Lovely friendly independent cafe based in the church at Frizington. When we went we had booked because it gets packed out by local residents. My friend is local but I was visiting . We ordered tea for two and a lovely big pot with China cups and saucers arrived. More hot water to top up the pot no problem ! My friend had a delicious ( massive) omelette , salad and chips. I had the steak pie ( gorgeous gravy) , vegetables and again the wonderful home made chips ( best ever) . Crumbles or ginger cake with custard for dessert. I just loved the lively atmosphere . So great to see a place thriving in the north west lakes. A real hidden gem.

There’s not many places I would look past the food hygiene rating, but this place comes so highly recommended from everyone I talk too that I was willing to give it a go, and I was not disappointed! Food is beautiful, proper home cooked food, and excellent value! Great with kids too, brought the kids food out first and at a reasonable temperature (most places seem to serve kids food at a billion degrees, resulting in meltdowns waiting for it to cool) all in all bloody beautiful! I can see why it’s popular 😁

Booked an afternoon tea for 8 and 1/2 people. A child seat was provided for the 1/2 a person. The staff were lovely and friendly. We all had a fabulous time. The food was delicious, with good portion sizes and decent fillings. there was a wide variety of things to eat and luckily doggy bags (or boxes in this case) so we could take the extra's home. We all had a thoroughly enjoyable time and I am booking again for 10 for this October.

Visited Lingla Cafe for afternoon tea recently & were absolutely delighted. Couldn't have asked for better our visit turned into a truly amazing feast we were served so much delicious food we had to take boxes of goodies home for later. Everything was 'home made' & the savoury cheese sandwiches were to die for the nicest I have ever tasted anywhere!!! A true gem of a place we will definitely be returning.

Hade a lovely family Sunday dinner to celebrate our uncles 95th birthday. The Sunday lunch was beautiful, the beef was so tender and the veg and mashed potato was creamy. I had the apple crumble and ice cream to finish....It was scrumptious! Top class service very friendly and nothing too much trouble. 100% recommend. Well done Sandra and team.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here, there were plenty of cakes, scones, and four lovely sandwiches with a variety of fillings, staff were realy pleasant and the home made food was very nice, there was a little area within the cafe where you could buy gifts which was lovely. The only down fall was that the cafe was upstairs so not sure if it would be suitable for disabled access

This small and friendly cafe above the church is one of my favourite places. We stop off for a coffee during our walks along the cycle path, and just love the atmosphere. The afternoon teas are very much in demand, requiring a 72 hour pre-booking. The lunches are varied so look out for the chalk board to see the special offers. The cafe also does Sunday lunches, and these too are extremely popular. Beware! if you are dieting, avert your eyes from the wonderful selection of cakes on the counter, all home made.

Best afternoon tea ever. This was a gift from someone, we had never been before. The decor is welcoming as is the lovely lady who served us. After the savouries and scones we thought it was lovely and just the right amount, then she asked if we were ready for the cakes! Everything was fresh and beautifully made. Very good value. We will be going back. All I can say is try it yourselves, you wont be dissapointed.

Excellent afternoon tea. Everything was delicious. All homemade and of a high standard. I particularly enjoyed the Black Forest chocolate cakes filled with cream and black cherry jam but it was all scrumptious. My friends enjoyed the quiche made by the owners mother. The meals being brought out for other customers all looked tasty and everything was well presented. Would certainly return next time I'm visiting the area and I would also highly recommend this quirky little cafe in a church to others . Service with a smile and a friendly atmosphere.

Been to Lingla Cafe several times now and never been disappointed. We've never booked, but the cafe does get really busy, so booking may be advisable. We've had various meals from soup and sandwiches to pie of the day and ham, egg and chips. Each meal has been superb and the homemade soups are divine! (Especially the cream of mushroom). No fault could be found anywhere. Because it does get so busy, the only (slight downside) is a longer than average wait, but worth it when you get your food. However, the staff are fabulous, lovely and attentive and nothing is a problem. Disabled access is via a lift as the cafe is upstairs. Several parties have been having afternoon tea whilst we've been eating and although not having partaken personally, it does look simply magnificent and generously portioned. It is requested you book and pay a small deposit for afternoon tea. The menu is very reasonably priced and worth every penny for the quality of the food you get. If you haven't visited this little gem yet, what are you waiting for! You won't be disappointed.

A few of us met here for lunch. Was lovely, fresh ingredients. We all had a variety of meals from sandwich and soup to burger and chips. The burgers were huge. The lady owner is so lovely always happy and very friendly. I tried one of the homemade chips, they were yummy. You have to go upstairs to get to the cafe, but there is a lift. I would definitely book if your going as it can get very busy at times. There was a table having afternoon tea while we were there it looked devine.

I would highly recommend Moresby Hall. The owners were extremely accommodating and went above and beyond to make our stay as comfortable as possible. I am a wheelchair user so was concerned about the actual accessibility of this grade 1 listed building. However they exceeded our expectations, having a designated, very well thought out, accessible apartment on the ground floor with every possible aid needed. Not only that but it was beautiful and we very much enjoyed our stay. Jane and David the owners were very welcoming, approachable and friendly, and they even made a amendment to the front door as my chair caught on a part of it. Breakfast was really nice, having a great selection to choose from and hot food made to order. One of the best breakfasts I’ve had and it felt much better than the buffet style English breakfast. The weekend went by very fast and I’d have loved to stay longer. Would highly recommend this beautiful hall as you won’t be disappointed.

We came here for Sunday Lunch. It is advisable to book as I don't think they accept walk-ins. The roast dinner (I had chicken) was absolutely amazing, really good. Prices are very reasonable. Nice cosy village pub in the middle of nowhere - make sure you search it out.

Due to lockdown restrictions, Truly Scrumptious has a delivery service, so this was ordered by phone, rather than a visit to the shop. Their cream tea selections are amazing! My sister ordered this for mother's day - and since we haven't seen her since October 2020, she treated me, too! Delivery was within a 2-hour time slot, and arrived in good time. Definitely recommended.

Lovely pub to go for a drink. Only pub close to where we were staying. No food served here. Dog friendly. Closed Monday and Tuesday. Close to request stop railway station. Open 2pm til pub empty. Makes sence. Friendly people.
