Just celebrated a family member s 60th Birthday with family and friends. The staff were amazing, they couldn't do enough, nothing was too much trouble. Everyone enjoyed the food too. Just wanted to say a big thank you to the staff for a lovely enjoyable evening

As a carvery, I really rate this place. Was introduced to the Shepherds by my sister and her husband. And since then have returned on multiple occasions. Last two of which have been with my brother. And for a place to meet my brothers exacting standards it's a-hold-the-front-page !!!. The lagers are clean and crisp. The pricing structure is certainly affordable. The cellarman certainly has an impeccable standard to keep up. The meats don't betray what we've all come to expect at a carvery. The Chef really puts it on the line each time a meat goes out. The meat is impeccable. The sides are heaven on a plate Atmosphere is obviously time related. Though I've been here early doors ish and the atmosphere is ok plus. This place can turn at the drop of a hat, which us why I give weekends a miss unless, and it is advisable to book in advance. I have no difficulties at giving an over all rating of ten out of ten. There are disabled facilities. Car parking facilities, and it can boast of OUTWARD AND RETURN BUS STOPS. This route is on the concessionary travel plan. A taxi ride from Shepherds TO Sneinton cost just less than twenty quid.

Visited The Shepherds for the first time yesterday, certainly won’t be our last. A warm & friendly welcome, not just for us, but our little dog as well. We both opted for the carvery and agreed it was one of the best we have ever hard. Well done chef and well done all the staff, you are a credit to this business!

I booked a table in advance and in the comment box I asked if we could have a side table due to my son's autism. On arrival find out that they reserved us 3 table in a quieter area so it was only us. Must say I almost cried. Food was nice and fresh for both of us and received everything promptly. The team is amazing, and I really appreciate the understanding. We had an amazing and calm dinner out. Thank you very much, definitely will be back in the future 💚

We were staying at Caravan and Camping site nearby . Fantastic service , so friendly and helpful. The pizzas are amazing , my wife had the carvery, loved it ! Dog friendly pub as well , thoroughly recommend!!! Many thanks to Eddie , Josh and Glen

My friend and I both had a lovely carvery there this afternoon. The service was great and even though they got one of our dessert choices wrong, they soon corrected the error and even offered the incorrect dessert as well! Definitely recommend this restaurant! Top notch!

Specifically took the kids for breakfast, no waffles available again, asked if we could have some scrambled egg was told we don't do scrambled egg, don't know many kids that like fried eggs, it's not exactly hard to scramble some eggs for one child

We went as a family group plus 3 dogs. We were made to feel very welcome and they ensured the dogs were comfortable and provided water and some sneaky treats. Bar service was prompt, friendly and professional. We had the carvery on two days and found the food to be fresh and of good standard. Very reasonable price too. Kids loved the bottomless ice cream, just think they should do this for the adults too. ;-)

Standard Stonehouse carvery. Quick to get a table, all meat and veggies spot on.

The only thing to comment on were roasties too well done for my liking. Otherwise I enjoyed my meal and a pint of Doombar.

Went with a friend for food at The Shepherds pub. It is a nice bar out of the way and has some good walks nearby at Cotgrave Country Park. Excellent pint of Wainwright. The food was good value for money and portion size was excellent. Burger was very well cooked and tasty. Asked for mayonnaise never got any brought out but apart from that service was good. Would return. Great value for money, great carvery.

Amazing breakfast always fully stocked and fresh rotation so is kept warm and nice. Best buffet breakfast i know of. Very affordable and is our go to place now for great fresh produce breakfast and all you can eat is a bonus for my partner. Great staff always welcoming.

Carvery on sunday and b.fast to die for

Have on 2 occasions been for the Sunday carvery. We went early for both meals. Got seats straight away as they will cater to fit you in wherever possible. As we went early, the meat was very tender and juicy, and the rest of the meal was lovely and fresh. Service was brilliant and with a smile.

Staff very friendly but food bang average at best. Typical chain pub.

