¡Siempre me dan mi mesa favorita! La comida es buena y sabrosa, y sin duda volveré. Siempre tengo sus sopas como entrante, que son buenas. Ojalá tuvieran botellas grandes de cerveza, ¡pero supongo que siempre puedes tener dos!

My first visit and pleasantly surprised as fairly quiet for a Friday evening. It was a relaxed setting, service was great and the food tasted fresh and healthy. My partner and I thoroughly enjoyed everything. If I’m in Blackheath again, I’d definitely return. Reasonably priced too.

Came here as a party of 8. I’ve been coming here on and off for a long long time but not for a while now. But the quality has plummeted. Quite a limited menu really. What was notable was simply the quality of the food served. The chicken in every dish was almost inedible in that it was not chewable. The meat dishes were predominantly vegetable based and just poor quality. The service was poor - just difficult to get an order placed and then it was haphazard as to whether it came back. Desserts - Nothing except banana fritters according to the waitress. But then as we were paying the bill some dessert appeared with ice cream and some form of cake ?? There are a lot of non Thai staff here which is never a good thing in my view if you are eating at a speciality food restaurant. Just very simple poor quality ‘Thai based’ food. Don’t waste your money.

High expectations followed by huge crushing disappointment. Truly terrible food. Things must be bad if the rice is inedible. Everything tasted sickly sweet & the chicken looked terrifying. We got a take away & will never make this mistake again. Off to chuck it all in the bin.

This is a long-standing and traditional Thai restaurant in Blackheath, SE3. The quality of the food is good and it is not expensive. They provide a speedy takeaway service to your door by Deliveroo; and this is popular on a busy evening.

I chose this place almost at random from the UberEats selection - not many Thai places local to me. UberEats delivery worked fine. I was pleasantly surprised with the food as I wasn’t expecting much but the soup, massaman curry and ribs starter I ordered were both very tasty and cooked in a sophisticated way ( I lived for years in a Thai community with a big restaurant scene so I know a bit about Thai cuisine) . Prices were very reasonable and portion size were decent but not huge

Called here for dinner mid week evening. Service was a bit disinterested although fairly efficient. Food was disappointing which is a shame as we used to eat here every week. The authenticity of the food is no longer there. Also expensive at £55 for 1 starter, 2 mains and 2 small beers

I normally order from a different Thai restaurant but the wait for delivery was really long for there, so decided to order from here. The food was nice. Wasn’t overly keen on the tempura veg. The batter stuck to the doily they placed in the container. So the veg didn’t have much batter left on them after I’d delicately attempted to peel the veg from the spilt. I am 2 minuets away by car or bike so assumed it wouldn’t be too long a wait to arrive. It did take a fairly long time to arrive. I haven’t eaten in the restaurant I have only had a take away. Would I order from here again? Yes, but I’d avoid the tempura veg.

What an appalling experience I've had with my friend and son this evening at Laicram restaurant. Below average food, rude staff, and extremely overpriced food I mean my jaw dropped when the bill was revealed (we had water to share, 2 small starters, small broccoli dish, small rice, and inedible noodles). I mean one dish was like a clump of microwavable mush and was left like the majority of the food yet we were still charged as the server tried to say the money back would come out of her wages which I don't really care about as you should not be rude to paying customers and serve an experience that people are happy to pay for. I'm shocked by tonight's behavior and how the server tried to argue with me.

I made an order through uber eats and wanted to amend it and if not cancel the order almost instantly after I placed it. They hung up on me 4 times and left me on hold for 10 mins the 5th time. Their service is awful! The staff are rude and unhelpful! I even tried to contact them through uber and they just ignored the calls and didn’t pick up. I have never been so appalled by how the restaurant handled the situation and how they spoke to their customers. Do not go here under any circumstances! I was charged, didn’t receive my order and my only option was to try and chase it up through uber by writing a complaint. Avoid this restaurant at all costs!!

