I'd not been to Lanthong for a few years (since when I used to live in Chelmsford) and my daughters took me for a meal there a few weeks ago. I was pleased to find that the service, food and friendliness of the staff were as amazing as ever. It was the first time my daughters and they thoroughly enjoyed everything (including the decor) and will both will be returning. Red Snapper is still my dish of choice.

We were new to this lovely restaurant, upon arrival the staff were friendly, there was a nice atmosphere. The traditional food that came out of that kitchen was delicious! Everything we ordered was so good, the Tom Yum Prawn Soup was absolutely spot on.

Second visit, just as good as the first. 9 of us all loved it and will be back.

Beautiful food and lovely staff. My only two concerns were that, firstly, we were initially shown to a table for two positioned so we were facing the wall with very little room between potted plants and my chair. Not very feng shui! Secondly, my partner and I would have liked ONE glass of wine with our meal, but only two/three choices were offered by the glass on the drinks menu with 90% of the wine list being by the bottle, not ideal when we are driving, so we ended up having Coca Cola instead. I think this is a restaurant aimed at a group clientele rather than couples (hence selling bottles of wine), so we will go elsewhere next time.

Visited this restaurant at lunch time as appeared to have good reviews. It was empty, the lady who greeted us was very polite. The food was disappointing, we both ordered pad Thai, it was extremely greasy and I couldn’t eat it. Would not return to this restaurant.

We love this place, we're still surprised by how long it took us to discover this gem. Dave is great front of house. The mixed starters are definitely a must. We are never disappointed with our choices or the excellent service.

Visited this tiny little Thai restaurant for lunch today and absolutely loved it. I went by myself and it was so peaceful, tranquil and so comfortable. There was just one person serving and she was lovely. The food was outstanding and so full of flavour, I was pretty mind blown just by how flavourful it was.. and by how well portioned it was! You really get your money’s worth. I am incredibly grateful for my experience here.. what a fantastic little place!

This restaurant, I'll admit, on first impressions from outside the restaurant, I wasn't too confident in the taste and quality of food given how dated the restaurant looks on first impression, but don't let it distract you from the Thai food experience you'll have at this hidden gem in Chelmsford. Homemade Thai food is something that hits different. Even the sauces were homemade - and it shows! The quality is high and no corners are cut in the taste, presentation, love and care given to every dish that we were presented with. I highly recommend this family run restaurant, and I will certainly be visiting again in the very near future.

They kindly made room for us to eat before going to the cinema. Service was excellent, food was lovely and prices reasonable. Great atmosphere. Will be back for sure

Utterly fantastic Thai restaurant in Chelmsford, the best one I’ve ever been to. As a vegan, it can be difficult to find restaurants to cater to my diet but Lanthong made it so easy for me, they catered exactly to my needs, proving to me that the food is made fresh daily and it was completely delicious. Fantastic and friendly service, would absolutely recommend.

Ate here tonight and was absolutely blown away. The pad Thai is the best I’ve had in this country and the special fried rice was absolutely incredible. The service was great and the staff were all so lovely. The only thing that would make this the best Thai restaurant to exist would be bigger portions to match tie price of the food as it is a little expensive for the amount of food you get in a dish

Came here with my Thai wife who is usually quite fussy about eating Thai food when she is out as it usually isn’t like ‘back home’ but this place was amazing! My wife is now very happy and we will be visiting again asap! This beef soup we had was absolutely wonderful and also a crab special. The food is sensational and authentic, look forward to visiting again !

Haven't visited for a while but it didn't disappoint. In fact, it made us think why hadn't we come sooner! It was a Monday night, temperature outside was very hot but despite no Aircon we were seated under a ceiling fan which helped a lot. It soon filled up with customers and I noticed how welcome we were all made to feel. The food was amazing and we left full and happy. I really do recommend this little gem.

Lanthong is a hidden gem for authentic Thai food in Chelmsford. The dishes are bursting with flavour. The spicy and the savoury dishes served here … it’s all on point and well balanced out! The atmosphere is warm and inviting. The customer service is super, staff are friendly and attentive. Whether dining in or ordering takeout, Lanthong consistently delivers delicious and satisfying meals. Highly recommend!

Our first time visiting this restaurant and we were so impressed. A warm welcome and friendly attentive service, coupled with delicious authentic Thai food. Each dish was so fresh and well seasoned with loads of flavour. Glad to find such a great Thai restaurant in Chelmsford. We'll definitely be back!

We have been to Lanthong multiple times and it never disappoints. The food is fantastic! And you can get it spicier if you can handle it. The best Thai in Chelmsford.

This is a really nice local Thai restaurant. We tried this place out spontaneously (a little hard to find as it’s above another shop) but really really nice food freshly cooked and with good service. They have a herb sauce made with garlic and ginger and it’s one of the best I have ever tasted (nice even with plain rice). I recommend a visit here if you want to try something that’s not a chain/too commercial. You won’t be disappointed, also child friendly but you may need to ask for help up the stairs.

Had a lovely meal here on a Monday night. Food was fantastic and very tasty, exactly what you’d expect of an independent and authentic Thai restaurant. Was quiet as it was mid week but the staff were friendly and attentive without being overbearing. Would definitely come again.

I have been visiting Lanthong since I moved to Chelmsford in 2015. What a great little restaurant! Food is excellent and service is very attentive. When I brought my Thai friend a few years back she was impressed and even commented that some of these dishes are hard to get right even in Thailand. We have always had great meals at Lanthong and we will be back very soon!

Had a family meal here. Staff were very nice and polite. The food was top notch. Stayed around two hours. Would definitely visit again. Prices are very reasonable and there's lots of food choices.

Always enjoy eating at Lanthong . My boyfriend introduced me to this place 2 years ago and was impressed then, as I am today. Great food with lots of variety for different tastes and dietary needs. Very friendly staff and always enjoy chatting to the owners. Have taken my brother and friends to this place and they come away with a happy and full tummy 😊. Fully recommend x