Cannot and will not fault the place... food is 99% of the time hot, cooked well and plenty of it... yes you will find time when the pots need refilling, go to any carvery and you will find this at busy times... as for veg, who likes their veg cooked exactly like everyone else? I like my cauliflower soft, son likes it like a bullet, hubby hates the stuff :) you cant win. Staff, we stayed at the caravan park over the road in August and went in a few times (every night actually) for a dinner, went back just before Christmas for a Sunday roast (we live around 40 mins away) and the guy behind the bar remembered us! even asked how my dad was!... very impressed, he even remembered what my hubby drank! Going back in a few weeks, cant wait!

I spend a lot of time wondering the uk and this has been the best experience for a long time, the gentleman behind the bar and the other staff are a credit to the owners. The carvery was excellent along with excellent conditioned ale . I was staying at the ccc nottingham site around the corner and will return in a few months I feel sure.

Got a takeaway carvery here while staying at the nearby campsite. The food was good and there was so much of it we couldn't eat it all.

Pub is 5 minute walk from Ccc.campsite.. Walked dog...had small carvery...and bought 2 sausage for Dog.... Staff very nice ..polite....spoke to Emma...who was filling in for another member of staff.....and chef... Great menu.....carvery was nice veg nice ... It's Dog Friendly..... There's a carpark ... Will go again on next van trip...

Couldn’t recommend shepherds stone house enough! We have never had a bad meal, from the burgers to the carvery to the pizzas. Everything is always so fresh and tasty and lovely and warm. The all you can eat breakfast is our favourite Saturday morning treat and so much to choose from. Lastly the puddings.. so much to choose from and the perfect Finnish to a lovely tasty meal.. The staff are like a big family and are always so happy, and make you feel so welcome. Nothing is ever to much. It’s so refreshing walking into a busy restaurant and still seeing them have a laugh and still smiling.. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

Absolutely fantastic experience today.. It's my birthday so my husband decided to surprise me with a meal As we are not local (come from Boston lincolnshire) Our meal was absolutely amazing and the desserts were do much more than we expected.. A absolutely wonderful restaurant, staff were fantastic... Its was beautiful cosy and very inviting 😁😁 I'd Definitely visit again with my family..

The Sunday lunch (carvery) was the best we have ever had, so tasty and cooked perfectly.

We came here for a birthday meal after a friend recommended their pizzas. We were not disappointed at all. The pizzas were fabulous. Not your normal toppings (although they were available too), but different tasty ones which we loved! The service was fantastic. The members of staff on duty made us feel really welcome, they were genuine friendly people who clearly enjoyed their job and giving a good service. Even though the restaurant wasn’t very busy on the night (weds) they were busy constantly cleaning, restocking and checking on their customers. We were also pleased to get %25 off from downloading no the Stonehouse app! Thanks for a great meal and we will definitely be back and recommend to others.

Staff were lovely. Meat was dry, over cooked, veg was a mixture of undercooked (non al-dente, rock hard uncooked) and overcooked (roast potatoes at 12:15 were as I'd expect them at end of service, rock hard, like cutting through leather)

Not the place it used to be. Last year, I gave it 4 stars for food, value and service and although the staff are good, the food, well mainly the roast potatoes, are awful. Went last Sunday and obviously everyone was staying away from the roasts. There were 3 full pots of blackened roasts. Normally, I wouldn't mind a well done roast, but these were cremated! I tried to eat a couple, but they were the worst roasts I've ever come across and if I was the manager of that place, I'd have been embarrassed. Awful. Tried the turkey, which was moist and tasty, the mashed potato was nice but the rest was ok. I wouldn't go there again for a carvery. Pizzas looked good though so maybe I'll try them next time.

The overall experience was great a really relaxing atmosphere we enjoyed our meal and will be back for another meal. We felt the meal offered good value for money. It the first time we have eaten in Stonehouse restaurant.

Meal was horrible. Roast potatoes was burnt, the buds of the potatoes was in the mash and the meat was fatty. I did complain and nothing was done!