Even though this restaurant had terrible reviews we thought we would give it the benefit of the doubt & order a Saturday night takeaway. We shouldn’t have, the food was oily and tasteless. The worst Thai we have ever had by daylight. The massaman curry consisted of two greasy thighs of chicken in an oily sauce with an onion (see picture)... no potatoes or peanuts as described on the menu. My husband was so disappointed he drove all the way back to show the owners what a disgrace the meal was even though they showed little remorse. We will never be returning to either eat in or get take away food.

Experiencia absolutamente horroroso.

My husband and I moved to Blackheath back in May and since then always wanted to try Laicram as my sister in law is Thai. Expectations were really high as high as disappointment I'm afraid... First of all there is a funny smell in place- it's like an old wee although my husband claimed it's the Thai spices.... We ordered a house red which was a bottle of fizzy vinegar for 14.95... However it was red! Our meal arrived within 30-60secs of us ordering. It was cold within another minute- a true sign or proof that it was in fact a frozen meal!! My husband had a cashew chicken I had a Thai red curry- both simple staples of Thai kitchen. Both cold and hardly any flavour, even eating an entire chilli pepper didn't give you the fire / heat that you should get in a Thai restaurant!!! Overall we've been there for 20mins, had a rubbish wine and a frozen dinner for 40quid. Do not recommend

We started from fresh and lovely crackers, and for a starter we ordered tempura prawns. They would be great if the cook actually bother to clean the prawns before they has been served! But instead we had decide if we want to eat the prawn poo... maybe that will explain hygiene level 3 sign on their door..For main we ordered Thai green curry with chicken and massaman curry. The massaman curry was very fatty. I asked for a mild green curry, but instead I got extra spicy, which is fine because they were very happy to change it. However after it arrived again the chicken was either overcooked of slightly off that I couldn't actually eat it, so picked all the chicken out and ate the rest. The service was nice but slow... the experience we had was horrific!

First time eating in this restaurant which is located down side street in the heart of Blackheath village. There was good atmosphere, and 90% packed at 20:30. A vast amount of food is available, and so much to choose from the selection of chicken, pork, beef, & seafood , noodles & rice. Didn’t have to wait to long to be seated and served. The wine list has a good selection to choose and some very nice red’s on the list. Now I don’t know much about MSG, but me & the wife woke around 3am gasping for water, so please be aware of the ingredients, and I don’t know if the food can be cooked without MSG. We recently (18/3/2016) went to Laicram Thai restaurant for a friday meal. We got there around 18:45, we were sat down to a table and then we realised how bad this evening was going to be. It took 15minutes before they returned to set our table, while waiting it came to our attention how cold it was, it felt like someone was blowing freezing cold air from the floor upwards. They did indeed have mobile heaters but this did absolutely nothing. We all kept our coats on for the meal. Once they took the order it took 45minutes before the appetisers came. During that time it became apparent that there were lots of takeaway orders, with angry customers pitching up because they had to wait. We ordered some vegetable spring rolls, they tasted like cardboard. The seafood soup was okay. After already waiting one hour for the appetisers, we asked if the main course could come faster, this made no difference and came 35minutes later. We both had chicken green currys with rice. The portion was for a child, the chicken was overcooked and hard. The rice was undercooked and was dry. We asked politely after the meal if this was normal to wait this long for a meal. . It came to my shock that they felt it was reasonable given the time of day. Nevertheless the bill came and they added the service fee without any consent. We didnt make a fuss as it was felt they had no insight how poor things were. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We have been to the Laicram for many years as the food has been consistently good but the service and restaurant are poor! There has been a recent refurb which has left the restaurant cold and draft, they don't seem to have any central heating and are using air conditioning units to blow out warm air which weren't really working. I had to keep my coat on as did many of the other diners. As always one starter (soup) turned up quite quickly but the other starter took longer. We then waited an hour for our main course although many takeaways were being collected in that time. The food we did have was good but its pretty expensive. Its a real shame but the fact we could book a table for a Sat night shows that its popularity is going rapidly downhill!

