Rank food, avoid. EDITED... The batter was so dry and hard, the fish seemed very oily and the chips were more like undercooked slivers, all in all it wasnt eaten. Maybe just a bad batch..

Superb food! Rare my partner and I would finish a fish and chips takeaway but this was not only fantastic quality but also perfect portion sizes. Fast service too

We thought might give them a try. Such a shame when the staff underestimates the customers. Disappointed. The fish was dry and overcooked (burnt) the chips were raw inside and burnt on the outside. Maybe because I’m not a regular. Maybe that’s why I’m not a regular. Shame

Usually really good, but just ordered a large cheesy chips, so for an extra £1.50 you would expect a fair amount of cheese right? Wrong. I’ve received a small layer of cheese, but annoyed to say the least,

Ordered sausage and chips. Definitely warmed up from lunch. Couldn't eat them. Tasted and smelled so greasy. The smell still lingering. I can't give any stars. Sorry

Bought pie and chips from here this evening after standing in a queue but I’m guessing it was because the other chip shop in the High street was closed at 5:45 ish.The bottom of the pie was rock hard as if it had been heated up before. The chips were nothing special either. As I was only passing through the area, I could not be bothered to return to complain but as you only get one first impression, I wouldn’t recommend.

I am an occasional visitor to Hadleigh and have haddock and chips at Lenny’s twice. The second was yesterday and they were just as good as the first so it was no flash in the pan, boom boom. It doesn’t seem to get the trade Grays up the road does but it’s hard to believe it’s any better. The portions are good, the fish and chips well cooked and the menu has what you would expect as well as interesting items, including a Beano box for kids. The place is spotless. I will return.

Shop was really clean, excellent service. Lovely chips. Fish and sausage was nice and the batter was good, could be crispier. Cheesy chilly bites were delicious. Will visit again.

I have to be honest and say this was not my first choice for fish and chips. We are on holiday and I stupidly left my wallet at home. First choice only takes cash but Lenny’s accepts Apple Pay. Our cod, haddock and chips were all freshly cooked by friendly helpful staff. The portion size (large) was excellent and everything was well cooked. The chips were not at all greasy and were the best I have tasted for a long time. So pleased I found this place and will be my first choice if I am ever in the area again.

For a special treat both myself, hubby and son decided to pop into Lenny's. Our order included a medium cod and 2 large rock eel. The cod was extremely small and the batter was dark brown and overcooked. I shared my horror and refused to accept it and it was placed in the bin. Another piece was taken from the cabinet and plonked into the box. Whilst the remainder of our order was being fulfilled I do believe that the owner or a manager was drawn to quietly speaking with a member of the staff about our problem and didn't seem to show any concern for our situation in the slightest with a total disregard for our custom which was quite unbelievable. I must share that when eating our family meal together we all commented on the batter being overcooked which gave it a very strong unpleasant taste which lacked that wonderful soft crispy texture that we all love. We all failed to finish our meal and felt collectively that had the batter been better then it would have made our meal more enjoyable. The website does share; We are committed to providing quality Fish & Chips...Very sadly, we didn't experience the quality that they speak of and our collective experience was a very unpleasant one at a cost just short of £30.

My first visit back since 2001, food was cooked to order. Served in card boxes. Service was polite and efficient. Really enjoyed my large chips and medium cod.

Was my favorite chippy but now they never have staek and kidney pie and there sausage in batter is dry and hard its a shame

This is the worst chip shop I have ever eaten from everything was reheated and rock hard The chips were disgusting and little bits I have never seen anything like it before I complained to the manager and he blamed the two young people working in there saying he never severed me I replied that he’s is responsible for the standard of the food not two 16yr olds Even my dogs won’t eat anything A total wast of money Never again !!!!

Tried a few local places for food and only found Lenny's after seeing recommendations on Facebook, just lovely fish and chips, we have found our new favourite takeaway, can't recommend you enough, lovely food.

Was staying in a cottage nearby for a weekend went to Lennys for a simple meal for everyone 2 burgers were left out so had to return to shop to collect, but even though they were freshly cooked it was dry we also ordered chicken on the bone, but that was dry aswell wouldn't recommend and wouldn't return.

The takeaway fish and chips were excellent-lovely fresh fish and really crispy batter-perfect! You can book online, but have to pay extra to do this, so my husband just went and picked them up and didn't have to wait long at all.

I've never eaten at Lennie chip shop in my home town, they were OK but some seem to be a little hard not cooked through. Otherwise the rest was OK. A very clean shop and nice customer service.

The worst fish n chips I've ever had!!! Gave 1 star only because I couldn't give lower.. Ive never gave a bad review ever but omg I couldn't say anything good.. I would recomend to never eat here ever, sorry but it was disgusting!

The fish and chips were ok, I can't say more than that as I have had much better.

The food is good but the portion sizes leave us feeling hungry still and a bit pricey. Don't mind paying the amount but a few more chips are only the price for another potato!

I have visited this chippie many times in the past and have enjoyed their fish and chips. There seems to be a change over in staff and I must admit that this meal was not enjoyed at all. The chips were freshly cooked but the batter on the cod was as soggy as anything and I had to throw it away.

Called in at lunch time today and was served by a pleasant young lady. I asked for cod and chips twice and was charged £15.20. It was hot and tasty but the two pieces of fish at £6 each were classed as large, however they were very slim, barely 1” wide. We have had a large fish at takeaways elsewhere on many occasions and they have always been an awful lot bigger so felt it was not good value for the money.

