Lotus House in South Cambridgeshire

First takeaway here tonight. Delicious Been hunting for a decent pancake roll for a few years since "Normans" lotus house royston, tonight we found it. Will deffo be using again.

We have used Lotus House many times over the years. We found it when staying nearby in Gt Shelford in our Touring Caravan. Dont have a caravan now, but we travel from Bedfordshire. We visited Friday evening for the first time in little a while - still the same fab food and excellent service. Really enjoyed it. Definitely recommend 👍

*MASSIVE EDIT* ... FYI - I am leaving my original review of what now isn't the Lotus House in Sawston, depressingly! These are my comments re the "takeaway ' thats replaced it ... Well, i can confirm, lt is rubbish. Total, utterly twaddle. Service is now non existent, food is really quite shockingly bad & they've literally left everything the same, in & on the exterior of 5he shop ... The perfect example of total day and night differences!! Literally, the BEST Chinese food, from the BEST Chinese Takeaway, I have EVER been to & tried. The food is absolutely always 100% freshly made to your order, and any specific requests you have a happily received. The food is of the highest quality, cooked expertly & portion sizes are very generous, indeed!! Hand on heart, the ONLY Chinese Takeaway that I will go to. Recommended to veggies, too, due to the high range of vegetarian and vegan dishes. And to top it off, it is very modestly priced.

I have been using this Chinese for over thirty years. We absolutely love it and we now live down near Huntingdon and we will travel to pick up a Beef curry, as we simply can’t find one round our way that compares. The food is great and the staff so friendly. Highly recommended!!!

Honestly , the worst Chinese I have ever had . Lovely people , friendly staff , but omg , soooooo bland the food , seriously tasteless, the pork balls very little meat , the rice had 0 taste , the satay sauce had 0 flavour , even the sweet and sour had 0 sweetness . Honestly wouldn’t eat there again even if I got paid . go to mayflower , seriously

I have to honestly say I almost killed my mum after eating at this krakhouse of a place. PLEASE... Don't order salt n pepper chicken, anything with prawns, sweet n sour was worse than death...Ohh and don't order anything with food in it. SHOCKIN FAMILY

Open again after a 4 month hiatus. The food and the service is just as it has been fir the last 15 years. In my opinion this is thr best Chinese food in Sawston

What a lovely Chinese! Had crispy wontons (they were king prawn) Sesame prawn toast, The chefs special appetizer thing which is wonton, 2 ribs, crispy seaweed and prawn toast. I had the roast chicken chow mein which was a quarter of a chicken in barbecue sauce and the chow mein noodles. Omg so lovely! They're lovely there! Unfortunately they are moving at the end of January 2022 so will have to keep an eye on them to see where they move to. Will defo eat there again! Next time I'll try the wonton soup and special chow mein. Waited until the next day to review just incase it was a 'bad chinese' and nope, all good!

Excellent service as always fantastic food

I've ordered a beef chow mein without bean-sprouts and as I opened the package I saw plain boiled beef and plain boiled noodles. It tasted like literal plastic. I do not recommend this Chinese. Also the portion size was way smaller than any other Chinese Restaurant. Even if this was a fastfood takeaway, it would not be pleasant. The chow mein is meant to be fried in chow mein sauce. This is simply unacceptable and LOW. How in the world do I see 5 stars?? Such a waste of money.

Incredibly average Chinese food, dumbed down for the English like is everywhere except for a few big cities, notably London. Wouldn't it be nice if, for once, a provincial takeaway did things a bit differently? A bit more authentically? I think we can all agree that salt and chilli squid should be crispy, but guess what happens when you put it in with a load of salad (that no-one wants)? The noodles were decent, the kids liked the luminous orange sauce on everything. But overall, just another uninspiring Chinese takeaway. Should have learned my lesson by now.

Really tasty food and they allow for alternations in dishes. Great value. Cash only though, so a trip to the cash point beforehand.

Absolutely disgusting and inedible Beef and ginger and egg fried rice. Swimming in soy sauce. One mouthful and had to bin it and settle for a pizza. Not what I wanted but had expected better from established business

Lovely little classic local Chinese. It's been in the village for years and is run by a very nice local family. I suggest the crispy shredded chilli beef.

Never fails to produce fantastic food

Unfortunately not good, chips were stone cold, tough and dry. Same for the chicken balls. The free prawn crackers were the best dish.

Sorry to say that meal I ordered was in part good , but part was warm ups even though i went there an hour and a half after they opened. not recommended when i paid full price for a quality meal, hence 2 stars.

I am a professional lorry driver and the lotus house is my local chinese. I have not come across another one that is as good as this on my travels. Outstanding food and customer service.

Very good food and the staff are very polite

I have been using this for 25 years we now live in Huntingdon and still pop in and pick up a take away when passing, yes it stays warm till we get home and the food is amazing.

My colleagues and I work in the dental practice down the road on the high street and have been ordering from the Lotus House for the last 5 years. Consistently good food, excellent value for money and friendly service. Highly reccomend.
