It was OK the food was nice and fresh ( carvery) but it was noon, so it should be. Service was good, not exceptional.

Staff were really helpful and friendly. Food was excellent. Thank you!

The roast potatoes where over cooked

Visited for Sunday dinner on the 14th after having a brilliant experience at another pub in the chain but although the meat was plentiful and really nice the roast potatoes were disgraceful, literally nearly black and rock solid, we ate just after midday so they must have been leftovers reheated from the previous day, Yorkshire pudding were like rock aswell. Wont be visiting again

My family have been visiting for years and we really enjoy both the the buffet breakfast and carvery. Could have more variety of eggs for the breakfast and on certain occasions there has been limited veg options for the carvery but the food always tastes great and is very good value for money! Both parking and the seating are plentiful so booking isn’t always necessary. The service is always friendly too :)

A lovely experience! My partner, my son and I had a lovely get together with my sister, her partner and her son. The atmosphere was really nice, extremely nice people visiting the pub and the staff are friendly and polite. The food was really nice too, my sons pizza look so appetizing and must of been tasty as he ate it all. I had a burger that was also lovely and partner had multiple starters for his lunch 😅😂 and he enjoyed every one. There was a little play area but not really big enough for a 6 year old child but there was a few machines inside that my son enjoyed. The only bad thing I could say is we're was seat had a bench on one side of the table where we sat and it was old the pleather had peeled and the padding had gone. It was also very wobbly and uncomfortable but we didn't say anything so we did not give the staff chance to move but it wasn't the end of the world.

We had a family meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday, all six of us had the carvery. The pub was busy and so we were pleased we booked a table. We all enjoyed the meal, we were impressed that when we disclosed an allergy you provided clean serving spoons. Overall the meal was very nice, the only problems we encountered was that the cauliflower cheese for two people had a large lump of inedible hard stalk in it and some of the roast potatoes were overcooked, not just crispy which is low I like them, properly burnt with a nasty taste. There was also a very long queue for the carvery, but it was Sunday lunchtime which I guess is a popular time. One member of our party was a wheelchair user, the access to the building was level and provided reasonable access. As it was busy there were no blue badge parking bays available. One member of the party had to accompany the wheelchair user to the carvery as he obviously couldn’t carry a plate, which meant they had to queue again to collect their meal, this meant the people who queued first were almost finished when they returned with their food after queuing twice. Could you have a system where a carer can collect their meat after assisting a wheelchair user when it is busy? So a couple of improvements that could be easily made, but overall we had a lovely meal and we will return to The Shepherds, making sure we avoid the inedible parts of the cauliflower and burnt potatoes!

Place was very cold no heating on as we sat next to radiator we all had a carvery mash potatoe was cold and the rest of the dinner was Luke warm the gravy was the only thing that was hot

The food and service were really good. My only issue was my son and i wanted a mixed grill but unfortunately there was no steak on the menu. My 11 year old daughter loves a carvery and enjoyed her meal. In summary, it was a nice meal but not what i came for and the staff were busy but still pleasant and polite. As long as you don’t want a mixed grill you would enjoy the meal and the atmosphere 100%

Hadn’t been there in a long time due to illness, but my god food was AMAZING 🤪 Manager sooo friendly and staff 👍 The chef great banter 🫶 Carn’t wait to sample the B/F 😜 We’ll definitely be going at least 3 times a week 👏

Very clean. Did well to recover from flooding only a week ago. Great choice of food on carvery. Food quality and preparation were excellent. Great friendly staff. Superb value for money. Disappointed with ales Doombar served but end of barrel. John Smith s served but cloudy and end of barrel. Wainwright s ale looked ok but tasted vinegary. Need a good cellarman appointing who cares about what is served

Food and Service was great. The ice cream from the bottomless machine was the only lowlight. We felt the quality of the ice cream was poor.

Good value for money carvery, with really great staff.

This comment is mainly on the vegan beyond burger, which was very bad. It was very very wet, and the burger itself was watery and undercooked. It was just unpleasant and we felt a bit sick after eating. And it’s not super cheap at £21 for two burgers and a few frozen potato wedges. I am sure it can be improved easily, which is why I’m leaving this review. We were pleasantly surprised that they had oat milk for coffee though and vegan items labelled on the menu.

Oh dear. I will simply say I will never return.

Gave the shepherds inn another try on Thursday and what an improvement from the experience 9 months ago, the beef was fantastic, very tender and succulent with plenty of veg choices this time, the others in the party had turkey and said it was very nice, so glad we gave them another chance, now the shepherds inn is back on our rota, we had been using the shepherd's inn for over 40 years way back when it was a small cosy fine dining restaurant

Danielle and Will are always welcoming . We love to get our family together and there can be a lot of us arrive. We are never rushed and it’s a great place for us all to meet, it’s one of our family high lights.