On our way to a weekend at The Nottinghamshire. Booked 15 of us in for breakfast and everyone delighted with quality of food and service. Definitely worth a visit

Decided to go today for lunch ordered 2 carvery’s at the bar went to be served and was told all the beef was gone the server was very rude and stated it’s all gone !! the veg was under cooked left most of it on the plate While walking out noticed another joint of beef had appeared on the serving counter absolutely fuming would be an understatement We have been going for years well definitely will not be going back any time soon

It was OK the food was nice and fresh ( carvery) but it was noon, so it should be. Service was good, not exceptional.

Visited for Sunday dinner on the 14th after having a brilliant experience at another pub in the chain but although the meat was plentiful and really nice the roast potatoes were disgraceful, literally nearly black and rock solid, we ate just after midday so they must have been leftovers reheated from the previous day, Yorkshire pudding were like rock aswell. Wont be visiting again

My family have been visiting for years and we really enjoy both the the buffet breakfast and carvery. Could have more variety of eggs for the breakfast and on certain occasions there has been limited veg options for the carvery but the food always tastes great and is very good value for money! Both parking and the seating are plentiful so booking isn’t always necessary. The service is always friendly too :)

A lovely experience! My partner, my son and I had a lovely get together with my sister, her partner and her son. The atmosphere was really nice, extremely nice people visiting the pub and the staff are friendly and polite. The food was really nice too, my sons pizza look so appetizing and must of been tasty as he ate it all. I had a burger that was also lovely and partner had multiple starters for his lunch 😅😂 and he enjoyed every one. There was a little play area but not really big enough for a 6 year old child but there was a few machines inside that my son enjoyed. The only bad thing I could say is we're was seat had a bench on one side of the table where we sat and it was old the pleather had peeled and the padding had gone. It was also very wobbly and uncomfortable but we didn't say anything so we did not give the staff chance to move but it wasn't the end of the world.

We had a family meal to celebrate my wife’s birthday, all six of us had the carvery. The pub was busy and so we were pleased we booked a table. We all enjoyed the meal, we were impressed that when we disclosed an allergy you provided clean serving spoons. Overall the meal was very nice, the only problems we encountered was that the cauliflower cheese for two people had a large lump of inedible hard stalk in it and some of the roast potatoes were overcooked, not just crispy which is low I like them, properly burnt with a nasty taste. There was also a very long queue for the carvery, but it was Sunday lunchtime which I guess is a popular time. One member of our party was a wheelchair user, the access to the building was level and provided reasonable access. As it was busy there were no blue badge parking bays available. One member of the party had to accompany the wheelchair user to the carvery as he obviously couldn’t carry a plate, which meant they had to queue again to collect their meal, this meant the people who queued first were almost finished when they returned with their food after queuing twice. Could you have a system where a carer can collect their meat after assisting a wheelchair user when it is busy? So a couple of improvements that could be easily made, but overall we had a lovely meal and we will return to The Shepherds, making sure we avoid the inedible parts of the cauliflower and burnt potatoes!

Place was very cold no heating on as we sat next to radiator we all had a carvery mash potatoe was cold and the rest of the dinner was Luke warm the gravy was the only thing that was hot

The food and service were really good. My only issue was my son and i wanted a mixed grill but unfortunately there was no steak on the menu. My 11 year old daughter loves a carvery and enjoyed her meal. In summary, it was a nice meal but not what i came for and the staff were busy but still pleasant and polite. As long as you don’t want a mixed grill you would enjoy the meal and the atmosphere 100%

Hadn’t been there in a long time due to illness, but my god food was AMAZING 🤪 Manager sooo friendly and staff 👍 The chef great banter 🫶 Carn’t wait to sample the B/F 😜 We’ll definitely be going at least 3 times a week 👏

Very clean. Did well to recover from flooding only a week ago. Great choice of food on carvery. Food quality and preparation were excellent. Great friendly staff. Superb value for money. Disappointed with ales Doombar served but end of barrel. John Smith s served but cloudy and end of barrel. Wainwright s ale looked ok but tasted vinegary. Need a good cellarman appointing who cares about what is served

Food and Service was great. The ice cream from the bottomless machine was the only lowlight. We felt the quality of the ice cream was poor.