We visited Laicram on a Saturday evening and were initially encouraged when we saw the restaurant was almost full. We are all local and have dined out in Blackheath for over 10 years now. Laicram used to be a place to go as it was good food and service and was the only Thai restaurant in Blackheath. Sadly, that is not enough of a reason to go there anymore. We waited 20 minutes for a drinks order. It took an hour and 20 minutes for us to get some of our starters, it took 20 minutes more (1:40 from seating) to get the rest of our starters. We did not get any of the dipping condiments despite asking twice. The starters were deep fried (fish cakes etc) and were soggy and oily. At this point, the couple to our left, who had been there since before we arrived were given their main dishes. When I went to complain, I joined a queue of people complaining about the slow service, quality of food or incorrect billing. At this point, we paid for what we had eaten and walked out. Laicram seemed to be having problems that evening, they had 3 front of house staff, but only 1 of them was waiting on 40 covers. The other 2, I have no idea what they were up to. The kitchen possibly only had 1 chef working. The issue I have with Laicram is that they were still accepting more walk-ins despite the issues. I suspect the new management either do not know how to run a restaurant, or are just to looking to eke as much money out the premises before the rental agreement expires. Laicram does not offer a good value, or an enjoyable dinning experience and you are better served patronising one of the other independent restaurants in Blackheath.

Once he'd finished, my wife's starter arrived. Five minutes later mine: the poorest apology for Tom Ka soup I've ever known. We then tired of waiting for our main courses so I paid the bill and we left. Three starters, a beer and a bottle of Sancerre - £57. Zero Degrees greeted us happily, seated us and we had a fine evening. Please don't go to Laicram - it has no redeeming features at all. I felt sorry for the waiters, who were well out of their depth.

I have been a regular visitor to Laicram for over 15 years and can see why its does split opinion with both regular and first time visitors. The decor is pretty shabby and despite some efforts to spruce it up it remains dated. The food however is rarely below par , we normally have a selection of Vegetarian and meat dishes and its is always very tasty and usually polished off very quickly. The portions are not on the large side and the service again can be indifferent but I think with Blackheath village quite short on Chinese/Thai options this place surivives.

Awful. We used to go to this restaurant once a month in the 1990s, and went back tonight. In the 1990s the restaurant was run by two old thai gentlemen in white jackets. The food was served beautifully, and was tasty. It was a dining experience. One we wanted to repeat with the kids.Tonight the decor incredibly (twenty five years later) was unchanged. Older though. The menu was the same (the prices must have gone up) too. But instead of the two gentlemen a rather disreputable down-at-heel is in charge. Just as the old gentlemen embodied the style of the place, Laicram Thai had taken on the characteristics of its current owner. We ordered jasmine tea. He eventually brought us mugs with spoons and tea bags in them. We asked for a jug of tap water - he told us we couldnt have a jug, we had to have glasses. Next door table then got a jug.Pork on toast. No pork - you have to have prawn he said. Crispy vermicelli - nope - we stopped serving that because the customers didn't like it. (Well its been on the menu for 20 years - its surprising you just discovered). Actually it was my favourite then.My wife frowned at me when I started to get cross. "The childrens celebration - don't ruin it."We got through the very highly priced soggy starters. Ploughed our way through the overly sweet "sweet and sour" style food. Less Thailand, more Iceland really. Would you mind now taking the dishes? Half went. They lost interest. My wife used to order banana fritters years ago - and ordered them determinedly. They took the order. After a delay they came back. Sorry they said we don't have them."You know this place used to be good," she told the waiter "but not its just c..." she broke off.The waiter replied dolefully "I know," he said "A lot of people say that"Over the door as we left I noticed the Laicram Thai Restaurant sign had stopped lighting up properly as it used to. Now only the Laicram part lit up. It would probably be best if the remaining light went, and Laicram could be allowed to die with dignity.

We used to use this restaurant on a regular basis but can say it has truly gone downhill. They seem to have given up. The decor is very dated. The restaurant was freezing with a lack of heating. On our visit a door was left open due to a heating problem. Therefore four of the tables at the back of the restaurant could not be used. Calor gas heaters were randomly placed around the restaurant but made no difference. The portion sizes have also shrunk and not worth the money. The staff seemed to have given up as well and were not attentive to detail such as no napkins or forks. They really are missing a trick here as the only Thai in Blackheath and they really could make something if they shut for a refurb and put heating in. Such a shame as we do enjoy a Thai meal but we will not be returning here.

