Lord of the Isles in Renfrewshire

It says something when the ice cream is hotter than the chicken strips. Also in the boneless basket supposed to be 3 strips not 2.

We came for breakfast and got 2 breakfast muffins, on with a hash brown and the other with black pudding. Bacon was over done, eggs were too runny which made it very messy. Muffin bun was hard. Coffee machines kept breaking and running out of milk so we gave up on that. Service was slow, took quite a while for our mugs to come not to mention the age we waited for the food. Sugar stash was empty and not really any sign of anyone to mention it to. Air con is on very high so was quite chilly.

Very poor service, all 4 meals served after 50 minutes from ordering. One meal not as ordered and not very good quality and another meal cold. Didn't bother complaining as when we were served our food we were told the food was on a 45 minute delay. Lots of other people complained about the service length. Pity they couldn't have said that at the start and we'd have gone to the Projectionist next door. Don't like giving a bad review normally and we do normally like Wetherspoons, but on this occasion I think a negative review is well justified.

A decent enough ‘spoons. Light and airy with big windows to the front and modern decor. Quick service. Veggie breakfast OK and coffee good even though from machine. No issues and would visit again.

The portions were small and Ramen was just too sour.

I love this Wetherspoons! The prices are frankly ridiculous. What can you even buy for £1 these days, but for less than a fiver you get a big breakfast and a refillable coffee. Unreal. I spent many happy days here during my time off between jobs enjoying the food and drink and the friendly staff. The place is generally clean and is extremely safe, even as a sole female visitor. The wine is good and there’s a good selection of desserts. I also like the alcohol free cider. As a haiku: Wetherspoons’ delight, Breakfast, coffee, for a steal, Warmth in every meal.

Great pub and food had a good time

We had a meal here Sunday night, we thought it would be a safe bet for a decent meal. I had scampi and it came within minutes, but the chips and mushy peas were tepid at best. My wife had the steak pudding and all her meal was cold. We did bring this to the attention of staff who bought fresh chips. But by then we had had enough. They gave us dessert, but the sticky toffee was also tepid. I don't know if they had a microwave not working, but it was a very disappointing experience. Thehotelreview

What to say, it's Spoons! The Lord of the Isles, was good. Very clean, staff were friendly. I'd go back again. Only issue for some reason, on curry night I couldn't get chips instead of rice, only as extra. Had Madras curry in several other Spoons, it was never a problem before?

Good pub, great beer and great value. Friendly manager and staff. Good place for night out with friends. We were in on Friday before Christmas and the pub was very busy and lively, a great atmosphere. We were part of Renfrew North Church leading carol singing and lots of participation from other customers and lots of festive cheer. Service from staff great and a real good night.

Popped in with the family and was greeted by Donna, service was great and wait time was excellent. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a drink or a meal. Returned for a Christmas Eve drink and the atmosphere is amazing really nice staff

I ordered a two scoop ice cream it came a very small one scoop and a little melted ice cream . It hardly covered the bottom of a small bowl. When I asked a member of staff I was told yes there is two scoop in there it’s melted a bit they are not very big . We had had one the day before and it looked completely different to days . Very disappointing

Asked twice for someone to clear our table after having sat down at one which had clearly been sitting uncleared for a while with no other options. Attitude of both members of staff was very blasé about it when asked. 20 minutes later had to walk out with the table still not having been cleared. Unacceptable.

They say they are not dog friendly- but they don’t even let you sit outside with your dog!!

My usual go to place, great fish n chips, very reasonable prices.

Pop in here weekly with my elderly father. Staff are always kind and friendly to both of us, and with a pint of real ale at the £2 mark there is not much to complain about 🍻. Food wise it's standard Wetherspoons fayre, a large menu to choose from with veggie and lighter menus available. Very family friendly, plenty of folks in with their kids. Expect it to be busy when events are on at the adjacent Braehead Arena.

The fish and chips is amazing and Donna always welcomes us with a bright smile and very friendly.

Cracking pub to go for a few pints with pals or a bite to eat with the family.

Donna, who manages the place does a fantastic job. Her staff are all well trained in what they do. Food is excellent in my opinion as I live local and eat here often. Never had to complain. Atmosphere is good as a lot of Ferry Village locals drink here and has a “local” pub atmosphere. Second to none in all the JD Wetherspoon pubs I’ve been in. Recommended.

Ordered 3 meals 2 of which had alcoholic drinks when the server came out with the drinks and challenged us for ID when we had clear visible tattoos we were refused the alcoholic drinks. (We are all above 22) The rude server argued with us about the Scottish law and refused to give me the £1 difference on the alcohol to a glass of lemonade.

I've been using this as a local since 2012 when in Glasgow, without any quality issues, however, went in there on Sunday night 04/09/22 and tried 4 different real ales, and you couldn't see through one of them, never mind drink them! Didn't go in there for another drink until Saturday 10/09, but real ales were still looked like soup & undrinkable. Complaints to staff were ignored as nobody else had complained, allegedly, though i cant believe that! On Monday 05/09 had breakfast in there, and the carpets were filthy, same again on Wednesday 07/09, so just ate elsewhere afterwards. This was my last ever visit to what used to be a good pub with good beer up until my last visit in September 2021, but since then, this place has become a REAL ALE DISASTER ZONE! Back there today 26/08/2024, and nothing seems to have changed. A brief taster of Trooper wasn't too bad, so risked a pint - big mistake so ditched Trooper & had a pint of Stella before heading into Glasgow centre for the afternoon. Back there next day or two, as after this stay Braehead is permanently blacklisted as far as I'm concerned!!!