We go most weeks and I have a small carvery which I think it's £6.29 and my friend has a traditional carvery. There are other dishes to choose from. Meat and vegetables always very nice and cooked to my liking which is Al dent.. I usually have beef and a a generous tasty portion is served by a friendly chef. All staff are friendly and we get served in a timely manner We normally go around 12 but yesterday we were a bit later at 2.30-the food was still fresh and In plentiful supply. It looked very appetising. You can also use Meercat Rewards Monday to Thursday so we were able to get 25% off both food and drink.. Bargain! However even without this the food is excellent value money. Would recommend.

Worth short detour off A46. Not familiar with area off main road - found pub on Google maps and decided to give it a try on a grey November lunchtime. Warm welcome from staff - both drinks served as we like them. We both had the carvery. Meats cooked well, excellent choice of veg and sides - all piping hot. Excellent value. It deserved to be busier. When in area next time would not hesitate to eat there again

Not a great first impression as cleaning products were positioned at the main point of entry, we were greeted but not informed what or where to go. The member of staff went off to clear and clean our table but this was not communicated immediately to us. Another staff member then arrived and asked us to wait in the bar area whilst our table no.12 was prepared. We ordered our drinks and food, checked our table afterwards which seemed fine so positioned our drinks and went to the carvery. A good selection of meats for myself, my wife had the vegetarian option. There was not any alternative to the meat for vegetarians however which seemed strange. The vegetables were bland, some overcooked, others under. The cauliflower cheese was pretty much without any cheese flavour. The stuffing was pretty poor and rhe yorkshire were cheap tasting and would guess frozen bulk buys. The meats however were very good and the best thing about our visit. This was obviously completely irrelevant to my vegetarian wife who was disappointed with the whole experience. The staff member serving the meat was friendly, chatty, very pleasant and accommodating. Adjoining tables remained uncleared with dirty plates and glasses throughout our visit which lasted approximately 1 hour. I thought this was poor considering there were several members of staff chatting at the bar when I visited the restrooms. Overall it was a very disappointing meal, we would not return to these standards.

Lovely food as usual. Kids had freshly made pizzas and I had meat free carvery. Only downside was roasties had been out a while so were very brown and a bit soggy other than that veg was cooked well and good variety

Had trouble getting my qr code sorted for the Kids eat for £1 offer the lady at the bar sorted it out for me and was very patent friendly & helpful.. Carvery was lovely and the chef even brough yorkies to our table for us because he had ran out of them when we was getting our carvery.

Staff all really cheerful, pleasant and helpful, from the lady that welcomed us (sorted out the best route to our table for my mother ) , to the guy serving on the carvery (big beaming smile the whole time) to the person who bought our dog a bowl of water (unprompted). Food was excellent as always. Prices very reasonable. All in all its our go to location for informal family meals (9 of us ate yesterday all really happy with the experience).

Went for breakfast recently and can't fault the food but... fridges weren't working so all the drinks were warm which the kids didn't like. I asked for colder drinks and the server said sorry we don't have cold bottles and didn't seem bothered. But the breakfast was good so food wise can't complain

This is the second Stonehouse Carvery we've been to & again it was great, the food & staff excellent!

Saying on a near by campsite, went in 3 night's on the trot,, lovely food and friendly staff a specially on the Wednesday night.....definitely be back 👍👍

Went out for a meal with my dad and girlfriend when we arrived we went to a table and it was dirty table we asked for the table to be cleaned but they never came and the pub was empty so they was not busy. We moved to another table we’re the seats was all ripped of had massive hole in it and smelt of urine. So we moved tables again were we was sitting in dark area bad lighting could hardly see properly we ordered our food the carvery was cold and the meat was tough. The fish and chips was greasy the fish tasted like it been cooked in old fatty oil chips was hard not cooked also the Mac and cheese was very tough though could pick it up in one lump and tasted like the cheese was of. The sticky toffee pudding was bad was not very nice. The John smiths bitter was flat and looked like mud I will never be going again only good thing about it the man behind the bar was very nice but that’s all everything else was a complete disgrace.

Amazing food, went out of their way to help me and my disabled family. We were never patronised, only cared for and helped. We had so many food requirements, and Danielle went out of her way to make this all possible. I’m so grateful to the team for all they did. It’s been so difficult to go out the past 10 years, as I have three severely disabled children, and a husband with MS. We are always made to feel like an inconvenience, but I couldn’t recommend here enough for the way we were made to feel. We won’t forget the things they did. The price point here is very reasonable, and too cheap if I’m being honest. The food quality is outstanding, the team are friendly, and if you have a special request, if they can do, it they will! There’s also a lot of choice on the menu, and it’s very adaptable. Can’t wait to come back again soon. We had previously gone to the gap, which is also apart of the same brand, and it was horrific, managers don’t care, and the food was shocking, but that’s a complaint all in itself. Thank you to Danielle and team for making us feel like a normal family x

Had Sunday carvery. Food was well cooked and hot. We will certainly go again. One child's burger had a hard piece of chicken in. The staff were so apologetic and offered a take away carvery.

