Next to Leicester sq exit, the place is always busy with people in and out. The menu has improved over the last couple of years. We ordered a seafood fried noodles and a veg spring roll. The food was pipping hot. Service was fine and fairly quick, be prepared to sit next to strangers when eating upstairs. There are additional seating downstairs and outside too...

An address to which we come for the cuisine and not the setting. Coming out of a musical, we looked for restaurants that were still open late and decided to come to Lanzhou Lamian Noodle Bar. On arrival it's a bit confusing in front: there are a lot of people scattered around (between those waiting to be seated, those waiting in line, those who have nothing to do there, etc.). We don't really understand where to queue but we find our way relatively quickly. Despite the crowd in front, the servers are super efficient and we were seated very quickly. Inside, everything goes very quickly, it's a bit like a factory. We are given a menu with perhaps more than fifty dishes, with different types of noodles and cooking. We feel we have to hurry so we choose a little at random; fried pork and chives dumplings, “Fried” Lamian noodles with char siu, “Dry” cut noodles with char siu. The dishes arrive not even 5 minutes after the order. The ravioli are really very good, the stuffing is very generous and we don't miss the chives. The noodles are meaty and made in front of us. The char siu is really very good when you come across pieces with fat (one of the best I have eaten), but very dry when this is not the case; a bit of a shame, we feel that it was cooked too long and at too high a temperature. Vegetables are anecdotal and in very small quantities. Overall it's a very good meal, but the service (efficient but urgent and not warm) and the setting (old, small, not necessarily super clean) bring the rating down. However, I am not giving it 3 stars because that would be a bit harsh. In terms of prices, count on £8 for ravioli, £12 for a noodle dish, £1 for water and 10% more for service. It's very reasonable. In summary? A nice address that stays open very late and will therefore be able to welcome you whatever the time. A victim of its success, it's very busy and a bit factory, but the food is good. Ordering take-out may be a good solution.

We went to this place for dinner and we're placed at a table in the basement. It had the feeling of a fast food restaurant, very bright and noisy, not very comfortable, which is generally okay. However, the service was terrible. Everything was rushed, once my friends were done eating they were sent upstairs to pay and the table was cleaned while they were still seated, all while I was still in the bathroom. Considering the fact that you have to pay a 10% service fee that is unacceptable. Furthermore, my request to get noodles instead of rice with my desired dish was denied, which left me with a meal that I didn't actually want - no flexibility. My meal was obviously ready-made and the sauce tasted exactly the same as one of the other dishes. When wanting to pay they were not able to even give us a receipt. Instead they circled every dish we had on the menu and upped the price. According to them, they haven't updated their menu yet (I've read a similar thing in the reviews online from 9months ago). Overall would not recommend as it left us stressed and disappointed.

The prices in England, or rather London, are murderous. In particular, since you can't just starve, you have to buy and eat food, and the cost of this food is also high. The problem is that these foods are not delicious. It's not that it doesn't taste good, but it's bland. Whether it's bread, fried, or salty. As a result, Koreans cannot help but miss the soup in these food combinations. The atmosphere here is one you won't want to go to. They don't seem to care about hygiene at all and the service is terrible as they don't even provide water until you ask for it. Additionally, the seating is so small that you have to eat almost back to back with the person behind you. Fortunately, the beef noodle soup I ordered was very satisfying. First of all, the soup is thicker than expected, so you can fully taste the beef. Moreover, (I'm not sure if it's value for money considering the price), they put so much meat in it that it's literally chewy. The amount of noodles was considerable and they were cooked quite well. It holds the soup well and is salty and delicious. When I feel a little tired of the soup, I add a little bit of spicy sauce and it feels like the alcohol I drank the day before yesterday has sobered up or the greasy food has disappeared.

Lanzhou Lamian Noodle Bar is one of those rare gems in London that you almost don't want to tell anyone about, just to keep it your little secret. Tucked away in an unassuming corner, this tiny restaurant delivers an authentic experience that transports you straight to the heart of China. The handmade noodles are the star of the show, crafted with a skill and precision that’s mesmerizing to watch. The texture is perfect—chewy, springy, and cooked to absolute perfection. Each bowl is a work of art, brimming with rich, flavorful broth, tender meats, and fresh herbs that create a symphony of tastes. The ambiance is as genuine as the food—small, bustling, and full of character. The simplicity of the decor only adds to its charm, making you feel like you've stumbled upon something truly special. It’s the kind of place that locals cherish and food enthusiasts dream of discovering. But here’s the thing: while I’m sharing this with you, part of me wishes I could keep this spot all to myself. It’s that good. If you do decide to visit, just remember—it’s a place worth savoring quietly.

Good place to sample handmade noodles, either in savoury soups or fried. You can actually watch the pulling and stretching of the noodles by hand. A word of caution - be prepared to share tables with strangers. Staff can be loud in their thick Mandarin accent. You will also be startled by a loud bang - the noodle maker is smashing the big noodle dough onto the table. All these add to an authentic chinese restaurant experience. Please don't ask for a fork to twirl your noodles with ; it's like asking for a pair of chopsticks in an Italian restaurant ! Value for money. Servings are big. I would recommend the sour & spicy La Mian noodles and fried dumplings