We have been coming here for over twenty years and it was one of our favourite restaurants. Recently it has started to go downhill with smaller portions, lack of desserts and higher prices. We had almost decided not to bother returning. Our recent visit has helped us make the decision not to return unless we hear favourable reviews in the future. The illuminated sign outside is only partly lit up which doesn't create a good impression to start with. We dined as a foursome but the starters came at significantly different times. The Tom Yum soup was bland and hardly had any seafood in it, just lots of large slices of mushroom. The main dishes were nowhere near as good as have been served in the past. The broccoli was very salty, the fish was dry and small in size and the dish of chicken pieces was about half the size of what it is normally. The chicken was also very dry. The crab rice had just two small crab claw ends and one was still frozen.Three of the dishes we ordered failed to appear. So in short terrible organisation, poor food and not good value for money. The staff are friendly and try to help but unfortunately and very disappointingly the restaurant is no longer worth a visit. My partner and I ate here on Tuesday. The food was superb (by far some of the better thai food I've had in a long time) and we both really enjoyed it. I was skeptical given the earlier reviews and thought I'd send a short message to say this place has really improved.

Have been here several times over the years however it's gone down hill. Portions are v small and overpriced. The food tasted like it been reheated. We did not get value for money and will not return.

Let me be clear. The food here is very, very good. Everything was beautifully flavoured, served quickly and the staff were friendly and helpful. My only issue was the fact we were served portions around a third the size they should have been yet we're expected to pay above average prices. The restaurant is clearly popular. If value for money were not a concern I'd certainly return, but I simply can't justify paying that much to finish a meal still feeling hungry.

I haven't eaten here for around 10-12 months, but decided to go there on Saturday as the food was also good and tasty. However, what a huge disappointment. It wasn't overly busy for a Saturday night, and the place seemed different. On closer inspection, the staff no longer wear the traditional thai cloths, the cutlery and pates on the table where worn and there was one thin serviette on the plate. The waitress had a little difficulty in understanding my order due to lack of english, so we had to ask for the food by their numbers on the menu. We ordered the sea bass with lemon and chili, chicken with basil and chili and a pad thai. All to be served together with Garlic rice. The garlic rice, which was my own recipe and one which I shared with them some time now was still on their menu and I was really looking forward to trying. The fish came out first, and was astonished at how small it was. Before the fish was as big as the plate, now perhaps half of the size. The dressing over the fish only tasted of lemon and no real hint of chili and was slightly bland. We waited for a couple of minutes before the rice was served along with the rest of the meal. The rice wasn't very garlicky (despite them perfecting it when I explained how to make it). The chicken was over cooked and the sauce was oily and salty. The pud thai, wow a huge disappointment. This was not only very oily but there were only two small prawns and some over cooked chicken buried within the noodles. We tried a dessert which was the deep fried banana (almost like a fritter), and was bland. Again, I was a massive fan of this restaurant and have eaten here for many years. The last time was around 10-12 months ago and it really has changed. I didn’t actually enjoy the food and I am doubtful I will go back. However, saying that I feel it might be worth one last visit just in case it was an ‘off night’. I will then follow up with a further review. On top off all this, the waitress never bothered to fill out glasses with wine, but that didn’t stop them adding a service charge.

What a disappointment, this restaurant needs to be refurbished as it's too cramped. They have no tea, coconut rice or papaya, so it's not an authentic Thai menu.

I found it hard to fault this establishment. The tom yum soup had perfectly balanced flavours and spices, I could've had it for a main meal it was so nice. The Thai green chicken curry was exceptional and the sticky rice was to die for. I was feeling rather piggy so for dessert I sampled their banana fritters which were crisp and delightful. Overall it was a great meal and I would recommend it to families who want a pleasant change from an Indian.

