Cozy place, Nice and clean We ordered drinks and food, while we waited we got a snack some chips similar to 4 different dips, super delicious. I ordered a butter chicken, and garlic naan bread We got a large potion of butter chicken, I think it was very sweet, delicious freshly made naan bread

Really excited to try Lanka, after seeing all the positive reviews.. Unfortunately my experience did not live up to the expectations that I had set. Like other reviewers the Chicken Tikka, both as a starter and in the Korai was bland, dry and chewy - seemed over cooked and under spiced. The sauce of the dish was very nice, but the chicken used let the dish and my experience down. I was going to let the staff know this, however I was not asked how my meal was and the overall service was acceptable, just not great. Hopefully I just was unlucky and the standards are better than what my experience was. Next time I’ll stick to what I know and visit a very good restaurant on the Marina

Forgot I was down Anlaby Road. Felt like I was in a little side street in India. Food was absolutely amazing, could not fault it. Recommend the mixed kebab as the chicken was to die for. The pakoras were so good, chicken was really good quality. The lemon chicken sauce was so flavourful. Was full of garlic and lemon, was really light, not too spicy but still packed with flavour. Definitely coming here again

Curry sauces were watery and not well flavoured & the meat was tough, tasting like it had been cooked previously, warmed up again & thrown into the sauce. Disappointing

Can't fault the service, the food was excellent, the best Indian food we've had in a long time.

A great find. Fantastic food, all the usual Indian dishes are available plus Lanka specials and chef recommendations, all at a reasonable price. Atmosphere only marked down because it was fairly quiet when we visited. However, decor matches the quality of the food. Highly recommended, you’ll not be disappointed.

We visited Lanka to celebrate my sister’s 20th birthday, and I couldn’t have been more impressed! The evening was absolutely wonderful, with both the service and food exceeding our expectations.

Absolutely terrible experience. The chicken curry was the worst I’ve ever had—dry grilled chicken tossed in bland tomato gravy, and the staff had the audacity to call it an authentic preparation. No flavor at all. The service was unprofessional, and the staff didn't seem to care at all. Definitely won't be coming back! If you're looking to enjoy authentic Indian cuisine, this is definitely not the place.

Great food (Vindaloo was superb) and service👌. 2nd time here (do quite a bit of travelling), 1st was 6 years ago, and glad I came back on this visit. Will be looking forward to eating here again when in Hull again - in the New Year, hopefully.

Never had a bad meal here. Service is on point and is excellent value for the money.

We were told this was the best Indian restaurant around, was really looking forward to it. The East European waitress was very gentle and patience, thank you- thought it might be a good start to the night. They even have mango lassi, wow. Unfortunately when the meal arrived, the potato in the curry was not fresh and the veggies were denture friendly. The prawns in the briyani was frozen and chicken tikka presented on sizzling hot plate- getting weirder as the meal continued. Certainly a five star for the customer service.

The chicken on all 3 dishes was cooked fresh on skewers and was moist and tasty. Very good. TY very much

Went to this place to have a nice evening but to be fair, the food was awful. Ordered duck tikka and only two tiny pieces of duck(tasted like some other meat dipped in a bucket of sauces) was presented. Also ordered tandoori roti which looked like undercooked roti. Was very disappointed.

The food is very delicious. I have tasted several places in Hull. But the taste and freshness of the food is amazing. I really appreciate the staff and highly recommend this place.

Incredible food. We had the Fish Garlic Chilli Korai and the Dashi Lamb Bahar, the best meal I've had in Hull for a very long time. I can't recommend this place enough, just go.

Been here a few times now food is exceptional I enjoy it more every time I go

First time in Hull so visited this restaurant. The food is incredible. I had the lamb chop to start and it was cooked to perfection. Pink. I then had the duck jalfrezi. Was hot but once again was cooked perfectly. It can usually be dry. This way the case here. Lovely staff. Would recommend.

Quick service, not too expensive, but very mediocre food. Aubergines and garlic naan ways too fat, lentils overcooked and without taste - not the explosion of flavours you should expect from Indian food.

Fantastic restaurant, a hidden gem. The best of its kind in Hull. The food is really good, great atmosphere, staff are excellent. Abu and Paula gave great service. They even joined in with our musical adventure on kazoos. So glad I have found this place, I will definitely be going back. I know it's not a posh part of town but don't let that put you off. Good value.

Had a lovely meal here tonight, welcomed by a friendly team, nice atmosphere and delicious hot food. Portions are very generous, if I wasn't staying in a hotel I would have taken what was left home with me! Garlic Naans were great, very generous on the garlic, just how I like it. Will definitely be back if I'm in Hull in the future.