吃饱了🤰🤤🫠🥴Reasonably priced and the food portions are huge! Halal. My friend and I ordered the Stewed Beef Noodle Soup. She ordered very thin noodles, while I ordered flat ones. It all came down to £12 each. The pictures don't do the bowl sizes justice. The bowls were really large and we were struggling so much to finish 😅 but it was absolutely delicious! Personally, I would just get one bowl to share with a friend next time because it was so much for me. The broth and beef (before adding chilli oil) had a subtle creamy, nutritious and clean taste to them. I've had lamian in London before and this is probably the top when it comes down to authenticity and portion size. The tables, the layout of the condiments and utensils, the view of the talented chefs hand-pulling the noodles with immaculate skill and strength, just the whole atmosphere took me back to the liveliness and cosiness of restaurants in Asia. The food also arrived extremely fast, which further amplified the chefs's expertise. This is honestly one of the best places to go for comfort food. There were a lot of customers who also came to eat alone, the atmosphere is great for coming with friends as well as grabbing a bowl just for yourself. I loved the way people were comfortable enough to just pick up their bowls and drink the soup! I think introverts could come here for solo eating as the tables are arranged in the corner of all the bustling. Nevertheless, you may need to share the table with strangers as they are those long tables with one long bench on either side, but everyone seems to just mind their own business and enjoy the food and it's an overall friendly atmosphere. They also have seating downstairs and outside! The air is filled with chatter and the sounds of the chefs working on their craft so there's no room for awkward silences at all, you can just enjoy your food without having to think of the next line to a conversation. You also don't have to worry about where to look as an introvert, you can simply just look at the chefs cooking haha! I highly recommend this place!

This restaurant and the experience is a 5/5 IF you can sit outside and IF you get the noodles in the sour spicy soup. ……. They were good before, cheap (£9)and quick, and the portion was really good. Now, 12 pounds, less meat and less noodle, bad service. I would rather go to kungfu noodle now, because it's the same price with more noodle and fresh beef. Just look at the picture, one piece of veg 4 pieces of frozen beef brisket. It used to be very good, cheap, delicious and big. The price-performance ratio was really good before. Now the meat noodles are less and there is a service charge. I would rather go to Lanzhou. One bench can fit 3 people, which I think is pretty good. It has the atmosphere of some places in China. But when the waiter came up, he asked you two to squeeze in so that the third person could sit. There is no politeness or politeness, only toughness. On the other hand, you greet foreigners with a smile, and foreigners can sit on a long bench for two people. This difference feels wrong. Catering requires both food quality and service attitude. Amazing food but the rest not so great We got the noodles which were delicious and the portions were very big however the seating was quite unpleasant, there was a wardrobe behind us and employees kept squeezing between us and the other table lifting bags above our heads The worst part however was the hallway to the toilet which was also close to the kitchen, in said hallway an employee was crushing garlic with a hammer right on the floor (where people passed to the toilet) and also used his foot to hold the mesh bag in place. I’m not that easily turned off but if it was any other person I’m sure this would’ve led to a 1* review Lastly they offer no receipts so when they told us the price it seemed a bit high but we had places to be and I couldn’t be bothered to argue

We had the special house fried rice, noodles with vegetables, and spring rolls the first time (the spring rolls are wonderfully massive!) The second time, we had pickled vegetable and egg la-mian noodle soup and it was SO good, so hearty and filling. I've noticed that some reviews complained about the lack of sitting room and being seated with random strangers at the same table but I found it fun and part of the experience. Best late night noodle bar. Authentic hole in the wall in the midst of Soho. Best for a night of drinks at any of the options in Central London and then come here for a sumptuous dinner. The ramen and pepper chilly chicken were noteworthy.

Very disappointed with my experience at Lanzhou Lamian Noodle Bar! The taste is far from authentic Lanzhou noodles, which was a huge letdown. Additionally, the space inside is incredibly cramped and the prices are unreasonable. I do not recommend this place at all!

I had the lanzhou beef noodle soup which was great and fairly priced. Not a place to visit for the ambience but I was still very comfortable eating in a small space next to strangers.

Authentic Chinese noodles. Upstairs you can watch the master make fresh noodles. Portions are very generous. My favourites are beef noodle soup and zhajiang (beef mince) noodles. I've been here many times and will go many times more. Best Chinese noodles in London.

Thick flat noodles beef stew soup. Possibly the best noodles dish in central London. They've been there for years, and they do everything right. Highly recommended for a quick, delicious bite.

Noodles were delicious and portion was big. Their skewers were very nice, just a bit small.

Amazing noodles, and absolutely huge portions! Stopped by for a quick lunch before a matinée. A really small venue, and can be a bit cramped, but honestly I think that's part of the joy. Staff are super lovely - will definitely be back!

It's good because it's not expensive compared to London prices and the quantity is large, but I'm not sure if it's as delicious as before. And not just once or twice if you make a mistake in calculating, but you purposely get more every time you go. Be sure to calculate the money before calculating.

I ordered a thin noodle soup, but it didn't look that thin. The noodles are served on the spot, which is generally good. The environment is a bit crowded, but otherwise everything is good.

Legit, good beef noodles. It has plenty of meat and enough vegetables with it, the noodles are thick, and all handmade and fresh. Service is fast, and they provide English translation on menu. They also accept card payment which is a plus. The beef is so soft and flaky, almost melts in your mouth. I felt like I was in Hong kong, sharing the tables with strangers. The place is cramped but I loved the dining feel. This is no frills restaurant, not a huge high end places but expect that the food will be really good, almost feeling like eating at home. If you are coming in as a group, it will be difficult to sit you down. Otherwise, this will be my go to Chinese noodle place in London now.

We had the "fresh hand-pulled" noodle soup and unfortunately got horrendous food poisoning after! We came early, right as they opened, and the theory is that they might have served dumplings from the day before, which is simply delightful as I have spent a few days downing pain meds on the toilet! Food tasted alright and I've been a regular but this was honestly my last straw like I will pass on the £9 noodles if it means I get to function normally, some of us have to get an education, preferably not from the confines of my toilet :)

It's good to eat hot soup when you're tired of Western food. I recommend Dosakmyeon with sliced beef or stew. The spring rolls come in large pieces and are great to eat as a side. Don't expect much from hygiene or kindness.
