The seafood and sweet potato noodles are very delicious and highly recommended. The squirrel fish is also delicious and the part without juice remains crispy. The crayfish is also handled very carefully and the toilet is very clean👍 (emphasis added) outstanding quality, out of my expectations, very recommend

Foods are amazing, we had a blast time enjoying our lunch there. Though we didn't get to go to pick our fresh live seafood but we trusted the restaurant to provide fresh seafood anyway. The prawn doesn't taste like it's the same day old level of fresh but with the vermicelli is still super tasty with the sauce and it goes well with fried rice.

I ordered three dishes: oysters, squid and flower crab. All very fresh! You can also pick them directly in the aquarium (I’m not very good at it so I didn’t see it in person). In fact, the dishes I ordered are enough for two people, but I would like to eat more seafood. The most satisfying thing is the oysters, which are relatively fresh, sweet and plump, and they are delicious without too much sauce. Crabs and squid both taste good, but crabs have too much starch in the gravy and will stick together when cold. It is better to eat them while they are hot. The squid is very elastic, I like it very much~ When I saw the aquarium and teapot, I felt like I was back in Guangdong and Guangxi seafood restaurants in China. It was very friendly.

Somehow the area where we were sat was colder than outside. Service was very slow, ultimately we ended up going to get someone so we could order. When the food did arrive, they forgot the rice. Of the 2 main dishes we ordered, one of them was wrong. The itself was fairly tasty and reasonably priced. However, due to the issues it is hard to justify giving more than 2 stars.

We came here for Lunar New year and had the best time ever. We ordered a ton of seafood - the lobster was immaculate, I would also strongly recommend the crab & any of the fish dishes. Winter melon & clam soup was phenomenal. Pork belly, tong Choi & cumin lamb not pictured here but also excellent. The service was great, we had a room to ourselves. We split the bill between 5 of us and the cost was very good for the amount of amazing food that we had. We can't wait to come back here!

Live Seafood is an amazing spot on Ashton Old Road that’s really worth the trip. We booked a table for two on Friday night and had a fabulous time, seated in our own private room upstairs from the fish market. Prices for each dish range usually from around £18 to £30 other than for some really big, special options, but portions are large and all for sharing - so four dishes between two with rice was more than enough. It would really benefit from visiting with a large group so you can choose a variety of fish and try a bit of everything. As a first time visitor I wasn’t sure how much picking and choosing would be needed, but we were served at our table and given great suggestions for alternatives to those dishes not available on the day due to deliveries. Highlights included the scallops with garlic and vermicelli, as well as the whole fried salt &pepper prawns. Service was fab, booking (by phone) was simple and it was, overall, a great experience I’m looking forward to repeating soon. I would only say the room might have needed a bit of music but, as I mentioned, Live Seafood would be perfect for big groups! If you’re a lover of seafood, prepared with flair, and are happy to make the trip out to a fairly isolated edge of town - it’s entirely possible to walk from the city centre - I’d absolutely recommend this restaurant.

If you desire for good seafood extends beyond the neighbourhood chippy, then the first thing on mind is the fresher the better. Enter the live tank restaurant. Although ubiquitous East of the subcontinent, it’s amazing that Greater Manchester has survived for so long without. While Randall & Aubin, the oyster catcher and other good speciality restaurants offer up decent fair at a premium, they are trumped (no presidential pun intended) by the breath of this restaurant’s offerings. The decor is strictly utilitarian and in these times, the segregation provided by individual rooms means that you can relax in safe surroundings as you gorge on frutas de Mer in the same way as the Walrus and Carpenter. The seafood soup with winter melon was sublime. The brown crab in ginger and garlic was succulent and to my mind, far superior to the subtle flavours of lobster with glass noodles. The slight blemish had to be the scallops with black bean as the underlying scallops were overwhelmed by the flavouring. Live seafood as the name suggests is really the only way to go. Ignore the lack of salubrious surroundings. Accept no substitutes.

Live Seafood has great Fresh Seafood cooked simply. It is far from glamorous, it is a wholesaler with rooms upstairs. Its not a fancy day out. Its hardly cheap either, because good quality fish, crab etc are not. But this expensive meal is so because of the quality of the ingredients. Chinese side dishes are also well made. Service is simple, don't expect airs and graces. On a COVID perspective, the dining in many private rooms, which is great.

I am writing this having just experienced this highly recommended (thanks Jay Rayner) restaurant. First impressions are good as we are shown the tanks of live fish and seafood. We are shown to a private dining room ( normal practice evidently) and told they have only one white wine at £30 and two overpriced cold red wines- all french. We were told there was an off licence next door and for a £5 charge they could get us something more reasonable. We asked for a Sauvignon blanc and paid £18. We later checked and the off licence price was £9.99. All that aside the food was good. If you can stomach being guided to the most expensive food and drink (for that read :what we need to get rid of tonight ) don’t care about atmosphere and think it amusing to be ripped off then this is the place for you!

Visited 3/11/19 with wife and son, as son had been badgering us to go and have a look, having read a review in a major newspaper. This was mainly because of the live sea food you can see swimming in large tanks, The company supply these items to retail outlets, as well as individuals and appeared quite busy. Although very inquisitive, we were made to feel very comfortable by David Zheng, who we found later to be the main guy in theses premises. After finding they offer dining, we returned early afternoon and had a really good experience. By 1.00pm it was getting busy with a lot of Cantonese being present confirming the quality of the food. Luckily, the waitress took time to advise on the menu, because initially you think it is very expensive, but she explained that one portion is enough for two and seriously she is right! The food was brilliant and beautifully presented and truly value for money. We really enjoyed the experience and it was capped off by really clean and excellent toilets, which i feel confirms the owners beliefs regarding the importance of the overall experience/visit. Definitely a recommendation, but do not expect The Claridge setting!

People have commented on the prices and if you're expecting cheap and cheerful it might not be the place for you, but it's definitely not expensive for the range and the quality of seafood offered. Particular standouts are scallops with glass noodles and XO sauce, lobster with ginger and spring onion, Hong Kong-style deep fried whole seabass with sweet and sour sauce, fresh bamboo shoots with pork, eel with black beans... if you're not sure what to order, simply close the menu, go and peruse the tanks of live seafood, and just ask for recommendations!
