Time and time again this place delivers. The service is beyond brilliant, it’s almost like you are watching a performance, totally authentic, fun just the epitome of exceptional service, how service should be done. The food is brilliant but in a strange way the food is not the centre piece it’s just part of an overall experience. The Langar experience. Make sure you get there one hour before to enjoy drinks before dinner, this is all part of the experience. We went with a group of close friends, enjoyed drinks on the lawn and then a meal in a private room - honestly it’s like you are transported to a different place - there is nowhere else like it in my opinion and it’s why having gone to many restaurants like this around the world that this place still remains number one. Thank you so much for the experience and lifelong memories x

A perfect day for our daughters wedding in a beautiful setting. Langar Hall excelled themselves, Lisa the wedding planner created the day our daughter envisaged. The weather was kind to us and we were able to have the wedding outdoors making the the most of the beautiful grounds for photographs and garden games. The food was fabulous and plentiful, the staff very welcoming and attentive and the day ran very smoothly. The bride and groom, family and friends enjoyed a day to remember. We booked the hotel rooms for family and friends to stay over, very comfortable and spacious and a fabulous breakfast the following morning with great service. Thank you, we would definitely recommend.

Afternoon tea at the Hall was delicious, we enjoyed every morsel. We did feel slightly awkward about the service charge which is added on unless you state otherwise. Also maybe screen the washing line from arriving guests.

Had a lovely afternoon tea here recently and at £34pp expected something good, however a glass of prosecco was £11, a G&T £15.50 and a glass of champagne £15.50. Then we had to ask for a cup of tea! Free btw! To top if off gratuities were added around £28 I think. The house and ambience is lovely, shame the gardens aren't looked after so we'll, the view from the conservatory isn't the best I'm sure I will go again but when I've saved up for a drink or 2..

My wife would give Langar Hall a 5 but I just felt irritated by being asked to pay an extra £5 for some potatoes with my duck when the basic charge was £75 and I couldn’t buy a bottle of wine for less than £40. Everything else was lovely. Charming house, delightful staff and delicious food. But the extra charge for a potato comes across as being greedy and grasping. I won’t be rushing back but I suspect my wife will persuade me to do so as she enjoyed it so much.

Langar Hall is a different experience, many love it but it missed the mark in so many ways for me. First you need to accept that it is a lovely house that is used as a restaurant, so it feels like going to a delightful 50th birthday party where tables and chairs have been placed in rooms and spaces to accommodate everyone. The staff greet you as welcomed friends adding to this ambience, and genuinely want you to have a great experience. In keeping with the 'experience' not everyone was able to be seated for drinks in a reception room but that was fine. There is nothing here not to like (love?) Where I get frustrated is a menu that only offers a 3 course £75 option (which is fine with a choice of 4/5 options per course) but then the chef feels a need to put 'additional cost' dishes on, not just on the main which is sadly common, but on all 3 courses! Scallops (extra) Beef (extra) Banana Souffle (extra) - why? I did think that the wine list was strong and reasonable value, but was disappointed to sit at the table with glassware which could have come from Wetherspoons, durable but hardly in keeping with a fine dining experience. The only bread offered was Treacle (also featured in the desert menu) which was unusual, as was the prevalence of Yorkshire Rhubarb across the whole menu. Many, many, many guests love Langar Hall. I just struggled with the format, was not a fan of the food and for a bill of £350 per couple was left feeling pretty flat. Perhaps if I went back again knowing what to expect I would relax into it.

Yesterday I celebrated my hen lunch at Langar in the Indian room - 14 of us. The service and food was absolutely first class and we were looked after brilliantly with very professional staff. To have my guests greeted at the front door as they arrived and told a glass of champagne is waiting for them , is just the sort of service I appreciate and I really want to say the afternoon could not have been bettered in any way. Nothing was too much trouble. Thank you so much Langar Hall. Anna

Visited with friends to celebrate our wedding anniversary on Sat 3rd February 2024. Had read good reports and wanted a fine dining experience as near to Michelin Star standard as possible. We were not disappointed- a nice welcome from Reception, attentive, respectful and efficient service from all the staff and food of very high quality with no long waits between courses. No shortage of staff and all well trained. We were told the twice baked cheese souffle was a speciality- it was superb! We had fallow deer (flavourful and tender) and the pheasant & ham hock pie was also greatly appreciated .I particularly enjoyed the rum poached pineapple with coconut sorbet & lime granita . We all thoroughly enjoyed the meal- no problem with one of our friends being gluten free- a personalised menu for our anniversary was a lovely touch. Spent ages in the lounge catching up with our friends but noone hurried us. To sum up - Excellent, not cheap but you get what you pay for - we had a great lunch to remember and will definitely visit again as soon as possible !

