Lock Gates in Hartlepool

Went today with my partner and son the service was outstanding the staff make you feel very welcome. The food was the best Sunday dinner we have ever had , the portion size was really good and the food was delicious and fresh , the price was good value for money, Very clean and amazing customer service will definitely return would highly recommend

Great food and service today. We were that impressed we are going back for breakfast tomorrow. The owner was lovely even put more hot water in our teapot for us.

The food was amazing, up to standard nothing to complain about. However the manager there is a rude piece of work. The way he spoke to my family was absolutely disgusting, he even took the card from my Grandma and asked for her pin to put it in himself stating he “ wouldn’t remember the pin” and proceeded 10 minutes later to take the card off her again and type her pin in. To make matters worse he wanted us out as soon as we paid and wasn’t nice about it at all. will not be returning for this matter

Our favourite weekend brunch destination. Regularly walk here with the kids and pooch. Great little dog friendly cafe / restaurant. Breakfast is really tasty and excellent value, with a great selection of menu options. Treats for my pooch as well so she loves it here too. Sunday lunch is very popular, would recommend booking ahead for Sunday lunch though as it gets busy.

10/10 food definitely recommend first time hear definitely will be back

Had an excellent bacon sandwich and cup of tea today in the middle of a dog walk along from Seaton Carew to Hartlepool Marina and back. We ordered the bacon well done and it was perfect while my dog enjoyed his own snack. They had a fresh bowl of water for dogs which is great. Highly recommend and will be back.

I called in here today as its dog friendly, when I'm on my own I find it difficult to get a drink or food as other places don't let you enter with a dog. I had a full breakfast which was delicious, service was fast & staff were friendly to myself & my dog, he got a treat 😀

Lovely breakfast, even made me an extra poached egg when the first one popped 😂 (I didn’t ask and wasn’t bothered that it popped). Great atmosphere, 1 downside - dog friendly but no dogs were in there for me to play with during my visit 😒

my waitress was so nice however the manager needs an attitude check as the way he was speaking to some of the young girls was appalling. As well as this i happened to find a short black hair in my breakfast meal. not good won’t be eating here again.

Nice spot on the hartlepool marina for a coffee. Wide variety menu. Ordered a caramel iced coffee and a cappuccino, both were tasty. Reasonable prices, came to £6. Didn't order food but it looked nice so will be back to try!

Can’t fault the food, the problem is the owner! Never in my life have I been spoken to the way this man spoke to us. I could understand if we were a drunken rowdy bunch outstaying our welcome but we were there for brunch, with my elderly parents and my young children- far from rowdy! Our booking was 11am, we arrived just after 11:05, when we sat the waitress informed us there was another booking after us at 12:30- absolutely fine we needed to be elsewhere at 12:30 so no problem. We had all finished our food and were just finishing off our drinks (12:15)when the owner came to the table and started his speech with “I’m not being funny but you came late for your booking, you’re arrived at 11:30 and the people who have booked for 12:30 are here and they keep coming in, I’m not gonna turn them away when you were late so I need you to leave” extremely aggressive towards us, talking to us like he’d asked us multiple times before and we were just not leaving! Why not just come and ask us to finish our drinks so they can clean the table ready for the 12:30 booking?! It’s not our issue the next table arrived early!! If it was flipped around and I was the 12:30 booking I’d be mortified knowing he’d done that to a family so we could sit at our table earlier than we’d booked. So unbelievably rude -not to mention completely uncalled for! Ruined the whole experience and I’m shocked he would speak to his customers that way, especially when we were not being difficult in the least. I’m surprised he keeps any customers if he speaks to them in this way. Happy to say, we won’t be returning.

Lunch on a quiet Tuesday. I had the half lot and my fellow diner chose a hot pork baguette. Service was good except I had to ask to purchase a glass of soda water. Food was delivered by the efficient team and was delicious. This venue is well worth a visit if you can get a parking ticket from the overworked AI machine!

Called in today for lunch. Good choice of menu and excellent value for money. I stumped for chicken parmo with chips and salad and was superb. Wife went for spicy sizzling chicken platter with chips which again she thoroughly enjoyed. Will certainly be going back.

Came across this lovely place on Tuesday while visiting Seaton with my family. Have to say the food is beautiful. In fact perfect food and service. I got the sweet chilli chicken baguette. and couldn't finish it because it was a huge plateful. Lovely homemade chips coleslaw and salad as well as the baguette. And my daughters and grandkids polished off all of theirs. Will certainly be paying a visit here again soon. Lots to choose from on the menu. And can't wait to try the Sunday lunch.. Big thanks to all the staff. Amazing place to eat.

