Long An Restaurant in Kingston upon Hull, City of

Great food and good location. Service it spot on and fast. Food is quite authentic compared to what I experienced in Vietnam but it is toned down significantly regarding spiciness (ask them to bring on the heat to make it real). It is more “sit down” food so don’t expect a takeaway meal. I have been there 5 times and so far not been disappointed.

Great place for a relaxed get together. Food is great, authentic Thai cuisine. Never had a bad meal here

The food was tasty, but unfortunately it was cold. Three of us were served cold food. When the waitress asked us if everything was okay, we told her about the food being cold and the plates not being warmed. She said she would speak to the chef and that was it.

The food was tasteless cold and the service was rubbish. The starters and the mains were luke warm at best. A request was made for the food to be heated up but it came back out the same luke warm temperature. The food was tasteless and quite bland. The portion size of the chicken main was abysmal and the portion of rice was about the size of an egg cup, there was a small quale egg which covered the circumference of the rice to give you an idea of the portion size. The noodles were bland and tasteless. The pork starter nothing special. There is an unnecessarily amount of raw inedible veg used on dishes also. For example, on the small salad on the main dish it was on a bed of raw red cabbage leaves. There was only us and another couple on a Saturday night at approximately 9pm in the restaurant. There is no wonder the place was so empty, the food is not great and the service is worse. The menu also needs changes, you cannot order the set the set menus which are shown and they are on the first few pages. The actual menu does not include some of the dishes on the set menu which actually are more appealing. The staff , one meal came out and I had to go over and asked for it to be heated up, I took it over to a staff member myself. The meal came back a few minutes later, no different. Then the other main came out after that. If two people are dining together they want to eat together. NO ONE came and asked if the meals were okay. I think they may have already known the answer.

Absolutely superb food. Outstanding presentation, high-quality ingredients, and very generous portions. Service was exceptionally friendly. Fantastic restaurant. Would highly recommend it.

Quite a large restaurant on Paragon Square. Vietnamese food. Whilst the dishes were very well presented and looked FAB- both were disappointing- the chicken was very finely sliced and took on a slimy texture. The beef was rather tough and chewy. There were also service issues- short staffed ? There seems to be a heavy mark up on wines.

Delicious fresh tasting food. We shared starters and mains. All four dishes had lovely fresh tasting flavours. Good ambience in the room, with one table occupied by a Vietnamese party. Friendly helpful staff.

First impressions were the place was under staffed as there was only one waiter. Consequently we were kept waiting for drinks on arrival, that said, the member of staff was very pleasant throughout our visit & did his best. It appears to be very clean, spotless toilets....always a good sign! The menu is small and comprehensive & reasonably priced. Drinks wise, there are 2 choices of draft beer, one had "run out' and the other ran out during our meal (it was a brand we'd never tried & had a very odd "vinegar" taste) ...I couldn't drink it and went on to bottled beer.. my husband persevered but after his first drink that had "run out" too, so he ended ordering a bottle....therefore he ended up having 3 different beers during our visit! He suffered from an upset stomach during the evening, so we're a little concerned it could be related to this. I would recommend just sticking to bottled beer... Having visited Vietnam we were so looking forward to enjoying the food again.........sadly we found the food to be bland and unappetising...although one could not fault the presentation or portion sizes For starters we had the spring rolls and spare ribs...the latter were very odd (like deconstructed meat wrapped around a large piece of lemon grass...we felt it tasted very odd. Mains...duck curry hot pot & stir fry beef with rice noodles....the beef was very chewy, which made it hard going & subsequently unenjoyable. So in summary its a shame but we felt overall disappointed and wouldn't return...

Absolutely terrible experience. Food 0 stars! (Although the starters were nowhere near as bad as the mains!) Not sure why there are so many great reviews as it was so poor in so many different ways! We had the chicken platter which was seriously over cooked that we were unable to cut it with a knife, let alone chew it! The beef hot pot was tasteless and the beef again, was inedible. We did not eat any beef (I chewed it and had to spit it out as awful as that sounds as it would not break down so I could swallow it). I don’t know if we just came when they were having a bad night as someone else was complaining their prawns were undercooked but it was pretty much a disaster! On top of the poor standard of food the wait for it was so so long! We waited 40 minutes for our mains. After complaining, they offered us 20% off the total bill which was an insult to be honest. We said we would pay minus the £17.99 for the beef dish as we didn’t eat it. They agreed (in the end). The waitress was very apologetic, so can’t fault her.

Group of seven visited on a Saturday night, every starter and main course was outstanding in terms of appearance, quality and taste. Great atmosphere. Only downside was the arrival of main courses, the time between the first two being brought to the table and the last two was a little long. We didn’t let this spoil our evening and will definitely be visiting again soon.

Very good food, polite staff, nice surroundings. Very convenient for city centre. We looked at a few places - not very prepossessing - tried the main station hotel and were turned away “not open to the public”! without any explanation - and luckily saw this. Recommended.

Absolutely wonderful experience. Went there for my friends 50th. The food was delightful, the service excellent. Only ruined at the end of the night by some hideous woman complaining loudly but clearly just trying to get a free meal! Everyone in the restaurant was in vocal disagreement with her! WOW.. We randomly stumbled on this place and what a find. On first impressions is looks like a standard, nothing to impressive restaurant. However, you to to a resurant for the food and the service. Both were 10 out of 10. Every single item of food was exceptional. I will 100 percent be returning. 5 stars to the chef and all the staff.

Came back to Hull after 28 years with friends to visit as we were students here. Excellent meal, quick service, friendly , couldn’t have asked for more. Courtney our waitress was brilliant and chatted to us about where to go and fab explanation of the menu. Would highly recommend the place and the food .

Me my partner and two friends went to Long An recently for a meal. The restaurant is nicely decorated the seating is comfortable The food that we had was great tasted fantastic. The thing that let the place down was there was no heating on in the restaurant it was freezing cold and we had to keep our coats on! We asked about the heating and they just kept saying sorry no heating and brought us hot tea. SORT THE HEATING SITUATION OUT AND YOU WOULD GET FIVE STAR REVIEWS!!!
