Loch Arthur Creamery and Cafe is a very nice place to pick up great produce or have a nice bite to eat. We stopped and enjoyed coffees and cake. Both very nice. Staff friendly and dining are clean and modern. Well worth a visit

We enjoyed a curried parsnip soup each. Friendly staff. Waitress service. Free water available. No room for cake sadly. Wish we'd discovered it earlier in the holiday. Lovely setting. Super clean toilets. Lovely goodies available to buy, mostly pricey but the odd affordable item.

The Smithy

27/09/2018: We stopped here for morning tea while travelling. The cafe is in a charming town and has a cosy feel. The servers were friendly and the scones with jam and cream were lovely. One of us enjoyed a black coffee but the cappuccino was disappointing. This may not be the place to stop if you are in a rush as everything takes place at village pace, but if you are not in a hurry it is a very pleasant place to pause.
30/09/2018: Found this by accident as we drove around Loch Ken. In a lovely setting next to Mill Burn with outside seating too. Had a quick look around the giftshop before ordering breakfast. Soft boiled egg with soldiers and latte for me and bacon / egg batch and tea for OH. Lovely. Couldn't resist the treacle scone and cream as had never had one before. Even suggested some treacle to spread instead of butter. Delicious! Dairy alternative (it was almond the day we visited). Lovely staff. Quality homecooked food. Popular with bikers too. Loved the toilet sign - Och Aye The Loos. Genius!

The Clachan Inn Restaurant

15/10/2018: The clachan inn has a cosy bar with a great selection of beers. The food is extremely tasty and well priced. I go there every time I'm in the area and am never disappointed.
02/12/2018: Came for my hubby’s birthday. It was the night of the Thistle Awards at which the Clachan was in the final for best pub/ hotel in Dumfries &Galloway;.