A nice restaurant close to Hull city centre. Friendly and helpful staff and prompt service. Good food somewhat milder than is typical but this does not detract from the quality.

Hull is a strange place on a Monday night. No one around and not many places open. Luckily Lanka was open and welcomed us with open arms. Fantastic service and food. They recommended us some delicious dishes and we left very happy. Would highly recommend.

Wonderful place. I get the vegetarian side dishes only (£5.00) each with naan. Best Bombay potato side dish in Hull! Waitress is very nice and lovely person.

I can not understand why on Saturday eveni g more people are eating here. It is just a short distance off Ferens easy to find. The portions and food were delicious. One of the best curries I have had for a while.Just round the corner from the Ibis. Will certainly return next time we are in Hull.

Wow. Easily one of the best curries I’ve ever had (53 yrs old so have had a few 😂). Kudos to the chef. Had deshi lamb bahar. It was ridiculously tasty. Why isn’t this place busier? Mad. It’s SO good. Top class for flavour.

Lovely staff, excellent food, good atmosphere, I would whole heartedly recommend Lanka, it is without doubt one of the best Indian/asian restaurants that we have had the pleasure of visiting.

I've been at Lanka a few times and each time, I've enjoyed the meals, drinks, service and atmosphere . Prawn and Lamb Biryani are fantastic, delucious and value for money. Today I had, chef's recommended Fish Garlic Chilli Korai with mushroom rice and garlic coriander nan. They were tasty, full of flavour and delicious. This was by far my favourite dish and I will have it again! Thank you Lanka team!

Lovely meal and wonderful atmosphere!

Just been in after reading the views. Me and my son had some time to kill so thought we would give Lanka a try. The service was good, food was good, price was as expected. I would definitely go back in. Maybe order less food next time. Portions for me were too large. All in all deserves a very good rating.

I popped into this place after a long journey. Don't be put off by the surrounding street scene. This place is magical. You'll get a warm welcome, friendly efficient service and delicious food at great value. Tell the waiter what you like and he will match your taste buds to a fabulous dish. I had the Maduri Chicken. It was beautiful - just the right level of heat with a sweet succulent sauce and generous pieces of moist chicken. A great find if you are near the station in Hull.

Had ordered simple stuff, a chicken on bone curry and nan. Food was really bad, no taste, unnecessary spices and use of oils. Nan was equally bad. Staff were polite and courteous and restaurant had a good decorum but largely empty.

I've been a quite few times at the restaurant and never have been disappointed with the food. It has a quiet atmosphere, pleasant music, I even have my favourite song there, the owner told me it's called Saude Bazi by Anupam Amod. The restaurant has also nice table settings, I feel a bit guilty, if I spill something on the cloths. Staff are welcoming and attentive. Some of my favourite dishes are Lamb Korma, Mega Mix Grill, and Mixed Platter sharing starter which is available on request, it has chicken tikka, lamb tikka, sheek kebab, onion bhaji and samosa. I highly recommend this restaurant, it in the city centre, close to the train station, and has parking nearby.

Quite possibly the best curry I've ever had.. and the only place where the lime pickle on the pickle tray was actually edible 😋 joking aside, I've NEVER seen prawns so big in a main and the lamb in the lamb saag was actually pink in the middle. My belly is beyond happy!

We went here last night. We chose it as it’s the only Indian other than fine dining that is close to the city centre. The food was reasonably priced and the decor was pleasant. The service was ok, more polite than friendly. The food was below the standard that I’d expect from other Indian restaurants. My main issue is hygiene standards. It has 2/5 on the food hygiene rating but also there were so many flies in the restaurant. In December. I was swatting my head and the food all evening. I wish I’d walked out and I don’t know why I stayed.

Afgelopen maand met collega gegeten. Was niet heel druk waardoor sfeer wat koeltjes is. Gezien de kwaliteit van het eten zou het drukker mogen zijjn. Heerlijke curries en porties voldoende groot. Ook de mango lassie was erg smakelijk. Kom hier zeker terug.

Naan bread was rubbery and undercooked. Butter chicken was NOT butter chicken, it was a korma. The king prawn rogan was okay. I really wanted this to be good but it was massively underwhelming 🙁

A wonderful evening at Lanka. After spending the afternoon in hull city centre we decided to look for a curry house for tea and Lanka was the closest restaurant. This was not a disappointment. The service was wonderful and after ordering a bottle of red wine, we then chose the fish mossala and the Madiri chicken. Both were excellent and extremely flavorful. A real hit and full of spice. We will definitely return next time we are in Hull!!

Not normally my first choice of cuisine due to an aversion to coriander but my meal was fabulous, very tasty, full of spice and not a coriander leaf in sight. Service was excellent. Highly recommend. Will definitely be visiting again
