Lili's Chinese Restaurant in North Down

Had a carry out tonight. Absolutely dreadful, I've no idea what "meat" I was eating. It had little texture and no taste. Sad because when they were based in Grays Hill the food was good.

Have been here many many times, but a while back we were over charged for food…the price on the menu was correct price but the chef insisted that it was £7 more…we held our grounds and eventually they saw reason and we paid the correct amount…since this we had not gone back as a matter of principle…however we thought as the food is good we would give it another visit….How things have changed…seemed to be that they did not want our custom as each section of meals the wait was extra long…I would understand this if they were busy but on this occasion they were not busy…also instead of a friendly atmosphere we endured Hostile looks and abrupt and food almost thrown into our laps…this is not what anyone should experience,,,especially as it’s not a cheap meal,,,where you go for a family dinner and get treated in this way, doesn’t matter how good the food is, it leaves a sour note in your throat.Also each of the meals had extra chilli added where we found to be overpowering…As I have said we have been here many many times so the staff actually could tell us before we ordered what we usually get…So this complete change of both attitude and meals being overpowering and indeed civility to their patrons who actually keep them afloat in these hard times…We have now chosen never to return to this Chinese restaurant and will look further afield for a better meal in a much better and nicer environment..

Super Chinese food. Expertly cooked and presented. This is a local favourite for us. Staff are very friendly and this is truly a family restaurant.

Absolutely appalling. My curry didn’t taste like curry and was sweet like someone had added sugar to disguise the taste. The chips were almost black like they had been repeatedly reheated in dirty cooking oil. This was beyond horrible. My first and last time buying a takeaway from this place. Avoid avoid avoid!!!!

Touring Northern Ireland, we looked for somewhere to eat with gluten free options, rare to find this in a Chinese because of the soy used! The meal was nice, heavy on onions and quiet greasy, but that may just have been the choices we made. The salt and chilli ribs as a starter were a real hit. The staff were friendly and very attentive. Would eat there again. There is a fixed price for starter and main which is very reasonable!

I have been to Lili's many times with family & friends & once again my visit with a friend (on 19th June around 6.30pm) was a real pleasure. Excellent service, really good food & in short a total pleasure. I just wish they would bring back the 'all you can eat' menu, that was superb value & a total pleasure trying various items on the menu I might never otherwise have tried (the really lovely Topu Chili chicken became a real fav that way). Great restaurant & I (& family & friends) will return many times.

Ordered a takeaway from here this evening - probably the worst Chinese meal I have ever eaten. Ordered salted chilli chicken, honey chilli chicken & salt & chilli chips. The chicken was inedible. Large bits of chicken that were chewy & fatty. Avoid at all costs

Had an incredible dinner with the fam. Fresh seafood, and great quality dishes. Absolutely loved the homemade wines which paired really well with the dishes. Staff were very friendly and hospitable. We’ll definitely be back for more!

Had a takeaway from this establishment this evening, meal for one! Oh my where do u start, prawn crackers chewy, ribs tasteless, satay chicken dry as ur boot, spring rolls complete soggy messs! The main course of sweet and sour as other comments have said just avoid! It really didn’t taste sweet or sour just an under cooked batter covered in what can only describe as a slimy orange sauce! In current climate with everything so expensive I wouldn’t waste ur hard earned cash on this place. Spoke to manager who be fair was pleasant, can add credit note to next order! No chance not risk my health, to be told a trainee was in the fryers what a joke! In future I be landing back with crap served like this.

After the disappointing 1st time of using this Chinese, thought I would give it another go. Apart from having to pay an extra 2.50 for sauce, it was disgusting. I have used a different restaurant for over 30 years and believe me, I do know what sweet and sour sauce should taste like! I rinsed the remaining sauce out and the smell was overwhelming. If you want a decent chinese, use the Marerosa. Never failed to disappoint me after all these years, unlike LiLi.