Popped in here for quick snack. 1 x ham and cheese omelette with toast. 1 x cheese and onion toastie, came with homemade coleslaw and salad. Very nice. And 2 x lattes. £16 ( 23/8/23). Good service and very friendly.

So today we were in Lock Gates when our son (6) started choking on some gammon ! Literally the scariest thing a parent can go through when patting him on the back wasn’t budging it! In runs Ken who grabs him and dislodges this piece of gammon! Literally happened so fast it was unreal but a massive Thankyou to Ken & the team! He is absolutely fine and finished the rest of his gammon no problem and every time we ask where he wants to go for food he says “the gammon place” 🤣 🍽️ Amazing food every time from The Lock Gates can never fault them 👍👍👍👍👍

We really enjoy coming here. The food is always great and the service is always friendly. We also love that we can bring the dogs along on the condition they're well behaved. Prices are also really reasonable.

Always a pleasure eating and meeting friends for a cuppa in the Lock Gates. Ken and Staff delivered a superb service and quality food for my Wife's Mother's 80th birthday. She was over the moon and everyone loved the food in our large group. Everyones food served together. Highly recommended as usual. Thanks Ken.

Really friendly place and very dog welcoming too even some dog biscuits for our boys 👌🏻 we had 2 breakfasts with extra pancakes and drinks just over £20 and was fantastic taste will definitely revisit if back in the area.

I wanted somewhere for a nice (decent) full English breakfast with my wife. I was blown away by the Lock Gates. Beautiful, modern, and stylish decor but still welcoming and friendly. Great atmosphere and polite and attentive staff. The food and quality of service was (in my opinion) second to none and great value too. The Lock Gates is definitely my new, favourite local social spot from now on. I highly recommend anyone to try them out.

Sited almost on their namesake at the marina in Hartlepool, this atmospheric harbourside café serves excellent food with passion in stylish surroundings. It seems to be popular with the locals as every time I've visited with family, even through lockdown there was a wait for tables and I can see why, the food is great quality and there is an ample sufficiency of it. My parents on this visit had the Scampi of which there was almost too much of for both of them, I demolished their large breakfast which is huge with: 4 sausages, 4 large rashers of bacon, 2 eggs, 2 rounds black pudding, 2 large ramekins of beans, 2 hash browns, A large portion of mushrooms and two very thick slices of toast. A veritable feast for the hungry!

Food is always great, definately good value for money. Family friendly including your fur babies. Would definately recommend their Sunday Dinners.

Me and my partner went today for dinner I got parmo with cheesy chips and my partner got Hunters chicken and we both agreed it was the best we ever had and we have been to alot of restaurants absolutely cooked to perfection also salad was very fresh and great friendly staff will definitely be going again thanks

Staying at the Premier Inn so an easy walk to the Lock Gates for breakfast. Delicious, freshly cooked food, great atmosphere, dog friendly and very reasonably priced. Will be back tomorrow morning.

Brilliant. It was the best meal we've had out in a long time. The food and service deserve five stars, it was excellent. We had chicken parmo and hunters chicken and real chips, it was all delicious. Will definitely return.

Brilliant service, ideal for those with disabilities. Easy access etc. The staff are fantastic and helpful. The food is scrumptious . Parking must be paid for via a machine found in the main car park or alternatively by the parking app.

We have been for Sunday lunch again today. Brilliant service as usual. The food is amazing all four of us had the hotch potch (3 meat Sunday roast) The cheesecake desserts are to die for especially the Crunchie one.

I visited the Lock Gates today with my sister. I love the interior decor, it's really nice and looks great! I love the matching of charcoal grey on the wood, with a stormy grey on the walls - it's exactly the same colour scheme I used in my bedroom. The staff were very friendly and helpful and the Lock Gates was pristine, very clean and tidy. Despite being quite busy the service was great. I had the chicken, bacon, stilton and garlic baguette with double or triple (not sure which) cooked chips and an iced latté with hazelnut syrup. My sister had the roast beef baguette with double or triple cooked chips and gravy and a caramel iced latté. The food looked so amazing we tried each others. The chips were really, really, good. I'm not a fan of beef but that was beautiful. All of the food was exceptional and at about £11-12 each, it was well worth the money. There's an abundance of parking, I think £2 for two hours is the lowest rate as of 28 June 2022. Dog's allowed. Thanks Lock Gates!

Had lunch here today. I had grilled chicken burger chips and salad hubby has stlton chicken and bacon baguette with chips and salad. The food was amazing. The only reason I've given it 4 stars was that they stop serving at 2.30 and close at 3 we like a late lunch so it was a bit rushed But I would go there again.

Lovley food and the servers are always pleasant. Good priced kids menu and very accommodating too.