This comment is mainly on the vegan beyond burger, which was very bad. It was very very wet, and the burger itself was watery and undercooked. It was just unpleasant and we felt a bit sick after eating. And it’s not super cheap at £21 for two burgers and a few frozen potato wedges. I am sure it can be improved easily, which is why I’m leaving this review. We were pleasantly surprised that they had oat milk for coffee though and vegan items labelled on the menu.

Oh dear. I will simply say I will never return.

Gave the shepherds inn another try on Thursday and what an improvement from the experience 9 months ago, the beef was fantastic, very tender and succulent with plenty of veg choices this time, the others in the party had turkey and said it was very nice, so glad we gave them another chance, now the shepherds inn is back on our rota, we had been using the shepherd's inn for over 40 years way back when it was a small cosy fine dining restaurant

Danielle and Will are always welcoming . We love to get our family together and there can be a lot of us arrive. We are never rushed and it’s a great place for us all to meet, it’s one of our family high lights.

We go most weeks and I have a small carvery which I think it's £6.29 and my friend has a traditional carvery. There are other dishes to choose from. Meat and vegetables always very nice and cooked to my liking which is Al dent.. I usually have beef and a a generous tasty portion is served by a friendly chef. All staff are friendly and we get served in a timely manner We normally go around 12 but yesterday we were a bit later at 2.30-the food was still fresh and In plentiful supply. It looked very appetising. You can also use Meercat Rewards Monday to Thursday so we were able to get 25% off both food and drink.. Bargain! However even without this the food is excellent value money. Would recommend.

Worth short detour off A46. Not familiar with area off main road - found pub on Google maps and decided to give it a try on a grey November lunchtime. Warm welcome from staff - both drinks served as we like them. We both had the carvery. Meats cooked well, excellent choice of veg and sides - all piping hot. Excellent value. It deserved to be busier. When in area next time would not hesitate to eat there again

Not a great first impression as cleaning products were positioned at the main point of entry, we were greeted but not informed what or where to go. The member of staff went off to clear and clean our table but this was not communicated immediately to us. Another staff member then arrived and asked us to wait in the bar area whilst our table no.12 was prepared. We ordered our drinks and food, checked our table afterwards which seemed fine so positioned our drinks and went to the carvery. A good selection of meats for myself, my wife had the vegetarian option. There was not any alternative to the meat for vegetarians however which seemed strange. The vegetables were bland, some overcooked, others under. The cauliflower cheese was pretty much without any cheese flavour. The stuffing was pretty poor and rhe yorkshire were cheap tasting and would guess frozen bulk buys. The meats however were very good and the best thing about our visit. This was obviously completely irrelevant to my vegetarian wife who was disappointed with the whole experience. The staff member serving the meat was friendly, chatty, very pleasant and accommodating. Adjoining tables remained uncleared with dirty plates and glasses throughout our visit which lasted approximately 1 hour. I thought this was poor considering there were several members of staff chatting at the bar when I visited the restrooms. Overall it was a very disappointing meal, we would not return to these standards.

Lovely food as usual. Kids had freshly made pizzas and I had meat free carvery. Only downside was roasties had been out a while so were very brown and a bit soggy other than that veg was cooked well and good variety

Had trouble getting my qr code sorted for the Kids eat for £1 offer the lady at the bar sorted it out for me and was very patent friendly & helpful.. Carvery was lovely and the chef even brough yorkies to our table for us because he had ran out of them when we was getting our carvery.

Staff all really cheerful, pleasant and helpful, from the lady that welcomed us (sorted out the best route to our table for my mother ) , to the guy serving on the carvery (big beaming smile the whole time) to the person who bought our dog a bowl of water (unprompted). Food was excellent as always. Prices very reasonable. All in all its our go to location for informal family meals (9 of us ate yesterday all really happy with the experience).