Absolutely disgusting food, equally disgusting customer service. We ordered a fair amount of food, including 2x barbeque spare ribs, 2x chicken balls and 2x "sweet and sour" sauces. The ribs in BBQ sauce had some weird, sugar sauce. The ones in honey had some hard honey stuck to the bottom of the box, but none on the ribs. Some of the chicken balls were very pink. We didn't want to risk it so we didn't eat all of them. The worst part was the "sweet and sour" sauce. The sauce we received looked like marmalade, and tasted and smelled like oranges. I called LiLi's and was passed on to a man who was very abrupt and not exactly polite. He tried to tell me that "that's how we make our sweet and sour sauce". I asked how "sweet and sour sauce" can taste and smell of oranges. He claimed "our chef makes a big pot of sauce and sometimes he puts too much orange juice in the pot." That's orange sauce. If you put lots orange in your sauce, IT. IS. ORANGE. SAUCE. The man kept insisting that this is their version of "sweet and sour sauce". When I said it was inedible because it tastes and smells awful, he said "I can give you 15% off your next order, or another sauce". Who in their right mind would ever, EVER, order from there again after getting such disgusting food with such disgraceful service. No refund, no consideration that they might be in the wrong, nothing at all to help us get some edible food. One of, if not THE worst chinese restaurants I've ever eaten food from.

Really lovely meal! Sliced fillet of beef could have been doing with a few more pieces of meat tbh, but tasted very good 😊

Food was barely even warm when delivered don’t think I’ll order again.

Food was nearly an hour late. Arrived cold. Had to throw half of it out. Kids weren’t impressed one bit…never mind the adults!

Chicken was stringy strange taste and colour ... Not good at all. Chips cold. We couldn't eat it. Never again !!

Quality is good as always. Only slight disappointment this time around was that we got sent salt and chilli tofu, when had ordered salt and chilli chicken strip. Know the tofu is not to out liking now :)

I have ordered and received many great takeaways from Li Li’s restaurant but sadly, tonight was not great. I was supposed to have gotten ‘tender Fillet Steak Cantonese Style’. I can’t be certain if it was fillet steak but it was very chewy and very pink. I also ordered chicken and sweetcorn soup and it was sooo thick and gooey I couldn’t even touch it. I don’t like giving poor reviews but in this instance it is justified. Eventually I will try and do an order again as it could hopefully be a one off situation.

Food was cold and delivery took a very long time

My favourite Chinese restaurant/takeaway. Wouldn't go anywhere else. Ordered 4 times previous to this and never had a bad meal. Food delicious, piping hot and delivery driver was very pleasant.

The food arrived at 8.45, having been given a delivery time of between 7.50 & 8.10.

Waited almost 3 hours for food to arrive. Understand it’s Saturday night but 3 hours is a bit much. Food was great and restaurant sent a free item with it which was nice of them.

Ordered before 6pm, due to arrive by 19:40. Delivered after 20:30 and no option to cancel and get a refund?? I mean the food is nice but not worth wait!

Delivery was very good but the food was oily and we didn’t eat it . Three meals and only one ( kids chicken and rice ) was edible

The sausages were small thin and over cooked until brown, extremely hard ends and wilted. The chips were cooked more than once, they were actually hollow inside the potato had been cooked so much and they were hard they hurt when bitten. The Salted Chilli Chicken was more black than a golden batter they were so over cooked and stringy and chewy. Odd texture of meat. The Fried Rice was swimming in a greasy oil the rice was a horrible oily texture.

Very disappointed with the quality of food tonight. We had a meal a few weeks ago and it was very nice hence we ordered again but I’m afraid that’s the last time, as it was so poor.

Quarter duck was awful!! The hoisin had sugar granules throughout all of it, couldn’t use it. The duck itself, I almost chipped my teeth because there were lots of small broken bones throughout it. Garlic chips were fine, disappointed.

Took a long time to arrive. Over 2 hour wait. Edible when it eventually arrived. Luke warm at best. Disappointing.

Don’t like writing negative reviews but ordered from here tonight based on some of the good reviews. Was disappointing though. Had chicken curry which was ok but my partner had sweet and sour and chips . Both very soggy particularly the batter on the chicken . Overall for paying £20 plus highly disappointed

The most disgusting meal I have ever had

10 minutes late isn't a lot, but the delivery time was 2 hrs obviously busy Xmas Eve. So in fact I was waiting in total 2hrs 10 the least they could be is on time.