I've been coming to this little Thai restaurant for years with friends and family, partly because my parents are massive fans. I've never had a bad meal, but then I've never had a truly great one here either. Everything is pretty good. My parents rave about the authenticity of the desserts, but not being a dessert person, this isn't a major game changer for me. There aren't many tables, so if you're planning a visit on a weekend, you should definitely call ahead. Personally I've been to better Thai and Asian restaurants...but if you're in the local area and don't want to go far, this is fine.

The other reviews are right - don't go here for the decor, the parking, the service or any ambience you don't bring yourself, but if you love great, fresh, zingy Thai food to please your palate try Laicram.

This restaurant is OK but nothing more than that. It is quite cramped inside and parking is not easy of a weekend night. I am basing my review on the Thai restaurant in Chislehurst that I have reviewed previously. That restaurant has dishes with gorgeous flavours and the food feels more special than he at Laicram. If I lived nearby I might go in the week, but there are better places to go...

Admittedly we chose 7:30pm on a Saturday and the restaurant was busy so we ordered a take away. The decor has not been updated in over a decade and is really quite tatty looking. It was also draughty and generally cold, not very inviting. The food though was inexcusably bad. Since the excellent (and even less expensively decorated) Smile Thai Cafe in Brockley mysteriously closed its doors last year we have been looking for a replacement. This was also far more expensive and appeared to be staffed entirely by teenagers, pleasant and helpful though they were. A very watery chicken curry (no coconut milk???), lame, tasteless pad Thai (no peanuts??) bland tofu & veg in chilli and some prehistoric looking ribs in what appeared to be treacle & MSG sauce were our main dishes. At least the prawn crackers and Singhas we had while we waited were decent but making a mess of those would be some feat. Give it a miss, overall utterly khap khun krap.

The service was efficient and friendly, and the starter was really nice but my partner and I both thought that our main meals were a bit lacklustre. Still, the restaurant was packed by 7PM and we saw people queueing at the front door, so perhaps we should have ordered the curry dishes instead.

There is a dearth of decent Thai restaurants in this part of London and those that were once good appear to have deteriorated with time. Of these the Laicram is probably still the best but it needs to address its deficiencies if it is to retain the patronage of its regularsThe restaurant itself is quite small and well packed with tables. The decor has probably changed little since the 1990s and does a nice line in dusty plastic flowers. Somewhat oddly it also boasts wooden plaques on the walls bearing the names of some of the dishes e.g. Pad Thai, Green Curry etc. Very odd! I have no quibbles about the service, it is true that some of the staff are very inexperienced but I found their naivety somewhat appealing. I guess it is sort of in keeping with the eccentricity of the rest of the place. The Laicram provides all the usual Thai menu staples, I have found that the standard of cooking seems to vary and suspect that they use several chefs in their kitchens. Reliability and consistency can therefore be a problem. They do do an excellent “coconut pudding – little square baskets made of leaf in which a layer of pandan flavoured goo with water chestnut is then topped by a layer of coconut cream. A portion of three is just not enough!I shall keep attending the Laicram as it remains the best Thai restaurant in the neighbourhood, however improving the decor and providing consistently good food would probably attract new customers

Visited on 8/08/12. The food descriptions in the menu are far better than what actually arrives. They don't have any way of chilling your wine, so cold bottles are just left on the table to warm up. Interior needs a clean. Waiting staff need to speak basic English, but don't. They're proudly displaying 7 different AA Rosette plates, but I'll bet you £100 the current chef didn't earn them. If you're drunk and fancy a Thai take away, this just might work.

As a regular visitor here I can testify for its excellent and constantly good food- ok, it may not be the best looking restaurant, it's decor is dated and could do with updating, but it's the food that matters!! Good menu with excellent fragrant tasty dishes and a surpringly good and cheap wine list- a great little restaurant with the best Thai food in South East London

Tucked away in the road opposite the railway station this restaurant has been serving great Thai food for as long as I can remember. Worth booking on Friday and Saturday nights as gets busy. It is a little small and can be a bit crampted but it is worth it.

