This has got to be one of the best meals I’ve had in my life. Everything about this place was excellent. The salad was super fresh, the meats were marinated to perfection! Melt in your mouth! The owner is extremely friendly! 10/10. It’s a must visit

My colleague and I had completed some out-of-hours IT work and were feeling hungry. We happened upon the Land of Fire and asked for a table for two. The boss asked if we had a reservation, we said no, and he explained the restaurant was fully booked, but he could let us have a table for one hour. Looking around at the empty tables, we were a bit sceptical, but as we ordered and ate, sure enough, more and more people turned up, until they were queuing out the door ! My colleague had the Azerbaijani Plov, a rice dish with chestnuts and apricots, which he declared unlike anything else he had eaten before, but absolutely delicious. I selected the Land of Fire Special, which was grilled lamb, chicken and kofta, with flamed pepper, tomato, onion, coriander and flatbread. It was amazing, the meat was so tender and tasty. It was too much for me at one sitting, but the friendly and efficient staff were more than happy to pack the remainder into takeaway cartons. I have just had it again, reheated for today’s lunch, and it was just as good. We both really enjoyed this unusual meal, and are grateful to the boss for squeezing us in !

Authentic food from Azerbaijan, exceptional quality and taste, nice staff and atmosphere. I’ve noticed that Azerbaijani expats like this place too. I visited Azerbaijan and think that this food is at the same level as Italian cuisine only much less known. It’s worth trying it, you won’t be disappointed‼️

An Azerbaijan restaurant that serves really tasty food on a quiet street close to King’s Cross station. We had the Lamb Shish and the Land of Fire Special (mixed charcoal grilled meats), both accompanied by small salad. For dessert, we chose the Baku Cake, which was fresh and very nice with coffee. They provide an itemised bill and accepted both cash and card. Really friendly staff, very attentive. We will certainly be back.

I had the most amazing experience at Land of Fire restaurant. The ambience is welcoming and warm and the service is outstanding, the waiter is helpful and polite. It really adds to the experience. The food was made of high quality especially the Azerbaijani plov, it had a unique taste of sweet and savory and the lamb was extremely tender, it just melted in my mouth. I would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone and the menu had a variety of options; chicken, lamb, vegetarian.

This is a small restaurant with a family-run feel. Unfortunately, it is devoid of atmosphere and full of fake plants which never help with the vibe. Staff are not particularly warm, though not cold either, and the menu is rather lacking in variety and excitement. Given the impressive name of the place, I was expecting big, bold Azerbaijani flavours, but everything is rather meek and bland here. The aubergine starter had been removed from the fridge to order, meaning it was very cold. This inhibited its flavour. The salad with white cheese was fine but reminiscent of something you might make at home in a hurry. The chicken main course was equally average, pleasant but without any distinctive flavour or intrigue. The beef dumplings were probably the best thing we ate and were seasoned well, but even these became a bit dull to eat after a while. The worst thing for me was being given a bottle of cheap Spanish pinot grigot (a brand you would recognise from all UK supermarkets, where it costs around £7, so presumably about £3 to trade) and charged £32 for it. There are no Azerbaijani wines on this menu which I found very disappointing given this country’s viniculture.

What a surprise! We went to Land of Fire as the restaurant we wanted to go to was fully booked, and it was fantastic. Small, cosy dining room, welcoming service, unpretentious and relaxed atmosphere. The waitress was very helpful, the food was tasty, and the portions were generous. The qutabs, the dovga (cold yoghurt soup!), and the Azerbaijani khingali were excellent (and so was the borsch according to my friend) and I can't wait to go back to try more delicacies.

I ate here a month ago with a friend and returned last night to celebrate my birthday with more friends. Its a nice cosy place with excellent food and really friendly staff. If you want some recommendations I recommend the blini for starters, Azerbaijan Plov for a main or if you fancy a special try the walnut and plum chicken (Levengi - 3 day notice required) and the honey walnut cake for desert. All delicious. The cake portions are generous so you may want to split one (or take half home for breakfast like I did) I now want to visit Azerbaijan.

We wanted to try something new for a special occasion of ours, and decided to give Land Of Fire a go, since we had heard so many fantastic reviews from our friends, and it did not disappoint. The food portions are very generous and tasty. You can tell everything is prepared and cooked with fresh, quality ingredients. Not only did the food stand out but the service was very attentive and the atmosphere cosy. I could not recommend this place enough, if you would like to try a new experience, this is the place to go!

Lovely little place, not very big but very nice, food was nice, a bit bland for my taste but nevertheless it was decent. The place is a bit dated but maybe that is the look they go for, lovely waitress, needs to just be a little more attentive, but overall nice experience.

Svekolniy salad (beetroot and walnuts) and aubergine cavlar Ikra to start, and then toyuq cigirtmasi (chicken in tomatoes eggs and onions) and Azerbaijan plov (rice with lamb pieces and cooked onions, chestnuts, apricots and sultanas) for main courses, with homemade cabbage pickle. We then finished with Medoviy (honey cake) for desert. A real mix of styles and an authentic rustic feel to the food which was brilliant. Lots of garlic in the starters and the cabbage pickle was excellent accompaniment to the richness and meatiness of the mains. Meat maybe was slightly dry if I was over critical but that's being picky. Honey cake was to die for. The staff and service was brilliant. A new little venture that I can see surviving and thriving!

During my trip to London and Florence, I've had my favourite meals at Iznik. The vegetarian mezze platter has a great variety and tue smoky babaganoush is out-of-this-world. Everything is fresh and tasty. The Malbek wine complimented my meal and the ambience is peaceful and atmospheric. Lovely to watch the happenings at Highbury Barn. I just love this family business and applauded them on the cleanliness (even the toilets smell divine). I'm trying to fit in 3rd night here on my short trip. Bravo!