Regular customers. Always fresh, good prices, staff friendly. Would highly recommend. Nothing to much trouble.

Had to leave a review after reading the very unfair comments left by someone else recently, we have tried all 3 fish & chip shops in Hadleigh in the past and for us Lenny's is by far and away the best and the only place we get our fish and chips. The food is always cooked fresh, properly and tastes as good as you could wish for. My wife is usually the one that goes into get the food and she says the staff are always friendly. Nice one Lenny's!!

We ordered 3 meals for 3 adults, 1 LARGE Rock Eel, 1 Medium Cod and 1 Medium Haddock. The Rock Eel was just short of small, the Haddock and Cod was just like a fish finger!! seriously, go up the road to the other better chipshop. We were served by 2 Juvenile infants who had no clue and was a sketch straight out of Laural & Hardy.

Arrived without prior booking on a Friday evening but staff were friendly and food still served after only a shot wait. Small shop so some had to wait outside in the rain

I feel that I have been ignored for one hour!!! yes my order was not the biggest. Only being 3 cod and large chips. And these are trying times with civid-19 but I do not expect to still be waiting after the newer people that have just placed their order after me to be collecting their’s first! There is not system of order cook and collect as mine was clearly just left to one side!!! Barbaric Added: the people that ordered after me were also walk-ins just like me.

Only ordered small cod & Medium chips Not bad but very small portion of chips. I will stick to the usual chippy next time.

Best fish and chips in Hadleigh and surrounding area's. They also do an awesome battered sausage here. Prices are average, quality of ingredients is good and quantity is great aswell. To top it off the customer service is brilliant.

Literally the smallest portion of chips EVER! Ordered a medium chips and sausage and a large chips. The result was small portions of dry chips. Hadleigh has much better takeaways!

Amazing meal. Cooked fresh to order. Light and crispy batter on lovely chunky, white cod. Generous portions with enough chips to go round 4 people with some to spare.

As a Brummy by birth, I value good fish and chips and Lenny's in Hadleigh never fails to deliver a DELICIOUS meal. My kids love their chicken nuggets as they're proper chicken pieces and I love their cod. Their chips are just as chippy chips should be and I know that Tom Prior, who owns and runs Lenny's, also uses healthy fats for his deep frying. As an online health and fitness coach, it helps me to not feel too guilty when I go for my fish and chip treat meal! I can highly recommend their service, their friendliness, their cleanliness and the quality of their ingredients. Now I'm feeling hungry ....!

Called in last night with my biker mates and the chips were honestly the best of ever eaten, every single one crispy and tasty, can't wait to go back and try the fish now.

Loved the Cod and Chips I put salt and vinegar on the Chips which were real potatoes chips and that unique classic taste only can get with real potatoe chips and fresh Cod, I ordered small as I can never complete a whole large portion and end up throwing away rest after I'm full so the size was perfect for me I got to complete the such without to throw away as I hate throwing food away, I also ordered a pickled onion for 60P which came in a neat cute clear box, whole thing came to £4:50 which was a bargain considering real Cod and Chips. On the whole I was satisfied and the staff were very nice and friendly. LOVED IT.

Both Cod and Chip portion sizes very small. Try going to Riverside in Manningtree to see what the portion size should be for the same cost. I was surprised the card machine asked me to leave a tip. Well cooked though.

Fish was delicious. Well cooked and tasty. But chips were absolutely diabolical. They were cold, hard and crispy bits & pieces. Not at all like conventional chip shop chips. Very disappointing

Looked on the web as we were going to Hadliegh to shop. Thought we would have some good fish&chips. What a disappointment. Soggy chip, look like yesterdays and 2 piece of fish, had better fish finger. Politeness. well if you could get a word out of the man you would be lucky know wonder they want staff. Want to try a perfect battered cod together with crispy chips...?? Then go to Lenny's. Without doubt one of the best friers in the UK and believe me I've tried a few. The batter is light and delicate, whilst the chips are the colour of deep gold with a crispy bite. Good value for all the family.

My order was wrong after telling the girl who served me exactly what I wanted three times. When I tried to phone to get it corrected, there was no answer. I assumed it was because they were busy. (Friday night) When I asked for two cheeseburgers, both with chips (stating that I wanted chips with them both three times), I still received no chips. And when I asked for a LARGE battered sausage, I received a piddly thing that wouldn't fill a child up. When I took to Facebook to complain, I was publicly humiliated by the owner.

We have a fish and chip shop just at the end of my road yet I always drive straight past and go to lennys. Great food. Great people. I have never had a bad meal from here always cooked to perfection and a great variety.

We got 2 extra large fish & large chips and a normal fish & chips & to be honest they all looked the same NORMAL bordering on small I also got 2 battered sausage and chips for the boys and the size of there chips were bigger at least there's filled there little tray curry sauce was very watered down I always like it to stick to chips etc not run away from them I find Chinese curry sauce muck better. But that said the food was cooked great batter was as it should be..but hay up up size it can't cost that much more to give a fair helping can it after all you will get a lot more return trade that way.

There fish and chips are ok but sometimes there chips taste like they have been reheated it's not the best around but it's ok if you wanna grab something quick to eat providing they have it cooked as sometimes you have to wait for 10 mins or so when it's supposed to fast food!!!!

I have been eating here for a while for obvious reasons. It's the best quality food around. The service is always great and they're more than willing to cook you a fresh piece of fish or anything else!

Easy parking is the best thing you can say about this Fish and Chip shop. Stopped going there as there is a much better one not too far away.