I've been going to this restaurant for a couple of years now and have always been impressed with the food. I've always read on reviews of poor service, but in the 6 to 7 times I have been, including a New Years Eve, the service has been OK, it certainly hasn't taken away from enjoyment of the meal. It is small and therefore the double tables can be a bit close together, but if I wanted privacy I would look elsewhere. I go there for the food and as my wife is a vegan it is good that they have a wide vegetarian selection.

We've been patronising Laicram for a number of years now, and I must admit that the food remains wonderful. The service, however, has been deteriorating over time. On our last visit (which my partner vows will be our last ever), the waiter knocked over a full bottle of wine, walked away without apologising, and then charged us for the second bottle of wine! I'm sad not to be going back, as Laicram was one of my favourites in Blackheath....but there was no recognition that we were in all the time, and no apology, even after we complained.

Good food served with friendly and typically humble thai hospitality. THere is a good range even for vegetarians. Downside is that perhaps they have the tables a little too together so it can feel a little too crowded when full, and it usually is full, advisable to book fridays and saturdays.

This is a poor excuse for thai food, over cooked or deep fried I think the owners should be ashamed being Thai themselves. The chicken satay was like rubber, everything else offered on the starter taster was deep fried with no flavour. The sea bass main was far from fresh, although not badly spiced. The place itself is in badly need of refurbishing.Save disappointment and eat else where.

The Laicram is a Blackheath stalwart and I was pleased to discover on a recent visit that it's as good as ever. An extensive menu, including vegetarian. Food is beautifully presented and tastes good and there's plenty of it. You need one rice between two, one between three wasn't quite enough. Service is a little bit erratic but the food makes up for it. Music was a bit intrusive but they turned it down when we asked.

Not sure where they get their customer service skills from. We got told there was a table being prepared when there was already two empty tables both set, then got told it would be a five minute wait and we could wait at the bar. Trying to get a drink at the bar was somewhat difficult and the five come ten minute wait for a table proved faster than getting a drink. Then we got ushered over to one of the empty tables were had to walk past to get to the bar to begin with. The service never improved and the food was okay but its definitely possible to get cheaper, better Thai food with better service included. Shame its the only Thai place in Blackheath and I am definitely not going back. Not cheap either. It cost us £50 for 2 mains, 2 rice, 2 starters, some water, and 4 soft drinks. Like most Asian restaurants in London, you are also seated very close to other tables.

When you first enter the Laicram you could be forgiven for thinking you have been transported back to the 70's or 80's, in fact I remember eating here back in 1994 and I honestly don't think it's changed a single bit inside since then!!However, interior aside, this restaurant delivers great food and my fiancee and I had a great meal here recently. The massaman chicken curry was lovely and the sweet and sour fish was also full of flavour. We didn't try any of the desserts although the selection on the dessert trolley looked very good. The restaurant was very busy on a Friday night so booking would be a must at weekends I would imagine. The service was ok but not spectacular, fairly efficient apart from one order of drinks being forgotten.Overall the food is what would bring us back here. It was tasty and the portions seemed ok for two of us. It won't wow you as a place of beauty but it might just wow your tastebuds!

Used to get takeaway from here for years and it used to be good. But it has gone down hill. The last 2 times the food has been extremely not fresh, like they just whack old food in the microwave and give it to the customers. Ordered 3 meals and it had arrived in 10 minutes, it should not take that quick to arrive. The food tasted really old. One of the meals had random different noodles in it like it was from a prior old meal. Don’t think they have any regard on the quality of their food or keeping customers.

Ordered a cross selection from the menu for a delivery. The food arrived and it was the worst Chinese meal we have ever ordered!!! The chicken curry was watery mire like a tasteless chicken soup! All the food from the egg fried rice to the house special noodle was just bland! Dry and tasteless, below is a picture of the chicken curry

Wow. Taste buds revived. AMAZING food. Green curry like I have never had before, yet it's a favourite I choose often. Try the Matoom platter, everything delicately delicious. The go-to place for vegan and gluten-free. Don't be fooled by the unassuming front. The space is also comfortable, and Van's service is warm and super friendly. Plus, as there is no booze licence, you can choose a bottle from Sainsbury's across the road, and save on the price of wine. This is the best value for money I have come across in years.