Wow, what can I say about Langar Hall? The word that we kept saying were fantastic service, Esoteric styling in a good way, outstanding food, fantastic location and a real experience worth every penny. How often do you go out for lunch or dinner and you’re done inside an hour? Not at Langar. You’re made to feel so welcome, almost like you’re welcome to stay for the whole day if that’s what you want. If I use the words old-fashioned service, I mean it as exceptional but not stuffy. But there is nothing old-fashioned about the food, other than it is truly outstanding. We went for Sunday lunch, and boy, I wish I could go every week. The food was exceptional, if I’ve ever had better shoulder of lamb, I can’t remember it. It came with lamb gravy and all the trimmings. We wouldn’t hesitate to return, next time for a Saturday night with perhaps an overnight stay. Thank you Langar.

We visited for dinner having wanted to visit somewhere special and local. We were surprised to find there was a children's party in the room next to the lounge which wasn't expected and spoilt the quiet atmosphere. Staff were friendly and the food was nice although for the price of the menu we have eaten far better for less. The wine list is also expensive as another reviewer commented. Overall we were disappointed, we should have felt wowed by the food and service for the prices but certainly didn't.

Such a pleasant and relaxed place for lunch, staff great, attentive but never intrusive or over familiar. It seemed very busy for Sunday lunch, but that didn’t effect service or quality of food. We didn’t have alcohol but no pressure to do so. Water on table was frequently replenished. One of our party needed gluten free and a separate menu was provided, with just as much choice as the main menu. I had cheese soufflé which was light and fluffy delicious. The men who had the smoked salmon starter would have liked it to be bigger, I guess that was because it was so good! Roast lamb beautifully cooked. Wonderful smoked swede puree. I asked one of the waiters how it was made, he said he would find out. Quickly another waiter came back, he had spoken to the chef and explained to me how it was made. This despite being busy, impressive. Puddings delicious. Excellent meal and ambience. Thank you.

Although we are long-time admirers of Langar Hall and despite living locally, it had been quite a while since we had last dined there - a mistake we will not make again! Our Sunday lunch (to celebrate my wife’s birthday) was a special treat from beginning to end. Drinks in the lounge and then a specially printed ‘birthday menu’ from which to choose, set the right tone which was maintained throughout our meal. The sensibly short menu ensured that all of our choices, including the generous and tasty lamb and beef main courses, were well cooked and served beautifully. A good choice of wines was available, including by the glass. All of the staff were very professional and knowledgeable but friendly too. Langar Hall, under Imogen’s ownership was always ‘the place’ to visit in East Nottinghamshire, whether to stay or merely to eat. For us it still maintains that very special status.

We've been meaning to come to Langar hall for a while, but it was worth the effort. We went with friends to nearby Hambleton hall earlier in the year, which was nice but a little too stuffy for us, (we are young at heart early 60's). Langar hall hits the spot with surroundings, staff and food on offer. Very relaxed environment with some real quirky but nice touches. Service was impeccable, friendly and attentive. Nice people. Great choice of aperitifs, wines, cocktails and beers, which complemented the excellent food. Between us we had the a' la carte and fixed menus and all of it was fresh and tasty. We arrived just before one and left after 5, and it flew by because we enjoyed it. Going back soon for an evening dinner. Treat yourself and go to Langar Hall... you deserve it :)

We have been visiting Langar Hall to celebrate special occasions for many years now. We had something of a hiatus a couple of years ago but have returned several times since and I am pleased to report that the experience has not only significantly improved, but continues to get better with each visit. My wife has a food intolerance issue that they handle superbly, even producing an individual menu for her on each occasion. The cooking is truly special, with top quality ingredients skilfully prepared and elegantly presented. Thoughtful touches like appetisers and pre-desserts are chosen with care and compliment the meal wonderfully. The use of local ingredients where possible is another positive. For the quality of the food presented, the menu is very good value. We are fortunate in being able to say that we have dined in many Michelin starred restaurants both in the UK and Europe, and we are both somewhat surprised that Langar does not currently have one, the food absolutely warrants a Michelin star (or two!) The service is friendly and we are always warmly welcomed into this lovely country house hotel. We look forward to our return once again..... highly recommended!

This was our first visit to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. To say we were disappointed is an understatement. This is supposed to be a high class restaurant, the prices certainly suggest so,and although the food was of a high standard, the service was not. First impression at reception poor, receptionist chewing gum and dressed in denim jacket and doc marten boots.

This was our 3rd visit - this time for a family birthday celebration. Lisa, the event planner, bent over backwards to ensure everything went to plan. Our celebratory lunch was superb and the staff were just brilliant. Very highly recommended.

