Do not go for Brunch! Although the coffee was v. good, the brunch in terms of taste was nothing special really and the quantity was v. small for 10 pounds plate with no service. It is certainly not good value for money. I understand other reviews on cozy atmosphere but don't expect much.. For example, when we arrived with buggy and looking for a table upstairs or outside, the waitress sitting on table, politely told us "I finish my break in 10 mins or you can grab a chair from inside"!! Instead of offering the table! How polite is that? And when we explained that brunch portions were small she actually said that this was the biggest plate.. Not caring obviously.. Do not believe any photos you see, get there to be disappointed in person.

We were drawn to Layla’s because the reviews looked good but when I say this is the worst breakfast I have ever eaten this is an understatement! We both ordered avo on toast which was served on Tesco white BREAD (not toast) the avo was a mouse sized portion and all in all absolutely shocking. The poached egg was hard in the inside! To top it off, we asked for some ketchup and got looked at like we were monkies.... they don’t do such a thing here. What’s clever about this place is that fact you have to pay for your food before you are served! That was most unsatisfactory £25 spent & im absolutely gutted!

I just go there because I like the good vibes of the local, the service and the cutest spoons they serve next to tea or coffee (cappuccino in my case). Used to love this place as it has a very basic menu they do well, but in the last 4 visits it's been so inconsistent. 1 time the 'cook' had gone home sick (fair enough, someone else should be able to cook) 2nd time it was randomly closed around 10, 3rd time around 12 they had 'stopped serving food,' no explanation given as to why. Finally today they had no eggs, their entire menu is eggs. Really disappointing customer service as they seem so indifferent to the problems and almost react as if it's your problem for looking for food. Worth a try but don't count on getting fed.

We attended Leyas twice, 6 weeks apart. We noticed that the lady at the till had a bad mood, asdasdshe wasn't welcoming in any of her six senses. That wasnsdasdasdt the issue. Here is some points to consider.DRINKS=======I asked for a skinny latte, confirmed it 3 times with her to the point that it was annoying the team, twice in the two times I visited the place. The coffee arrived warm, not hot. How can anyone enjoy a warm coffee, a coffee is meant to be served hot, not warm. It could be that the barista is scared to burn the milk, I told her its fine even if she burns the milk.FOOD======The sandwiches were amazing, outstanding vegetarian rolls and perfectly toasted.Facilities========There is no disabilities access to toilets, the cafe is on three levels, with a small seating area on the ground, and a larger seating in the basement. You have to order your food on the very top floor. The chairs are wooden old/classic and although there are some sofas around, its not comfortable if you plan to use it as a workspace to do some studies/work.Verditct:

All really nicely made with attention to detail and care. The staff are always really friendly and service is always quick. At busy times it can be hard to find a table, but sharing is often the case at Leyas. The atmosphere is so relaxed people don't mind sharing tables. That's what I love most about Leyas, its so relaxing, and its a great place to chill out and escape from every day life. This is partly due to the seating area being down stairs, under street level, so you feel almost hidden from the outside world. I have seen many business meetings take place here, so it provides service for all types of visits. Leyas also showcases local photography work which is really cool. As well as this it has free time out magazines to browse, as well as local papers. If you are choosing a seat, choose the sofa area at the back if it is free - so comfy!I would recommend this café to anyone, it is the best thing about Mornington Crescent. I would say pricing is slightly overprice considering it's in Camden but the flavour of their coffees and homemade cakes.

My friend and I popped in for a quick bite whilst waiting for the barber across the road to open. The Eggs Benedict was a delight and very enjoyable. Served on batch brown toast rather than a muffin, and with some beautifully salty prosciutto ham, the hollandaise was perfect and the eggs poached exceptionally well. A sprinkling of chives was the perfect garnish. I would definitely recommend this dish.Service was quick and efficient, and the ambience was convivial.

Nice coffee shop in Mornington Crescent with a good selection of cakes. The interior is quirky and fresh, the coffee is nice and strong and the service is polite. I have tried their velvet cake and cinnamon bun, they are delicious.

Because I live very nearby, I go to Leya's often when I fancy a non-fryup breakfast. I pretty much always have the eggs avocado, because it's absolutely delicious and consistently great. The coffee is also good, although it suffers from the "independent coffee shop strength syndrome" - it's nice but you can rarely manage more than one. Prices are a bit steep, but then the quality of the food and pastries is definitely in a different league to the rest of Camden. The real drawback for Leya's, and I really wish they would do something about it, is the service. If you arrive when it's not a rush, it's fine. However, if you have the misfortune to arrive with even one other person, it all goes pear shaped. Today I had to go and get my own milk for my coffee, despite asking passing staff 3 times. I also had to ask multiple times for cutlery. I wish I could say it was the first time this happened. Also, there was only one trainee running a till, and they had no idea of what their priorities should be.It just seems that if there's any kind of a queue, they cannot cope at all. It's such a pity, because the food is so great and the service spoils what should be a lovely, lovely experience. Please Leya's, sort it out!