Stopped off here for a bite to eat on Sunday 25th August around 6pm. I ordered a 8oz Gormet Steak and it arrived over cooked. I did ask for medium rare. The garlic bread was really over cooked aswell. Very dry and brittle. I raised my concerned with the waiting staff when he asked if everything was ok with our meal. When I told him he basically shrugged his shoulders. I get that it’s relatively cheap food but this js by far the worse spoons experience I’ve had in years. The staff at the site really need to up there game. Take pride in the job and really be more customer focussed.

the flowers outside the restaurant are delicious. 100% tastes better than spinach. aftertaste is kinda like spinach. either way marvellous

Had a great time at lord of the isles , Donna was absolutely brilliant, she is so bubbly , looked after us very well , served us great at the bar , the other staff were great as well , she is very professional, will be back soon

It's prices are very reasonable I was there for lunch later in the week food wasn't all that good but makes up with your free refills of tea, coffee etc

Honestly always good value and relatively nice food. Got the vegan curry and it was really good. The naan was clearly microwaved though and a bit tough. Good that they have a full vegan menu now too

Would recommend this Wetherspoons again. Normally Glasgow city centre but here at Braehead service exceptional. Staff very courteous and tables cleaned promptly.

When Donna the manager is on I would give 5 star for everything you can just tell as soon as you walk in. The tables are clear the staff are happy and service is very efficient. The events she has organised such as Christmas singing was really good and made it feel like Christmas. Donna has excellent relationships with all regulars and makes all guests feel welcome. We visit frequently 🤣 and prefer when she is in.

Beautiful, Freshly cooked vegetarian breakfast. Very good value for money. Quality is always consistent as its JDWS.

This is one of the best spoons I have been in. It has become my local and all the staff excluding no one are great and the service is always quick and the cleanliness is alway a big plus. Great parking. Would recommend

A warm welcome as always at the lord of the isles. Good food at a reasonably price and the best beer in the local area. Pass a lot of pubs on the way to the lords of the isles but it’s worth the walk.

Place is nice and quiet first thing .lovely breakfast,friendly staff. Afternoons is busy outside when its clear sky.smokers side and normal side lol. A great atmosphere like a beer garden in clear sunny sky's .brolly up if you hate sunburn. Nothing like an icebucket with reasonable priced wine.2 flutes,bottle of strathmore sparkling water. I like scampi chips mushy peas and an xtra portion of scampi,side of coleslaw dipping chips in 🤪 Give the nice staff a tip. You get look after .Enjoy the great weather. Pity they don't do a bbq outside with a chef standing all day .Oh and if you need the toilets there up lots stairs so don't drink too much booze 😂. Clothes ,perfumes etc.shops are 5mins walk away.

As Whetherspoons go this one is bright, I suppose because it's custom built rather than the older more common branches. Still the same polite helpful staff. The prices are a little higher here but it's still cheaper than other similar eateries 👍

You know when you go to a wetherspoons what your getting but I have never ever in my life seen a breakfast as appalling!!mushrooms raw on a plate when asked for cooked mushrooms one came back slightly warm after being dunked in the deep fat fryer and the other still raw the only thing warm was the plate .. poached eggs freezing cold not an ounce of warmth in it . I know you work off microwaves but seriously if your chef can't cook a breakfast then you need a new chef!! I was a chef for 19 years and never in my life have I ever seen anything so bad and I have never walked out a place before til today.. how you haven't gave anyone food poisoning before ..well luck must be with you... Outrageous

Cheap bevy other than that breakfast was disgusting,Filthiest spoons on the planet, was plenty of empty tables but everyone littered with dirty plates glasses etc seemed to be plenty of staff but just nobody bothering clearing or cleaning anywhere,toilets were just as manky sticking to the floor etc.

Breakfast deal was a wee bit overpriced but unlimited coffee made up for it.

We have been in a couple of times,and both times the food has been cold (the chips and the beans) the fish was hot,there also seems to be a problem with the coors lager both times the drink tastes of soap or chemicals, and even although it was not to busy in the early afternoon tables not cleared and food under the tables not cleaned up.

Went for lunch here with my Granddaughter today. We ordered 2 small plates of chicken bites, 1 small plate of chips and 2 teas. Floor and table were sticky, table still had the previous customer's plate with leftover food on it. When our cups and cutlery were brought over, we had to ask for a cloth to clean the table. Seating was stained and needs replacing. I would not recommend this establishment due to the cleanliness issues. Take your custom elsewhere.

As we all know, wetherspoon 's drink prices are a lot lower than other competitors. Their food is so much cheaper and on most occasions includes a drink.

We have eaten here several times and always enjoyed the food but today was the exception. Our chips were cold and the coating on my buttermilk chicken burger tasted really weird. Not very impressed tbh.

All booths were empty but tables were dirty and covered in dishes. Choosen item was off and substitute choice was poor quality served on cold plates jot much cooler than the food. Food was practically dropped on the table rather than served and no offer of salt pepper etc. Table next to us was american tourists and their service was far more attentive (I assume due to their tipping culture). Whole venue looked tired and unwelcoming but mostly needing a good clean.

A great selection of drinks and the staff are all doing an excellent job keeping everywhere nice and clean during the ongoing Covid-19 situation. The food is good and what you'd expect from Wetherspoons pubs.