Just had lovely lunch at Langar Hall. Beautiful grounds and lovely food. The service was excellent with very courteous staff. Stayed for over 3 hours chatting and having coffee and drinks and did not feel any pressure to leave. Thoroughly enjoyable.

Beautiful surroundings and rooms, menu was short but fabulous, food to match and service top class. Situated a half hour drive from Nottingham and well worth the short journey. We had the £27.50 menu with three courses each course, plenty of choice and all beautifully presented and served. We noted on the events list that Xmas day lunch and an October Fawlty Towers event are already sold out which speaks for itself.

Langar Hall remains a high end eating establishment, the style, ambiance, food and service would happily compete with London's West End. The wine list is extensive and compliments the menu. The dining Service is exemplary, without being pretentious, and clearly reflects the quality ethos.

Came to celebrate a friend's significant birthday. The food was wonderful, flavoursome, attractively presented, and large enough potions without over-filling you. The staff were great, and the drinks were all delicious (I would recommend their own gin).

I think this was the best meal I have ever had at Langar Hall. Excellent food, and superb service. Very pleasant to sit outside on the lawn for drinks and coffee on a uncharacteristically sunny day for April in Nottinghamshire. It's not cheap.

After an hour in an Uber I arrived at Langar Hall. It was just as I imagined it to be in terms of the building. Old quirky and set in the grounds of a Cemetry / church.

Have to say that the food was a half and half experience. My husband enjoyed his starter and lamb but I can't say the same for mine. I started with salmon and beetroot that was drowned in creme friache. Followed by crispy tortellini which tasted deep fried and greasy. Even my rich chocolate dessert wasn't great so after two mouthfuls I gave up and left it. Shame the food wasn't as nice as the amuse-bouches served in the bar area which were fantastic.

My son’s 16th birthday was a joy, celebrated in muted, tasteful style with glorious food and the best service we have received in a long time! Dedicating the menu to him was a humorous and welcoming touch. Thank you.

My husband and I first came here 30 years ago before we were married (just courting!) and it was our first fine dining experience with the wonderful Imogen Skirting floating around the tables engaging in conversation - oh the halcyon days of smoking at the tables!

This is now a family tradition and very much enjoyed by all . Our grandchildren were allowed to choose whatever they liked whether on the menu or not. As a vegetarian I loved the vegetarian wellington. The rest of the family enjoyed their choices. We had the library to ourselves and the children loved the freedom to play the games in the library or to roam outside. Can’t fault the staff ,all were very friendly and attentive. Our youngest son was married here so Langar Hall is very special to the whole family. We all love this place

We were hoping that Langar Hall would become our regular go to restaurant after experiencing some exceptional food there previously this year, however we visited last night (1st December), and were left really disappointed and £140 lighter. We arrived for our 7.15pm table at 7.05pm only to be greeted with a " you had better dive on the sofa quickly to get a seat". We thought no more, but this was then followed minutes later with a young woman asking us if we knew what we wanted to eat as a party was coming in and they wanted our order. Bearing in mind this was before we even should have been due to arrive in the first place we thought it was very odd. The meal itself in terms of food quality was great, but we had eaten three courses and had coffee by 8.15pm. Rushed was an understatement, and the service was very poor, before we were seated our starters arrived, we had to ask for bread, etc etc. It was far from the relaxing evening out we were really looking forward to. Langar Hall had clearly bitten off more than it could chew on Saturday, with parties etc going on, however if you can't service your bread and butter clientele properly at the same time, then something needs to be done to rectify this. We mentioned our issues to front of house but the usual lady was not around and we didn't really feel that the problem was dealt with properly. What a real shame!

Great venue and grounds, like the Emperors cloths, food a real let down, will not be visiting again, unless they up their game, or listen to the people who pay a not inconcequential sun for mediocre food at best.

We visited Langar Hall on a Tuesday evening for a 60th birthday meal. Whilst somewhat formal, the ambience was still relaxing and the service very friendly and courteous. The unusual onion and stilton bread roll was very tasty and the cheese soufflé starters we both selected were well executed. Things unfortunately went awry with the two main courses. The lightly salted cod was fresh and fell apart when cut, but it was very bland. The assiette of lamb was also disappointing and our favourite pub in Burton Joyce offers a much tastier alternative on a Sunday. The choice of fresh produce accompanying both dishes was just weird and pretty inedible.

I like everything about 200 except the atmosphere, it is really dark inside, lack of spaces, no umbrella outside during raining time.

If I could give more than five stars I would! My breakfast meal was the best I have ever had, cooked to perfection just how I like it. If you ask for crispy bacon, you get what you ask for. The service is lovely, staff always there with a smile and friendly chat, nothing is too much for them. A choice of any egg, scrambled, poached, fried... very reasonable for what you get. Lovely clean place, very accessible for parking. Five stars from me.