Another delicious meal delivered on time and piping hot. Honey chilli chicken was really tasty, young chow fried rice was perfect.

First time trying, basic chicken and black bean sauce, most of it was mushrooms, (I hate mushrooms and have never had this before in this dish anywhere else or I would have asked without) hardly any chicken and was luke warm even though I'm only down the road, unfortunately will not be trying again

Ordered beef curry, yung chow fried rice and half and half chips and noodles with gravy sauce to serve 2 people. Everything was very tasty. Plenty of beef in the curry, sauce was nice and thick. The fried rice was amazing, best I've tasted in a long time. Complimentary prawn crackers were appreciated. Can't fault this meal at all. Arrived hot and on time and the driver was very pleasant.

Best price and quality in bangor

Food quality was disappointing - while the chicken and sauce tasted great, it had a weird texture. The salted chilli chips were soggy and soft, and was more just soggy chips with salted onions on top. No complaints about the curry half and half - it was quite tasty. Just Eat advised 50-65 minutes which was fine, however our order took 2 hours 15 minutes to arrive from when we ordered. We had to use the "text us an update" prompt in Just Eat before we actually received an update that it was on it's way. It was our first time ordering from LiLis, after hearing good feedback from a friend. Unfortunately I don't think I would order again, and will go back to our usual Chinese takeaway.

Delivery was 90 mins from order time and I live minutes away. No collection available. Food was horrible. Far too salty, bore no resemblance to general Chinese takeaway cuisine and tasted bad. Spent £30 and it all went in the bin. Never again.

Delivery time was fine however the food itself was awful. Chicken was a strange texture. Wouldn’t order from here again.

Last time I’ll ever be ordering from here

Food arrived 50 minutes after my initial arrival time. When the food was being opened, the batter from the salt chilli prawns was soggy & falling away from the prawns, both sets of spring rolls were soggy as well as the chips (which we re-fried ourself). Shocking portion size for the price you pay for both the prawns and Topan chicken. The ribs however were a nice surprise as the batter was sturdy, didn’t fall away from the meat & are worth the money due to their size!

We are from Ballyholme and been trying to find a good Chinese restaurant for a while. We had two carry outs from Lili’s, both were excellent. We are in a few days ago and the standard of food was maintained. I wish I had taken photos, especially of the salted chilli mushrooms (that my wife couldn’t finish or she wouldn’t have managed much of her main course). Simple things like the decorative way some of the vegetables were cut ans the prawn sesame toast having a dip served with it, add to the enjoyment. Staff are very attentive and always smiling. We will be back repeatedly.

Can’t fault delivery as it arrived prompt, although a little disappointed with the portion size and quality of the chips.

The fillet steak pieces with black bean sauce could have used as shields against an arrow attack, 3 of them about the size of which I’ll quote “ off the side of belle mixer” fillet steak?! Stop necking seagulls

I'm not one to complain but food was late my sweet and sour sauce tub was empty my husbands chicken curry was full of grizzle and chips were not good. I didn't get to eat it as had to start work and food came as I was leaving

Great food again, they are back to their best. Demivery on time and food was still hot. Can I also say the delivery driver is the best in Bangor, always on time and so friendly.

1st time trying LiLi's and sadly left disappointed. Delivery arrived early which was great, but the food itself wasn't exactly piping hot. The food itself was in my opinion, of poor quality. Hot and sour soup was sweet and spicy - not sour in any way. It tasted like sweet and sour sauce with stuff added to it. Ironically, the sweet and sour sauce was also lacking the sour element making it overly sweet, which reaffirmed my opinion on the soup as they tasted like the same base. The Peking sauce was watery, and the cheese rolls were not as expected. Any time I have ordered these elsewhere they come stuffed with a cream cheese mixture-these were filled with heavily processed yellow cheese and tasted like cheese strings you might give to kids. The Mongolian beef was overly sweet as well. Not likely to order again if this is the best quality on offer.