I was encouraged to go for a meal, which I was dubious about as I had food poisoning from there many years ago. I felt relaxed, service very good, food excellent and friendly staff.

A Carvery with a nice range of roasts, pizzas & specials. Large indoor and outdoor accessible spaces, large car parks & all at a pretty resonable cost. A good place for family meals. It's even on the local bus route!

Food was amazing, we had a table for 8 but some of the party were late and we weren't bothered once. Carvery stunning and wow the pizzas are good. Will definitely return

We went for breakfast and it was excellent. Plenty of choice, self service and you can go back up if you have room! Couldn't recommend it more!

Came for Sunday lunch which I thought would be the choice of 4 meats not 2 and scraps of veg, but only turkey and beef no crackling left had to wait for fresh roasts , was told it’s been busy it doesn’t take a rocket scientist to work out you would be busy but I paid the same price as someone who had all the meats I didn’t think that’s right ? Because your manager can’t work out more meat would be needed on a Sunday poor

We had a late breakfast this morning so went for a treat was fabulous next time visiting grandchildren it's our place to eat in Nottingham from now on. The carvery they were setting out as we were leaving looked equally as fabulous £29 including drinks for 3 adults for a full English

Visited here while stopping at the nearby campsite . Went here with 4 adults and 3 children and a dog . It wasn’t busy . Was warmly welcomed by a really friendly bar man , who took our order , double checking a few details , really efficient. The food came fairly quickly , and we were really impressed . My chicken burger was really tasty , the kids pizza were great , and good value for money . Would definitely recommend this pub and it’s friendly staff .

Peaceful atmosphere, fair prices, wide selection of drinks and an excellent carvery with plenty of variation. All food is kept hot which is often rare with other similar places, so kudos for that! Definitely recommend! 👍

Popped in for a quick coffee with my son. Sat outside in the garden. Service was very good, very patient with my child.

NOT DEMENTIA FRIENDLY. I would not recommend taking anyone vulnerable or elderly here. The staff were very cold. My father was made to feel inadequate. I think ALL staff involved in customer service should understand and be trained in dealing with vulnerable customers or those with special needs. I was shocked that such a place in a prime setting could have such poorly trained staff. I would NEVER go here again.

Wasn't as good as last time we went. Son had gammon, but end of meat given very dry he couldn't eat it. Although when we complained we were offered free drink, we asked for pudding instead, and they agreed. Very slow service at the bar and with clearing tables but think they are understaffed

Not been here in a long time but found it to be great. Menu really good and so resonably priced. We had the carvery it was beautiful. It was served by a really nice young man , (Working hard in these hot conditions) Shame we didnt get his name but he was serving on 5 thJuly.lunch time. We didnt get to speak to the other staff as they where all busy but they seemed very plesent and happy to help if you needed anything. Its nice to see happy staff. We will be going again very soon , They also do breakfast and have a good childrens menu as well as all day meals..

Banging buffet breakfast and the carvery dinner is always as good

Went with a friend for food at The Shepherds pub. It is a nice bar out of the way and has some good walks nearby at Cotgrave Country Park. Excellent pint of Wainwright. The food was good value for money and portion size was excellent. Burger was very well cooked and tasty. Asked for mayonnaise never got any brought out but apart from that service was good. Would return.

This afternoon, me and 2 other work colleagues stopped for some lunch at the Stonehouse Shepard in Cotgrave. Luckily, we had the chance to be served by Cat. She was welcoming, friendly, and so hopeful. I'm personally rather fussy, and she had all the patients in the world while we looked through the menu. Having worked for Greene King in the past, I'm aware of how difficult it is to find great staff, but Cat was excellent. 6 stars for customer service. With such great skills, any restaurant or business should fight to keep her. Thank you Cat for a great experience at The Stonehouse Shepard Cotgrave.

Very good service, excellent food

Enjoyable Sunday Lunch with a warm welcome, parking and a good meal . Tried to order through the App but doesn’t work properly ( can’t order one portion of pigs in blanket if you order two carveries ! And other examples ). Didn’t realise a small carvery was children’s and changed to normal size no problem . Choice of 4 nicely cooked meats ( can have a slice of each ) , vegetables not so good with no red cabbage or broccoli and other a little over cooked . Excellent value for money and would recommend

Super friendly pub who squeezed in our large party, despite being very busy last Saturday night when we were staying at the local campsite. All the team could not have been more friendly & helpful. We had a lovely evening. Thank you.
