Stall at Hither Green festival, 9 quid for cold fries and slightly warm chicken burger, you’re having a laugh mate. Rubbish, get your act together

Helpful friendly staff prior to visit with enquires on whether dogs allowed and making a booking. Decor nice and modern but cosy, staff still friendly and quick to serve. Had roast lamb and puddings, all amazing and didn’t have to wait long. Would definitely return!

Surprisingly good in this place on a main road of Hither green. We went for easter Sunday and the offered menu was chicken lamb beef and duck roast among all other!! Impressive and good portion. Tender and great taste. A lot of variety on the veggies. And for dessert something never seen. An Eton mess! The cocktails too are done great.

We just stopped by for a roast dinner as we couldn't be bothered to cook and the roast was delicious! Beef and chicken were both wonderfully cooked and those roast potatoes were perfection. Such great value for money and lovely staff too.

Went with friends to Caribbean Wednesday. I had the chicken wings followed by jerk chicken which was excellent, but all the food was delicious and well presented. Will definitely be returning.

We went here for Sunday lunch with friends after reading positive reviews on Facebook but were sadly disappointed. We were the only people there except for one other couple so lacking atmosphere. Most of the food was pretty average with the exception of the kids pasta meal which was pretty poor (it was supposed to be penne pasta but was actually macaroni with a tomato based sauce and a crumbling of strange cheese on top). The burgers looked ok so maybe it’s better during the week but not for Sunday lunch. Overall disappointing.

21/12/21 This is written two months after the event, only aided by photos as memory joggers. I am in self isolation so catching up! I am a middle aged local guy whose friend had organised a birthday lunch gathering for eight at his new local restaurant across from his house on a Tuesday. I was expecting a delivery for 12 that eventually showed up at 2 (I got the postage refunded!), keeping my friends informed so they started without me at 1 as planned. I eventually got there by bicycle at 2:30! I found a largish space with a long table with the group on by the door. Only one other couple were there. Apparently there was confusion (on my friend's side) over the booking so we were not expected at all which had knock-on effects. I took my seat by the door to find that was not the best seat as the door was opened by delivery couriers going in and out and they are renowned for not closing doors behind them! I got progressively colder during the meal. As everyone had finished their first courses I could hardly reorganise the room despite its being nearly empty otherwise (I have done this elsewhere as I am not allowed to get cold after my stroke in 2003 - sticky blood, don't ask...) . I made it very clear to all that I was paying for my own food and drink and not getting involve in 'sharing' the bill as I was already a starter and drink down. I let the waiter now too. I've paid over the odds before as people leave early putting inadequate funds down to cover themselves and the service. The waiter was jolly and coped with yet another unexpected guest. I had already checked out the menu online and as a (cold) pescatarian I thought I would try the curry as it was Indian Tuesday. I confirmed with the waiter that they had an Indian chef in that day. I chose a local Brockley Brewery beer (£5 only, brewed in the Chiltonian Estate in Lee nearby) and the Coromandel Coast (Fish) Madras (£16.35). Having been to Chennai and through Tamil Nadu a couple of years before I had an inkling of the cuisine! From what I can remember the food came in good time and was very good. The fish was tasty and cooked perfectly with fresh herbs and spices. A flavoursome rice and salad accompanying it, all in separate Balti dishes. It was certainly better that JDW (which is not bad)! All the other guests seemed to like their meals too, albeit being served higgledy piggledy as the group was not expected. Another separate couple entered to dine. We eight had doubled their sit down diners that lunch. They had deliveries as I have mentioned though to keep the new business going. By the end of my main I had caught up. I decided to order a desert as others were too, but still in my own bubble. I chose a Banoffee Pie at £5.25. That came quickly and was presented as a (made in a) rammakin sized squat column with a sprig of fresh mint on and was very tasty indeed and not too sweet. I had a sample of my friend's Eton Mess which was also good, although it was a bit of a mess as the waiter must have dropped it on the way ;-); the five second rule was obviously in place! When we had all finished the various deserts, shots and coffees I ordered my bill from the waiter direct, reminding him of my being separate. It came before the main bill, thankfully. As predicted mine was just under £30 which seems standard for two courses and a drink, with 12.5% service included as specified in the menu. I duly paid up by cash at about 4pm. The group was having issues about the sharing - one had left earlier - so I was glad to be out of it. We all left around 4:10 generally happy and sated. A nice experience although I was quite cold in that corner by the door. My friends obviously like it as an addition to their local cuisine (Fera nearby is another favourite as well as Le Delice) and I'm sure it gets busier at peak times so the atmosphere is better. One thing to note though is that along with many modern restaurants the space is a bit echoey. More diners would have helped but the wood panelled walls could do with some hangings or pictures to disrupt the noise. My friend beside me has lost the use of one ear completely and basically had little to say or hear as it was hard work for all. My partner, with a similar issue, stayed at home in fear of this and would definitely not have liked this problem. Having said this this is a great addition to the local scene and can be seen as another step to gentrifying the otherwise quite tatty parade. They have worked hard to improve the dining experience, especially as it opened through Covid, by extending a marquee over their curtilage. They also have given free food to needy people in Covid times which is commendable and our paying (ultimately we can afford it) a little bit more to help others is the least we can do. Full marks for everything including coping with eight unexpected guests! Well worth going to. I cannot believe it has only five reviews so far, all under five reviews per person. I'm wading in here to jack it up a few places as it deserves, if the algorithms take into account my 600+ reviews and 8000+ contributions!

