway, the only Chinese we use in Ely. good value, good food, rarely is the order wrong it has happened but in the early days of using the restaurant. Recommend it if you fancy a Chinese Takeaway in Ely. They don't do delivery but quite accurate pick up times are given.

We had two meals from here and we really enjoyed every dish that we had. We tried the Hong Kong sweet and sour pork, the crispy chilli beef and the special fried rice which were all good.

The Fortune Garden can be guaranteed to provide a good meal whether it be for just the two of us or when friends are round.

Family take away - efficient service , despite being busy our food was prepared in 20 minutes. Portions were good - ribs were excellent. Kids loved getting the fortune cookies

The waiting area lets you see through to the kitchen where the food is being cooked. Always fresh & tasty, but not always the fastest service - probably best to order over the phone then collect (take-away only).

We keep going back to this resteraunt even though there is one much closer to our house. The quality, freshness, speed and price are great!!! We will return, many times!!!