I visited Leyas on the weekend with a friend from France (I wanted to avoid all chains on purpose) and we both really enjoyed it. It was definitely bustling but our Leyas breakfast was delicious! Next time I would add an egg to it but it was certainly filling. The tables could probably be a bit better organised as there was 1 person spread out on a 4 person table and then 3 people crowded around a small 1 or 2 person table as there was no space. I will definitely visit again as the food was divine and the staff were friendly and helpful.

I went to Leyas several times because it is just around the corner from where I live. The coffee is really good and they have several different types of milk (soy, almond, ...). I also had a yoghurt with granola that was very good. They have seating facing the street and seating downstairs with cozy armchairs and sofas, so the atmosphere is very relaxed and nice. The only shortcomings are that the prices are very high and that the wifi sometimes isn't working well.

I have tried to support Leya's visiting every now and then in the dim hope that one day they may, just may get it right. I like to support our local independent eateries over chains, however this place makes it very hard to follow through. They are not cheap, there are other places you can have breakfast or brunch far cheaper and better. Customer's should not have to reiterate that poached eggs must be runny, because guess what owner of Leya, poached eggs are supposed to be runny! Also when one asks for the posher fare at just shy of £8.00, there is an expectation involved, hollandaise is not half a teaspoon per egg, hollandaise should envelop the eggs. Coffee should be hot not lukewarm, and service with a smile instead of sullen and sulky is preferential. I rarely, if ever comment on this type of experience, but anyone walking past Leya's, just keep walking, there are plenty of other places for brekky!

Walked into this place with my fiancé today, and was excited to see they actually had Filtered Coffee. Walked up to the counter to ask the barista about the coffee, and she states this word for word: "If you want a proper American coffee you should try the Americano". I was dumbfounded since Americanos aren't "proper" American coffee - they're just espresso (burnt beans) with water in it. Meanwhile, I just went ahead and ordered the Filtered Coffee, which was a pour-over. It was a bit too fruity for my taste, therefore I think it must be Ethiopian or Kenyan, since they have quite fruity, bitter beans. Meanwhile, I absolutely loved the lounge area, and we grabbed some salads to nosh on whilst sitting and sipping our coffees - it was quite good! Overall, it was a nice little coffee shop, but they should perhaps explain to their baristas what a "proper" American-style coffee is.

Whilst Leyas certainly looks the part for an artisan London coffee house, its food, service, and most vitally, the coffee, can only be described as sub par. I have visited a few times as we live close by and we're lazy, at best, my experiences have been average. I went recently and ordered a cafe latte and a chocolate brownie and was met with the usual curt service. When I sat down to eat I found the brownie to be nothing short of disgusting. It comprised of an extremely oily and salty sludge. I forced myself to eat two more mouthfuls in the hopes it would improve but had to give up and abandon my pursuit. The coffee was drinkable but not particularly enjoyable, it pales in comparison to other cafes in the area!

Leyas is my nearest coffee shop. Living less than a minute away, and being a coffee fanatic, it dawned on me that I haven't been in more than twice in the last year. We went in the other day in the afternoon. It felt like they were closing up, but to the staff's credit they were still friendly and happy to serve us some coffees. We got a couple of flat whites for the first time in a long time, and then I remembered why it had been so long. Clearly poorly extracted shots, served with dollops of burnt milk with no attempt at a pattern or even appetizing presentation. But fine, maybe they were having a bad day. They have Assembly coffee around the place, and seemingly scrapped using Union long ago enough that they're considered 'serious' about their coffee. We went in for a meeting the other day and the same quality problems came out with the coffee, except eating in seems to make it take 15minutes. You seriously order your coffee, go and take a seat, and wait a considerable amount of time for your drink. Nothing on order before us. It's a problem that has been there from the opening and if it still hasn't gone it's just a trademark. The decor of this place is fantastic, and it's great to duck in off the bustling high street. The upper deck style is always strangely comforting, and the trimmings like mint water and cafe del mar esque playlists make it fit for any purpose. The staff are genuinely always friendly and I'd even say the blue haired girl who served us gave amazing service. The food is yummy. But then all of this applies to the local Costa or Starbucks, and it isn't enough.

If you walk away from the main bit of Camden towards Mornington Crescent this little gem can be found. Brilliant coffee and salads. My favourite is the peach and parma ham one. Their baguettes are lovely too. For some reason I always think it is a little expensive, which I think may be unfair.

I have been to Leyas twice now and have received excellent customer service both times. The food has also been delicious both times, and even though I visited when the shop was quite busy, I received my flat white very quickly. It was one of the best I've ever had. Thank you, and I will definitely be coming back!

I visited a costa coffee store today with my dog just to get some food. As I walked in the "manager" was looking me up and down. I selected some food from their cabinet. I was then walking to pay. The manager says will you be eating here and stared at my dog. I asked why and she carried on looking at the dog. I put the items down and walked towards the door. She said it is our policy and it says so on the door. She then walked me to the door that only had the opening times with no policy. Oh we took it down when the window was cleaned today. I said how was I supposed to know. The way I was treated made me very upset. It is not my fault that there was no sign. Why should I be treated in such a way. Work men with dirty construction clothes can sit in but not me (suited and booted) with an exceptionally well behaved dog on a lead. Their loss and I will be sure that I let people know about how you get treated.