Taking the immensely brave step of opening in the middle of a pandemic, this bar/restaurant is just four months old. At any time, opening a restaurant is a risk - but in the middle of a pandemic, it's madness. But this is a madness that should pay off. The design of the place means it works well as a bistro and a pub. It's not big, but the way in which has been designed means that you can go for an intimate dinner for two or you can take whole family or you can stop by for a pint after work. Whoever designed this was a very clever thinker, The food is good - I defy you to go away hungry, You're not getting five-star Michelin, but that's not what you're paying for. Instead, you get good, wholesome, well-cooked food that's value for money. And, talking of value for money, the beers are excellent value. There are only three beers on the pump, but they're local (Brockley Breweries) and at a price varying between £5 and £5.50, you're getting a cheaper, fresher product than most pubs and restaurants in a pretty large geographical area. That said, the wines are expensive. Whoever chose the wines has great taste, but they need to turn their talents to finding high-quality house wines that are more affordable, Service is OK. The servers have oodles of charm - charm to spare. But they need more knowledge about what they're serving and the confidence to be as good as they clearly are. Once they understand that, people are going to flock to the place to flirt with the waiters and waitresses. BASIC SUMMARY: This is a great, value-for-money place that deserves your custom.

We didn’t have anything in the fridge, it was hot and we didn’t want to get a takeaway. After lockdown my kids aren’t used to going out, so we were excited to visit a new local place that had just opened hoping that it would just be ok. What we found was so brilliant, the staff, the ambience - the other clientele were so fun with my kids we had a great time. I had a special Caribbean dish of red mullet - oh my gosh it was gorgeous. Kids enjoyed their dinner so much, they had burgers and fries how they like them. Super to have something so friendly and welcoming in my local neighbourhood, will be making a weekly trip.

At time of writing this is the new kid on the Hither Green dining scene. We came to watch a lot of the Euros, so ate and drank. They’re so friendly here. Tried burgers, steak, pasta and fish here. All outstanding. Couldn’t recommend more. It’s now a weekly ritual.

The chicken curry with pilau rice was probably the worst I have ever eaten. Rice under cooked, the chicken over cooked and the blandest spicing I have ever experienced. My partner had the same issue s, Roti had a very small amount of dahl in it. I really would not recommend this establishment for a takeaway.

We had a lovely dinner at this small and friendly restaurant. A great place for steaks, but also interesting starters and home-made desserts. Our waiter Louis was very friendly, attentive and helpful. We will definitely return.

On the 26.09.21 i was inside the club for little over a hour and asked for permission to leave which was authorised by one of the security team as I came back another security worker who was black and short in height with a low fade haircut approached my friend from behind around the neck area, and manhandled her and dragged her cup out of her hand with no verbal communication, that something was wrong I was absolutely shocked. I have never seen such a horrid action take place in such a way. I was speechless initially he then turned his attention to me shouting I’m no longer getting inside the club and as I tried to understand why and under what grounds he continued to go back and forth with no explanation as to why however bragging about his “£50k salary” and that I should put “£50k food on the the table for his kids” The verbal abuse and embarrassment was completely uncalled for and out of order. So unprofessional and disgusting behaviour. I don’t usually write reviews however I just want to give the heads up for the next female target he may choose at the Interludee Cocktail Bar.
